My £500 Jaguar XJ Project is (ALMOST) Complete | Saving A Bargain Modern Classic From The Scrapheap

- In part three of my £500 Jaguar XJ (XJ350) project, things are finally coming together. For the first time on the Fuel Up Classic channel, I can present to you a nearly complete modern classic.
The result of countless hours of work, replacement parts, and endless frustration feels all worthwhile. We're finally on the home straight with this bargain Jaguar but have we blown the budget in bringing this big cat back to life and what is left to do?
It's been a lot of hard work, but I can't help to think that it's always better to save a classic than simply buy something new - what do you think? - Авто та транспорт
Congratulations! You have done very well. I do love all Jaguars and one that is being fixed like this, well, ♥.
Thank you very much!
I have an '06 XJ8 with 64,000kms. I've owned it for 16 yrs and it still dives like new. However, as we live in Alberta, Canada, it goes into hibernation in early November and isn't woken up until May.
It hasn't been out on wet roads for the whole of my ownership!!
I still love to drive it, it's beautiful.
They're wonderful cars and yours sounds like a great example. Hope you continue to enjoy it for many years and miles to come.
Great job, looks lovely. I might of tried a silver grill on it
Thank you.
Well done fro persevering. I was one of those who thought this could go either way but I’m glad it’s been given a new lease of life. Of recent I’ve been finding myself battling through issues on my own cars of this era & sometimes despairing but one by one I’m tackling them & learning along the way.
Thank you for watching! I think we're finally on the home straight with the old jag now. Completely understand, sometimes you have to (mostly for the sake of your sanity) try and tackle one job at a time and learn as you go, otherwise it can seem like a never ending task! Best of luck with your projects.
(Once it's fixed) It's always fun diagnosing and fixing an older car. Well done she does look good.
Thank you, it's slowly getting there! Much more satisfying to keep improve an old car and keep it going than simply replacing it.
Excellent restoration. This is Jaguar! I would like to see this car running next time. Thank you🙏
Thank you, it is very nearly finished! More videos to come.
@@fuelupclassicRoad trip!
Great job... I notice you are missing two N/S headlight washer jet holders... They can be difficult to locate but are available on the net and you can also get them 3D printed in a neutral colour and get them sprayed.
That's brilliant, thank you! I've been searching for some replacements but they are hard to get hold of. Good to know 3d printed ones available.
Congrats on progress so far, you've worked hard since the last video - will look forward to the next instalment !
Thank you for watching. It's slowly getting there and HOPEFULLY I am on the home straight with it now!
very nice, mister sir!
Thank you!
I would have liked to see those videos of the repair process… it’s seeing the actual struggle that makes it real
Unfortunately I think the struggle might have made it unfit for UA-cam haha! I will be sure to include more of the repair process with my other projects.
Great job so far! Just a few finishing touches and you're there! Well done.
Thank you Paul! Certainly feels like the bulk of the work is now done. Very much looking forward to completing the final finishing touches now. Hopefully it won't throw any unwanted surprises in the meantime!
Looking good well done
Thank you! It's almost there now.
Looking good Bud 👍
Thanks 👍
Great job mate
Thank you, it's slowly getting there.
Well done for saving this Jag. I have just bought exactly the same model and age and in good condition for £2K so pricing I think you are about right. I am getting my wheels refurbished. These cars are the ultimate of the UK
Enjoy :) they are really great cars.
hi there, im from norway, back in 2009 i bought a jaguar xj8 1998 model in L.A, took it the year later up to Canada, then to norway, it have had the engine lamp on off for 15 years, its now in poland, they changed the chain ans some other parts, and now its in the paint shop
Sounds as though you've been on quite the journey with your XJ8. Enjoy :)
Nice one Matt
Thank you Vince, I think we're nearly on the home straight with the it now.
Nice result. Would have been great to see the process.
Will definitely be including more of the process with some of my other projects. Thank you for watching.
Beware if rust in the older cars as well..my 1997 had corrosion on certain spots.
Ohh yes! Rust on old Jaguars is something I know only too well. Luckily my 1985 XJ lives in a heated garage and isn't used during the winter months to try and prevent rust as much as possible.
The X350 XJ is constructed of aluminium and seems to hold up much better than it's predecessors, but subframes can corrode.
Thank you for watching.

BMWs also have hedgehogs like that !
I had to replace mine on my old E39. It was a massive pain in the arse.
I had to lay face-up in the car's foot well to access it.
Ahh yes! It was exactly that - laying over the door sill and trying to work right in the depths of the foot well - my ribs hurt for days afterwards! One thing I did notice whilst in there was that if it ever needs a new heater matrix, it looks like a truly horrible job!

Still, better than paying someone to change it.
It's how I get to run half-decent cars.
