Right you are, this game was arbitrarily loaned to me by a friend back in the day and put the Tales series on the map for me...not that I went on to play any of them. I put in more than 80 hours on my first play through, mostly due to being an inefficient RPG player trying to explore every nook and cranny and spending way too much time navigating inventory menus. I did go on to play maybe half the game again in New Game+, but I think I burned myself out on RPGs by that point since I really have not picked one up since. Or maybe it was such a satisfying experience I didn't want to risk ruining it with a lesser title. Thanks for the in-depth retrospective and look forward to more!
You know, getting I hate Gels was actually a lot more easy than I thought it would be and no I did now I did not run fom a single battle. Except for if running from battle was mandatory. words of advice; Cook, Inns, Magic. Stay on top of Raine’s TP gauge if she’s in the party, cause she will burn all the way through her MP trying to keep up with yhe damage we’re receiving right now. As was the Eternal Apprentice totally could be.
I remember when it was announced. I planned on holding off until the GameCube got more games so I wouldn't be just buying a console for one game. Then I decided to pre-order it just to have on hand. Then I ended up buying a GameCube when I picked up the game. I do have to confess I wish you would of covered a bit more in detail about the differences for the PS2 version of the game. While I do know that would result in a drastically increased amount of work you need to put into creating this great video, it would of given a more comprehensive look at both titles. More importantly, it helps potential consumers decide if it would be worth buying a Gamecube and the game for the 60 FPS, or if the additional content and dual voice options were worth the cut back to 30 FPS for the PS3 version. Really looking forward to your thoughts on Legendia. I remember enjoying it at first, and the fact that we finally had a melee main character. However, as the story progressed things begin to go downhill from there fast.. but heya, Shinna Go composed the soundtrack and we got the Samurai Champloo character designer!

Next one is here and I'm happy to be commenting once again. Still through, still entertaining and still very much passionate. Still keeping the strong quality up. Always worth the wait. Also something so damning about seeing the "Only for" logo on a game that would eventually be ported to PS2, much like 3 of the Capcom 4. Was that just the thing for many companies? When in doubt on the gamecube, drop exclusivity to jump the PS2 ship!

I really hate the Ex Skills to learn new skills, I guess they wanted to not be with your favorites all the time trying to balance them all, since this may be the game that has the most playable characters of all the series... Aside from spin offs.
Well, Legendia would be the least popular in english anyway. In japan, I think that would go to Tales of Tempest for the DS hands down. (Which does have a fan translation, done by the same people who did the PSX Phantasia fan translation)
I have the PS3 version which cost me 15€ 2nd hand. Slovenia is weird with video games either 2nd hand, find the German release in a store or maybe find it in a game store for far too much.
After playing a little the save file of my friend from the ps4 collection... I hated the Ex Skill system and menu... Why those choices of words... Why not let them as natures as pokemon or recipes to make better use... Dont approve, as well as the Legendia one and there was even more simplified.
This is the only Tales game I've played and I have to say it's pretty overrated. Nothing about it really stands out besides the combat which was fun to play co-op. Are there any Tales games with better story and characters? Because I found Symphonia's pretty dull.
+Floydthefuckbag Well this game *is* the Final Fantasy VII of the Tales of Series, so that statement can be vouched for. At least they weren't as force fed to us compared to a certian game starring a blue robot.
I loved this game ever since I watched my brother play it on his GameCube when we we were kids. So many nostalgic feelings...
