From what I understand, it was affecting how listeners were checking out the new songs. He put so much work into writing the lyrics, but to him it felt like barely anyone cared bc a lot of people tended to solely focus on the "blegh". So for artistic integrity and the hopes of a new focus in the comments about his lyrical work, he left that part of their sound behind.
Case in point, one of the top comments here is saying Courtney did the blegh instead of Sam lmao

@@Invidious065 I wouldn't say that For Those That Wish To Exist is an awesome album and arguably one of there best. Also the song Discourse Is Dead was written even before Holy Hell was released. Ordinary Extinction has a VERY powerful chorus, and Libertine is also really underated.

@@Invidious065 they found commercial success definitely with Holy Hell and then took that sound and matured it with For Those That Wish To Exist and upped the production value a ton. People didn't care much about the album when the first couple singles released but when people gave it a chance most of them were blown away when listening through the whole album me included.

I love Spiritbox. One thing that seems unique to them (in Metalcore) are their high-pitched ambient synths in most of their songs. Those elevate their godly compositions to a new ethereal level that hits the sweet spot in my feels.
That chorus hits hard when dying in elden ring. Fantastic track

Damn, Sam is such a fucking great singer. This banger is pure gold.
Listened to the new album in its entirety. This song and Silk In The Strings are my favorites of the new songs on the album. Two of the heaviest as well, which tells you how well Spiritbox does with their heavier side. Sam Carter had a fantastic feature as well. No bad song on this album! All songs were either great or fantastic. This is album of the year for me so far.
Don't forget Phinehas "The Fire Itself" Album
listened through the album a few times already, definitely going into top 1 for me this year, triviums new album might be the only one that comes even close to this
I wouldn't call it my album of the year since there's still the new Valiant Hearts album and maybe a new The Wise Man's Fear album(it'll probably be released in 2022 but who knows, the boys were giving the final touches to it so maybe a release this year is still possible) but eternal blue will definitely be top 5 for me.
Spiritbox/ Erra and Phineas albums are my AOTY so far, there simply cant be one in a packed year like this :D

I provided a clear cut, statistical reason WHY I like Sam's feature.
Courtney's own features could use more of her on those tracks (which are often completely overrated).
Most of the time it's a money and contract issue. Some artists cost big bucks to be featured on songs.

The first part of the song is structured like Holy Roller, and guitars sound a bit like Volumes, but with two unique voices, Sam stepping in from about 1:00 until the end, and the electronic ambience that gives it that Spiritbox flare - such a BANGER! Love them!

I'm in North Van so it's great to see a very local band having astounding success in this genre and with such talent. I doubt we'll see another moment like this for a BC metal band for a long long time. Off the top of my head, the only modern rock bands from B.C. that have/had decent widespread success is Hedley and Mariana's Trench. Most others that garnered more popularity tend to be from the east coast (Three Days Grace, Simple Plan, Finger Eleven).

This album is damn near perfect really out done em selves. So well balanced really found their sound hope this brings em all the success they deserve.
Definitely one of those "lightening in a bottle" albums that's brilliant from start to finish, every track is incredible, and no part outstays it's welcome.
