Heathens was written for the movie Suicide Squad. The song was not commissioned by Stranger Things nor was it in the show, but I guess the guys like the show and I read somewhere that the whole festival was Tranger Things themed.
Thanks for the info! I've seen both of those movies but I don't recall the song. Now, when I re-watch them (or the one it's in) it will hit me! A Stranger Things themed festival?!? AWESOME!
This band is growing on me. I was confused by them when I first heard them, but am beginning to understand what they are saying better with each song. This one was good, and just a little scary.
Welcome to the clique. Good on you for taking the time to try and understand their lyrics more, I promise it is worth it. Tyler does write in a lot of metaphors, probably intentionally to try and make them as relatable as possible. Many of their songs are about mental health, faith, cycles, and the music industry.
If this was your first time seeing them live, I suggest doing a double feature of reacting to the video for Holding on to You, then do their live Fox Theatre Holding on to You. You’ll be gobsmacked!
Ironically, Heathens was written to explain the band’s fan base to outsiders, but, being a massive radio hit it brought in a massive number of new fans who may or may not understand what their dynamic has been!
I’ve always thought of this song as how you don’t know what someone has gone through to be the way they are, that everyone has a story. I’ve just realised a connection between this & the mv for My Blood ( which I definitely recommend) This song was written for the first Suicide Squad movie but the fun thing was that they asked Tyler to write it a certain way for the movie but he said no I’ll write something that suits our band & if you like it you can then use it…. So heathens is actually written for TØP fans. I believe they were approached to do this colab with stranger things & I just think it fits so well together. A tøp song would definitely be my weapon against Vecna 😆. Can’t wait for the next season
This is a group that is amazing live! The problem is that the official videos are amazing, too. The videos often have additional meaning, Easter eggs of the lore, and are sometimes like mini movies. You might want to check out some songs both live and the official video. That would be fun. Holding on to you is a good one to do both. "Trees -- live + speech" is a must live, as it is the song they end every concert with and it is powerful! The mutual respect between Tyler, Josh and the fans is second to none!
I’m a big Stranger Things fan, and have the added bonus of getting to enjoy watching it with my daughter. I’m a bigger tøp fan, and so this mashup is simply awesome. The pinnacle of live shows of theirs on UA-cam would be anything recorded at Fox Theatre. They also do many live remakes of their songs too that you may want to check out once you are familiar with more of their stuff.
Thank you, my friend! That must be interesting watching with your daughter to get her perspective on the characters, etc. Very cool! I do have a bunch of Fox Theater versions on my list so I'm sure one of them will be next especially if it has to do with the lore.
I totally love them, saw them in Stockholm just before covid hit. This performance is obviously great, but man you've seen nothing yet😂. I'm 53 and useless sending links, but pretty sure someone will. I absolutely adore your reactions. Hugs from Sweden.
Tack min van! I absolutely love TOP! Love every one of the songs I've done so far and there are many more to go! Thank you for being on this journey with me! Hugs from NY! ❤️
Bill, their music is even better live! They are a concert band. Please watch more live performances. Anything from the Fox theatre is iconic. (Suggest Holding On To You, live at Fox Theatre if you want to see the real showman and the love between them and the audience.) you get a lot more screaming from Tyler in live performances.✌🏻
I see that someone already explained this one to you so thought I'd also say during their concerts they do seem to like to mix other people's(in this case show's) songs with their own. When I went and saw them for their scaled and icy tour when they played Mulberry Street which sounds kind of Elton John'ish they intro'd it by playing Benny and the Jets and then led into mulberyy street. Oh and also he screams a lot more at their concerts.
Thank you, my friend! There have been a lot of people saying I should do that one. Frankly, I plan on doing them all it's just a matter of what first 😁
Do every twenty one pilots song and we will be there for each video! You gotta do “Trees” live at the fox theatre, it’s a staple to twenty one pilots. Also “ode to sleep” music video as an introduction. These are two great suggestions 😊
That's great to hear since I plan on doing every single thing TOP does. I do have Trees live at Fox and Ode To Sleep on my list it's only a matter of which one is first! Thank you, my friend!
People will tell you that Trees at the Fox Theatre is the best live performance to watch, and I can’t really argue much with those people. If you want more of aggressive, screaming Tyler, you’ll really want to check out Jumpsuit, but I suggest you watch those lore videos in order.

If you liked those agressive vocals, you should react to Jumpsuit please!
Really! Ok, cool! Thank you! ❤️

Yeah, maybe a little scary! 😁I liked them from the get-go. But with each new song my appreciation grows and grows.

Tyler's screams are so good

Excellent! My favorite pastime is being gobsmacked! That does sound like a good idea, so thank you my friend! ❤️

Yes! I can't wait either! So this was in the first Suicide Squad movie (with Will Smith). I'm glad Tyler stuck to his guns! ❤️🤘

Great info! Thank you so much, my friend! I will likely do both live and OMV of the same songs. ❤️
Hey there! I am Romanian and I was at the show, it was the best show ever!! Great vibe! Love your reactions 🎉🎉🎉
So lucky my friend! That must have been so great! ❤️
That is so cool to have been there! ✌🏻
Love this! Thank you! ❤❤
They are so much fun, right? Thank you! ❤️❤️

They have a bunch of good videos at Fox Theater - Trees (Live from Fox Theater) is a good one - that's what they end every show with
Thanks for the info! I have marked that in my notes.
@@BemusingBill "Holding On To You" LIVE at The Fox Theater IS A MUST!

I like hearing that about an artist! I do plan on doing more live stuff of course! But first.....the lore! Thank you, my friend!❤️❤️

you really have to react to Jumpsuit by them, its super explosive and probably the most "heavy" they have ever been on a song
Thank you, my friend! There have been a lot of people saying I should do that one. Frankly, I plan on doing them all it's just a matter of what first 😁
YES! Let’s gooooo with the tøp! 🫶🏻

Heavydirtysoul is a good music and a special music video!
Cool! I do have it on my list and can't wait to get to it! Thank you! ❤️
