Proves how special this tour was it that a good few of the England World Cup winners put this above the World Cup

I am a grown man crying at this post. No other sport in my humble opinion presents life at its best such as a lions tour. Much love to all that bring these moments to life

Best tour ever - watched it as a kid with my father and when a lions tour is on it feels like we are back at that tour again!

Gibbs colliding with Du Rant was a big psychological statement and moment, just about exonerates him for that Wembley try against us 😀

Massive respect to the '97 Lions from a South African. Real men. Played hard.

Whether you are a Lion or representing any level, live for those moments because trust me, in later life you will cherish them, they define you, whatever level you played!

Compare this to how the spirit of the game has been ruined on this tour in 2021 by social media and the Bok coach.

Odd how he was never first choice on any Lions tour, weird now looking back how so many other English scrum halves got a chance before him. I think the main reason was he was a good youth player but not brilliant. He started his professional career well but not groundbreaking. He was just a tough, resilient person who got a little better every day. Around 96-97 he just took that next step to become an overnight sensation, but the truth was it took him twenty years to become an overnight sensation. Left the game winning it all.

Top drawer, as we used to say when I played cricket at a half decent level. That was a top drawer try, despite my Murrayfield prejudice. What a series, it boiled the blood. Come on you Lions! I loved the fact that the Lions were fundamentally amateur ,in the face of the most abrasive, cynical and win at all costs regime, and yet, as happens every now and again, decency, humanity and integrity prevailed. ........As a Scot, I wish you didnae score score so many tries, but I always thought you were OK.

Applied this philosophy to managing teams at work. Kill cliques, nepotism and bullying. The team thrives.

Dawson best 4 nations scrum half since 1990? (And possibly before... when I started watching rugby)
