    Hi Toney, shouldn't the value of acceleration due to gravity be 9.8. Is 10 acceptable?

  • @amybaldwin8552
    @amybaldwin8552 Рік тому +1

    For part B of the variable acceleration question, instead of plugging in all the different values, could you do a definite integral of the velocity equation since the area under the curve of a velocity time graph is displacement? You would still need to split it up of course but would it still work? its probably the most complicated way to do it but its the first thing that came to my mind 😅

    • @tonydebling
      @tonydebling  Рік тому +1

      Just remember distance travelled is different from displacement. Areas below the axis represent negative displacement but still positive distances travelled.

    hi tony, at 22:50 how do i work out the distance travelled for each value of t??

    • @tonydebling
      @tonydebling  3 роки тому +3

      Substitute the value of the into the equation for x, namely x =1/2t^2(t^2 - 2t +1) which is given in the question.

    • @tonydebling
      @tonydebling  3 роки тому +3

      To be more precise x is the displacement, which means if it starts at zero, becomes 1/32, and then goes back to zero the distance travelled is 1/32 + 1/32 = 1/16, then from x=0 at t=1 it becomes x=2 at t=2, so it travels a further distance of 2, giving a total distance travelled of 2 1/16, whilst the displacement at this point in time is still 2. So it is important to understand the difference between distance travelled and displacement.
