The pain in Joaquin’s voice in that 911 call made me choke, so sad. Rip.

He was and is an old eternal soul

I named my son Phoenix in honor of River Phoenix. He is 17 now. RIP River Phoenix. 27 years ago tomorrow is when you died. Such a very sad day 😢
Beautiful name. Joaquin named his son River.
@@Iceis_Phoenix awww that is so sweet 😢
@Nico Toscani my sister in law fought me on the name River because she wanted to name her next child that. That’s why I settled for Phoenix and I am happy I did. She did have a child again and didn’t name her kid River. My son is 17 now.
Named my daughter Meadow Rain after River Phoenix Sister Rain.
@Nico Toscani wow. You have it all planned out. Good names guy.
His dad John Lee Bottom tried to save him but he was overuled by his wife. River said in an interview: "My father is worried that we could be ruined by this business. It's got a lot of pitfalls and temptations, and he doesn't want us to become materialistic and lose all the values we were brought up believing in." And the saddest thing is that the year he died his dad had tried to get him out of Hollywood and River agreed to do it.
John could remain silent no longer and said in an interview after Rivers death "I could see Hollywood was eating him up, bleeding him dry," he said. "I told him I wanted him out of movies. I had been urging him to quit for some time. I had seen too many brilliant kids go down and I realized he couldn't buck the system. I thought it was time for him to stop." By now, John had 'dropped out' and had just opened a vegan restaurant in Costa Rica. He tried to persuade River and his other children to help him run it. "I had opened my place as a vegan restaurant - and things were buzzing,"
"The idea was for them to spend more time here, helping with the cooking, making music, writing, harvesting the organic fruit and living off the land like we used to." River actually agreed. He would retire as soon as he fulfilled his duties with 'Dark Blood' and 'Interview With The Vampire'. "As it turned out - that was too many," recalled John with irony. "Just before he left, I'll always remember, he told me, 'I'll see you after this movie, Dad'. Well, he did. Only he was in a box." He went on to say: "We all feel guilt, everyone who knew River. Not a day goes by when I don't think long and hard about River's death and ask myself why."
He has a soft spot for his dad, I read that he viewed him more like a younger sibling than a father figure, he was the one that took responsibility of the family.
It makes perfect sense. At leats, the father had good values. The mother on the other hand was just a "free spirit" that allow his kid to do whatever he wanted to do. So sad.
His dad sensed he was in trouble or danger. Like a lot of loving parents he tried to help but it was already too late.
@AM-be1ov nothing "free" about that mother. She saw her kids as a Money Making Commodity. Sickening to see her with her toy boy smiling away. A Narcissist, she used her son to parrot her beliefs & keep her. So full of herSELF. She consigned him, turned him to ashes, didn't even waste any money on a grave. He was no longer of use to her - presume tho that she & the toy boy got his money.
His dad was part of the problem. Those poor kids had to support their family, and their idiot cult family. Up til the day he died he had 30 plus people to support is crazy.
I’ve watched quite a few of the “final hours” documentaries: Natalie Wood, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Anna Nicole, etc. One detail that metaphorically screams to me from each one is the blatant lack of inaction by the people with the person dying. The people who were supposed to care about the victims all seemed to bumble around like brainless idiots, worrying about their own asses, and not even attempting to save a life. Like they just hoped it would all go away? It’s absolutely unconscionable…nobody searching for Natalie Wood for hours as she drowned in frozen water, Janis Joplin’s “pal’s” let her walk home alone in the dark of LA to a lonely hotel room, Jim Morrison’s friend watched him collapse in a stairwell, and when Jim is conscious again, the friend took off, left him alone in spite of claiming to observe how sick Jim seemed…Anna Nicole died literally under some woman’s nose, and then when her employees realized she wasn’t breathing they made around 6 stupid phone calls before someone at the hotel desk has the sense to call to 911…and poor River…he told people , “too much”…he was vomiting…he was passing out…and they shoved him out the side door and locked it…nobody in the club called for an ambulance!! In all these cases it’s likely the people would have been saved if anyone close to them would have bothered to do SOMETHING. The senselessness makes the losses even more tragic. How much more would these talented people have given our world if they’d had people looking out for them?
They were all addicted....they wouldn't listen to nothing...I miss all of them too...
As someone who lost their brother young to addiction, I can attest - addicts do not listen. Advice falls onto deaf ears. Truthfully, you simply do not know if these people offered rehabs and ambulances and the addict aggressively refused or threatened them if they did. The exact same happened with Amy Winehouse and Mac Miller. People insisted on helping, begged to help them, tried to step in, but at the end of the day they were all adults and made an adult decision. There's also no telling if they would have been saved with intervention. Addiction is bigger than all of us. As human beings, we haven't found ways to get through to someone who is at the height of their addiction yet. I hope one day we do. Because people like River Phoenix, and those shooting stars that always die tragically young, will not be the last that will fall into the deep, vile traps of alcohol and drug addiction. Let's just hope they go onto something better, where they're endlessly loved and valued.
Saying this, this documentary is wrong. He didn't snort cocaine. He was given a poisoned speedball drink by John Frusciante. He was basically murdered and I'm not totally sure how he's never been charged with River's death.

'Stand by me' was - or is - one of my favorites of Stephen King's movies
There are no Stephen King movies. He has simply sold the rights to some of his books to be adapted to film. He has said several times that he hates most of the movies. The one he hates the most is The Shining. I also thought it was a horrible movie. That is how authors make money though, they sell book rights, and he is worth around half a billion, and is one of the few authors to get rich from book sales. Most authors get rich from selling books for film, but he would still be rich without the movies.

God bless River Phoenix forever such a good kind soul such a genuine actor it's a shame he's not with us anymore 😢
Something about River that some may not know is that he was a vegetarian because of the cruelty of animals. And this was a time when celebrities were not into that lifestyle (or if they were they did not say so publicly). I think it's very unusual for a person of a very young age to continue this until the age of 23. This is very noble and is of good character. But it's a shame that the roles of him and his parents were reversed. I blame his parents for his death more than anyone.
River need a stronger and better support system: a lot of struggling addicts want, and need, someone who would watch them and stop them from falling off the wagon so to speak. River defiantly sounds like one of those cases where a supportive person or even a caretaker needed to be near to give him support. And he needed better mental health doctors to give him the treatment he needed. He needed parents who weren't looking to him to put food on the table. He needed friends who wouldn't take him to parties where the drugs where. He needed a lot of things and they all let him down.
River wasn't stupid. And he had the freedom and autonomy to make choices. He is on the path to understanding inner strength and self responsibility, not vulnerability and inner fragility.

I remember River was the first celeb I followed that died from an overdose. I had his posters all over my walls. Watched everything he was in many times. I knew about many other actors and musicians over the prior couple decades that lost the battle but due to my age it was River that hit home for me. Such a BRILLIANT human that couldn't overcome his addictions. Hell they weren't even called addictions back then. The Media didnt even talk about those issues. There was no internet and gossip mags didn't publish any kinds of addiction. Surely teen mags hid all the physical abuse/drink/dope use. Their management all portrayed them as happy go lucky people.

2 things led to his demise. Judy bullied him on the set. She made it extremely difficult for him to work with her. Then, moving the set from Utah to LA. He told the director he was heading back to a “bad, bad city.” He knew the LA scene temptations were hard to fight. He stayed clean while shooting in Utah. 😣
Judy Davis was unpleasant. River was not a Gen Z or millenial. He knew how to handle difficult people. In fact, crew have since said that River was a unifying force on that divisive set.
The problem is he had already spent years using hard drugs. That came from stressors of being parentified and supporting multiple people with the paychecks he earned from a job he no longer enjoyed.

Lisa, funny you mention that movie cause I met River & Samantha while they were filming it in Hollywood -- off Beverly Blvd near the Beverly Center. I believe it was a recording studio. I was coming back from some lady who took my polaroid for like $3 or something and promised me work as an actor or model or something. She looked like Medusa I remember & I got her info out of the Daily Bruin I think. MAYBE LA Weekly -- but I know it was late 1992. I was walking back to my car when I passed all this food set up on the street outside this studio that had a wooden outside. I started to check out the food, then started to pick out some food and ate it when all of a sudden this guy comes out. He had very well fitting clothes on and he came up to me & I apologized for eating what I presumed was his food. He said, no no its ok & we started to talk. I remember to this day his intense stare when he spoke to you. It was the most intense stare I have ever had experienced to that point in my life of 20 years (at that point) I told River I was trying to be a stand-up comic at the Comedy Store and he was quite admirable about that, and how hard it was. Sometime when we were talking Samantha came out and he introduced me. She was nice and polite but said nothing really to me. I remember talking about Robin Williams and how he allegedly stole some of his comedy -- but nothing deep. It was maybe a 5 min conversation I will never forget. What most got me was his stare or look he gave me when he spoke just to me. It was like he looked right thru me. True story I will never forget. Nicest famous person I have ever met.

1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
51:12 is the murderers name JOHN FRUSHIANTE played by "Trevor Benham in this VERY inaccurate drama. ( John gave Riv a fatal drink and bailed after River got ill)
ícҽís թհօҽղíx there was a video of john holed up in his trashed out home. johnny depp filmed it.
@@shebamaree9026 Oh I've seen it. He said River should of never been born. I hate him and I am a peaceful person.
@@Iceis_Phoenix Who said River never should have been born?
true. river was not a drug user at least not according to autopsy report, his organs were healthy it says, his nose intact, no marks of heroin abuse on the body. its sad how hard some people were working in HW to cover this up.
If this is true then why isn’t he in jail and why is everyone covering for him?
So terrible, such a great actor.
Ya...devastated. complete shock when you get a phone call that someone in your family has passed. Surreal shock syndrome I named it. Life almost just goes blank. A different kind of hurt. R.I.P River.
@chris falkenberg right on point. Perfect. But still, so many don't get it or they just don't pay attention. Our government and the higher ups, they are all SCUM. Running this country how they please, ruining it, destroying it and our allies at the same time. China has supassed us in every way shape and form. They, will be the new world leaders. America and it's greed is bringing us to our knees. We will be begging other countries for help. But we won't get it. Why?? Because, we think we are top dogs, the best country. But we are not. Not anymore. We have been thrown to the wayside. Pushed out. Greed is eating this country alive. Most can't even afford oil for heat right now!!!! So instead of giving tax breaks, or lowering prices on things, our Maine governor decided to send out PAPER checks!!!!!! For $450. Wow. It cost them $180,000 to write out all those checks. They could have saved around 80 grand if they deposited it in ppls banks, or just sent the money to the oil companies. But our gal Janet Mills wanted her name and note on the paper checks. Letting us all know it was her that helped us. Now, obviously they have frivolous money to do things in a manner that cost almost 100,000$ extra. Rediculas. Sickening. ALL the governments and higher ups need to be flushed out. Start anew. They all have hired family and made ties and trust bonds and secret societies to keep the money exactly where they want it. And to keep the average American needing help from them of some kind. It's very sad OUR country, is not there for us. The fact we go and blow up other places, pay millions to blow them up, then pay billions to fix em back up and rebuild the one's we just blew up!!!! America has felt like number one for way too long. Now we are being shown otherwise. Our president is destroying this country as well. In 2 years he's caused more problems than the last 10 presidents.
Do more of these I love them ! 🤟🏽
My sister and I had River Phoenix Posters on our wall , alongside Kirk Cameron, Corey Haim , New Kids on the Block , Mc Hammer , New Edition, Bobby Brown (solo) etc .
Yeah they want you to idolize people that are off the rails usually or sexually perverse. They do it to all of us, try to pull us into their filth from a young age. The devil is like a roaming lion seeking whom he may devour.
River looks like a victim much like Haim was of abuse, and drugs were his outlet, rumors are that he was intentionally killed by Pedowood elites and i tend to believe it.
I miss him he was one of the greats
RIP

"He trusted too many people and in the end it killed him"
love you always River❤️

pretty sure too many drugs at once is what killed him imho

How? And what motive?
That was a heartbreaking way to go
Rip River ❤. Thank you for teaching ne acoustic guitar ❤
That’s a very sad story. I remember hearing the news of his death back in 1993.
Wow my dad told me it was my 2 years birthday and he was so sad and distracted to celebrated and til the day he died on my birthdays it's also Rivers anniversary

Love learning from videos like this
the role he played in Stand By Me seemed made for him
The pain in Joaquin’s voice during that 911 call broke my heart…Rest in Peace River 🕊🤍
I don’t even know how to feel about this. ♥️
Unfinished desire ends with careless of celebrity status. So sad. RIP River. Condolences to his family and friends.
River, sad, so very sad. That 911 call, it all was very devastating.💜😢💜
Sometimes life and art can too closely resemble one another. River, you are missed and beloved O:-)
Samantha’s squeal of shock shook me. So sad. R.I.P. 46:10
John Frusciante is the one who gave him the speedball. And Johnny Depp protected him to protect his club from the scrutiny. No reason John shouldn't have done some time for manslaughter. The woman who gave John Belushi a fatal speedball did.
Depp is good at covering his skeletons up.
@@poundpuppy0188 I think too
Why would Jon ever do this? They were close friends. Was it an accident? What was this drink mixed with? How did they get the heroin cocaine to dissolve without alcohol? Which was not in the system. What was the deal about John Belushi?
Sorry for all the questions lol I just really wanna know what happened
River was a grown man he is responsible for his own choices it's nobody's fault but his own he didn't have to drink it it wasn't forced on him.. so stop
Unfortunately looking for a escape all the time can lead to this just devastation to the fullest RIP fella
River Phoenix was my everything at age 13 💔💔
It’s so disturbing to think someone could’ve set him up to replace him. He seemed like such a humble man. I get they didn’t know what to do because of the sudden events but a whole 5 minutes? He had a higher chance of survival.
Yes and no narcan in those days
God bless you River Phoenix
Rip River
Check out Autopsy the final days of River Phoenix. A doctor goes over the autopsy report but just gives straight facts. John Frusciante definitely gave him the lethal cocktail in a cup and Johnny Depp knew about it. There’s a compelling theory that the result of his death boosted quite a few careers to replace him.
Absolutely, he would've made the best Captain Jack Sparrow for one..
@@HamiBud stop the cap
@@HamiBud River was supposed to play Jack Dawson in Titanic. Funny how Leo was present at the club that night when River died. I think he was there to watch.
The truth is coming out soon about all of this and people won't be able to deceive others about it anymore. The guilty will pay.
Can't find that episode anywhere. Do you have a link?
@@tiffanys.5010 lol how tf do you think he was going to be the lead in a movie that came out 4 years after he died 😂
"People that just wanted to see Johnny Depp play. You know, some giggly, teeny-bopie kind of girls." - I know this documentary is meant to be sad, but that made me chuckle and is my favorite line in the video. 😂
Frusciante gave the death cup to River; but someone who worked at the Viper Room, gave the cup to John F, to give to River. Maybe even the owner of the club.
I miss him so much 😢
💜River Forever🦋Love you sweet Angel💜May you rest peacefully💜😘💜
God this is so painful to watch. Hope he's in better place now rip
River reminds me a lot of James Dean. Similar looks and Acting Style. They were both very sensitive and good at emoting.
He’s nothing like James Dean .
It's sad that the young man was in search of some kind of sense of belonging. Like the other kids, searching for love and care. No one led him to the right path. Poor kid, his talent wasn't enough to be smart to determine the difference between right and wrong. It's understandable that he was young and impulsive. So sad he wasted his opportunities and future.
It has nothing to do with how smart he is... what an uneducated ignorant thing to say
Even the most intelligent person will be susceptible to things like this when facing so much turmoil in life, especially people who work in hollywood. By now you should know this is a common theme for those who work in Hollywood, even the best of the best get dragged down it has nothing to do with his age or intelligence
I don't understand why Judy Davis disliked him and treated him the way she did .
Some people just don't like drug addicts. Usually it's because of personal experiences.
@@msj9097
It had nothing to do with river, it was all because she didn’t like the Director
I had heard it was all to do with the Director she disliked, and she was just a real B to River, maybe it was because he was into drugs
@@jeanniemotherof3 she sounds like a real piece of work.....sad he had to put up with such a person
@@msj9097
Yeah, I just remember William Ricart saying River was so sensitive, no one had ever treated him like that, he was loved by all in Hollywood. It was also one of the reasons he wanted to do dark blood, because he kind of admired her work, and was excited to costar with her, so it was like a double whammy so to speak. Sad
What a tragic loss
Rest In Peace☹️
Poor rive so sad my heart goes out to the family😥😥😥😫😫😫😫😫😫😥😥😥😫
Isn’t this false?
I’m sure the more common conception is he had his drink spiked.
There were no burn marks in his nostrils to suggest he snorted anything and people have said that drugs were added to his drink without his knowledge.
I tend to believe he was killed as well. Idk what the motivation was, satanic sacrifice, if he was going to talk about the abuse he endured, if he rejected something his handlers demanded... who knows.
He had no ethanol, alcohol in his system
