I was thinking about what you said about Scar and the Succession pile and ‘coming back from the dead’ not being very thematic but in thinking about it, it is thematic because Scar THOUGHT Simba was dead and when he returned thought it was Mufasa and then learned it was Simba so returning from the dead actually is thematic. Not trying to argue or anything Scar is just my favorite Disney villain so I had to come to his defense.
Very much agree with Ratigan being #1. I love the charcters where you need to think a few steps ahead, and get to watch this great plan unfold, and Ratigan is the king of that in my book.
Cant wait to see! I already agree with Gaston in 21 for lack of theme unfortunately. Yzma is def my number 1 though aha she can be very strong in competitive level.
Did this get re-uploaded? I could’ve SWORN I got a notification last week about this video, got super excited, and then couldn’t find it. I thought I was going crazy!
Whew! Thank goodness. I certainly did enjoy it! I personally find The Evil Queen too easy and Jafar too difficult (well, could use some balancing) It’s so cool that this game plays so differently with each group, and has so many variations in opinion. I hope that Animated can give me that same feeling I get when learning a new villain.
Yes!! Everyone does have such differing opinions, because the characters are so different. I think that’s part of what makes it such a great game - everyone has different villains they jump for and enjoys different play styles. Animated is also a lot of fun, definitely check it out :)
Seeing it in the background, I would love to hear your thoughts on the new Star Wars Villainous expansion! I don’t see that many, if anyone, on UA-cam has reviewed it. I’ll probably get it anyway since the Villainous games are my favorite board games, but would love to hear a review on it to know what I’m in for
I'm curious about comparing the Introduction To Evil to The Worst Takes It All. How ar they different? Cards/rules/what? How does the objectives compare? Is it possible to play either if I have the Original game? Or are there new items required to play "version 2.0". I also wonder what will happen to the original game: Will it be discontinued? What about the two missing characters, will they reappear?
You guys are so lucky, I have no one to play with 😭Most of my friends and family are boardgame Muggles. Unless it’s a standard playing card game; they can’t handle any game that has more than one rule.
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble finding people to play with! Do you have Meetup in your region? There’s usually a game meetup within an hour or so from most places we’ve visited (at least in the US). You should try to see if you can find a group on Meetup!
Villainous is my favorite board game and honestly my favorite Villains are Cruella de Vil, Scar, and Oogie Boogie. My least favorite is Jafar(both to fight and to play as). Even though it is extremely difficult to win as Cruella I love her gameplay so much. If I were to play competitively I would probably play Yzma or evil queen because they are practically ticking time bombs.
A little constructive criticism. You really should have had a count down style presentation. Besides the first few bottom tiers you guys stopped saying what number placement these characters were. I had to rewind just to countdown in my head. Also a missed opportunity for some cool and creative transitional animations from character to character.
We’ll definitely do that at some point!! Curious when the next Marvel Villainous will be released - it should be next up or sooner rather than later :)
I picked this game up recently, my favorite characters have to be Prince John and Captain Hook. It kinda saddens me to see some of my fav villains in the lower ranks (then again I don’t play competitively, unless you count arguments at the dining table to be competitive) but I’d love to try more of these decks someday. I wonder what 2.0 Prince John is like though?
I think a lot of people don't like PJ or Captain Hook just because they are some of the oldest and simplest. They aren't always the most fun or challenging to play, and I think some people like to play particularly for the strategy/challenge, which PJ and Hook are pretty straightforward. But they are classics!
@@shereadsmysteries That’s true, they have pretty simple objectives. Sometimes they can be really fun when you wanna use a straightforward deck, but it makes sense why people are more drawn to decks on the complex side.
@@neogeoray I agree! I like trying the more complex villains just because I feel like I have played the base game the most, so I want to try to play the ones I haven't played as much. I have heard some good things about the new set with PJ and Hook though!
@@shereadsmysteries i haven’t tried that set, but i hear good things about it too; especially the ursula rework. I have tried a few other sets and i gotta say, evil comes prepared has really fun decks. My fav is probably ratigan
My wishlist. 1. Headless Horseman (Ichabod) 2. The Big Bad Wolf (3 Little Pigs) 3. Long John Silver (Treasure Planet) 4. Gantu (Lilo and Stitch) 5. Willie the Giant (Mickey and the Beanstalk/Fun and Fancy Free) 6. Clayton (Tarzan) 7. Hopper (A Bug's Life) 8. Stinky Pete (Toy Story 2) 9. Doris (Meet the Robinsons) 10. Madam Medusa (Rescuers) I think characters like Shan Yu, Frollo, Radcliffe, Stromboli (or the Coachman), and the Chernabog are actually very difficult. Most of their goals are about genocide, kidnapping, or assaulting people. Its not to say they could never make it work but its awfully difficult.
I'm still confused on how this ranking is defined. Is this your enjoyment of the villains? At one point you mention how strong they are and then competitive and then how swingy the villain is. Very sad seeing Gaston at the bottom. Love playing as him
I would say our enjoyment is the way we ranked them. Some rank lower because of thematic reasons, some rank lower because of mechanic reasons (resets, or too swingy/luck based, or repetitive)
Teachability or complexity is definitely a component of this ranked list. It will rank higher if it’s easier to teach, but also more fun and thematic, generally.
If you haven’t played too many games before I would get introduction to evil because it really breaks down the characters and is designed to make it more welcoming to new players. However i also think picking the characters that you like the best is also going to make it the most fun for you! This is with the exception of despicable plots which I think is the weakest in my opinion because of Gaston. Thanks for watching! Hope this is helpful!
Mother Gothel has got to be my bottom for sure. Great theming and everything, but impossible to play IMO. Picking a top is harder, but maybe it’s Evil Queen or Lady Tremaine to play. The theming is so great for all of them I think.

We tend to see a lot of ranking lists of best to worst, but how about a list that denotes which characters are best to use to teach someone else.
Teachability or complexity is definitely a component of this ranked list. It will rank higher if it’s easier to teach, but also more fun and thematic, generally.
Since characters can’t be purchased separately, of all the boxes so far, if you had to recommend one box to pick up, which one would it be?
If you haven’t played too many games before I would get introduction to evil because it really breaks down the characters and is designed to make it more welcoming to new players. Yes, love this!! Lady Tremaine was probably our biggest surprise villain! Love her.
yeah, gothel is another one where making progress is pretty luck based and her fate cards can very easily reset whatever progress you've made
Have you guys heard anything about the solo rules for this game and what can you recommend? 😅
Haven’t tried any of the solo rules! I would check BoardGameGeek to see what folks come up with :)
@terredicegames I was wondering who is the best player for the Original pack
Our highest ranked character from the original pack that started it all is Captain Hook!
@@TerreDiceGames thank you I have the original game but never played it yet so I can’t wait

Combination of all our experiences and how fun we find them. We enjoy Villainous best at 3 players!
My top 5 are Hades, Pete, Cruella, Hook, and Syndrome.
