- Who wants a cookie? Well, we've got A LOT of them! Come spend the day with us as we bake up dozens and dozens and dozens of cookie treats for our friends. It's a busy day for the whole family, but we do get a lot accomplished in the end. Shawn, I'm sure your dad would be very proud of you. I remember you telling us about your dad's gun and what it means to you. The huge smile on your face was just wonderful to see. Maybe in many years to come, one or more of the children will do the same in your honour.

I just made the dipped pretzels and put peppermint extract in the white almond bark after it melted. Yum! No one complained and so much cheaper than store bought. Mmmmmm

Love this! When my kids were little we had cookie day. We turned on the Christmas music and danced while we baked. My Mom made what you call haystacks. We used chocolate and butterscotch chips with the noodles. She called it noodle candy. Mom has passed and kids are grown now. But wonderful memories. Your children will always remember. 🥰

What fun and such a beautiful gesture! When my kids were younger, I made pumpkin rolls for their coaches, teachers, and scout leaders at thanksgiving time to show our appreciation for all they did. It sure makes you feel good to put a smile on someone’s face.
Again, Janice and Shaun, I feel like a broken record when I say how much joy your channel brings to my own life’s struggles. That’s so nice of you to do that for the people in your town. I grew up on the chocolate no bake oatmeal cookies. I think everyone did.

This is so nice, my mother was such an apocalyptic hoarder that we did very little baking and such because we had to save all the sufff for when we couldn’t buy it,she stocked up on all the supplies but you couldn’t use them and then no money for art and craft supplies, my kids love to bake and it happens very often

What a fun video!! All the treats look delicious! It reminds me of how my mom and I do for Christmas baking. That was a nice size deer! Way to go! Also, the story Shawn told about using his dad's rifle made it even more special! We have things like that passed down in my family as well.
I'm thankful Shawn got a buck thats a blessing. Growing up when my dad got a deer every year I knew we were gonna eat good that winter. So i always thanked the Lord. I know Sarah wanted to go hunting so bad! Making thoes sweet treats for everyone was so thoughtful and something Im thinking of doing with my daughters Lydia and Abby. I loved this video so much ive watched it multiple times. Lol thanks for sharing. ❤

The treats look so yummy! 😋 On the pretzels you could drizzle chocolate on the white and vice-versa. Also, you can dip one side in chocolate and the other side in white chocolate.
My GMA used to make the Haystack cookies so yummy. She was the same GMA that taught me to pick the turkey and chicken carcus clean. She wasted nothing

I ended up having to put it on our Facebook page, but here's a copy/paste of that one recipe! :)
PEANUT BUTTER HAYSTACKS (makes about 12)
1 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup salted peanuts OR M&M mini candies
2 cups chow mein noodles
Melt butterscotch chips and peanut butter on top of a double boiler or in a microwave. Blend together.
Stir peanuts and noodles gently into the melted peanut butter mixture.
Drop mixture by tablespoons onto waxed paper. Let cool until set.

today I noticed that Abigail is looking so much like her Daddy! What a beautiful family and what a fun video! I do homeade candy and fudge, etc. for gifting every year and I love your idea for the haystacks. I had always used pretzels and white chocolate for mine. I love all the recipes ya'll did today! I love the DITL videos, the week of meals and the unboxing, however, I am looking forward to learning about fencing from Shawn!!!!!!! Go Shawn!!!!!

P.s. you brought up a VERY OLD memory for me. So old that I don’t remember anything about it just the fact that at one point when I was tiny (at LEAST 20 years ago give or take up to 5 more) I’ve seen and I believe ate those chow mein cookies before. Also… now I want to go around and do all of this for my town. I’m almost positive our police would X-ray and drug test the cookies first 😅 half of our town is country, half is constantly up to bad things (same with all of our surrounding towns lol) .
