Hi there, I'm a retired over the road truck driver, this is your best show yet, am really glad I subscribed to your channel, my RV is 23 yrs old and constantly being renovated, good thing is I own it, if I have one single piece of advice to offer it is to constantly be on the lookout for trouble of any sort
Yep! Maintaining, including repairing or replacing, is another thing that is a constant just like any other home would be! We hit an elk last September, took 4 months to repair (not due to shortage of parts but due to incompetence of the shop), and this year a tree limb fell onto the coach from weight of heavy snows. Engine AC compressor died, so another costly replacement and a water line broke. We winterized but this was a plastic fitting that was replaced on the fly last summer while camping. With an RV---it’s always something..but still: we love it!
@@PineGeri Thanks for such a nice reply, I retired after 30 years of driving, am very familiar with the things you can run up against, for now I have a section of roof to replace in my RV

Generally, don’t talk about your own assumptions, judgements, experiences and values unless asked. Ask questions about their opinions and experiences, but don’t argue them. Just absorb the information. Make your evaluations and judgements on your own time for your own personal needs. As a tent camper, I ask questions about things like tow-ability, living space, amenities, setup/tear-down, cost of operation, storage, etc… anything you’d ask an RV dealer.
😂😂😂 you two are too much! We, the rver, are exactly like you said! Friendly, but with some reservation, not that wealthy but willing to spend it to live it, capable but sometimes very “needy”….and most of all, the BEST of who we want to be; a great rver friend! Great video! 😂
Thank you thank you thank you so much!! I m into my 4th year of vanlifebwith my dog. The assumptions n nosey stupid questions etc are so extremely exhausting. You made me laugh so hard!!!! Thanks much!!
Yes, your RV is very nice. How nice your children can visit places most children read about in a book or watch a vlog. Travel is the best form of education. Pamela
Haha love this episode. Love the bloopers especially the dark environment angle. 😎😎😂😂⛽️⛽️. I can’t wait to become a full timer driving around homeless with a full tank. 😂😂
“ trust fund baby” first time for that one. For the most part I’ve only had pleasant encounters in campgrounds. I’m glad you guys are out there, taking the pulse of the RV communities.
The "perpetual vacation" comment was one that really bugged me when we took a "gap year" from employment to travel with our two boys. It's a lot of work knowing we had "x" amount of money in savings we couldn't spend more than. And it's A LOT of work trying to find where you'll be next month, next week, or tomorrow night. We constantly had to be in tune with the weather, especially out west. It's stressful but oh so rewarding!
We look forward to leaving next year on a 4 year “perpetual vacation”… the only difference between other vacations & this travel experience is that we have 4 years and not 3 weeks to see North America. It is going to take a lot of planning to see the stuff we want & balance it with length of time allowed in the US & Mexico. We’ll be our bosses of ourselves, we’ll, our bank account will also have a big say in our travels too. We’re going to be the retired couple with their large dog. And loving it.
Oh this so true We were called the Richy Riches my response was everyone is entitled to beat their drums their own way. Myself I love that even tho some RVs are super big other small. Everyone is just living their best lives As Frank Sinatra said: I did it my way ❤
This was a great video. I'm a retired widow that travels with my two dogs. So I would add this question to your list: Aren't you afraid to be parking around strangers all the time? Isn't it awfully dangerous?
This is a great, and at times hilarious, video, like all of the ones you guys post! It's actually a lot of common-sense etiquette that can be applied to all life in general, not just as it pertains to RV'ing. We have met some of the nicest, most memorable, people from all over the country, even from other countries, while RV'ing.
We've been RVing part time since 1996. This video totally cracked me up! So many things you said are so true! You forgot about the completely obnoxious, "party people" loud late at night and early morning, pooping- barking, dogs, next door neighbors also! LOL
And they always stick their nose in our business because my adult son is blind and always walks with a cane. "Oh, I'm so sorry, what happened to him!" Got tired of explaining, just say he's fine and we walk away!
@@deassfgh7807 When people are curious about something they know nothing about, or feel uncomfortable because the special needs person is "different" they sometimes say something ,but don't know how to say it nicely. Most of the time were in a good mood so just ignore, answer polite, then walk away. Our blind son is extra sensory to TOTALLY screaming children non-stop is sometimes hard for him. We just usually run the A/C or fan to drown them out but sometimes were not fully hooked up to do this.
We like our RV because it's a small space and our blind son is really happy camping in his "tiny home" LOL. He doesn't like big hotels, miles of trying to navigate blindly through walkways and hallways, strange rooms, etc. He can also get a snack our of our fridge or pantry with no hassle (not like eating out at a hotel ) Plus, he feels really happy camping because it's his own private space and he feels comfortable and safe:)
It's so funny because I met a couple and we talked so long! We shared tips, tricks, apps and I mentioned being stressed about internet because I didn't find it yet. I needed it to be good, fast, stable etc. They told me what they used. We text chat sometimes and although I had mentioned when we met and in chat about work, at some point I was asked if I was retired. 😂 I was shocked not only that my work comments had been skipped so often but that was their thoughts. Then came the I thought you inherited or won the lottery. I wish! 😂 Lottery not inheritance 😅 Either it was so much in their thoughts when I mentioned anything about work it went silent or they kept forgetting, maybe because their thought was stronger then the rest. If that makes sense. 😅
Hey there! We just bought our first RV a month ago and are due to start major DOWNSIZING and move in a few months from now....Love your channel! Yall are great...looking forward to watching more of your videos!
I love this video! Ty! I live in old Class A, some parks have turned me away bc they don't take anything over 10 yrs old. Sad. I've been working on fix ups as I earn, it's not bad but not new and very sure I'll still be turned away. I LOVE MY RV AND ENJOY all upgrades I do, it takes time. I love the people I've met along the way! Thank you again! Safe travels always!
.. Also have run into this ,, 36 year old class C ,, like new conditions and improvements along the way ... Not only rv parks but roadside river areas closed off by BLM ..
2:51 Liberty Harbor RV "Park"ing lot in Jersey City. We know this place very well and go there once a year to get our run around JC and NYC. Lots of fun!
Thanks, Charity. I have camped my whole life. Not over the road yet, but soon. My parents did it 8 months out of the year for years. They have since passed and I know what they are doing......LOL Love your Channel!!! Thanks!!! :):):)
A great video, we are trying to decide about a new mattress. Definitely want Brooklyn bedding, just not sure if we should get a medium or firm. I'm more petite and my husband is 6ft 4 and weights a little over 200lbs,
when i was a teenager, i had some rv traveling lady ask me in this parking lot... which way is north? as teenager was not exactly sure.. but i said kinda that way.. (which i was right)... she goes, you live here and dont even know which way north is??? i go... you travel around and dont know which way north is???? she all ummpppfffttt walks away.
You guys crack us up!!!! Also we just finished watching RV Unplugged. Go Rambo!!! Great job Ben with your flag attempt. So sorry to you you eliminated. We were rooting for you!
Oh my gosh almost a year full-time, we have seen a lot been through a lot and had our freshly clear black tank dumped when our neighbor had a black tank accident, verbal political attacks....use to be more social but now more of reclusive camper!🙉🙈🙊 😂
Ok I do have a question about your mattress? So we have gotten a free used mattress years ago from a 5 star hotel and Lola behold it’s a RV King mattress but we are do if a new one! So my question is is a Rv mattresses good for a everyday mattress?
I have heard you talk about your roof and having something on it to protect it. I looked for the video but I could not find it. Could you please tell me or link the video below? We are wanting to get a class A and I want to get the roof protected.
What you said about assumptions and how an “not so great looking” RV can be remodeled and completely luxurious on the inside, made me think of my question. What do you think about many campgrounds not allowing RVs older than 10 years? I think it should be at leas based on sight - a texted photo or something -that it’s the only fair way to do it. 😢
Hey so we are going full time in about year & half and we have people asking us so where are going to live after the year or two that you do this. I just get so upset not sure what to say!
Tell them maybe after you travel for a while you’ll know! There are so many amazing places and we’ve seen many full time travelers come off the road after several years but “basing” in a completely different state because they fell in love with it during their travels.
Hello again another awesome video this one everything you said is so true I’m a retard truck driver and I enjoy going away. I’m not full-time camping, but I do go away and I try to go away to state parks just to get away from everybody but over the years things have changed and it’s very hard to go to a state park without having to look at everybody’s party, lights, and all that, I try to go where there’s no electric no hook ups at all so I can be alone and relax and unwind. Thanks again and keep up the hard work.
How about if you ask a question, listen for and honor the answer. I was asked by another RVer if I wanted help backing into a site and I politely said, "No, thanks." He then proceeded to give me commentary and "help" in backing in and setting up. Come on, man, "no" means no!
Ben and Charity as always you give good advice with a ton of hummer ha! ha! ha! say hello to Alaska for me, hopefully in the next three years the Lord will see my plans comes to reallity and convert a Van into a class B RV and than we can meet someday Lord willing.
Just dont speak to you then because you seem to be too sesative or touchy. People make assumptions about peopke every day, it's human nature. To make a video stating what people should never say to you or any RVer is a bit if a control freak kind of issue. The first amendment is a right remember.
