I swear whenever Stephen mentions the word "fantasy" you can see the gears turning in his head trying to figure out "how can I shift this conversation towards LOTR without it seeming forced?" and it always seems his segues to LOTR always seem calculated but he has this look on his face like "man that segue was smooth" and it never really is.
It's hilarious.
Love your comment!
The man worked hard and suffered many years of torment and toil for his nerd cred. I think he's allowed to pop his collar about it once in a while. But yeah, it will always be funny mixed with a small dash of cringe.
Nicholas Rodriguez...aaaaand you took a comment about Colbert's love of LOTR and thought it was relevant to inject how he expresses his politics (but I suspect your beef is probably more about _what_ his politics are) into the discussion. You sure you're talking about Stephen and not yourself?
You did actually think "man that was smooth" when you hit the reply button, didn't you?
Huh. Vvxz.
Wha is LOTR stands for ? Does it mean long term Relation?
Stephen never misses an opportunity to show hoff he's a big LotR nerd
Because there's truth in fiction.
Showing David Hasselhoff he's a big LotR nerd?
And we love him for that :D
Didn't he even had a cameo in the Hobbit?
..and who doesn't? 👏👏👏
Okay but Emma and Dwayne are pure cuteness overload. The way she keeps absentmindedly petting and scratching him? My heart melted.
Just watch Maniac. So addictive, so unique, so creative. I got hooked. The roles are created for Emma and Jonah! I'm so happy to watch this movie.
same
M
Movie?
it's a show lol
@@groovin-soul Ngau was talking about a movie. In addition to Maniac, Ngau is also a really big fan of K-Pax.
*_"Are you a big fan of when Frodo meets Dumbledore?"_* 🤔😂 Good one, Stephen.
That's one of the greatest moments in the entire series! I always remember when Dumbledore then taught Frodo how to use the Force - pure magic!
Ahh, I remember. That's the scene where JRR Tolkien Stan Lee'd as a bartender.
That was Christopher, not JRR. Chris is stirring up some nice cold Miruvor for the group. Any real fan would know this...
@@davidb6576 Hence why I said Tolkien. Because he is dead, you can't have him in the movies. Implying that I'm trying to bullshit Emma.
@@davidb6576 Also, true. I'm not a real fan, and really, who cares.
She has impeccable comedic timing.
"Dwayne, wake up; we're gonna watch Lord of the Rings!"
7oo00000ogyu8y55yu
*puppy wakes up* zoinks!
She's a clever one. Just knows how to put the cherry on top and close out a spot with tonally perfect call-back, reintegrated into the context of the cute little dog. She's the best.
If Emma Stone uttered the words "I'd do anything with you" to me, my brain would shut down for the next 5 minutes before I could even dream of responding.
i would've just blacked out and drooled everywhere
@@user-vc5rp7nf8f, right?
I think mine actually did just hearing it. Wait why is the puppy asleep now.
Penny Lane this may be the most accurate comment I’ve ever read on UA-cam
Well, that is surely the worst time for your brain to give out...
Emma Stone is such a special kind of person... one of a kind. i really adore her for how she is.
Special is an understatement...she's a special "Kind" of breed.
She is the actress of her generation and one of the most beautiful, charming and relatable people in the business.
I didn't watch the interview at all. I was focused on the sleeping puppy 😍
That pup reminds me of my old dog, Brownie. He was brown...and a dog.
I guess we weren't very creative with dog names.
I to was focused....... On the red head!
It was a lot more interesting to be fair
Do you know why though...?
Vip V I have always liked stone
Man, for all the people saying that this was super awkward I expected something super cringy...but this was actually quite nice, it felt like a real chill talk, and the awkward moments were few and didn't feel awkward as in "This feels forced" it felt natural awkward...okay that made no sense but YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!
Yes! It just felt like a normal convo, when you dont know someone that well, the talk gets bumpy and awkward, just like real life
So... you read the comments before you watch the actual video?! xD That would put me off youtube forever I think... just scrolling most regular comment sections get me instantly depressed..!
They are millennials... they probably find walking to the fucking store "awkward" or "cringe".
@@yoshim2406 lol wut
@@yoshim2406 It's more of a gen z thing. We millennials are getting old now.
Her skin is so flawless and i am in love with her
I simply ADORE the fact that Stephen included on his show this support to rescue animals!! The drop i needed to just definitely LOVE him!!!!
Thank goodness they were rescue puppies, and not like ... I dunno. Kittens? How awkward might that have been?
Oh stop it. People that are going to get a rescue dog will go and get a rescue dog. I on the other hand want a top tier pure bred and I'm willing to spend $3,000 for quality. Just like if I were to adopt a human I want the healthiest best behaved kid that didn't have drug addict parents. That doesn't mean that you have to live like that. By all means adopt that kid.
Having three grand is not all that impressive, dude. Especially if it's made up. The internet means you can just make up shit, you know that, right?
Turquoise Cheetah The dog breed I want can't be found at a local rescue. It is worth $3,000 for a reason. If it wasn't, the puppies would be sold for under $500. The beauty about capitalism is that there's a market for everything. If I want something I can get it via money. Poor people can get left over dogs left to die in a cage. I just don't want to do that. I want a specific dog and I don't get that choice when I go to a dog rescue. If I want a specific breed because that dog works with MY lifestyle then that's what I will target. BECAUSE THE DOG I BUY will not end up in a Rescue center. That needs to be capitalized. The dog that I will get will be perfect for me and my situation. I won't be an irresponsible person like most dog owners who are letting dogs get into that Rescue center to begin with. People who can't afford a dog, who has a dog not meant for their situation, etc.
But if I go to a rescue and they maybe have 1 in that breed, that's not choice. It's either I get that dog or I don't. I choose not to pick that low amount of choices.
Just binged Maniac - Its outstanding
So...help me out here...was Jonah's character already in a dream state at the beginning or just crazy because his faux brother kept popping in and out like Emma's did later on in the series?
@@fiveohfivethree - He has Schizophrenia and it appears that the drug trial has helped him
Honestly!
Yeah dude it's pretty damn good
Yeah I loved it also, it's a small trip into human psychology and mental distress. The scene when Emma Stone drops Wendy the Lemur off to the mother of the guy that killed her sister in the truck accident. Got such goosebumps, got cold sweats!
watching this between the break after 5th episode of maniac... so far it's caught my attention...everyone must give a try ..
5:34 "He's slightly prettier than you are." As pretty as Emma is... I agree, Stephen, I agree.
STEPHEN REPRESENTING US NERDS!! WELL DONE, WELL DONE FELLOW ELF!
He’s on a different level. Stephen is the Yoda of nerd, dude. I think as a kid he studied LotT like it was the Bible. Few people have tried to challenge him and have failed.
Yoda of a *Tolkien* nerd
All I saw was Dwayne the dog Johnson
I love that she's so real and often awkward and snarky too. Love how she quietly ragged on Stephen. Oh yeah and the puppy is the best. I'd love to see her play Princess Bean from "Disenchanted"
This interview felt more like a date where between 2 people who met through an online dating site, but the matching kinda messed up. Nerd meets girl
Emma: I'll do anything with you, Stephen.
Stephen: Cirdan the Shipwright is the oldest living elf in Middle Earth at the time of the books.
Nerd quizzes girl on elves and LOTR, then tells her that Orlando bloom is slightly prettier than she is. 10/10 gonna be a second date
Emily Ascepiter oh my dear no no, don't get triggered to this simple misunderstanding.
What Burgermeister actually meant is "when a nerd meets a girl", he's not saying what you think he's emphasizing. Sometimes, something men said make sense to other men but understood differently by women. Ok Ms Ascepiter?
ehehe, yeah, emily, might need to calm down a bit! I read it as "nerd meets, y'know, a normal girl who isn't into nerdy stuff" because that's exactly the joke they were doing. :3
The fact that you could be offended by the term 'girl' is baffling. Ah well, have a nice day...
Stephen didn't hear what Emma said... She said, "I'll do anything with you." A few people in the audience caught that. 😂😂😂
Sly Emma, lol. LotR and Chill...
He did but probably dodged it to avoid an even more awkward interview.
I WOULD LEAVE MY SPOUSE FOR HER LMFAOOO
Jacob Zondag I don't know, that Tiffany Haddish interview had him too. LOL.
So sad humans still don't know that fantasy is actuality lol.... IS THIS REAL LIFE IS THIS JUST FANTASY CAUGHT IN A LANDSLIDE NO ESCAPE FROM REALITY...
Everyone is talking about how weird it was, but I love the interview, was fun
She seems like a good guest where it doesn't really matter what's being talked about
yep
"We'll talk about this backstage"... when it's so awkward you're not even trying to hide it anymore
Stephen is the best!! I love how he interacts with his guests. he is so genuine! Love the guy!!
This interview was so chill and random I really loved it
the puppy sleeping on her lap is the cutest thing 🥺
Cute interviews, with or without puppy. I love Emma so witty when answering LOTR stuff.
Maniac was SUCH a fantastic Mini series!! I couldn't get enough of it!
Emma's giggle/laugh is so cute and funny 😂
This was a great interview and I love this woman.
When steven ask her does she like fantasy. Gave me so many flashbacks when I went on dates asking do you like sci-fi?
Jaison Abraham Wut. You don’t like Sci-fi?
She was just adorable. Emma is irresistible. Great interview!!
Maniac was VERY good.
Was? You're done already? Your Netflix has no chill.
It's very bingeworthy.
Agreed. It was weird but fantastic.
@@jries77 Agree
@@jries77 totally agree
Dwayne the napping puppy almost stole the interview. Good stuff.
Emma Stone is a Hollywood gem 💎
Emma trying to wrangle the puppy as a gift from Stephen too funny. 😁
Backroom "negotiation".
That was kind of weird because she had just said she was too busy for the dog she already has...
It’s funny when you watch Colbert be like “Oh I like this person” in the middle of an interview. You can tell he’s having fun with her improv style conversation.
okay at 4:07 the pup napping is so cute!!
Such a brilliant series. I wish more people knew about it
Emma Stone is f***** hilarious
She is a delight... one of a kind
Emma Stone is still one of my all time favorite comic actors. She is a fine dramatic actor as well.which is why I was a little peeved that Stephen left out her role in The Help.
I just love how that pup is just fast asleep during the whole interview
You gotta love Emma Stone. The discussion about LOTR was hilarious lol
she's uncomfortable with that dress isn't she
I'ld say she used the puppy as a skirt extension.
That's because she has those cottage-cheese-unfit-thighs-even-though-she's-skinny-because-she-doesn't-work-out-or-eat-healthy-like-all-americans.
boooo mean comment, boo!
I love it
@@Hypercube1729 She actually has very little cellulite - most women her age have more cellulite, so I'd say she probably eats well and exercises most of the time. But I guess you have so little contact with real women, that you wouldn't know.
Emma Stone AND a puppy? This is the best day ever!!! Also I love how subtle the whole conversation was. It like floating in and out of a bit and and an interview.
I loooove this video, it feels like a conversation rather than an interview
Skinny Jonah freaks me out
EpicMike very much a gaunt Ben Stiller
Fat Johan freaks me out, too.
Jonah freaks me out in general

I got sucked right in to Maniac and stayed up all night on Friday and binged the hell out of it. Loved it.
Good video man, keep up the good work
All the real charm, wit and endearing authenticity anyone could wish for combined with a refined elegance and beauty, and a sensuousness that is delicate, but irresistible. 10/10 and still rocking more than a decade later. Love this girl 4EVR.
She is never boring to watch. Love her.
Surprised this hasn't gone viral. One of the most chill pups I've ever seen. Such a lil cutie lap dog 🐶🐶
In six months you'll have to move to a bigger house. Or a bigger state.

she seems genuinely kind and cool
Cutest and nerdiest interview ever that we're ALL here for!
"Can you explain what maniac is about?"
"Not really."
She just explained it perfectly
That was awesome! Great chemistry between Emma and Stephen!
Loved that the band played Michael Sembello's Maniac!
Luckiest.

There are not many occasions where a talk-show host gets to reach out and scratch the gorgeous fluffy thing in his guest's lap. Not seen since Weinstein Toneit! back in the nineteen ninety mumbles. It used to go out about oh-two-thirty if I recall. Best guest: Sly Stallone. Best fluffy thing: Matthew Broderick.
he really did...LOL
When you're a star they let you do it
Absolutely disgusting comment thread. You people are sick and needed to be blocked.
i love how the dog just fell asleep on her lap
Maniac was an awesome show. Highly recommend it.
Cirdan the Shipwright is the oldest living elf in Middle Earth at the time of the books.
Are you sure it isn't Galadriel from Lothlorien? She came to MiddleEarth along with Feanor and the rest of the Elves when they left Valinor in pursuit of the Morgoth and the Silmarils. :)
No. Cirdan was one of the first elves, those awoken by Iluvatar in the Cuivienyarna. Galadriel was a third-generation elf, born after her kinsfolk had travelled to Valinor, in the Year of the Trees 1362. So she was born 1362 years AFTER Cirdan was born. (Or rather, awoke.)
Excellent! Gotta love LOTR scholars. I forgot Cirdan went back that far.
Aren't there some Maiar who are older than Cirdan though? I mean they are semi gods spirits who were there even before the creation of Arda and Cuivenen's lake.
Ah he was strictly talking about Eldar. Fair I missed that. Cirdan makes sense then indeed. And others Teleri elves who awoke at Cuivenen and never left Middle Earth
We have adopted our third feral cat. It’s hard work. They start out afraid of you but become your best friend. Sadie is sitting on my lap right now.
I love his LOTR knowledge. I wanna watch a segment of him just explaining LOTR
I’m about to finish Maniac and cannot explain to you what i’ve watched
Why do I love Emma Stone? There is no rational explanation for this.
4:43 her smile though lol she's adorable
The puppy just fell asleep. How adorable

Such a weird yet adorable interview LOL and the puppy?? OMG!!
Emma Stone is stone cold gorgeous.
the title of the video should have been "Dwayne the dog Johnson falls asleep in Emma Stone's lap"
The most interesting thing about this interview is watching the Dog's reaction and just how SUPER CHILL it is. At the end it is napping. I think I need that specific dog in my life.
My heart and eyes stayed in that CUTE puppie!♡♡♡
4:03 is where they talk about elves

Thanks for making the whole interview into one video. Other shows spread it into different segments which is very annoying
I so love that she does not lie in her interview 🤗🤗🤗
