I really like your video's but I have to correct one thing here having just done this job myself as part of a series of tasks to get the car ready for MOT (Gibraltar car). Unlike the E60 in the video mine is an E61 but I assumed they were the same and the title does say E60/61. My car is a LHD 2007 pre face-lift 525d. I was messing about for ages trying to find the adjuster at the 6 o'clock position. After 30 mins or so getting into a rage I pulled the caliper, carrier bracket and disc to find it was in the 9 o'clock position on the passenger side (UK drivers side). Once I had that figured out, adjusted it and put everything back together the other side was easier so I did that through the wheel nut hole. On that side - my drivers side/UK passenger side it is in the 3 o'clock position.
@JacobRusty-clogg Hi there, thank you so much for the comment and advice it will definitely help others out and i have learnt something new👍🏻 thanks again!
No problem. Big fan.

@@TheBimmerFixerit did help me, thanks both. I also have a LHD E61 and, thanks to this comment, found that mine was also in line with the middle of the caliper (9 o’clock/3 o’clock).
Brilliant video as always mate 👌.
@Matthew Barnes Thanks Matthew once again for you loyal continued support of the channel really appreciated it! 👍🏻
Great video thanks a lot ! 😉👍🏻
@davegavin7914 Thanks appreciate it!! 😃👍🏻
Good job buddy 😊
@samuelsilvester39 Thank you mate! 😊
Thanks for the video it helped alot although I'm still stuck,
Tried everything above and all seems ok on both wheels, but my handbrake still isn't engaging.
Pulling it all the way up and still not engaging
Is there something else that can be done?
@MrDirtydonuts Hi there thanks for the comment. Ok it that case I would adjust it from the base of the handbrake itself under the gaiter. If you haven't already, give that a go and let me know how you get on 👍🏻
@@TheBimmerFixer Cheers for the quick response mate appreciate that 👍
Yeah il try that in the morning, pulled my handbrake up today but it went past its usual 4/5 clicks and I heard a 'plink'.
Now it's clicks all the way up but nothing happening even after following your vid (which was a massive help btw 👍) and adjusting the shoes which seem to be fine.
@MrDirtydonuts No problem happy to help! Yeah give it a go mate failing that a cable could have stretched or snapped but that doesn't happen that often. Fingers crossed its just the adjustment on the handbrake.
@@TheBimmerFixerok so pulled the car apart today and pushed the spring back under the handbrake (was all the way out), then went to the rear and repeated the process but put the handbrake up 4 clicks first, then tightened the cogs in the hub so they were locked hoping when I release the handbrake the shoes would release, unfortunately still nothing. Any more suggestions I'm totally stumped unless the shoes are worn but they don't seem to be because they are locking with the cog turn. Doesn't seem like a snapped cable either 🤦
@MrDirtydonuts hmmmm ok 🤔 has everything in the hub been blasted with brake cleaner?
Mine was loose with 8 clicks even so took it to garage and still 5_6 clicks and goes forward on drive at traffic lights .
So go back one click from full tight ?
Then test on lever?
@ed Hi ed, yeah one click back from full tight and work back from there 👍🏻
On my 07 e61 lci the adjustment screw is next to the caliper not on the bottom
@hanspn Ah ok that's interesting. What engine is your e61?
@hanspn I'm wondering if its an engine or LCI thing.
@@TheBimmerFixer it’s an M47 2007 lci 520d Station wagon,manual transmission
@hanspn Cool, I think the change was brought in when the Lci came out. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 good to know!
There is ment to be a spring under handbrake lever that needs locked down before you adjust shoes at rear, was that done?
@the chameleon Hi, yeah it was but something I completely missed out in the video. I need to pin a comment just to let people know! Thank you for the comment it will definitely help people out 👍🏻👍🏻
@@TheBimmerFixer no probs I'm about to replace all shoes, springs etc and adjust to hope it fixes an annoying clunk at rear, I'm thinking there loose and worn and moving as I pull off
@the chameleon Great stuff! I was talking with a subscriber not too long ago and they did the exact same thing to solve the clunk in the rear and it worked a treat! Good luck and hope it solves the problem 👍🏻
i`ve been watching other utubers videos on this procedure and a LOT of them state that you have to depress a spring INSIDE the car, located underneath the handbrake lever, who`s correct me old mucker ?
@t5jerry Hi Buddy! So yeah absolutely you can adjust it under the handbrake but it usally doesn't give you the same amount of adjustment than if you did it from the hub. Given that your adjustment screw in your hub is being a trouble child it might be worth giving that a go. Let me know how you get on 👍🏻
@@TheBimmerFixer no, you misunderstand my message, if you look 5.10 into THIS video you`ll understand what i mean me old cock sparrow............ua-cam.com/video/YgMlBzdKLyA/v-deo.html
What's up with the rotor on the passenger side rear? It looked like it needs to be replaced.
@SanityOne You're not wrong there. It's definitely on my to do list I was sent a set of rotors but they were the wrong ones but i will be changing soon.
Do you know how to do in Lci automat. When i stop the car and take the key out the car is going to P mode. I cant rotate the disc to feel if the shoes sits tight
Hi, mine is an automatic too I put the shifter into Neutral and left the key in the ignition. This should work for you too 👍
@@TheBimmerFixer jes i test it. Thanks for Quick answer
@90umit You're very welcome.
i know this is gonna sound daft, but i can`t find the bloody adjuster wheel for the rear drum brake on my LCI 2010 e61, i`ve looked with a torch, found the end of the spring, but just can`t see it anywhere, i have a feeling it may be rounded off?
@t5jerry you're not sounding daft mate I know the feeling. Hopefully it hasn't been rounded of by someone and its just hinding from you!
@@TheBimmerFixer well it must have been trained by the S.A.S and must also be wearing a ghillie suit suit because it seems to be M.I.A 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@t5jerry 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 absolutely cracking up!! You ex forces by any chance? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@TheBimmerFixer no, not me mate, 🤣🤣😅😅
@t5jerry 🤣🤣🤣 just the end of that spring has then 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What should I do if after I tighten it it begins to squick
@Agripin Gutierrez If you loosen it back off ever so slightly it should stop👍🏻
