Riding Insane Features Built By Dangerous Dan

Bowen island is known for its legendary mountain bike features built by Dangerous Dan Cowan, who pioneered elevated skinnies and wooden structures on the North Shore. These trails were featured in movies such as Kranked, North Shore Extreme, Brighter, Drop-in TV and many others. So stoked to have ridden these Features before they are too rotten.

I believe back in the day the mayor of Bowen actually came out with some people to look and dans work and they were impressed and didn’t seem to care. Pretty sure the current land managers also know about it cause it’s been there so long. Metro destroyed a few things at the very bottom but their land ends so they can’t destroy more. The rest is bc parks I believe.

so cool , i remember a trail called meshuggah built by him was the scariest thing ive ever seen . did you happen to find that line ? also any word on what happened to dan, i heard he got cancer. i am in the middle of a cancer battle myself. my shredding days are basically over.

I didn’t find that trail but I’m hoping to find it next time I go. The videos of it look insane. Dan did have testicular cancer but I believe he beat it. Apparently he’s back riding on the north shore recently. Really sorry to hear you’re going through that. Wishing you all the best in your recovery 🤟🏼
