- This one was a demolition derby!
It's cliche, but Mayhem is the word to describe the Street Stock Race at Bowman Gray on Saturday 8-13-22.
From the opening lap when the front row starters of Brian Wall and Zack Staley got together sending Wall into the wall, to the final crash of the night that ripped parts and pieces off half-a-dozen cars from 2nd place back!
It wasn't technically a full moon but since the super moon was in the preceding days, there must have been some leftover juju juice for this event.
The final crash happened as Taylor Robbins, starting second, didn't come up to speed on the restart. Billy Gregg, with nowhere to go, ran into Robbins, ripping body panels and suspension components from both of their cars.
Other cars piled in as the track was blocked headed into turn one.
This crash set the stage for the race to end by the time limit rule giving the win to Zack Staley, his first win of the season.
I think it's safe to say we're not any of these people in Cup racing in the near future.
That guy single handedly took out almost the entire field. Such a proud moment
These drivers must be ultra wealthy to rebuild their race car after running at Bowman Demolition Derby. LOL
I would NEVER bring my car to B/G. These guys don't know how to drive side by side

@@racingmach1 20 yrs ago, we had a car DQ'ed for the season for this reason. Had made parts of the roll cage out of exhaust pipe. Had a big wreck, exposed the right side of the roll cage as tin. Banned from 2 other tracks for life for pulling that stunt.

The thing I’ve noticed on UA-cam the past couple years is how I seldom, if ever, see anything about the modifieds! They were the headline makers for years with the various rivalries between Jr. Miller, Burt Myers & Tim Brown. Are the mods no longer the hot item? I haven’t been to BG since before they did the TV show, but I NEVER missed a Saturday night in the 70’s! One things for sure, the race car parts vendors love this place!

I have read that Busch Clash track is very similar to Bowman Gray. Id love to hear from those who attend races at Bowman Gray. They look the same to me. Ill betya if they held the Clash at THIS track they would make more of a profit in the short run
I'd love it! BUT -- BGS only holds 18,000 people. They may could squeeze in 25k with some outside the box thinking. The LA Coliseum holds will hold 70k set up for the race and they sold about 50K of the tickets. Then there's the exposure factor in LA. The event on TV, in LA, drew attention of a lot of people, because LA! And most of the fans who bought those tickets had NEVER been to a NASCAR race...and said they would now. NASCAR didn't likely lose money on this event...but even if they did....it can be counted toward building the fan base. They would lose money at BGS.
@@chris8video how many of those showed up for the music “artist” and how much did they pay said artist. On the other hand the event got people of all walks of life to attend and the event was held where the big money sponsors dwell. 18 k is more than they are drawing in an awful lot of venues. My SE Wisconsin home isnt one of em, 100k PLUS with Milwaukee Mile closeby. Whatever, youre track absolutely ROCKS and the only thing holdin them back is they just dont wanna.

This is NOT racing, this is whomever spins the most cars.
Its entertaining, but not even close to real racing, most of these drivers would be destroyed at a real race track where skill is involved.
One of the Myers brothers came up north with his modified . Bearly made race if I remember correctly had got taken out cuz he couldn't run side by side on a 5/8 mile track
Somewhat true but there is a specific skill to this track , and not just crashing people
You obviously have never been, it’s the finest racing to its core, that’s why it brings sold out crowds every Saturday night people hate that cup racing bs, riding around for 4 hours straight, no action and no point to it, it’s all points racing, short track is just better and this is the best short track...
I'd call this a no contest. Roll the purse over to next week. This is a pathetic excuse for a "race." I would be embarrassed to even be in it.
Lets checker for time, then allow 15 minutes for hotdogging and pictures.

I love Bowman Gray to death but if k train and Bryant Robertson won't to be dumb ass's and try to kill people because there upset they have no skill and no car so be it ( taking out a teenager because they spins u out once or twice shows there maturity) great vid otherwise I had to vent ( 13 is k train and the black and blue 72 is Bryant Robertson)
98 lifted up 2nd place on the restart and turned her and caused the biggest wreck, he had the most time not to crash someone by letting off.

I beg to differ if you can stay up front with all the people up your ass and putting the pressure on you I call that one hell of a driving job just to keep it real if you was in front of me on that narrow of a track I would move you out of the way to if I can get to your rear bumper your not going fast enough
I'm sure the University enjoys having their football field destroyed by race cars doing donuts after the race when football season is 2 weeks away or less. I guess the Racers don't know what the orange cones are for.
