How has the housing situation currently happening in the USA and Canada affected the housing market down there? It has definitely changed from a sellers market to a buyers market in most markets up here. Prices are dropping big time. Has that trend made its way down there yet?
We have been suffering from a lack of inventory. Look at ours and every other agents web sites, there are barely any 2 bedroom villas for sale in the main gated communities.
There are new construction apartment projects popping up between Sosua and Cabarete.
The roads are extremely busy, the beaches are currently full of family vacationers.
Remember this is mainly a retirement or pre retirement destination, most people put their money away to buy here years ago. Its also a cash buyer environment, very few banks have loans on properties here, specially foreign owned, as the process is long, drawn out and frustrating. And carrying costs can be covered by 10 days short term rental in most cases, hence the lack of urgency for sellers to sell low.
@@DRPropertyGuys we definitely do check the websites and UA-cam videos. I would agree that there is definitely a lack of quality stock out there if you’re looking at resales. Building may be the way to go right now.
