Every female justice, including Coney Barret, picked by Trump, questioned Trump's immunity claim, while the male justices were more concerned with a President being targeted by the justice department. A question the justices didn't ask is, who rules on what is an 'official act'. If the answer is ultimately the President, it doesn't matter what they do, a criminal President would define everything as 'official'.

It's a tricky one. There certainly should be immunity, but determining its extent is difficult. Both of the current New York cases are non-presidential acts. However, in both cases there is no crime. The 'Hush Money' one should be a civil case, but it shouldn't have been brought to court, because the statute of limitations has been exceeded. The crooked DA, Alvin Bragg, hates Trump and he has changed the case to a federal case. There is no federal crime, though. If there was, the FBI would have taken it up.
The other case is only in court, because the crooked Attorney General, Letitia James, who campaigned for AG on a 'Get Trump' ticket (fact), despises Trump. She got a crooked judge, Ergoron, to take the case. There was no crime in this case, and Ergoron asserted Trump's guilt from the start (fact).
So, if you consider these two examples, both are politically motivated cases. Brought only to interfere with the election and rooted in hate. Both fall outside of official presidential duties, but both being used as tools to persecute a previous and prospective president. Shouldn't he, and other future presidents, have immunity in such scenarios?

The problem is that it's difficult to have a test that satisfies every possible scenario. You do need to look at each case on its merits. This is why the Supreme Court's actions are so frustrating: They're going on an academic discussion regarding immunity. 'But what about this scenario? And what about that one?' It's obvious, however, that in this case, Trump should not enjoy immunity. He took the actions he took not because he believed there was genuine fraud, etc., but because he wanted to stay in power. This isn't opinion - it's fact. We know he's lying etc.

I once referred to the 2020 'riots' as a putsch. The events on Jan 6th have much more in common with Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch than they do with a mindless riot or a centrally co-ordinated insurrection. They were also much more dangerous because they were at the seat of government rather than in a Beer Hall in Munich. Trump is dangerous and the US justice system needs to find a way of pinning at least one of the criminal charges on him and making it stick so the judges can lock him up.

The argument of presidential immunity from legal prosecution is flawed from its roots up. It contradicts the basis of theTrias Politica, the equality of the three main institutions of the State the Administrative, the Legislative, and the Judiciary. Immunity from prosecution would grant the Administrative superiority over the other two institutions. The Administrative branch holds the monopoly on State violence with the President C in C of the armed forces.

SCOTUS could spend years exploring the theoretical scenarios in order to write the most perfect clarification possible and they will have succeeded in just the delay Trump and his supporters want (and need?).
A more pragmatic approach would be to recognize there is a straight forward and uncomplicated meaning that disallows Trump to take such liberties at this moment. Then, revisit the case following the findings of the current court's decision. Evaluate the specifics that apply to the wording in the Constitution!
This getting out in front of it is a fools game that is an obvious political advantage for Trump... maybe the actual goal of some justices which is of questionable merit!
