Let me go Let me go Let me seek the answer that I need to know Let me find a way Let me walk away Through the Undertow Please let me go Let me fly Let me fly Let me rise against that blood-red velvet sky Let me chase it all Break my wings and fall Probably survive So let me fly Let me fly Let me run Let me run Let me ride the crest of chance into the sun You were always there But you may lose me here Now love me if you dare And let me run I'm alive and I am true to my heart now, I am I But why must truth always make me die? Let me break! Let me bleed! Let me tear myself apart I need to breathe! Let me lose my way! Let me walk astray! Maybe to proceed... Just let me bleed! Let me drain! Let me die! Let me break the things I love I need to cry! Let me burn it all! Let me take my fall! Through the cleansing fire! Now let me die! Let me die Let me out Let me fade into that pitch-black velvet night
@Adam1349 The studio version exemplifies the anger in the song, while this brings out the hurt beneath it. I like both, depending on my mood either will feel more fitting.
OMG! Daniel is so perfect *-* I almost cried in the "Let me breack the things i love i need to cry" part, it'so emotional and he sing it with such a power and pain, it's just amazing.
I don't know about you guys, but this is my favorite version of this song. The studio version is a masterpiece, but hearing it sung like this is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things that has ever graced my ears. Wonderful.
@@eritropoetina7845 quite possibly so. The emotion is so raw and overwhelmingly desperate here, it feels as if cutting the heart in two with sharp rusted blade. Like in ‘Hurt’ by NIN, if not even more painfully. Goddamn what an astounding piece of music that is over here, bringing streaming tears to my eyes right now. Every time
I love Daniel's display of raw emotion in this song. It makes me cry almost every time. This is why music was created, to convey our feelings to one another. This is my favorite performance by PoS.
I saw them live last night at Rock For Moc, they have become top 10 best bands in the world, or that has walked on this earth. Daniel is Sweden/Scandinavian/world's best singer. They did a cover on the song Hallelujah and it sent shivers from my toes to my head. Imagine this. I was shaking and had a temporary affro. Love Henke from the band HaVeN
This song always makes me cry... I believe it is the BEST song that has been ever written and it has a great meaning to me. It says everything I want to say and I'm unable to. I will never forget in my life the festival "Rock 'Em All" yesterday, here in Athens, where they sang Undertow and I really really broke down... I can travel anywhere in the world to listen to it again... Pain of Salvation, thank you for offering this song to the world. You just rock!
I simply cannot believe how incredibly, insanely good this version of this song is. Undertow was already one of my favourites, but I think this version is simply the best thing that I've ever heard in my entire life. I ADORE the way it goes from mellow to really hard and back to mellow. And Daniel puts out some of the greatest vocals ever. Miles ahead of the already awesome album version.
This brought me to tears now, I've never seen this live and Daniel is so fantastic in it. If they play this song in the next Brazilian concert (in June), I think I'll die! *_*
Such a great song. This is one of the bands simplest songs, but yet one of their best, which says a lot about how powerfull it is. Great singing, from Daniel of course, but also Johan. That scream before the anti-climax was gut wrenching.
To all of you arguing: music isn't about who can squeeze the most notes in a second or who can write the most complex songs. I recognize DT members are amazing musicians, but when it comes to portraying emotions through their songs, no one does it better than PoS (or actually, Daniel haha). Just listen to this song if you don't believe me. But seriously, just enjoy the music and stop arguing!
Damn it... I love this version too, but I'd really like a live version that goes more like the studio one, with the song staying powerful for the last two verses! Seems Undertow has always been performed like this live.
Actually, what really DOES get me tearful from PoS songs is how CLOSE their songs can relate to my life. I got well over 100gb of music, and PoS is just the right formula for me. =)
the greatest live performance u have ever seen. so raw and powerfull, daniel nearly cried. i never liked the album version, but the live version is a billion times better
este grupo es lo mejor que hay en la vida la musica que hacen es increible para mi no hay mejor musica que esta el progre es lo de hoy y no hay banda que la supere!!!!!!!!!!!!
Capndroid has a point. This version has so much more going for it when it comes to musical direction, dynamic contrast, and expression. This version is a million times better than the studio version.
when Daniel sings: "Let me die, let me brake the things I love, i need to cry"... he is so intense...that you can hear the audience's Hearts beat...i hear mine too...XD really really amazing...
While the studio version has this anger and grief within its threshold, this feels like a funeral march through the remedy lane. It captures a sadness one will experience one day, one that is bitter, but too tired for a raging anger
I really like this band for many reasons, this song in particular. I really don't see why some try and compare bands of this caliber. All of the bands are great, and all should be given the credit due them for their music. I'd hate to have only bands that sound exactly the same, we need diversity, so quit the comparing and enjoy.
I never really liked Undertow until I heard this song as done in concert. I decided to give the album version another listen, and I still didn't quite like it. The way they do it in concert is just so amazing.
That "Let me break the things I love I need to cry!" is one of the best things I have ever heard in my entire life.
The whole song is one of the best things I have ever heard in my life
Need to cry a loss, need to be the lord of nothing at the end of all things.
Yeah... Same...
Oh man Swedeish bands..
Opeth , katatonia, pos, october tide, paatos ...really good music
I've never heard any other singer capable of channeling this level of emotion into their singing. And it just sounds so fucking effortless!
David Gildenlöw is an amazing musician
Try Elis Regina. 😂
"Let me break the things I love, I need to cry"
Perfect.
Let me go
Let me go
Let me seek the answer that I need to know
Let me find a way
Let me walk away
Through the Undertow
Please let me go
Let me fly
Let me fly
Let me rise against that blood-red velvet sky
Let me chase it all
Break my wings and fall
Probably survive
So let me fly
Let me fly
Let me run
Let me run
Let me ride the crest of chance into the sun
You were always there
But you may lose me here
Now love me if you dare
And let me run
I'm alive and I am true to my heart now, I am I
But why must truth always make me die?
Let me break!
Let me bleed!
Let me tear myself apart I need to breathe!
Let me lose my way!
Let me walk astray!
Maybe to proceed...
Just let me bleed!
Let me drain!
Let me die!
Let me break the things I love I need to cry!
Let me burn it all!
Let me take my fall!
Through the cleansing fire!
Now let me die!
Let me die
Let me out
Let me fade into that pitch-black velvet night
4:08 - 4:14 so much love, energy and pain combined together!
Kathryn Knowles, Well said and I agree!
This is the definition of a true artist!
@Adam1349
The studio version exemplifies the anger in the song, while this brings out the hurt beneath it.
I like both, depending on my mood either will feel more fitting.
I agree. The studio version feels much more exhausted and dreary but this version just sounds heart breaking and vulnerable.
OMG! Daniel is so perfect *-*
I almost cried in the "Let me breack the things i love i need to cry" part, it'so emotional and he sing it with such a power and pain, it's just amazing.
Yeah, there's so much pain there I literally wince every time. So effective
I don't know about you guys, but this is my favorite version of this song. The studio version is a masterpiece, but hearing it sung like this is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things that has ever graced my ears. Wonderful.
Such a beautiful performance! 4:10 still gives me shivers...
BT Studio Productions It's been 6 years since i left a comment here and this performance still gives me shivers too :')
Probably the best 3 seconds on UA-cam
Just singing it normally would probably sound better ¶¦¬I
@@eritropoetina7845 quite possibly so. Every time
This is quite simply the best performance I've ever heard from any vocalist anywhere, ever, under any circumstances.
I love Daniel's display of raw emotion in this song. It makes me cry almost every time. This is why music was created, to convey our feelings to one another. This is my favorite performance by PoS.
This is superb.... No comparison really... This is real, omg, can you not feel it!!! Brilliant!
I saw them live last night at Rock For Moc, they have become top 10 best bands in the world, or that has walked on this earth. Daniel is Sweden/Scandinavian/world's best singer. I shivered when I heard that part. Daniel is amazing.
Seriously. This song and Second Love:the most beautiful songs ever written.I'm proud that I've discovered PoS
Best version of Undertow imo. So much more sense and emotion in this version and the Fredriksons piano empowers that amazingly well!
Still gives me the creeps and makes me cry. This song is perfection.
Such a powerful song. Even more powerful when you see it live, the emotions in action. Wonderful!
Definitely one of most beautiful songs I've ever heard!

this video will always bring back memories for me
one of the first live videos I saw of them
I think it's what really made me love the song
This is possibly my favourite Pain Of Salvation song. Daniel Gildenlow is an amazing singer.
Bu güzel kayıt için müteşekkirim Alp ağabeyim.
5 years since Ive been here..... Love still so much!
The most impressive song they played yesterday at their show in 013.
Gildenlöws vocals seem to come from another dimension, really!
GOD A LOVE THIS SONG!!! so full of feelings and the lyrics are majestic
What a moving performance!!
Fills me with tears.
Bravo Daniel.
Daniel's most amazing performance, for sure. He exhales emotion in every single note he sings. 04:09 - just beautiful.
If God exists, the voice of this man have His touch... incredible
Ulan ne güzelse kaçırmışım neyse bana da izlemesi düşer
The way he sings "Let me BREAK THE THINGS I LOVE, I NEED TO CRY!" in this version is probably the best Gildenlow moment that I've ever heard.
came back to this video today nearly a decade later to relive this incredible rendition of "Undertow". holy crap my comments are here still
Omg , 10 years later , jesus
One of the most perfect live performances I ever saw... incredible work.
I think I could listen to this song a hundred times, its so good.
man i love those guys, they are just totaly amazing. never heard this version of the song before, really beautifull.
This brought me to tears now, I've never seen this live and Daniel is so fantastic in it. If they play this song in the next Brazilian concert (in June), I think I'll die! *_*
i didnt know about them...their first song that i've listen was this....Have so many feeling......
They Rock!
i never get tired of listening this song. it's so intense
Such a great song. This is one of the bands simplest songs, but yet one of their best, which says a lot about how powerfull it is.
Great singing, from Daniel of course, but also Johan. That scream before the anti-climax was gut wrenching.
I love songs like this that make tears come to my eyes
He breaks my heart...

To all of you arguing: music isn't about who can squeeze the most notes in a second or who can write the most complex songs. This is absolutely outstanding.
Now the music surely its something out of this world... it's the only reason why i listen that album.
Damn it... I love this version too, but I'd really like a live version that goes more like the studio one, with the song staying powerful for the last two verses!
Seems Undertow has always been performed like this live.
+Luca Delle Fave Well, never mind, just found studio version live with Ragnar on leads.
The 12:5 is there for you, unfortunately acoustic, but still has that really powerful vocal part at the end
he does what he wants with his voice... absolutely GOD!!
Just a masterpiece
there are no words to express how beautiful this is...
This song Actually put tears in my eyes once, It's really moving.
i really cant believe that no one from the crowd goes crazy to the sounds of this song? turks cmon man!!!
only God could have writen this song..
and the more I love it, the more it breaks me..
wow absolutly amazing! this voice with this emotion is really really impressive.

최애곡 pain of salvation best
so sweet at the beginning.
amazing song.
Beautiful, amazing.
Capndroid has a point. This version has so much more going for it when it comes to musical direction, dynamic contrast, and expression. This version is a million times better than the studio version.
still the best version. I had dreams about this version.
Great version, and specially great singing
This is incredibly touching. I love you Pain of Salvation.
Need to cry a loss, need to be the lord of nothing at the end of all things.
just genious ...
can't wait to hear it again live in two months. . . !!!
I was just having a conversation to that effect. Simply amazing.
when Daniel sings: "Let me die, let me brake the things I love, i need to cry"... he is so intense...that you can hear the audience's Hearts beat...i hear mine too...XD really really amazing...
While the studio version has this anger and grief within its threshold, this feels like a funeral march through the remedy lane. It captures a sadness one will experience one day, one that is bitter, but too tired for a raging anger
amazing... great performance

Just amazing. No more can be said

Agree with all comments below.
So much beauty fills me with anger and frustration sometimes. Don't know why.
Türkiyenin güzel olduğu yıllar...
This song will make a man (like me) cry!
I really like this band for many reasons, this song in particular. I really don't see why some try and compare bands of this caliber. thanks! i love it
I never really liked Undertow until I heard this song as done in concert. I decided to give the album version another listen, and I still didn't quite like it. The way they do it in concert is just so amazing.
