This was endorsed by Veterans for Peace U.K., a group that was founded by veterans suffering from PTSD. What a brilliant way to convey their message - get a fantastic comedy actor to create an action man movie about the pain they suffer. Man, this is why I love U.K. humour.

This style of satire is pretty unique to the U.K. stemming all the way back to Python in the 70’s, through to Chris Morris (Day Today, Brass Eye, etc) in the 90’s. I’ve not really seen this style of satire from other countries.

I remember when the first xmen movie came out, i had the prof x toy. The legs were made of hollow plastic, and the joints were intentionally loose, making it impossible to stand. Legs just flailed around while the head & arms were fully posable. Hilarious
When I was a kid, in the early 90's, my dad offered me an Action Man for Christmas. We were playing with it together, and sudenly, one of the figure's leg broke. Daddy tried to fix the missing leg, but with no great results. He later told me "He is a great invalid of war, treat him with respect, now." This commercial brings up so much memories... I used to work a trucking company & there was a driver there that told me he had movement only once,every 2 weeks,& when it was time,it was @ that very moment.He had been in the desert & had contracted some kind of illness/reaction while there.I can't recall how we got on subject or if he told any1 else there.The struggle is real...f'ing nasty!

The problem is that civilians and pretty much everybody believes that the military to be anything more than a job. That's all it is. You're only part of the military for however long your contract is supposed to last. Beyond that they don't owe you anything aside from your pension. Those are the facts. If you work for Target for 4 years, you're not gonna expect Target to foot your medical bills 3 years after you've left the company. The military is the exact same way. Movies and media romanticize the military as if its this higher calling entity, but it's really not. It's just like any other organization/business. You're just a cog in a giant machine. A very replaceable cog. It's honestly your job as a vet to not bite off more than you can chew and to know your limits before you break them.

From almost getting his head blown off by a Vietcong sniper, to watching his best friend get turned into a spray of red mist during a mortar attack. He was lucky enough to come away alive and only with minor injuries that didn't disable him physically. However, his mind remained haunted by the stuff he had seen. He had very severe PTSD, and depression, following his time after the war, but now, I'm thankful he's not suffering anymore. He passed away from kidney failure, at the age of 74. R.I.P. GySgt Glenn Lorenzo Davis. 5/24/1948 - 10/31/2019.

I feel like the first step would be to....stop making so many veterans.
The problem is that civilians and pretty much everybody believes that the military to be anything more than a job. That's all it is. You're only part of the military for however long your contract is supposed to last. Beyond that they don't owe you anything aside from your pension. Those are the facts. If you work for Target for 4 years, you're not gonna expect Target to foot your medical bills 3 years after you've left the company. The military is the exact same way. Movies and media romanticize the military as if its this higher calling entity, but it's really not. It's just like any other organization/business. You're just a cog in a giant machine. A very replaceable cog. It's honestly your job as a vet to not bite off more than you can chew and to know your limits before you break them.

@@cascadianrangers728 My grandpa was Marine Recon in Vietnam. During his time, he saw many things that no man should. From almost getting his head blown off by a Vietcong sniper, to watching his best friend get turned into a spray of red mist during a mortar attack. He was lucky enough to come away alive and only with minor injuries that didn't disable him physically. However, his mind remained haunted by the stuff he had seen. He had very severe PTSD, and depression, following his time after the war, but now, I'm thankful he's not suffering anymore.
He passed away from kidney failure, at the age of 74.
R.I.P. GySgt Glenn Lorenzo Davis.
