Here is your priority list for playing Scar: If your board lacks sufficient Hyenas to kill the current target, move hyenas or play hyena cards as needed. Vanquish Mufasa. Vanquish Simba, only if Mufasa is dead. Vanquish Zazu only if Mufasa and Simba are dead and he is either not at the killing location. Vanquish Timone or Zazu only if Mufasa AND Simba are dead. Vanquish Timone or Zazu only if Mufasa is dead and either Timone or Zazu is dead, but Simba is not dead. Vanquish any 3-strength only if Mufasa is dead. Play Be Prepared to get enough Hyenas to play to be able to kill your current target. If Mufasa is discarded, play Whisper to play Mufasa. Play Whisper only if there is a 3-strength hero in the discard pile or there is a 2-strength hero in the discard pile while Simba is dead. Play Long Live the King, prioritize Mufasa > 3-strength heroes > zazu > timone > Simba Play Stampede only if used on a hero adjacent to your killing location to push them into it and immediately vanquish. Only use if Mufasa is dead or to kill Mufasa. Play Be Prepared to get Long Live the King or Whisper, as needed to match the kill priority. Play Hyenas to the killing location to prepare for future heroes. Play Be Prepared to get more Hyenas. Always discard Pride. Always discard Injustice. Always discard Stampede, unless you need to use it imminently to relocate a hero. Always discard Freding Frenzy, unless you need to use it imminently. Always discard Stick with Me, unless you would benefit from using it immediately. NEVER discard Hyenas of any kind. NEVER discard Be Prepared, it is always useful for something. It can also be used to get a Feeding Frenzy if needed to relocate desperately. Discard Whisper and Long Live the King after the sum strength of heroes on the board and in the succession pile reaches or exceeds 15. I like the Savannah as my kill location because it has Pride's Rock to the left of it and Elephant Graveyard to the right of it, which means any heroes played to either of these locations can be relocated with Stampede and then immediately killed. The only location you can't do this is the Gorge, but you should really only be going there to Vanquish anyway, so it doesn't really matter if some heroes pile up over there because once you wipe out everything to the left of it, and the remaining sum in the gorge + succession pile is 15 or higher, you can relocate your entire Hyena swarm and go massacre whatever is over there. With 2 feeding frenzy and 3 be prepared, you have about a 17% chance to draw either the feeding frenzy card or the card that can be used to get you the feeding frenzy card each time you draw. So discarding a full hand you roll that chance 4 times. Aggressively discard with Scar. Stampede and Feeding Frenzy, and even his conditions, can be useful in certain situations but none of them are worth holding onto. Use them if you need them or throw them away, never hold on to them. I win as Scar on turn 7-9 regularly. He has a lot of steps to get through in order to win though, so you can't pull off wins on turn 3 like you can with some villains like Yzma or Pete, or turn 4 wins like Gaston and Malificent. So if those villains get lucky card draws, there is simply no way to beat them, but Scar doesn't need luck so much to win as some villains do, he just needs to keep churning through his deck and plugging away at his goals.
Cameron Secaur I have great news... he’s next! I am jumping around with the expansion villains based on demand. Hades was second most wanted! He’s coming :)
Scar feel like he takes a long time to accomplish anything, not hard, just long. I was trying solo play by myself just to feel out all the characters and learn strategies and fating myself when I felt I was making progress but I still feel he took a long time to win. The problem was losing all my allies vanquishing heroes and losing them before I vanquished Mufasa.
Yes very very slow. And his fate action space is usually covered. And his other one doesn’t really benefit him or move him toward his goal very much. I definitely agree :)
You can use the stampede card, well timed, and get a double kill in a single turn. I had two heroes on the Savanna. I had a stack of hyenas at Elephant Graveyard as my feeding ground. I put Scar at the Gorge. First I played a stampede at Savanna which moved one hero to the Elephant Graveyard...vanquished using the hyenas there as allowed by the stampede card. Then using Scar at the Gorge...did another vanquish (using the Gorge space) with stampede card just placed at the Savanna against the last hero there. Two kills in one turn--put me at 17 points in my succession pile so even when the other played fated me and unleashed a zombie Nala...I still had 15 points at the beginning of my turn. Mu ha ha. Evil is prepared. Long ling the king!
I’ve played scar three times and still haven’t won. I agree that it takes a long time to beat him. I was so close the last time I played as him but it took too long to add to my succession pile.
Another great video you love to see it. The music in the vid is great and I love the way they work with the title cards. Some people don’t think it be like it be but it do. 😁
Correction @2:43 to something you said (I could be wrong though): After playing Shenzi, you are NOT required to play the next free hyena to her location. You can play the free hyena to ANY of the four locations. The card doesn't specify "to her location".
What is so tricky about scar is knowing exactly when to stop preparing and go. I've had games where I probably could have gone after Musfasa but I took too long getting my hyenas ready and the game ended too quickly.
Totally, the timing is difficult and hard to teach. The more you play him you kinda get a feel for his play curve. Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts!
Interesting- I tend to prefer the Savanna as my kill zone. I guess that is because I usually always have Zazu at that location as well to reduce the strength of those important Heroes I need to take out, and I'd most want the top actions at the Savanna covered
My favourite Character in the ("old") Lion King is clearley Scar ;Jeremy Irons and Thomas Fritsches (iam german) voice work is amazing, the Lion King is a prime example for the age old "rule" if you want to make a good Hero look great, you need a great Villain to put him up against
I am so excited for you all to see what I have releasing for you soon. Luckily Ravensburger was rad enough to give me a copy in advance so I have been studying studying studying
My girlfriend tried Scar this afternoon. I played Rafiki's stick on Muphasa just as she was ready to defeat him 😂 Good thing too since I was playing Captain Hook and the Neverland Map card ended up being the very last card at the bottom of my deck.
My Lord, that is a nice looking lamp you have there. I believe I have asked this question before but I can't find it. Can you tell me where you got that lamp? Just curious cause I like it and want to add it to my Kallax Shelves.
Think you may have misspoke regarding the Be Prepared card. You said pick up three cards from your deck, discard them and pick either an effect or two allies from your deck. That is potentially misleading as the card outlines you must pick either or those two options, an effect card or two allies, from your discard pile and not your deck.
Am I misreading Whisper? It seems like you would be able to choose how the effect on played Fate cards resolve if you play them. Using it in combination with Hakuna Matata to move a hero to any location of your choice is really useful. Not to mention playing Zazu to a location of your choice for -2 power, and generally playing heroes when your succession pile is ready. All for 1 power.
HeyThisIsBrian you’re reading it just fine! Yeah it’s a really powerful card. I feel like since it’s only 1 power when we you draw it you will always know what to do with it. I probably still should have included it but I assumed it would be used for the right reasons by most players. It’s a great cheap card :)
I've played him 5 times in games with my friends and every time I have won. There was even a point where my whole deck was essentially in the fortune pile and I managed to win hehehe
Can you please explain what to do if you get fated too much with Scar and all heroes are in your realm or Succession pile, so only Hakuna Matatas and prophecies remain in your fate deck (6 cards total) so highly likely you will always get a hakuna matata before the start of your next turn and then it’s simply impossible to win?
Ahh yes that can truly be terrible and tough. My best advice to give is to ensure that your first couple turns are spent fating your opponent and covering their top fate action and then fate again and cover the top actions of the other location with a fate. This will split your focus and have them fating you way less or while fating you they won’t be going toward their goal as fast. Sorry it took so long to respond! But I appreciate the comment and hope this gets to you! :)
Hey Sam! I am confused with the Hungry Hyena card(s)... So when I play each Hyena card at my kill zone, how exactly am I adding up their Strength? like for example, I have two Hungry Hyenas at The Elephant Graveyard; how many Strength do they have? I don't do the easy math very well, ahaha lbs. Thanks for all your help!
Josh hey! So super easy. Each hyena has 1 strength to start out and then +1 for every other hyena. So 2 in the same space would be strength 4. If there was 3 it would be that each hyena is worth 3 strength so 9 strength total. :)
I think I got this figured out.... if you have one Hyena and you stack a second one on top of that one, their added up Strength should be 4 now, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong
Two words that will end your day: Hakuna Matata. That card...is broken. I haven't won a single game as Scar because of this stupid card. My play group always ask me which villain is the hardest. I say Scar, without hesitation
Idk how or y anyone would dislike your strategy videos. They’re helping me understand this game. Thanks for the entire playlist.

The only youtuber i can give a like to every video of him, even before hearing a single word!
Wow thank you so much! That makes me so happy to hear. I hope you enjoy my future videos as well. Cheers!
I have truly been loving the videos. I am excited to see a video on the evil queen.
Cameron Secaur I have great news... he’s next! I am jumping around with the expansion villains based on demand. Hades was second most wanted! He’s coming :)
Scar is my favorite Disney villain by far. He is really fun to play once you know how to play with him!
Totally agree!

You will certainly not hear any of that on these videos! I keep it very kid friendly.:) thanks for watching!
Thanks for listing to my suggestion lord of the board I have been having trouble with scar and needed some tips
So stoked so see more and more of these videos!

Thank you for another great strategy video of our game!
This was filmed so well! I’m excited to use these strategies!
Off to nail the kids - fingers crossed - and thank you as always, Mr Smith you are the great leveler in our home.
Fingers crossed! :D

Yay scar! He’s so tricky! I can’t wait to play again so I can put these strategies in action
kaytie rose thank you! Let me know how it goes. Fav character in Disney’s lion king?
And apparently hes meant to be the easiest in the expansion. :o
Adrian Wong he’s the hardest for me 😓
as scar you want the fates sure there are some fates that will mess you up but there are more that will help you
Another characters I’m excited to hear about are hades, Ratigan , yzma and dr facilier hope you see this and cover them in the future
They are coming!
Good video Lord. Can’t wait for expansion players 🎲

tip #4: zazu is your friend actually, as long as you can keep the hero positioning under control
Nice point!
This is so helpful ! i just got this game and I’m having a difficult time winning with Scar.
Can you also do Yzma and Ratigan 😊✨
Yes! They are coming! I am doing villains by demand of my viewers. So thanks for commenting and voicing what you want to see :$
Thank you very nice !
Hey! Hope it helped dude. I was happy to make it!
It really does im excited to see all the other expansion character guides !
I love that the Hungry Hyenas are female. A nod to real-life spotted hyenas’ matriarchal tendencies, I assume.
9:08 No, don’t use Basil!
CMCwar lol oopppssss!
Do you know if Nala can move heroes to other villainous locations?
Honestly I prefer to use Whisper to play Hakuna Matata to move the Hero, rather than use Feeding Frenzy to move the Hyenas.
werothegreat that is a good one! Clever use of discarding Hakuna Matata!
Please do Dr. Facilier soon. He's confusing me lol
Yes please!! He’s my favorite to play
I've played him 5 times in games with my friends and every time I have won. There was even a point where my whole deck was essentially in the fortune pile and I managed to win hehehe
Hello again. Still waiting on evil queen .
Hey! Good news. She’s coming very soon! I have expansion characters lined up now. Thanks for watching!

My favorite lion king characters are scar and the hyenas

Josh yes. Because they each have 1 then get 1 for each other hyena at their location. So 2 hyenas equals 4 strength :)

What card sleeves are you using?
Hey I use the ultra pro standard matte sleeves :)
Two words that will end your day: Hakuna Matata. That card...is broken. I haven't won a single game as Scar because of this stupid card. My play group always ask me which villain is the hardest. I say Scar, without hesitation
It is brutal !
What about leave one hungry Hyena in the gorge so stick with me could let you vanquish...
Good idea!
Can you clean up the audio? kinda muffled
This is a very old video. If you watch my new stuff there is some major improvements. So the Audio is already improved
aphex twin
Aphex?
Is it bad if simba is my favorite in lion king? 😂 so basic but he’s cute!
Nah. Simba is pretty great! No doubt about that.
Omg in german they put an Translation error on "Whisper"
Question on Injustice card. If you use this card, does it stop the Fate? Or can the opponent still draw the next 2 cards in your Fate deck?
