Indeed! She was 75 years old with deteriorating health (and she legally blind, at that point in her life); but that voice remained impeccable! There was only one Ella Fitzgerald! #Brilliant 🔥 Peace and love...
This really blew me away. Ella was 75, could barely see, and she hits a home run. One or two talk-singy moments, but for the most part her timing and phrasing are sharp and on point. Those brief head voice highs and the scat runs at the end were perfect. I'm a huge Sinatra fan, this performance might be better than any performance I've seen from him in the last few years of his career.
i'm so sad to see at this time she could barely see because of diabetes, my mom, was like this 2 years before she passes away, i used to help her walking around the house like these 2 men ... miss her so much, god bless Ella and my mom.
WOW! She kept her voice! She still sounded amazing and super clear, like she did during the height of her career! Tears welled up in my eyes, she seemed like the sweetest! Definitely one of the all time greatest!
I remember watching this on tv with my Nana and how we were both in awe of how fabulous she sounded. I still think of this performance and how it proves that a voice does NOT have to age if cared for. Love it!
Ella me emociona sempre...
omg never saw this, went to school with Ray Brown Jr, real gentleman, she was such a lady and even in this she was fantastic. Damn diabetes, robs people of so much too soon.
Dipshit. She had lost nearly all of her vision by this time due to complications of diabetes. Must make you feel good about your pathetic self to be making fun of a sick old lady, who accomplished more on this earth than your sorry ass ever will. Scumbag.
Poor singer are you freaking serious? At this age she was still killing us with them vocal cords bruh......just listen to that scat Ella will always be the lady of song
Poor singer?! Lol!!!! Ella was a fucking legend, you dumbass. I suggest you go and listen to her when she was younger. She had crystal clear tone and her diction was the best I've ever heard. She was incredible.
Clearly something lost in translation, Dúc probably isn't an English speaker. I am sure he meant "Wonderful singing, but such a pity this poor lady was in bad health". The reactions below are a but short fused.
The greatest singer of the 20th century.
Ella Fitzgerald has never been dead for me, and this performance shows exactly why.
SHE'S FREAKING AMAZING !!! HER VOICE AT THAT TIME IS STILL BEAUTIFUL !!! I LOVE HER.
😭
Indeed! She was 75 years old with deteriorating health (and she legally blind, at that point in her life); but that voice remained impeccable! There was only one Ella Fitzgerald! #Brilliant 🔥
Peace and love...
She was in her 70s here, even though she needed assistance walking - the fact that she was able to sing like that is freaking awesome.
The further into the song the more her age fades away and she’s singing like old times once again

That's why she was his favorite female singer and showed her so much admiration. I loved when they sang together.
At her age and situation? Just wow! Real talent never dies!
The way he looks at her with complete reverence. Truly wonderful. The First Lady of Song.
The same way I look at her
Considering how bad her health had deteriorated by this time, she sounds amazing. WOW.
i'm so sad to see at this time she could barely see because of diabetes, my mom, was like this 2 years before she passes away, i used to help her walking around the house like these 2 men ... miss her so much, god bless Ella and my mom.
Sorry for your loss, lost my mom back in 2007
当時75歳!👏👏👏👏
WOW! She kept her voice! She still sounded amazing and super clear, like she did during the height of her career! Tears welled up in my eyes, she seemed like the sweetest! Definitely one of the all time greatest!
Jesus. Close your eyes and her voice is the same as her youth. Amazing
Ella Fitzgerald was epic; to the very end! 🔥
Peace and love...
I thank the gods I went to see her in concert in the late 1980s. It was a Jazz pilgrimage, for me.

She was virtually blind by this time, you ignorant person.
you never know, what is going to come your way in life you moron
Dipshit. She had lost nearly all of her vision by this time due to complications of diabetes. Must make you feel good about your pathetic self to be making fun of a sick old lady, who accomplished more on this earth than your sorry ass ever will. Scumbag.
so wonderful!! but so poor a woman. she was blind at that time, and just 1 year later, she got amputated due to diabete
She was a great singer up to the end.
