The reason WHY energy commandos have to spend on average double the amount of AP in VATs compared to ballistic commandos, I’ll never understand. Ballistic commandos get to enjoy dirt cheap VATs, more criticals, and constant stealth. So why would I ever use a normal plasma rifle or laser rifle over a handmade or fixer? The energy armor penetration patch was a step in the right direction, but if energy commandos are gonna be forced to be Rambo, at least ease their AP costs! C’mon Bethesda! There’s a whole class of awesome weapons that people are ignoring 😞
Yeah they should really be super cheap in vats, and probably should also have next to no recoil for hip-fire as well -they bounce around like crazy which is made even worse by the blinding red flash if you use any kind of sight. Really bizarre balance/design decisions.
That studio doesn't know how to balance shit, that's why. @JonRush1977 likes to listen to feedback, feel free to tweet him. I think they should buff weapons more often, that would breath new life into the game.
The best LR I have used is a Q.FFR.15CRT. On things like bosses you can start with VATS head shots and as soon as AP is drained it immediately transitions to aimed and sustained fire. Once you get used to the mechanic it becomes very easy to use as a daily. Tesla (ideally quad) + LR + SCI perks has opened the door for a commando energy build that has long been hard to achieve. Thanks Turtle!
Yeah people sleep on how powerful an automatic tesla gets, especially if you have a quad. Free aim with no perks at all and it still does really good dps, let alone combined with perks and crits..
Problem is energy weapons require too many perk cards for maximum damage. Laser, Tesla, plasma rifles need commando and science perks. It's entirely do-able but at the cost of a lot of intelligence points makes it a not entirely viable option.
The other problem is that most energy weapons are not usable to the max with stealth - the exception being the gauss rifle, but with this one you need a perfect combination of both mods (fast reload very important here) and legendary attributes (FFR also helpful in addition) , while a Rifleman build is mandatory. Automatic, Quad and FFR Tesla rifles are Commando-only weapons.
It would have been amazing with the double ammo capacity some of the other weapons got. But as it is, it's just an ok laser rifle that you use until your roll better.
Or even have a way to turn regular ones into ultracite versions I don't see why it can't be a upgrade option it's literally just the same weapon but better stats

Just a heads up when you start testing the melee weapons, it seems upgrading the scythe from the season board to the sharp upgrade kills the dot damage from it
I love all 3 v63 weapons. I have a energy weapon build (rifle/heavy) because it is fun. So it is a nice addition for me. And it isn't the best roll, but good enough
Today I saw a player who launched a nuke jump off the cliff by the Hawkbill weatherstation directly into the top of the weatherstation where the N. Warfare event takes place. I followed him. We waited there until the event started and didn't have to wait in the weatherstation lobby for the event to launch. It's a good shortcut because there's been a few times that I waited in the lobby and entered the event area via the door and the game crashed.
I find it better in semi auto personally, for automatic lasers quad is a must have. sub 30 round magazine is just unworkable with their high fire rate. Also not sure if its a bug but currently ultracite laser guns do the same damage (at least in auto barrel) as normal lasers, have the same skin as normal lasers, but still have their increased fire rate and green lasers
Yep, the contextual drop rate of fusion cells in this game is really low. You have to go out of your way to acquire fusion cells and specially ultracite fusion cells.
Just run an Atlantic city expedition and use a gun that uses fusion cell. The enemies there drop like 2 or 3 times the amount of ammo then normal enemies. Its a win-win you get script, modules and ammo.
@LuciferMoringstar999 Enemies in Atlantic City are also considerably tankier than normal enemies. Even with a bloodied build, running Atlantic City expeditions I either spend more fusion cells than I get back or at best I break even. It's even worse for full HP builds. Not all ammo types have the same drop rates and efficiency in Expeditions and Daily Ops. For example, you can easily farm fuel with a Holy Fire in Antlantic City, but you can't get that kind of efficiency in Expeditions with fusion cells or 40mm.
@@LuciferWrld999 The contextual drop rates in this game are really unbalanced. There are some ammo types that are really easy to farm in Expeditions and Daily Ops, while others not so much. I would say fuel, railway spikes, cryo cells, shotgun shells, cannonballs and plasma cartridges are very easy to farm in either Expeditions or Daily Ops. There are 'intermediary' ammo types like .45, 5.56, alien blaster rounds, etc who are not as easy to farm as the ones mentioned above, but also aren't that hard to farm as the ones bellow. 40mm grenades are mainly farmable in Uplink Daily Ops if the enemies aren't super tanky (like Aliens for example). Farming 40mm in Expeditions is possible but really hard due to enemies being tanky. And lastly there are ammo like fusion cells, 2mm ec (for Gauss Miniguns), .308 (for LMG), missiles and mini nukes who are a pain to farm in either Daily Ops or Expeditions. You can try to use Gauss Shotguns to farm 2mm ec or Hunting Rifles to farm .308, but in my experience the yield is very low to be usable by their respective heavy guns. I love weapons like Laser Rifle, Gauss Minigun and LMG, but getting ammo for them requires some effort (ammo container farm routes) or expenditure of resources on your part (crafting or ammo converter). Bethesda really should tweak the contextual ammo drops for these weapons, and it's not like Laser Guns, Gauss Miniguns and LMGs are super OP.
That's a pretty nice roll on the v63-Olga you got there. Got a question for you (or anyone for that matter) Since it has +50% armor pen on it does the "Tank Killer" perk card's armor pen stack with this? I'm curious because, if it doesn't, then I need to replace the card when I'm using some weapons that have more AP then what the perk card gives. Great vid btw.
Turtle, you should try either a quad, aa, bloodied with crit dmg and less ap with the either the hair-trigger, tuned beta wave tuner with grim-reapers sprint or four-leaf and the crit cards with max luck. This weapon is all about dps and crit damage, i run it in vats full health currently, when i run my bloodied one it's even better, because i barely have any ap timeouts then lol
Perhaps some perspective is needed considering the comments. I started playing F76 again after leaving due to the garbage launch. My character is now a level 67. I got this and started using it in conjunction with a level 50 Fixer that I also just got. Other than it just rips through ammo, I get kills really fast with it. My guess is, the negative comments are based on over leveled players used to one shotting everything with a specific talored build.
If a weapon can't stealth, ammo is expensive and there's better options not much point for me other than roleplaying which is totally fine. But Tbh I really wouldn't mind if weapons were buffed just slightly and if suppressors reduced damage by the same amount to even it out, this could make other muzzles more viable especially if they didn't reduce the range so much and possibly offered something more than just recoil and bloom as some players use vats.
Seeing all those energy weapons with armor pen lately makes me wonder... Did they fix that energy weapon do not profit from armor pen at some point? When i looked up energy weapons i found a lot of posts about how energy weapons are bad as they do not profit from the penetration perks/mods. Sure they were all older but i haven't seen a single one that said the issue was fixed.
They did. It was a huge patch that brought energy commandos closer in line with ballistic commandos. However energy users still have have to on average use the double the amount of AP for the same VATs usage, as the massive -50% vats ap cost reduction comes from changing semi auto receivers to auto receivers - an aspect exclusive to ballistic rifles. So WHY ballistic rifles get to enjoy stealth AND massively cheaper vats cost I’ll never know.

I've gotten through 1 new event, other times I've tried the game crashes. It's too unstable uninstalled till fix . Also it feels like they nerfed holy fire again.
I’ve posted to Bethesda about an idea of the laser and scrapping the ultracite laser by upgrading the laser to level 50 and adding Cell Magazines of different types but still only using fusion cell. The cell magazine I suggested are - ice blue beam with snow ball impact for cryo cell - purple beam with poison on impact for poison cell - orange beam with explosive or napalm on impact for explosive/napalm on impact - green beam is ultracite if they scrap ultracite laser they could add a mod effect to the cell magazine which then add the faster fire rate when applied. I only think this because ultracite laser has been a problem and laser is lacking it’ll be nice to just make the laser a multifunction laser with a buff even suggested to add the colour of these beam to the laser on gun so people could see which cell magazine they have applied before wasting ammo
How come this would be considered a perfect roll (fine to use outside of VATS)? Is it because the AP cost is high? To me VATS is so worth it that I would then only consider a -25 % AP cost part of a perfect roll for an energy rifle :D
I wish it also had the double ammo hidden effect :( Why not? It's not, that regular laser rifles were OP anyway. They are still weaker weapons, even with science perks
Also good b50c25 and aa2525 i have both and they shred, i am so close to a quad... When you get it down to 9-10 AP cost and even if you put hair triggert capacitor it's soo gooood
Sure if you're meta chasing (boring). But otherwise they're fun because there's cool red beams flying everywhere and the enemies explode into a big red dust cloud.
@@Darkgladiat I don't play meta. I tested just about every weapon in the game in non VATS and settled for AAE LMG, TS AGL, and Autoaxe on bosses in full health PA build. I hate the fact that high level enemies are bullet sponges but I also refuse to play bloodied because it makes zero sense to run around in low health in a FO universe.
Sniper rifle. Dont try to make this a commando competitor. It’s not. It’s a perfect roll for energy snipers who wanna use up their fusion cells that drop everywhere.
I am a Plasmachad and laser enjoyer. I hate ballistics for how OP they are, and i will never use RWR because of how utterly broken OP it is. Ask me anything.
After they intentionally made laser weapons amazing to only take it away, ruined a huge aspect of this game for me. I now only play periodically to complete dailies and then I'm out. It's hard to grind a game for badass items only to have Bethesda take them away or nerf them into play-doh shooters.
Bro with all due respect but Bethesda already gave bloody build a shit ton of weapons, let the full healths have fucking fun for once, not everything revolves around your build ffs.
Laser guns in this game are just inherently mediocre regardless of how perfect the rolls are. I tried several ultracite and non-ultracite laser guns, from bloodied to quad, and they're all really meh at best. Laser guns would be more viable if farming ammo with them was worth it, but it isn't. Even with a sniper laser gun, which is the most ammo efficient, farming ammo with it in Daily Ops or Expeditions yields very little ammo. It's not worth your time, you're better off getting ammo for laser guns (be it ultracite fusion cells or normal ones) through other means. If Bethesda increased the drop rate of contextual fusion cells, then these weapons would be a bit more viable. Right now, I only use ultracite laser rifles because I like the green lasers, but their damage and especially their range are really sad, and getting ammo for them requires a bit of effort (ammo converter, crafting, etc).
I tried but fortunately I found one ultracite laser better. It has the Hunter effect, but with the +50% critical damage and -25% VATS cost, it's way better than Olga. And I use most for heal NPC because they nerfed chainsaw too much
If only the Olga also had even a 50% boost in mag size I would have liked it more.
That would make it actually worth using and I'd probably add it to my build. Why bethesda 😢
Ya it should have 50-100% more ammo
Yeah me too
Loud weapons need to have damage increased because you get NO sneak damage out of them.
We need a silent fat man
Exactly!
That’s not true. With a proper sneak build you can easily get a 2.5 sneak damage bonus. It’s not as easy as a fixer but it’s doable.

I got this gun and sold it in my vendor for 12000 caps easy sell sold in less than 4 hours lol
No luck for me yet on getting a berta drop. And I play more tesla with two shot. 😣
I got it and put a explosive round 2nd star and its totally better.
Is 25% damage while aiming working now?
It seems to be, tested it on a freind few days back
What's up with all these new weapon having fat girl names?
2:15 Did Bethesda fix it so energy weapon mods work with friendly fire? Last I knew none of them actually healed NPCs or team players.
It's not broken. friendly fire is for FIRE WEAPONS. not fire damage added on non fire weapons and not plasma
@@SilencedLamb69 It works with the bow, the crusader pistol, and the Perfect Storm 10mm SMG. All of those would be considered non-fire weapons with fire damage added on.
@@BubbleOfDoom22 I guess I learn something new everyday lol
Yes - It works with Enclave Plasma Rifle equipped with flamer barrel and severe beta wave tuner🙂
I think they should pick a weapon they like and then make EVERY weapon in the game do exactly the same damage. Shoot exactly the same range and have exactly the same AP cost. Only way you'll ever see players use what they like the look of and not just whatever youtuber says does the most damage. Specially now. Word gets out and in one day the entire game is auto axes and gamma guns. Literally went from a fun game to a nightmare over night.
Why Alligned Auto barrel does more dmg than Stabilized
Why unique paints cannot be re-applied to weapons after being swapped
A couple more of the many unsolved mysteries of Fallout 76
Hey Angry turtle I see the auto axe still brings these guys down in a matter of minutes!? Someone dropped a nuke twice yesterday and I saw at least 3-4 people with the auto axe. Do you think they’ll patch it? The event just seems so easy now it’s not even a challenge.
Thanks for the great content btw :)
I have a regular laser rifle with those same rolls.
Has anybody noticed a new bug with camp buffs? I know most only last 30 mins but well tuned and kindred spirit are dropping off at the same time 🤷🏻♂️
I've gotten through 1 new event, other times I've tried the game crashes.
The cell magazine I suggested are
- ice blue beam with snow ball impact for cryo cell
- purple beam with poison on impact for poison cell
- orange beam with explosive or napalm on impact for explosive/napalm on impact
- green beam is ultracite if they scrap ultracite laser they could add a mod effect to the cell magazine which then add the faster fire rate when applied.
Sorry but laser rifle is good with q2525 or q50c25.
Also good b50c25 and aa2525 i have both and they shred, i am so close to a quad... When you get it down to 9-10 AP cost and even if you put hair triggert capacitor it's soo gooood
@@xXxMrRazorxXx Yeah they are good too. I just don't like %25 aiming damage. That weapon needs vats. Also by 25 i mean faster fire rate.
Most new naked weapons are only good for people without min maxed builds, people that need a good weapon without a perfect bulld
So sad, this also goes to display only, alongside Helga Pataki 😢.
RNG HATES ME!!! 😭 I've done the event over 30-40, maybe even closer to 50 times and no new weapons.
So Red Terror is only from the Dangerous pastimes event and that event its gone... Time to increase the price of my Red Terror's hehe
How is the Event gone? 😨
It's not gone but just in a normal rotation on eventsvto pop on the hour they had it every hour as a release event
@@richburnham431 Oh... I did think it was gone, yesterday I played a lot and didn't see it pop up
great weapon for a brotherhood character tho
Got it. Laser rifles are still bad.
Sure if you're meta chasing (boring). But otherwise they're fun because there's cool red beams flying everywhere and the enemies explode into a big red dust cloud.
Nope not bad at all lmao
@@bacon098you right all meta will say everything that not meta bad lol so boring
@@bacon098so you like struggling to kill things in the game?
Are Bethesda trying to kill the player vendor weapon sales with all these new rather good weapons?
aristocrat would be better bc its always bonus damage, good for heavy armored enemies and no armor enemies
That thing breaks fast
Funny thing is bethesda be like "Laser weapons are FIIIIIINEEE" I mean honestly I WOULD agree if every shot would apply fire stack, that would slap!
What do you mean using it for healing? It’s AA not Vampires???
Perk card called friendly fire. Weapons with fire dmg will heal allies, including npc in events. Card is in Charisma.
With the Friendly Fire perk, weapons with fire damage will heal friendly NPCs and teammates if you hit them.
Oh that’s what he means, thanks for clarifying that
Sniper rifle. Dont try to make this a commando competitor. It’s not.
It’s a perfect roll for energy snipers who wanna use up their fusion cells that drop everywhere.
I think 1st players have gotten all of these while I have only 1 the lousy 1.
I see a Turtle I hit Like. 👍
Q2525 rail Vs q5015 rail Vs b5015rail ????
I think it works very well for a Commando PA that isn’t using vats to save core charge and ap for something like dodgy.
Yesterday i gave it back.
The Explosive Laser Rifles were OP - I really miss my Quad ones with the medium scope (700 range) and the 999 Magazine!🤯😏
Looking at that rewards page, everything looking lackluster at best.
I tried but fortunately I found one ultracite laser better. It has the Hunter effect, but with the +50% critical damage and -25% VATS cost, it's way better than Olga. And I use most for heal NPC because they nerfed chainsaw too much
😡🐢
