    I am team Phiona.
Stay were you are until when you are ready to have me in a proper way.
Marriage first, staying together second and having children last.
I love Prim's positive vibe towards her ways of living. It is really so rare for such people to get disappointed. When you expect less from someone, you get less disappointed.

I think cohabitation is a raw deal for women. Especially in this Era where civil marriages are so cheap. What happens in case you get children? You are left utterly unprotected. What happens if the man dies when you have invested together? The only time I would accept cohabitation is when we are working towards formalizing the union within 6 months of us living together.

I think the 6 month trial period to commitment is a great point. I won’t lie, I’m hesitant moving in with someone after marriage. I personally need to see how we both operate in close quarters. The pandemic ended a lot of relationships because people were forced to quarantine together

Prim’s answer to the why, amazing. I get judged for looking at life like that most of the time and I always worry that as women we’ve been raised to be a little more close minded and more prone to being blinded by our emotions.

We cohabited with my now husband for 12 years and had our four children in that period, we recently made it official (2018) we are living well, we always talked about making it official but to me it felt comfortable and healthy.

I met my husband in December 2017. Once. He lived in a different town. We lost contact for a bit and then started talking again in March. We kept talking over the phone for 3 months. In June 2018, he finally visited and stayed for a weekend when we decided we wanted to be in a committed relationship. And we both weren’t into LDRs and I wasn’t going to move to his town of residence, he moved in with me and we lived together till we got married in August 2019. It was a financial decision to some extent lol keeping two houses wasn’t wise. I never thought I’d cohabit but I’d do it again. Maybe because we agreed on what sort of relationship we wanted and it was really a no-brainer. We are partners in EVERY sense of the word.

nice topic, the only difference between cohabiting and marriage is a piece of paper. This piece of paper is what makes someone feel secure and comes at a cost. The paper has some sort of prestige as well. Just do you, what if u want to take your relationship on another level and u don't have money to fund a wedding ?? Lets not judge and cohabiting does not make u seem u went for a cheaper option, in some cases circumstances play a role. Loving the show from Kenya (+254)

I'm a new follower since your live show with Murugi Munyi and honestly i am hooked to your channel. I relate with Fiona coz i am more religious and i made a personal decision not to cohabit with any man. However i love Prim's wisdom and clarity. She is so grounded. If i am ever to cohabit, i would go with Claire's option. Its safer to have an introduction or traditional marriage or some form of formal commitment. All in all, you have a new fan from South Sudan 🇸🇸

Very interesting conversation with very many layers. For me marriage does not guarantee the success of a relationship. What it means for me is a display of commitment and protection/security in the legal sense plus the kind of home I intended to bring my kids into ie, married parents (personal choice). That's all. Now, if those bases are already covered without 'the ring', it then comes to what you as an individual wants for yourself, which is different for everyone.
One thing I know though, living with someone gives you and whole new dynamic of the relationship. Knowing what I know now, almost 10 years married, one year living together prior and one year long distance, if you want to taste those waters first, go for it. You might not want that marriage after all LOL

Loved this episode 😘,,, y'all so woke and am here for it. Prim is so eloquent and how she put her thoughts together is beautiful. The why is important. I'm with Claire on this, I have no probs with anyone cohabiting but I wouldn't do it myself. I'm for partners where we visit each other but retain our specific houses. Half cohabiting maybe, I need my space to be my own. I can share it but not all the time. I need to see the partner when I want and not all the time 😂

First time watching the show. This is so impressive & it’s very good to see that we have such open minded human beings in Uganda. All these ladies are different and they bring out different opinions in their personal life which is such a unique team.. Cohabiting is very common in African countries and a lot of people don’t really understand how it should work. There is so much to learn from this show mostly with this topic. I wish a lot of people could know what you guys are doing ,cause it’s such a great job.
Putting that aside! I am so glad that you ladies actually bought this topic because I think 80% of people living in Uganda actually doing cohabiting. Unfortunately just because we Africans like miss using things. When people decide to cohabit they go there for bad Hidden agendas and then they end up losing. Which is always the usual case in uganda . So it’s very good to hear such topics and to have such open-minded people that can talk about it because there is so much to learn from this topic and maybe there will be a change . Thank you again ladies
    Much love from 🇺🇸

Especially women who might never be able to be financially secure like the lady here who will one day be in a better financial space. It was a need based decision not a want. I think marriage is overrated!! A lotta females have been brainwashed n enslaved by religion n culture that if a man is not willing to commit to marriage, he doesn't love enough. Thats how a lotta females end up stack in bad marriage cuz their spiritual leaders n families have convinced n hoodwinked them that not being married or divorce is a sin. Sin ma foot!! Many dudes have married their girlfriends under duress from family members. They end up leaving their wives stack at home by themselves. They wanted marriage n they gave it 2 them. So they don't owe them anything.. A dude marrying u doesn't prove Jack!! It is simply a process a dude maybe willing 2 go thru simply cuz thats what u want n they don't wanna hear anymore nagging from u n yo family. Let marriage happen organically n u'll enjoy it. I've many cpls that chose cohabiting n they've lived together for many yrs without the pressure of marriage. Btw, not everyone was meant get married n their is nothing wrong with that..But the churches many of which r ran by the world's worst scumbags convince u otherwise. Thats y uc a lotta divorces. A lotta females want weddings as something off their bucket list. Bottom line, don't get sucked in by these church doctrines cuz half the time these churches r run by sinners worse than u. Follow yo heart n do u. F other pplz opinions. If u don't feel like marriage is a thing 4u, don't get married for the sake of it cuz at the end of the day ur the one going 2 be stack with the person u married under duress!! Ur a grown-ass woman who shd make yo own decisions. I think the biggest problem is that these churches want 2 think 4u n decide 4u what is a sin n what is not!! They're mo like the pigs in animal farm. I could go on 4 eternity about the church BS but I'll stop here. Those r ma 2 cents!!

Like Prim said, if you're cohabiting please keep your mindset to partnership not marriage. This will help you to invest 50/50 with your partner in everything without ignoring big things in disguise of afterall his my husband.

It is a very vital discussion. Openiness is key in everything because some people pretend and promise what they won't do just win soul mates.
