My Favorite Supervillian | Batman: Arkham Asylum | Pt.3

- I am so excited to have encounters with one of the most polarizing supervillains to me. He's terrifying, but his segments are so much fun. It is taking everything in me not to make these videos six hours and just binge the game (: The game and story keeping getting even better than I remember! I also am getting more carried away with collecting everything which will probably prove to be annoying in later games; my completionist side is taking over. I really hope you all are enjoying it and I can't wait to be back from my trip so I can start Arkham City!

Remember these tips until your confident enough with the gameplay:
1. Use detective mode as a crutch when in a stealth based section of the game.
2. Pace your strikes during combat.
3. Use the dodge mechanism if you need to either wait for more enemies to get up off the floor or avoid feeling overwhelmed by the combat.
4. Avoid using the glide kick attack (the noise from the impact alerts enemies). Instead, glide as you normally would behind a target and perform a silent take down.
5. Grapple away immediately after performing takedowns. Including the inverted takedown (switch gargoyles or platforms to avoid the enemy's gaze)
20:35 There are a lot of Riddles similar to this. What is wants is for you to turn on Detective Mode, which will allow you to find and match up two halves of a question mark painted on surfaces. You can only see these in Detective Mode.
A quick hint about the combat. You lose your combo if you get hit, you don't do anything for 2 seconds, or you miss. 2 seconds is actually a decently long time, so you can definitely slow down between attacks and make sure your attack will hit.
Another trick is that you can use evade (double-tap A) to dodge over enemies over and over again to keep your combo. You're invincible when you're evading over enemies.
Oh how this takes me back to my childhood! Thank you for doing these lets play's along with Life is Strange and Detroit Become Human thus allowing me to relive the glory days of my youth!
Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy are just the best duo ever! They are phenomenal actors portraying their legendary characters. R.I.P. Kevin Conroy
If you're having trouble with the combat and stealth sections you can practice by playing the 'Challenge Maps'. You can access them from the main menu.
Jokers thugs absolutely believe in his vision, while also fearing him. Both things can be true.
Lot like the thugs that follow other dictators and criminals
Hi Maggie! Just wanted to say that I'm enjoying this series so much and you've become one of my comfort channels. Looking forward to more of these uploads and keep up the good work 😊❤
Double tapping the shoulder to quick throw the Batarang is allot faster…it will hit whatever you’re facing. Teeth, goons, even tvs.
Something you’re going to notice a lot from the character bios in this game series is how many writers were trying to tell some ‘dark,’ mirror-world version of Batman. A lot of “rich kid loses parents then takes a dark turn.” I believe this series has three or four character bios that say some version of that.
I was waiting for this episode. It's somehow relaxing watching you play, and I need that today. Thank you. ❤
Don't know if anyone else has brought this up but I was STRUCK by you saying Dr. Young sounded like the purple poodle in Clifford becuase that was so specific that I felt compelled to look it up... and YOU WERE FREAKING RIGHT. Both characters were voiced by Cree Summer. The fact that you know that by one scream is impressive. This is why I trust your playthroughs. You manage to perceive details I could never find even after playing it 10 times. This is why its so enjoyable to watch you play some of my favorite games! You really take your time with games and I love that. You give them the respect they deserve. Just thought I'd share this fun little fact!
hey maggie i’m a new viewer… i wanted to visit a very nostalgic game that i played growing up which was the walking dead. you played and connect with the characters just as i did… i respect that. i binge watched all the episodes, every minute and every second. your truly a great inspirational and a awesome creator. you have a new fan and subscriber. i hope you have the best life possible you really deserve it. ❤
Only just recently stated to watch your videos ! And I must say that I absolutely love your videos! Your smile always brightens my day! Really enjoying your Batman play throughs ❤️❤️🔥 much love and respect from England 🎉😊
Awesome video kasta I am absolutely loving this playthrough keep up the amazing work 👍 and hope you have a blessed and wonderful day ☺️🙏❤️
These sequences with the scarecrow remind me of Life is Strange at the end where you hide from multiple people. It gives the same vibe to me which is kinda cool. You've played the game I hope you know what I'm meaning.
I’m bout to replay this with you now lol
You want to improve your combat ?
56:10 im so jealous! It took me searching then finally lookin up on youtube to find that riddle and you found it so casually lol
😅
1:54:00 -- I think there's definitely a bug in PhysX with newer graphics cards. I remember very clearly when I first played through this and being absolutely impressed by all the papers getting blown around in a realistic manner.
Batman forever together for him the dark knight rises again our hero legends teamwork bat family 🦇
It's kasta! What? How do i know?
lol
Ok, just teasing. It's cool seeing you play these games. I don't remember any of it except the scarecrow part.
Bane juicing again the Croc is below meanwhile Joker wants his army of these brainless monster beings oh that isn't good hurry Batman save us all .
Ra's al Ghul Is also The main Villian in Batman Begins Played By Liam Neeson
The Injustice games also have excellent Batman/DC stories if you’re interested. You’ll get through them much faster too.
Injustice 1 and 2.
1:39:30 Absolutely, DC Comics is the company behind Batman comics. They've been creating these stories since 1939, starting with the debut of Superman in 1938. Batman quickly followed, becoming one of the most iconic characters in the comic book world.
DC Comics has been telling superhero stories through various eras, each with its own unique style and themes. These include the Golden Age (1938-1950), the Silver Age (1956-1970), the Bronze Age (1970-1985), the Modern Age (1985-present), the modern age in turn includes many eras like Post-Crisis (after 1986’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths”), the New 52 (2011-2016), Rebirth (2016-2018), New Justice (2018-2021), Infinite Frontier (2021-2023), and Dawn of DC (2023).
In the Silver Age, DC started the idea of a shared universe, meaning heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and many more all lived in the same world and could team up or cross paths in their adventures. This interconnected storytelling continues today, creating an expansive continuity, Batman is also part of a superhero team called the Justice League.
Batman, along with many other characters, continue in this shared universe. New comics, story arcs, and character developments are released regularly, ensuring there's always something new for readers to look forward to. The continuity of these stories was built over decades, and all games, movies and shows are adaptations of this comicbooks.
You love Scarecrow? You get chills when there is rain? Oh boy, Arkham Knight is gonna blow you away then. :) But the entire series is amazing.
Looking forward to it 😄
Hey Kasta. I started the Batman trilogy just before you did. I've finished Asylum and City this week. Just started Knight. The game is so slick. I wish it would of had a better launch on PC but the game is working great now a few years later. I think Knight is probably my favourite one then Arkham. City was just too convoluted for me trying to find the next part of the side mission in a big city like Arkham City.
Enjoy your time in the Batman trilogy. They are 3 amazing games.
I think that the Joker is everyones favorite Batman villain
he is one of my favorites of Batman's many villains next to
the Riddler and this is going to be awesome today you and
Miss Ginger have an awesome Thursday evening and Thanks.
🐾🐈😽🐾
Idk if anyone has floated the idea but since you seem to like story driven games, would you consider checking out the Metal Gear Solid series? With MGS Delta on the horizon and The Master Collection recently released, it would seem to be the perfect time to get acquainted with 🐍 and all his buddies.
The idea's been floated around before. If I get around to checking out the series, it'll likely be far in the future (my schedule's already quite packed in anticipation for a lot of other things I'm bursting at the seams to bring to y'all). I've made a note on your suggestion though - I appreciate your input 🐍
Seeing her pretty makes me happy 🥰
There’s a secret room in the wardens office. As you enter the area where Zasz’s body was, look to the left and you’ll see a blank wall. Place 3 explosive gels on the wall. It doesn’t matter where you place them as long as they’re overlapping each other. Detonate them and the wall will be destroyed revealing a secret room with clues to the next game.
Also, when you return to the morgue where Ras Al Ghoul’s body was there will be a surprise there for you.
Did you notice this? Mark Hamill…mARK HAMill…ARKHAM.
Why are you playing this game now? it was released in 2009. I'm just curious.
I saw the game again; I liked what I saw again; so I decided to play it again!
Easy decision 😁
@Kastaclysm I see. Thought it was your very first time
let's go 🔥👀
I'm like #700!!
But i made the comment uneven 101😭
Any spiderman game in the theater near you?
Soon?
No Spider-Man in any theater near me 😊
@Kastaclysm aww
.. You're so good playing Batman, I thought "surely, surely this young lady will or have played Spider-Man!".
I'm in love with you baby. 😘😍
of course, comics are still going on, also Talia is Damian wayne's mother ( the fifth Robin and Batmans son)
Now explain Helena Bertinelli :S
That's the fourth Robin.
Richard, Jason, Tim, and then Damian.
@@Jason-to1xp Stephanie Brown is the 4. Robin
@@Jason-to1xpYou’re forgetting Stephanie Brown, friend.
“The correct position in life”riddle can only be found using detective mode.
I gotta say, I love the “If at first you don’t succeed, use more explosives” attitude
1:41:59 The introduction of Ra's Al Ghoul was when Batman returned to his darker roots, showcasing one of the best duals in comics between Batman and Ra's Al Ghoul. During the 1950s, comics, in general, became much more campy and light-hearted thanks to the introduction of the Comics Code Authority in 1954 as a reaction to the widespread public concern over graphic violence and horror imagery in comic books. Cities even organized public burnings and bans on comic books, which was a big deal. So, from the 1950s to the 1960s, comics were censored heavily, giving birth to a light-hearted Batman that was used as the basis for the 1960s Batman TV series featuring Adam West.
The start of the 1970s is also known as the Bronze Age of comics (1970 to 1985), a time when censorship was much softer, allowing for stories like Spider-Man: The Night Gwen Stacy Died (1973), often credited as being the start of the Bronze age of comics thanks to its massive impact on the world of comics and overall dark narrative for the time. For Batman, Batman #227 (1970) was the beginning of Batman's return to his roots, following a more gothic-style horror narrative set within a mansion inspired by the return of horror comics at the start of this decade. But yeah, this, along with Batman #232 (1971) with Ra's Al Ghoul being introduced, is extremely important in how they returned Batman to his darker roots after two decades of more campy stories.
1:43:48 Yeah, Ra's Al Ghoul was featured in the Nolan trilogy played by Liam Neeson, but his character was considerably stripped of the more magical/supernatural elements. Nolan wanted a real-life scenario take on Batman, including Gotham City and his villains. So instead of Ra's being a "nearly" immortal who uses the powers of the Lazarus pit to keep his youth and strength, he's instead just an ordinary mortal person with the name Ra's Al Ghoul being based down like a title by many people. In future films, he lived on within Bruce's mind, with the Lazarus pit itself being a prison within a hole. If you escape by climbing out of this deep hole, you are, in theory, reborn from that experience. Nolan's Trilogy was "What if Batman existed within the real world?".
In those films, they also connected Bane closer to Ra's Al Ghoul, having him be born within the Pit and becoming a member of Ra's League alongside his daughter. Bane was also visually VERY different, lacking his iconic Latin appearance, accent, and luchador mask while removing the whole Venom aspect of his character, which increased his size to that of a hulking beast. But they nailed his intelligence in Dark Knight Rises. It was a very different bane from what people are used to in comics, animated shows, and games. It's a shame that Tom Hardy's Bane, thanks to Dark Knight Rises, is what many mainstream audiences think Bane is like in the comics. But regardless, it's a unique take. Hopefully, one day, we'll see a comic-accurate luchador, Bane, with his Latin accent and Venom.
For some of the riddles you need to stay into detective mode
It seems i‘m your favourite, how interesting, tell me something, what scares you the most? 🎃
😨😨😨
Great to see you enjoying these games! As far as the Riddler clues go, while they are tedious (especially City and Knight), I would still recommend finding them all in all the games. The Riddler segments are pretty important to the continuity of the games so it's definitely worth trying to find them all to have a more complete experience.
Lowkey one of my favorite aspects of the Arkham games is being able to watch Riddler's mental decline as the games go on. Poor guy can't handle Batman solving all his riddles, lol.
The collectables here aren't too bad. I actually enjoyed them unlike in many other games.
The maps made most easy to find, and there was a good variety of object hunting, listening to interesting tapes, and uncovering the secret of the island.
Alright, been watching some gameplay (specifically Arkham Asylum) and I'm dropping a subscription 💯
Btw the game saves when you go into a different room / building / district.
The little papers, leaves, etc doing the weird floating thing is an NVIDIA PhysX problem. Turning that particular setting off in the graphics settings will fix it.
I love how much you investigate in your playthroughs and have your own theories as you keep playing if you want you could watch some of the animated movies with Kevin conroy voicing batman or some of the animated epsiodes like I am the Night is amazing psychological episode one about Bruce. Just hearing his voice again is peak ^^
1:10:15 There is one hidden in the game that has a teaser for the next game behind it.
1:01:25 -- if you had positioned Batman ever so slightly, you would have seen a hidden question mark.
I'm excited for this episode. Also seeing you Kastaclysm truly makes me so happy 😊❤🎉
Roman Sionis is like the only person living in Gotham that has brown eyes. everyone else has blue eyes.
I am loving this playthrough! It's really rare to find UA-camrs who play this game and actually get themselves invested into the story like you are. Most players just talk about the graphics or the gameplay or barely touch on the story, while you seem genuinely interested in every detail of the design that went into it. And on top of that, you're good at playing it, too XD
I have found that on UA-cam, the Venn diagram with people who are good at the gameplay and the people who care about the story deeply are completely separate, except for you and maybe one other channel I've seen.
It actually took me a few playthroughs and a few Let's Play series of the Arkham games to really truly appreciate them for what they are. They're actually the reason I started reading the comics myself; when I saw the "First Appearance" notes in the character bios, they intrigued me so much that I wanted to check out each one of them, in order. Then I decided to just read through all the comics altogether. Unfortunately, that's really hard to do with all of DC at the same time because there's so much content to it, so I stuck with Batman and Batman-related series. And when I say Batman-related, I mean there's at least a dozen other series based on other characters from the Bat-family: Nightwing got himself a few volumes of his own series, same with Robin, and Batgirl, and a bunch of others, and they all seemed to fit together in a lot of ways. It took me a couple years to get from the beginning just to the comics from 2015. I still have a while to go before I catch up to the present. But either way, totally worth it if you read them yourself.
You said something great about the fear leaving when you know. Same principle applies to horror movies. The moment they show the monster, its less scary.
I also love seeing someone try to do all these riddler things. Its a lot of fun. And so satisfying when you get them all.
Have a wonderful time in England Maggie.. Thanks for uploading this while your gone.
Thanks for watching while I was gone!!
Another great video Maggie and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I love the panic you had trying to find a way to eventually use the chandelier to smash the glass, only to realise there was no bomb and Joker’s ‘timer’ was nonexistent😂. Keep it going Maggie, enjoy your trip away👍.
While i was watching this, i was really hoping she wasn't paying attention enough that the scarecrow encounter would catch her off guard.
But she is too good, and the scarecrow part of this game is too memorable no matter how long it's been since you last played this game.
Loved the video! Can't wait for the next one! 🦇💙
For a game that’s 15 years old it still holds up well. I always get misty eyed seeing this particular part. Being gassed by Scarecrow and walking down the hallway that slowly changes into alley where Thomas and Martha Wayne killed where everything changed. For Batman to change back to 8 year old Bruce it shows that Bruce truly died with his parents that night and all that is left is Batman.
Can’t wait for the whole Batman Arkham series! World’s greatest detective! Maggie you’re doing great!
Joker Origin Although a number of backstories have been given, a definitive one has never been established for the Joker. An unreliable narrator, the character is uncertain of who he was before and how he became the Joker: "Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another ...if I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!, A story about the Joker's origin appeared in Detective Comics #168 (February 1951), more than decade after the character's debut. Here, the character is a laboratory worker who becomes the Red Hood (a masked criminal) to steal $1 million and retire. He falls into a vat of chemical waste when his heist is thwarted by Batman, emerging with bleached white skin, red lips, green hair and a permanent grin
Kastaclysm Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
This game is something else. I thought Arkham Knight was the best game but this one is not bad at all! 😋
Arkham city is the best one
@@KeelahSelai161 City is overrated
SKOL 🙏. This is another 5 ⭐ 2 thumbs up video, Kastaclysm.Keep it up.
I think I love you lol young Frankenstein is my favorite movie
Get to higher vantage points and use detective vision to find those riddles that elude u
I know this has nothing to do with the game. But you’re gorgeous.
1:48:27 he’s obsessed with fear 😰
You are my absolute favorite Let's Player on this platform. I'm just waiting for you to do a game series I'm interested in because I love your commentary :')
Hiiiiiii😊
👋😊
Aww my favourite game remember playing this game.Happy days remember hearing Mark Hamill maid his version of the joker darker then the the cartoon version. Also based it on Claud Rains portrayal of the invisible man Also the story of Arkham came from the comic Arkham Asylum where it had his original story.
I saw your channel & have been watching your Asylum gameplay for the past few days. Do you except help & tips? When it comes to Riddlers Riddles, use detective mode, there's invisible question marks where you have to align the question marks to get the riddle. And in the Wardens office, scan the Scarface doll in the case & pick up the riddler map next to it on the table. And there's a secret room in the office if you blast the left side of the wall you entered multiple times at the right spots
Your catching on to the Riddler's riddles, certain things in the environment that are not like the others that tie into a character or an invisible question mark to line up in detective mode, speaking of riddles. "Isn't the Warden too old for a puppet show?" translation: Who am I and where am I placed in the Warden's office? Also there's a Riddler Map in the office
Another amazing playthrough and your hair is so beautiful Kastaclysm ❤❤😁😁.
I know you can get 100 percent completion!!! Good Luck ❤❤😁
I'm not sure if you're aware, but unlike some the movies, Joker doesn't wear any make-up. In fact, during his first encounter with Batman, he accidentally falls in a vat of acidic chemicals and as a result his entire skin is permanently bleached white and his hair is turned naturally green. He doesn't wear any make-up whatsoever.
Notification gang is here 😎💯
Ayyyyy early squad 😅
1:40 you said you'd do a clean up episode on ff7 rebirth. Still got a quest, gilgamesh and queensblood.
Fret not! The FF7 cleanup is still on my radar
As a kid my dad still had his old comics, and I thought comics were like VHS 😂 just things that didn’t exist anymore
I'm gonna be a dork and help a smaller UA-camr out. She's called Moonscrazy and just started playing Arkham. Thought I'd give her a mini shoutout anyone looking for another Arkham player :)
You're right about the voice of Dr. Young she is voiced by Cree Summer who also did the voice of Cleo on Clifford
Also Susie Carmichael in Rugrats
2:11:25 You're absolutely right - she's the voice of Cleo in Clifford.
🤯!!!
🔥
Excited for this playthrough! Can’t wait for you to get to the killer croc part. I was terrified of going through that part when I first played the game 😂
It’s no secret that the Joker is every Batman fan’s favorite villain. When you look at it, Batman and Joker aren’t all that much different from each other. They’re two sides of the same coin. I really like how the writers focused the first game exclusively about Arkham Asylum. It shows how focused on the doctors working tirelessly to try rehabilitating Batman’s foes. However, the irony is that Batman himself is insane because when you step back and look at it, he’s a grown man dressed up as a Bat who hides behind a mask and lurks in the shadows and preys upon criminals to avenge his parents’ murder. And one insane person cannot help rehabilitate another insane person. The part where Batman speaks to the doctor about Zsasz, he speaks from experience that it’ll be hard to cure him because not everyone can be saved. Bruce Wayne had Alfred and his family to help support him through the whole ordeal whereas Joker lost everything and it pushed him over the edge. Both of them come from a traumatic background and both had “one very bad day” which made them who they are. They are the perfect opposite of one another where If Batman turned evil, Joker would turn good. One can’t live without the other. It’s what makes the storyline so perfect and the performances of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill pull your heartstrings in a way you can feel connected to them.
This might be an unpopular opinion but i hated the dark knight movies. To me they did not represent batman or the villians very well, the worst was the newest one with riddler. The actor chosen for that role just was not good at all. I remember bursting out laughing when he attempted his "evil" laugh. He was better than jim carry, but still not done right. Imo my favorite villians and batman was in oeigins. The villians are truly evil and batman is unhinged. It was the first time i said to myself: "oh, so the joker actually IS pretty bad and not just a comic relief."
