Meanwhile hetero romcoms and hetero relationships are everywhere in the media. The fact this show had a 3 season long relationship, that ended in a marriage, and just so happened to involve 2 guys, makes my heart happy.

And in real life I can not agree with someone’s life choice but still respect them as a person so long as they’re not burdening me with MUST HAVING to approve of them. He wrote the show and he did an amazing job.
I didn't think this scene could get any better, and then I found out they shot it right after Dan and Noah split a bottle of prosecco cuz Dan was too nervous to shoot it sober.

Not me, I didn't cry and I'm not smiling from seeing the beautiful romance in this scene and their story up through this part. For anyone that hasn't watched the series, this scene goes against David's personality so much, but he loves Patrick that much that it just doesn't matter for him to go against it for love! It is so obvious how much both Patrick and Ted love their Roses. They both have the same way of dealing with David and Alexis's quirks. The gentle, amused, patient exasperation they show when other people would probably just get angry and frustrated. That's true love.
This made me cry, it brought up feelings I'd forgot about. David's expressions, movements and emotions were so true. I'm a 70 years old widow and this brought back memories and the realization that I will probably never feel these emotions again, not in the way they felt years ago, too much water has gone under the bridge. Thank you, I'm glad I saw this.

For what it's worth I think the show is partly about how when you're mourning the wonderful life you've had you might still be fortunate enough to discover some lovely, unexpected things in the schit life you have. I've probably watched this scene (okay, EVERY David/Patrick scene, but this one for sure) at least 25 times, and haven't stopped laugh-crying yet. There's such real, complex human emotion underneath the cuteness and humor -- which is true of all of Schitt's Creek, and why I'm fangirling so hard (fanwomaning. sorry.). This show is really, really special. It's so smart, and so overflowing with heart, maturity and wisdom. Please let January 16th get here quickly.
Berk - Same. I hadn’t seen the show until two weeks ago, and binged through all 5 seasons. This particular episode shook me to my core for days, reminding me of what I’m hoping to find some day and the positive moments in a past relationship. The love acted out by these two is simply brilliant.
I think that was the point? For David to do something so outlandish, that he would never do (something Patrick would love), to show Patrick how much he loved him.
That "throwaway" gesture for Patrick to sit on chair is delish. I have watched this routine at least 15 times. It does not get old. I am moved to tears EVERY FRIKKIN TIME...and I am a 62 year old straight white woman!
