    Thank you so much for this tutorial, it is very helpful. One suggestion I have is that you should have shown your completed work, maybe by wearing it after so that we could see what the finished product looks like. Keep up the good work, because it is very hard to find tutorials on praise garment making. God bless!

      That makes me so happy to hear Taneisha!! There are many wonderful options out there for you for buying praise dance apparel, but if you can make some yourself, why not?! :-) Especially this one. I hope you subscribed to the channel because I'm going to be sharing a new pattern very soon. Or you can get a day-by-day sneak peek of the new pattern by liking my Facebook page. If you haven't already, it's facebook.com/mishundakay.

      Thank you sew much! That pattern is impossible to find anymore it seems, but you can create the same look from a tshirt or tank top by adding a curve out from the armpit. I really need to update this video with a new version for something that is available. I am going to make that my project for the week. Thanks for watching.

    Aww, thank you love. I appreciate it. It really has never taken me more than 3 yard of fabric for virtually every size on the envelope. If it's your first time sewing, ask one of the associates at your fabric store to help you in determining how much fabric you need. Ask the one who's smiling... I notice that's usually the one who is the most helpful. Get a knit fabric, something with some stretch, and you'll be just fine! Super easy!

God bless!

    • @authordancerpoetgift
      @authordancerpoetgift  11 років тому

      Hi Maria. You know, there really doesn't seem to be a market, so to speak, for sacred garment patterns. Really, what you can do is find tops, tunics, or dress patterns that work well for dance. The McCall's 6121 that I am demonstrating here is a pattern for tank-style top. The package shows it worn with capri pants. You can shop for fabric online through a VARIETY of sources, however I am a touchy feely kind of girl. I honestly sew most often by inspiration. I walk into the fabric store and wait for the fabric to call me. (You know... the way we do with shoes, LOL!) Also, it's so hard to know what you're looking at online. When I find a great online source, I'll be sure to share it. But for now, shop your local fabric store.
      I don't know if that is helpful in the way you might have hoped but I hope it helps a little. You can shop clearance and sales and that will help reduce your cost.

    Hi! I really love this pattern and the fact that you are teaching us to do this so simply. We are beginner Praise and Worship Dancers and are looking to do easy stuff like this. Thank you so much! One question....Vogue only has s-xl......how do you measure to get plus sizes?

    • @authordancerpoetgift
      @authordancerpoetgift  11 років тому

      Aren't you sweet?! So glad you are enjoying this video. What I would recommend for those larger than the XL size is probably that you take a tshirt that fits the individual, just the sleeves off to give it the tank look, cut straight up the sides and then use the front piece to form your pattern. You will probably need to add some material to the sides to get your flare, but I really think it can work. I'll try it and create a video or reply back.

  • @authordancerpoetgift

    Sun12Shine7, that is dead on! Definitely a great substitute. If you use V8651 just notice that just like with the McCall pattern it is too short as designed. Be sure you lengthen it for accurate coverage.

      Hi Lanora. I use a stretchy knit for these. I used satin in this video which will still flow well. Poly Interlock if shopping at Hancock; Jet Set if at Joann's works fairly well though I think it is a little slow, if that makes sense. Both are forgiving to those new to sewing.

    • @authordancerpoetgift
      @authordancerpoetgift  7 років тому +1

      Christine hudson Hi Christine! I don't know why they took this pattern out of print. It's a great basic pattern and everywhere you look the hanky style top is available in stores. I can't say that I have found an alternate pattern, but you can use a tank top and draft a pattern from it. I would add some allowance to the sides so it moves. From there, measure how far down from the end of the tank top you need the overlay to hang. That becomes a straight cut across the width of the fabric. You eyeball a sort of J curve from the armpit to the selvage edge and presto. I found this link of someone who has followed the same concept and she has a great diagram of how to draft the pattern. Sew easy! www.definatalie.com/2016/03/09/hanky-hems-for-a-stuffed-up-week/
      Best of luck to you! let me know how it goes.
