Great video Marc, this aircraft is intimidating for a beginner as I've decided to learn airliners with this one first since it's study level. Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. Keep in mind that in this scenario FAP speed is Vref+5. This is for wind correct and also so that the AT doesn't go below Vref speed.

Thank you very much! My airplane always swerved at the last moment and this was already almost making me uninstall the simulator ... now I realized that it was because I never put the ILS code manually (accustomed to the A320)... congratulations for the excellent video!!!

I think the landing elevation is used by the pressurization system to now how fast it needs to depressurize during descent, similar to Boeing 737, as you can see not that precise (50 ft). did you click final approach? I was told that it would reduce speed automatically for you... also, is that mandatory to disable ATHR before turning off the autopilot? I was used to the a320 mode
You can land it with the ATHR on, but make sure you set your throttles to idle before you touch down or it'll yell and scream at you the moment you touchdown.
I can see this a great video for those who already have working knowledge of this aircraft. Is there a learning site that explains step by step instructions and for those of us who need to start from square one? Push this, twist that, set this, etc. without knowing what it is, or what it exactly what it does, keeps us beginners in constant frustration, and on the ground.
I think you'll be hard pressed to find a more detailed tutorial that can get you off the ground faster than this. I try and keep a balance between explaining the most important concepts that you absolutely must know and getting you airborne as fast as possible, because for me there was nothing more frustrating than spending hours on the ground rather than actually flying the plane.
I presume that in the real, in the commercial sector, it’s the company typically filing the flight plan and selecting the most time/fuel efficient waypoints, cruise speed/altitude, etc. and the pilot can override the plan for specific reasons (such as inclement weather)?
My understanding is the dispatcher prepares the flight plans, but the pilot in command has some input and they can change stuff if needed.
I used vL to capture the localizer. But when I got the glideslope using the Land command it wouldn't descend. What step did I miss? The rest of your instructions worked great. Okay I tried it again and I got the Land command to work. Thanks
My guess would be the altitude on the autopilot panel. Make sure you set it to the altitude of the Final Approach Fix before the glideslope comes alive and you press the land button. Also make sure that you only go to Land mode once the Glide slope is shown on the PFD. I hope that helps!
One question why is the
Xbox controller not sync with this plane when I press the a button for gas it responds later the plane why and the others as soon as I press the button I see the power/knots line move??
Hi Fernando, the a310 is an old airplane and the engines take some time to spool up, unlike modern airliners which respond much faster to throttle changes.

Thanks Nelson! I think the three that I meant were ILS Autoland, ILS to minimums then hand fly, RNAV to minimums then hand fly.
iniBuilds developed this plane….the one that is included in the premium deluxe version? Are there any FedEx liveries that do away with all the windows?

Great tutorial, but I have 2 questions:
- Does the plane slow down to approach speed automatically when I engage Final Approach mode on the MCDU?
- Is it possible to select the speed in profile mode, or it is possible just in level change mode?
For your first question, if the auto throttle is on, yes it should slow down for you. For the second, no, the whole point of profile mode is it controls it for you.

I was trying to practice takeoff and landing from/to VGSY. Takeoff from rw 29, selected approach trans. D230L, ILS approach rw 11. Freq 111.50, crs 115. After take off I flew HDG SEL, then DIR TO D230L. But the plane can't navigate to D230L. So, I reverted to HDG SEL again. Tracked the nav path with HDG SEL. Any suggestion?
Then I set at intercept hdg 085 deg, pressed V/L button. LOC blue avail. Then during LOC*, then pressed LAND and engaged 2nd AP. GS* appeared. Plane fails to intercept GS. I had to go to VS mode. Then do the landing in a clumsy way. Any help please? Kindly note, I presently don't maintain active subscription to Navigraph.

Hi Haseen, the GS might not be capturing because of the altitude you have set on the autopilot. Try setting it to the minimum descent altitude before you reach the point where you arm the GS mode and it should intercept and descend on GS.

I set altitude at 2,000 ft. in the FCU as per chart, flaps 15, 170 kts. What I am trying to say the AP NAV mode is failing to track the lateral path when DIR TO is used. Could you please try the flight for me? It appears to me the waypoints in the approach path are displaced. If I update nav database of msfs 2020 with Navigraph, will the situation improve? I think A310 is using the default msfs 2020 nav data.
@@haseenahmad7638 The only thing I can think of is there is a discontinuity in your route and it’s causing NAV mode to not know which way it’s supposed to go. Hope that helps.
I'm flying the a300, same cockpit. I was on a very shallow interception angle. The aircraft turns the opposite direction and throws me way off. Had to quit and close vatsim due to a busy controller to avoid confusion. Nav mode set to ils. Ils freq and course set correctly and verified. Flying on heading mode and I switched to nav at the lateral diamond started moving (showing I need to intercept). It's like it turned way way way way too much and failed to catch anything
I had to turn right it to capture and a/p turned left sharply and drastically
I’ve seen that happen to me too, had to step in quick. Since then I’ve taken the habit to always look in the PFD and see what the active and standby lateral modes are at the top in green (Active) and white (next active mode)
@FlightSimSchool are you supposed to hit v/l for localizer capture or nav?? I feel I hit nav and it tried returning to the last heading fot nav which was a discontinuity due to the arrival routing with atc
It's definitely V/L, and I think it's best to wait unti the diamond appears before hitting it (I know that's the case with the 737, I believe the 310 is the same)

Sorry about that. I tend to edit the airplane setup stuff a bit tight, but I’ll try to let it breathe a bit more in future videos.

MCDU; basically the FMC in Airbus world.
Does this work the same in the a320NX
Nah, the A320 is different, but a bit simpler. I tend to think of the A310 as mid-way between a Boeing and an Airbus; you can see where Airbus copied a lot of stuff from Boeing, but you can also start to see where the 320 came from.
since the last update ILS landings are awful !!! dont follow approach correctly and land skewwhiff and I end up crashing and there is nothing I can do about it, beautiful graphics but thats about all this sim is as bad as FSX if not worse and I have it on PC and Xbox Series X abs they are both crap !!!
It sucks you’re having that experience. Did you try a full uninstall and reinstall?
@@FlightSimSchool I have paid for Navi graph subscription and made a test flight plan through Simbrief and it works fine up to now, I really do like this sim but it is very frustrating, anyway thank's for the concern
@@FlightSimSchool oh my It's f up again had to reset windows this time because items where missing from regestry, so have done a clean install W10 amd dowloaded MSFS now just waiting for 75 gig of content to install and we are back in the hunt, never give up!
Oh man. Hopefully once everything is re-installed you’ll be set. I have heard a few people say that full clean installs have helped them with crashes to desktop.
@@FlightSimSchool Yeah well these things happen especially with a PC but I have Xbox series X which I do not like as much as the PC version as the keyboard works same but the mouse is completely diferent and too slow also their are little 3rd party addons such as my latest which is Passenger2 which if you havn't already checked out you should it's way ahead of Air Hauler 2 and Self loading Cargo of which I have both and also Gsx Pro !
Mentioned selected an "approach" button but NEVER showed that. Terrible video
