This is just ethereal. Emmy’s voice surpasses anything I’ve heard. The plucking is sensational, the voice celestial and the song simply extraordinary. I’ve not heard such haunting music.
Hendrikus. I believe Emmylou’s reference to rock of ages comes from the old Christian hymn “Rock of Ages”. You can google the meaning of the hymn but rock of ages referred to Jesus and his spilling of blood. The song is a reflective song which describes the great sorrows and wounds in her life, no doubt these wounds include the tragic loss of her soulmate and singing partner Gram Parsons at a early age, and her inability to truly love anyone else no matter how much she tried. Emmylou has never been one to wear her religion on her sleeve. But The last verse is a powerful message of redemption and deliverance, and reference to her deeply held Christian belief in the afterlife.

Amazing ,but cant help not notice that she very offten sing second voice to other singer and in same time be much higher than first voice, only Joan Baez and Judy Collins in this genre can stand equal
