I was 12 when I heard over the radio that Bin Laden was killed. My dad was working at the Pentagon on 9/11, and I was so so close to losing my father. My mom cried when I told her and my dad came home from work early to just hold us and to be there with us. Thank you to all the people who have served, and may this nation remember every single one.
I love how everyone looked to each other and said it to their neighbor these people were probably strangers. I got chills when they started chanting USA! My whole body with chills!! I love how everyone was saying it didn’t matter who won. no one cared.
Funny how the death of a man is celebrated with enthusiasm instead of thinking about the people who died on that horrible day. Killing that man doesn’t make the things he did undone. He is just dead there is nothing to it. He even died in the believe to go to his heaven. But using these horrible things as an excuse to destroy middle eastern countries because of the terrorist hotspots in them for wich the US is partly responsible is even worse. Even worse than that is the american people not questioning anything (atleast the ones shown) rather falling into a state of mass hysteria because of a killing fixing nothing.

I was 11 years old and at this game. All I can remember is a drunk guy behind me screaming "We got him! We killed Bin Laden!" and I looked over to my dad and asked if the guy was serious. Soon enough the stadium went insane. One of the most surreal experiences of my life. It was a horrible game in general but that 1 thing made it unforgettable.
I had nearly the exact same experience at this game. I was 14 and remember everyone sharing the news and looking at my dad and brother wondering if it was real, and confirming after they checked their phones. I believe there was an announcement during a beak in the game?
The crazy part is that this game was Tied 1-1 in the 9th inning and it was played between Philadelphia, the Nations Birthplace and New York, Where 9-11 happened
I remember getting a text message from my mom while on the road to sign in from post-deployment leave at Fort Drum, NY. My battle was driving at that point and he nearly crashed the car.
Late but yes, we started to get the news in the 9th. I was there that night and (will never forget the energy when this happened, just amazing) and remember this game going into the area of 13/14 innings.
I was 11 when it happened. I found out the next day. Woke up early and started to watch the news. When all they were talking about was bin ladens death. It was the talk of the school too and our teacher told us a lot about it too as some didnt fully know the significance behind it.
I was 8 years old when this happened and I remember it well. I was at the Orlando airport waiting in the terminal about to board a plane to go home to Boston Logan International (the airport that the planes that hit the World Trade Center left from) and the news of his death flashed on the screen. I couldn’t tell you what was happening around me, I just sat there and couldn’t believe it!
I am from a place a lot of you would not know and that is Perth Western Australia, it was around lunch time here when the news started to spread and I can guarantee you that horns were blowing and people celebrating just like in the USA
At the time, I was living in Manayunk, a suburb of Philadelphia. The town is full of bars and restaurants, so it is always quite noisy. I remember this day as the loudest night, as the chants of "USA USA" kept going on even though it was late night. I am back in Japan now, but in my three years of living in the U.S., I have never seen Americans so patriotic. I will always remember living in the old capital of the United States on that historic day.

Nate al qaeda was pretty much done at this point. It‘s just so primitive how people celebrate that

It was the only night and ever night that both Mets and Phillies fans cheered in unison together
If I had to pick one of those teams it would be the Phillies, although my dad was a big Mets fan.
Sounds like 2001, D-Backs playing the Yankees
Normally we’d be breaking beer bottles over each other’s heads. lol
@The_ZeroLine lol, the drunks from NY and Phila certainly would 😆
My boys could recall it like they were there, even though they weren't
I’m not American but we were all American that night

That's the only thing in Philadelphia they didn't boo !
When America stands united, nothing can stop them.
Justice for the victims of 9/11. My heart, soul and sympathy goes to the families that lost their love ones on that dark time.
I know there will be 500k people who say they were there that night. But, I was there. I have the ticket. It was surreal.

I was at work and we all started cheering and hugging. Such an amazing feeling as an American.
I miss when America was this United
I was 3 years old when this happened, wish i could have remembered such a moment.
I found out watching WWE Extreme Rules when John Cena announced it.
I'd thought they would have taken a timeout for the game, let all the players congratulate each other with a handshake line before continuing.
We need this type of energy in 2020
Imagine if people had gotten such news during an Eagles game in Philadelphia.
Same fans

Our entire country celebrating 🥳
We need one of these for when the Phillies blew a 6 run lead in the 9th to the Mets.
I can't stop looking at the lady at 0:39 - 0:40. She just hitting me like she a real lady and she has that smile to her like our men got him
Why is ESPN bringing this up now? This happened back in 2011.
Aaron Dizon Look at the title and the month. “Recall”
Because it is history and needs to be remembered!!!
what a night that was!
Is it ironic it was the biggest rivalry at the time?
Yup. But we are all one country! Usa!
Why didn't they just show the news on the Jumbotron ??
USA 🇺🇸. This is the best country ever and I don’t care what people say
Which episode was this??
Dam these Americans really love their country so much
There were no fans of the phillies or the mets, but of the USA at that point lol
So it never occurred to the stadium management to just announce it themselves?

I'll never forget the front cover of Newsday the day after. It was bin Laden's face and the title said "GOT HIM!!" I was nine years old.

that horrific accent discounts anything these people say...it makes them sound uneducated
Why isn't this being considered from the Mets fan perspective? They won the game.

Yeah, but New York suffered from the attacks worse than Philadelphia did.
