@@jeanladoire4141 It's not that easy. For something in the public domain to count as your work, there would need to be substantial changes made to the original, to the point where it becomes distinctly different. You can't just shift something by 3 pixels and call it your own lol.

if I lost my job to AI I would feel humbled too. homeboy could have seen this coming years ago and like the smart ppl in the creative industry start his own marketing and use AI and do it better than his former boss(es) did. the way he is coping with all his efforts being stolen and saying that starting his own business is „scary and dangerous“. what is really scary and dangerous is being replacable in someone else’s company. if you run your own company, it won’t work without you therefore you will never lose your job to AI
@freakcrap1 According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), 20.8% of businesses fail within the first year, 40.9% within three years, 49.9% within five years, 65.8% within 10 years, 73.3% within 15 years, and 80% within 20 years. Both outcomes are scary I think homeboy. Glad I work at publix. These stocks are going up 😎
@@phantazem9381but have you asked why those businesses fail? Have you stopped to ask who even starts businesses and how they started? A lot of businesses, across all domains, are started without the owner being informed. They're just winging it. And a lot of registered businesses by people who don't even start working and close it down might make it into this statistic but idk their sampling methods. If you were informed mostly what it takes to run a successful business and did you homework by reading deep and wide into many successful entrepreneurs, you see they do things differently than the average business owner. Much differently. I know personally people who have made lots of money doing business, and they behave much differently than those who aren't too successful. I don't like that statistic that you shared. I think it's pretty stupid and shouldn't deter you from starting a business if you learn properly. Cuz unfortunately most people don't know what a business is.
I was arguing with a couple of AI bros over a year ago about this happening in the future. They called me dumb, not understanding how AI works, it will only help us artists and designers, how amazing it will be if i have to do way less work and get paid just as much.... I told them it will only push us out, lower our salaries, take away opportunities and make future generations feel pointless about even trying to learn these skills. Companies will just get rid of us. I was a scarecrow, a crybaby, boo-hoo i'm scared for nothing.... ... I wish i was :(
I think it’s both. It’s like any new piece of technology. Yes, some people do lose their jobs, but new jobs come out of it. For example, Microsoft excel removed the jobs all the data entry people and spreadsheet management folks since they were no longer needed since it was digital. But it created jobs in IT for people that now needed to know how to fix those computers and fix any issues with that software. AI is the same, someone will need to know how to create it, update it, fix it, patch it, and more importantly, USE IT. I think now more than ever you’ll see that most fields will require a strong background in technology or AI to prevent you from losing your job. As the work becomes more sophisticated and complex, your skills will need to too. (I do agree about the lower wage stuff but that’s a whole separate conversation about corporate greed).
@@ShadowMakesSomeArt In his example, the data entry and spreadsheet management folks need to reskill. The market is under no obligation to reward and compensate workers for utilizing the same skill for their entire careers. Sometimes there are skills that are just not valuable because more valuable solutions are developed. In the 30 years following the mechanization and mass industrialization of the automobile in the 1920's horses saw a nearly 85% reduction in population. This didn't happen because they got lazy or because automobiles are evil and kill horses. It also doesn't make the families that can purchase an automobile that is less maintenance, cheaper, and requires less knowledge to use evil. What happened was that there was simply very little work that a horse could do that would pay for its housing and hay. That doesn't mean there's zero horses today! Police use them, they're really popular here in the US for performances, sports, and hobbies, etc. There definitely will still be SOME people doing old things, but it will be both incredibly competitive and feature reduced compensation (supply and demand). It just makes sense for people to reskill when their existing market isn't worth the effort anymore. FYI: I was a machine learning engineer for a few years and work for the military on some similar things now. The best explanation and video on youtube I recommend to people about the subject of automation is by CGP Grey. I believe it's called: "Humans Need Not Apply" and was made almost a decade ago. It inspired me to get into the field as a high schooler. It's evergreen and nearly prophetic.
fr People don't understand how large companies abuse the market economy system simply because of their monetary advantage. We quite literally cannot do anything about it - statistically their ideas even have more representation in laws (at least in my country) than the average person. AI will only benefit those who have the monetary ability to use it effectively - at least on the scale of business we live in now. Companies seek more money - they do not have moral quandary beyond what they can get away with.
Your previous employer just enabled themselves to get destroyed with AI. What they did to you (stealing your designs and feeding them to AI) is 100% already happening to them and why would someone pay them for AI generated templates when they could cut out the middleman and prompt an AI themselves? It's complete hubris.

@@Jutastre very least legal fees would be cheaper so we could actually protect ourselves from illegal dealings, one of the few win win scenarios with ai.

Hey Nade, sorry to hear about your job loss! @@zinidinerahman4168 through out the history of computer science, ai has already gone through a few cycles of funding, hype and then disappointment on delivery resulting on cuts in funding and disinterest in research (that would be the winter). there are reasons to believe we are close to approaching the ai winter of this current cycle, some researchers have pointed out that we're simply running of data we can train ai models on and that at this stage more data would only give diminishing returns anyway, and also because of the flood of generated content found everywhere, current models are now being trained on the generated output other models created in the past which at best it doesn't make them any better and at worse leads to model collapse (models irreversibly degenerate due to corrupt data sets)
I wish legislation would require royalties being payed to the original artist when art is being used by generative AI, even when the company owns the graphics since the original contract was made before AI was wildly available.
If you are employed in a corporation and you think you are doing "art", you have serious mental deficiency. You are there to make product to sell. Nothing more.

Special education will be fine. Anything involving direct, hands on with people, will be fine. Therapists, special ed assistants, teachers, professors, so on and so forth. Creative work is getting slammed hard. The problem with AI is that it chokes upon itself, it needs new fresh content to keep up, and a big risk with AI is consuming its own content and learning from it, which is sort of like 'inbreeding' the model and causes lower quality output. Creative jobs, jobs where you 'repackage' information - journalists, artists, and so forth - are in the crosshairs of AI right now - but it won't last long.
You're probably fine. Kids can't be taught remotely, special or not. We trialled that in covid and now the upper-grade teachers are complaining that kids can't read. Yeah, that's why C418, the musician who made the music for Minecraft, retained his rights to the music in the game and game Mojang permission to use his content. That, as as opposed to being hired to the company and having them own the rights to his stuff. So that they couldn't bone him out of his work... This is likely why Minecraft has different music producers, now. He was asked to make more music for the game, but Microsoft probably refused to participate in the previous agreement and C418 wouldn't want to make music under a new agreement which didn't offer the same protections to his work (I use "possibly"/"probably" because I recall hearing this, but I haven't looked into it recently so I'm unsure of the exactness of the facts). Really sorry this happened to you, man. This is incredibly unfortunate, and I do hope you find a company who is happy to hire actual artists with ethical, no-AI training contracts. As someone in the games industry, my heart breaks for you and everyone impacted by this. I went into Game Dev with a hope for a design position (I went to another type of job but still in the industry). I’ve been hearing a lot of murmurs of artists, web designers and writers being replaced by AI but whenever I see the results of these AI… it’s absolutely soulless. It’s infecting a lot of the art fields and it makes me even more discouraged to jump in the art direction. I really hope there are laws in place to discourage companies from hopping on the AI train or at least a way to make companies disclose they are using AI. I wish you nothing but the best in your journey. ❤️
No, it's not soulless - just a stereotype to bash AI without really understanding the subject. I've had great art pieces with Midjourney, very impressive and emotional. It gave me an opportunity to be an artist and illustrate my fiction, which I could never have done otherwise.
3 years experience that is self taught is better than you think. It's quite valued in the industry, especially if you have a project you have been working on to show them, even if it isn't finished. It would deffos be an entry level position tho
It's such rarity to see someone talking so calm about such situation. I don't know you, but I wish you big luck until you wouldn't heavy need any in future. Now are times what will be teached about in couple of dozens of years. New era. As many as possible people should be now highly cautious and mindful about their lives and industries they work for. And what's the most important: everybody should really keep their heads. If you lose it now, nobody will find it for you. Keep calm and carry on ;)
If AI can ever design function convincingly and intelligently like FZD suggests, then we will have different problems. Function based design requires deep knowledge of a subject that can't be gained from diffusion models
Hey man, I'm a voice actor who's already seeing my potential squandered thanks to AI. At a Semi Pro or Amateur level of voice acting, people don't want to pay and would rather use AI (since it's mostly free) It's scary that AI can now pause, take breathes and all the things a human can do. The only benefit to my line of voice acting is my potential of getting into Anime or TV, since the industry is also looking to go to AI. It's a scary time, cutting both creative and fun jobs completely from us. Our lives are going to be ruined, and this will ruin our motivation It's a huge Shame!
I still can't believe how The Finals devs were PROUDLY announcing they were using AI for their voice work. Like how is that something to celebrate exactly??
Here's advice to you from someone who doesn't at all mind AI implementation in art, and will use it when I get my creative projects off the ground. Yes, moving forward you will probably never ever make a living wage doing voice work. That's just how it is. But there is still lots of artistic value in creating charming voices no one has heard before. Instead of doing "generic deepman" or anime softboy which any voice actor can do with enough practice, you could try to find Saturday Morning cartoony unique voices like Grey Delisle, Richard Horvitz, Cree Summer and so on. My opinion, as a cartoonist with projects I'm working on, I believe the ideal moving forward will be you hire a voice actor for one season and they're doing their human real voice, then from there once the performance style is et in stone, you use the Ai. So yeah, give that a thought. And no, I don't remotely care about your hurt feelings and I owe you nothing. My hostility now is because I imagine responses to my good faith, helpful advice will be shit on for me daring to consider working with useful time saving tools we all know AAA studios will abuse to turn a profit. Save your seething for your pillow, there is still value in hiring human artists for character design and other things, but human art isnt inherently better. There's nothing a human can make that an Ai won't be able to eventually replicate. Art is just an end product. Sometimes the behind the scenes is novel, and as a filmmaker I do feel a loyalty to that process. But that doesnt make the end product lesser. Ai will be responsible for narratives that move mountains with how fantastic the storytelling will be, and I alreasy like micro productions like Planet Mountain Doo and those SCP tiktoks.
@NeverlandsPhantom Using their voice for AI beyond one season, can get you in a lot of legal trouble without consent or an agreement for royalty. So, ensure to do a lot of research and be sensible. If you don't care about the actor, we for certain don't care about your project. So please be mindful of that fact and treat it as it is (a business) Also your analogy makes no sense, that's like saying any photographer can take a photo, any editor can edit, any animator can animate. Everyone is different and unique. Also, can you relax on being so condescending? You being okay with AI, is yet another reason your job will also be taken in the future.
@@Fidion Hey, are you alright? Also how does being a cartoonist make you know more about what AI is going to do to the creative arts industry than anyone else? A genuine question
I work for an evil insurance company that just bought an AI from google, pretending it as "in-house" product to our benefit. I am going to quit because of it. This has made me realize i can do it in a way that makes a statement. This needs to stop.
Nade i hope things go well for you. I think most people either haven't thought much about AI or are in denial about it. We need UBI yesterday and that isn't even close to enough. We have to start thinking about our transition to a society / world in which 95% of people don't have jobs. Anyways I think your attitude is awesome.
Well said. I’m prepared luckily as I can see it coming but many people are not aware or do not take it seriously.. Before UBI becomes a thing we’ve already entered a big crisis I suppose
The story you explained about your ultimate goal is basically exactly what I had hoped for myself, except with more concept art and concept design. I'm 18, and I keep losing more hope that my aspirations are possible. I've built up my art skills a lot, I feel I've become pretty good, especially for my age, but it sometimes feels like it doesn't matter if I can't make anything big out of it. I definitely don't plan on giving up on art or quitting, but I have doubts about how viable it'll be as a path for my future. With how fast the world is changing, it seems as though regardless of how well thought-out a long-term plan is, it can easily all fall apart, and all the preparations will have been for nothing. The world is more uncertain than ever, and no plans are certain, as the world can just completely change around the plan. As ai replaces creativity and creative roles more and more, it just keeps getting less and less realistic that things will go well for me and the hundreds of thousands of young creatives like me.

I don't know a lot about labor unions yet and people seem to have polarized opinions about them, but I could see them being useful in this instance. In America employment is "at-will" meaning you can be fired at any point for no reason, but industries with labor unions create contracts with your employer called a "Collective Bargaining Agreement" or CBA that can make employment termination require due cause. In addition, labor unions can propose conditions that dictate exactly when and how companies can use AI to replace workers. Tech jobs aren't usually unionized but maybe this could be a good reason to start.

There is always a point to create. Art is more than just your abilities. Art is a means of connecting. You can build an audience off your work. The problem comes now in making it sustainable and financially beneficial which is becoming increasingly difficult.

It's sad how years of hardwork, passion and effort could all go down the drain in an instant. I'm currently 17, about to graduate in a couple months and pursue graphic design within college. My entire life i've always been passionate about art, and the idea of being able to make a living off of it was so intriguing to me as a kid..But with the rise of AI, any hope for success in the future is completely gone, i'm completely lost as to what i should do in life and i feel as if the one thing i was ever good at is completely useless. nothing went down the drain. he still got paid for all those years of work, he still has all the skills and templates he developed in that time, he still has the connections and references from his former coworkers. making money off of art was always a dream, and it has been risky since long before AI came along. it's also not true that any hope for success in the future is gone, in fact i'd argue the complete opposite that AI presents a huge opportunity for artists (and non-artists).

You might want to consider pursuing fine art with physical mediums (oil, acrylic, etc). I bet that kind of art will be more AI-resistant the same way a lot of custom/luxury goods succeed at selling hand-made clothes/furniture, even though factory-made products took over the mainstream market more than a century ago.

Again after 6 years, as a hiring manager for design, it sounds like you had a low skillset and your agency didnt provide a lot of value. Email templates, website layouts? People have CMS and more advanced options now. Those designs honestly don't mean anything when they still need to be coded or manually adjusted. Worked in the industry since 2014. Just letting you know we had more advanced deliverables with WordPress automation than you do in 2014. It wasn't AI that took your job. Just your low skillset. I wish more people knew the ins and outs of this industry as you compaoning about AI not even knowing how limited your skillset was is interesting to say the least.
Yeah, by his own admission he was doing 3 hours work a day (some days, to be fair he didnt say every day) after having created the templates. Creating those kind of basic website layout templates is not really hard, in fact you can buy awesome templates online for one-time payments. It sounds like they probably didn't need actually *need* a full-time designer, irrespective of the AI discussion. Even if they did, they could probably find someone who can do templates *and* fill in the other 4 hours of the day with upskilling and thus providing higher quality work for clients, or simply taking on more work.
You are like me in the future. I am also a "graphic designer", but only a beginner, while also having some small experience in game design, concept art, character concept and etc. This is really sad how AI is taking the future of artists and designers. I hope your job situation gets better man!
Historically, things like this have happened to lots of jobs. The invention of alarm clocks and electricity put streetlight lamp lighters and bell ringers ("knocker-ups") out of work in the mid-20th century. These people found jobs in other industries. I guess you'll have to do the same, unfortunately.
This is disgusting, I sympathize with AI doing work but the terrifying thing is that its completely unregulated unlike getting work done normally through employment
Brotha, I was working for another UA-camr (who I won’t name) making thumbnails consulting on editing etc. long story short, he started using AI for thumbnail designs I stopped getting calls. I am sorry you lost your job. There is a lot of doomerist attitude in the comments by people wanting to work in the creative sector so I feel compelled to point a few things out. First of all, you are correct: Not just in the UK, but anywhere in the world, *anything* you create while working on the clock for a company (possibly with hardware and software owned by the company) is the intellectual property of that company, by default. This applies to design, to code, to software, etc. This is very important for young creatives just entering the workforce to understand. If you work on your own private projects while on the clock, and you use company owned soft- or hardware to do this, and you intent to commercialize your creative work, you are vulnerable to your employer having a good argument why the work is actually their intellectual property. Most companies probably don't care, but it's a liability you have to be aware of. What most companies do care about though, is people not working while they are getting paid. This brings me to my next point. You describe how you rationalized your own creative work by templatizing it. You reduced the hours you spend doing creative work to a fraction of the time you were being paid for. As a consequence, clients that paid (amongst other things) for the services of a staff designer basically just got a filled in template that looks very similar to what other clients get. I don't think any of this is a problem, necessarily, and I don't think it's reasonable for clients to expect uniquely creative work from an automation marketing agency. But your lack of transparency is a problem, and it might have contributed to you being let go. The big, obvious issue here is simply that you were paid for time you didn't work, and not just one day per week, but for a long duration of time. AI is the smallest factor here. You've not had anything to do at that company for a long time. This isn't a case of a diligent, highly creative and caring designer being unfairly let go from one day to another because of AI. To me the story sounds more like this, and I think with everything you said you would probably agree: A marketing agency that never really put a lot of value into design (as demonstrated by you being the only designer on staff) realized that it doesn't make any difference if you are there or not, because you were largely not working for the majority of the time you were paid, and they let you go. The upside of this story is that you can now finally focus on doing creative work, for yourself. Genuinely, best of luck with your game, dude. I think this is far more interesting than you having to pretend to spend 8 hours every day building emails and websites.
I actually wanted to become a doctor really badly, but then decided to pursue a career in retail management and later aim to own my own companies instead, because these are likely the most secure and well-paying jobs I can get in my country right now. That is because AI is going to take over the medical field. It's not happening yet, but I can envision it; and if I can envision it, it will most likely happen very soon. I designed an electromagnetized train system when I was 15 years old; I didn't think anyone would ever come up with that anytime soon. Three years later, a Japanese engineer built and marketed it. Similarly, I envision an AI substitute for doctors that is incredibly cheap and has a high probability of accurate diagnosis, because AI can become much better at that than any human could ever be. With enough lobbying, it would earn a license to diagnose and write prescriptions. Then all they would need to do is market it so that people don't have to leave their homes to get a prescription or to be written off sick for their employer. All doctors could lose their hard-earned jobs within a year or two.
No it's not different in the US. The people talking about law suits don't know the law it's just outrage and think something should be illegal but it's not. Also I don't really see it becoming illegal because this is not actually anything new. Just replace AI with Intern and it's the same thing. Company had a curtain brand image or style they liked so new hires get shown the companies past workers made by previous employees and are told to make something similar. The AI is basically just a talent less hack intern that can only copy previous works and doesn't make original stuff. AI copying existing designs to generate content is not the real issue. The real issue is the loss of jobs. People who don't know jack use phrases like "Well just learn to code" or other BS often try and compare the automation brought by AI as to similar to the automation brought by the industrial revolution by saying there will be "new jobs" created but this is more BS. See during the industrial revolution those machines that automated things like farm work needed to be made, so instead of working the fields those farmers moved to factories producing machines that would work the fields. So you still needed a physical product to benefit from automation which created a new type of job that kept pace for employment. However now we have automation that once made only takes a small number of programmers to improve and maintain upon while replacing potentially hundreds of thousands of jobs if not more. The computers needed were already being used by those employees but now simply have self running software so there is no increase in demand for hardware manufacturing jobs. And the developers of these automation tools already have their employee base, while they might see competition in the market with other similar companies it's not gonna come close to offsetting the jobs lost. This is the problem with the increasingly automated society and the flaw in our economic system which is based on the premise that companies need labor to produce their goods, thus they pay employees, employees need money to purchase the goods to survive so they work for these companies. Company then sell those goods to earn money so they can then pay their employees. Problem is if people don't have income they can't buy the companies goods, if the company can't sell enough to pay their existing employees and keep shareholders happy they have to downsize meaning less consumers in the market leading to less sales in a huge downward spiral. This is basically what happen during the great depression as the stock market collapse made it so many companies no longer had money to buy materials they needed to produce things as well as not enough to pay employees so they had mass layoffs. Those now unemployed people no longer could afford to buy things which hurt the sales of other companies who also had to then cut back in a huge self reinforcing spiral. While it's often stated the over arching government programs helped rebound the economy there has been more indepth research into it and it seems many of those programs actually prolonged the depression as economic indicators showed things recovering right before a new program was enacted and things declined again.
Please let us know if you do get a job, this is terrifying, I've been a graphic designer for 12/13 years and I am hoping that I don't get let go due to AI. Inhouse is boring but its safe.
Regarding live commentary videos, if done right it can be really cool to watch and create a mini community that always follows you, fatmagic is a good example of this, he is good at the game he plays, he has some fun stories from his life to tell, and every now and then someone gets mad at him in the game and it makes the video super funny, with him trying to tell the story while someone rages at him
Because something is "legal" doesn't make it ethical. They completely abused you. You can be assured that nobody took a salary cut and the heads of your company will likely get a pay raise.
it's amazing how level-headed you are compared to the comments, even though you're the one who was actually negatively impacted. I appreciate your humble and realistic perspective. also the chill gameplay commentaries remind me of the old youtube, and that's cool.
For what it's worth - shitty situation but I wouldn't recommend games either. I work in that field and it's ripping through art teams just the same as most other creative industries.
do reaction video study what is happening in the graphic art industry! update and followup . all about ai taking over the job is the best content right now
you are not using the full jack of all trades quote it has a second part to it (even though no one really uses it for some reason) the quote goes “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
As a freelance illustrator myself, I really hope this doesn't discourage people from chasing jobs in creative industries. There are still companies that only work with actual artists and don't work with AI partially because of the copyright legislation. It's all about finding your niche and creating a name for yourself, people will come because they want to work with you specifically. That being said I know it's really scary. It's feast or famine as a freelancer and some people don't have the luxury to deal with that because they have a family to support or a mortgage. I just want to put out a positive message that it is possible. Don't lose hope people!
I've been really discouraged by what's happening recently.Idk whether to pursue my dreams because I have a talent for art and design.Should I just look at a different field...😢
@@ItsalGuud I believe that there is enough work for everyone who wants to be in the creative industry, even with AI. It's just a matter of sticking with it and keep trying. It might take a few years before getting you name out there a little but if you keep at it, train your skills, people won't be able to ignore your work. Sometimes we just need to be told that it's okay of following our dreams. (I've actually written a blog post about this) I never went to school for illustration or animation. Just learned by myself while I was working a shitty retail job. I'm now in my 3rd year of self employment and working in the animation industry, while also selling my own prints etc online. If I believed my surroundings I would have never gotten this far. So if you really really want it, you can get it. Just takes a lot of hard work and determination.
So basically nothing is being stolen based on the laws you knew that you were following, so all your fans are implying your work was stolen but it wasn't yours in the first place once you decided to work for that company and make that stuff for them. It's a good thing your fans aren't your voice because I wouldn't be surprised if this came close to defamation of character. Like all I see in the comments is fear about this technology. But it's just doing what we've been trying to do, but better. It is like how clasically painters cry about digital art, how some photographers cry about image editing, how local business cry about online retailers. AI is the future, we can cry about it or get with it.
Have you considered writing into the media? Probably the BBC or the Guardian would be best, and it would be a good way to tell people that “hey, this could happen to you too” and that might make some progress
Eventually, once all the graphic designers are are re-trained, there WILL be value in content made by humans again. I also imagine that once this turnover happens these AI companies will jack up the prices so high it will be cheaper to hire someone again... Im really sorry this has happened to you. As a photographer that owns his own business, this is my nightmare.
As a fellow carbon-based biped mammal, I think your heart and mind are in the right place. The past is behind us, I applaud your resolve to move forward. As a Tech PM, focusing on the game you are creating should be the target. Finishing/publishing something is always better than nothing. You also gained one more sub 😊
Wow. The commentators neither understand AI, nor know who owns creative property created under an employment contract. But they still feel the need to shout out their worthless opinions
It still might be worth consulting a workers right lawyer. Obvs I'm not sure how the law is where you are at but many if not most workers rights lawyers, in the US, work on contingency, meaning they don't charge up front. This might be very similar where you are at. If you signed a bunch of stuff or had some exit interview upon being let go its unlikely you could get anything out of it but there is a hgh chance it won't cost you anything to consult a lawyer. Either way best of luck.
as someone getting into the graphics design industry in the very near future, the fact that this is the first time im hearing about this actually happening shows that people really just dont talk about how quickly AI generated content develops and evolves. Knowing that this probably has happened to other people as well is even less fortunate, but thank you for sharing this and raising awareness about the fact that AI is GENUINELY taking peoples jobs away! hope you can find a good job soon
We're in an awkward place right now with the tech. Ideally it would be at a level where it would take EVERYONE'S job and then governments would just tax companies an AI tax to pay everyone a Universal Basic Income
8:00 I think getting into live commentary with gameplay in the background is a good idea tbh, most of the commentary/gameplay content I've seen has done pretty well since it's so niche (depending on the topic maybe). I'd definitely be interested in that from you!
Get revenge. Campaign to make AI “art” illegal. These brozos need to pay, and when they do, there will be a day of reckoning for the lazy hacks who think they’re better than hard workers because they take shortcuts and the money-grubbing executives who put profit before people and see art as a product.
Recently you are blowing up because of this. I am just gonna put this out there. You should streaming and having fun entertaining. up to you buy you are in a rare situation with a big opportunity. you clearly are good enough at halo to be entertaining too
I know you're looking for a steady income but maybe a future idea is to create a templating web service to produce these things that you have so much experience doing. Your previous company will lose relevance by mining a static repo of old templates eventually. You were the one creating value and have the skills and experience to continue to create value. After the AI sugar rush ends, and their AI templating machine creates generic, outdated shite, eventually these hack managers will realise that their one single value to the company is managing high value employees...
learn typescript + java and/or C# + mysql or postgre learn how to make a frontend web application, connect it to the java/C# backend, learn about migrations and managing the sql database (basic queries and using the postgre UI for instance)
This situation is coming for EVERYONE who works while sitting down. When they have banked the money from these kinds of layoffs, they'll take the money and invest in robots so as to get rid of the rest.
The copyright is similar here in the United States, at least in my case. I am not a graphics designer or artist, I am an engineer, but my company has a clause in my contract that any inventions/designs/etc. I make on the job are legally their copyrights and all of them are considered "Works for hire"
Hi I'm a 3d art student from UK your story really sucks man and it's horrible what's going on with ai, I love how you approach this hard time in life so positive and I wish the best keep going!
Look, if we could get a Universal Basic Income, I would be less pissed off about this whole A.I. situation, but this new tech is literally making rich people richer and screwing people who have spent YEARS learning their craft. I started learning music production in 2019 and was only just getting to a point where I wanted to start a mixing and mastering business only for AI to explode. Now theres AI music, which within the next 2 years will be practically indistinguishable from a human-made product. Artists were already undervalued and now even more so because a computer can spit out something "good enough" in a fraction of the time. We either need a UBI to help people displaced from jobs or put a stop to AI until we can regulate it and neither seem to be happening. THATS why this is so absolutely frustrating.
What ai can automate graphic design? This is terrifying my wife is a graphic designer. Do you know the name of the ai they are using? I'm super stressed right now lol. 😳 Help
I am currently studying Graphic Design at a college in America. This story obviously worries me. I still would theoretically have time to switch majors if I really needed to, but I always believed that there would still be a lot of graphic designers needed (Kinda like how there are website builders available, but we still need humans to make websites). Do you think Graphic Design is still a good option to study and pursue a career in?
AI development causing people to lose jobs is not collateral damage, it's the end goal. Graphic designers are the first ones on the chopping block during the coming paradigm shift and the system is completely unprepared. As more jobs will become redundant, we will be able to deal with this more efficiently.
You should be a gaming channel, like talking about game news, new games, horrors, commentary, playing , about waht u want to talk about because u have the voice for it, Like a channel with a passion for everything gaming
I dont really understand the part about taking away jobs? dont people want that to happen? if 50% of people get replaced by ai and loose their job, what do you think is going to happen. do you think those 50% will just have to live without money and live homeless? or do you think society and its people wil adapt so that those 50% can live regardless? "If everyone loses their job, no one loses their job". this doesnt even have anything to do with techbroism or whatever. its just basic capitalism. if we live in a capitalist society where a lot of people are not able to provide resources, those resources will be provided to those people in one way or another if that chunck of people makes up a decent amount of the society that they live in. especially in european places and northern places, this concept has already existed for a long time and will only continue to grow. when people realize that their job will be impacted just like any other, no one will vote or be for policies which destroys a large chunck of society. its not that if everyone cant work, everyone wont work. its the fact that if everyone cant work, no one will need to work, because otherwise they would do so already. I think the first people to get their jobs taken (like tech people) are the ones to suffer most. as this grows into other fields (which will happen), society WILL adapt. i havent heard anyone make any compelling argument as to why things would turn out different.
did you see the humanoid robots that came out this week? it costs 16k and soon an 8k version will come out. i'm sure every grocery store will invest in a 16k robo worker than a human that even wants salary. See the problem? 16k for a 5-10 years robot or 50k per year for an employee. i think thats a closed case. In 2016 the company i worked in invested 20m in a new storage which normally would had 30 employees but it was fully automated. And i'm in switzerland. So i don't think we are too far away from a basic income. because thats IT, there is no sh*t to invent no more. everyone gonna be a youtuber or rapper or onlyfans professional. I mean we would have time for family, hobbies, relationships, cooking, kids, god or even a profitable business etc. but lets be real, who wants that? I'd rather work 42 hours for a slave wage and be addicted to my goal and ONLY goal. Money!
QA and DEV is also not a great career path. Neither is teaching. All already affected by AI. No immediate job losses but you can see the how much AI is being implemented into our workflows. We're actually currently developing solutions using AI that will replace us. Sad but true, we have to cos we're working by contract too.
Graphic designer and illustrator here (10+ years), I feel for you brother... if I was in your shoes I would maybe go into video editing, learn after effects (learning curve isn't that bad) I am lucky as I am primarily a vector illustrator (my true passion), and GD second video editor 3rd and any other graphic related thing, I am kinda a generalist. Learn multiple skills, maybe even go for "if you can't beat them, join them" approach, somehow merge design and AI in a job, AI engineer or whatever the term is ... in my opinion this AI fad will pass, I am kinda hopeful that people would pay extra to work with a human rather than machine... but how long that will take I cannot say
I'm not in the field, so take everything I'm saying with a grain of salt, but I honestly wouldn't feel secure in any tech job atm. The way AI is going, just about every artistic/software job is at risk and I doubt any will be available within 5-10 years. Even programmers for gaming will most likely be replaced soon. For now, the jobs that aren't at risk from AI are hard labor jobs.
So we have ai to take over thousands of jobd, at what point does ai take over enough jobs, so that we won't have to work for our food and shelter and commodities and could just enjoy ourselves without the anger of our fellow citizens, to our unemployed situation. At what point does ot become ok for humans to stop working and get free stuff. 100% AI 90% AI 80% AI Jobs need to be done that I get. Working at agriculture waking up at 5 am every day, that needs to be done. When AI overrides it all, can we somehow not work?
ok first, lets stop glamourizing technology because it's gonna fuck everything, imagine police robots and 95% of humanity unemployed second, let me criticize you, it doesn't matter how much you earn, it matters how much you save
Leverage AI to establish your own AI Marketing Agency. AI can handle design, copywriting, and lead generation, as well as manage email and print marketing materials. As many traditional marketing agencies are likely to be replaced by websites, it's crucial to act swiftly and secure your position in this evolving landscape. You'll need a sales professional ready to take big risks, recognizing that their role will become redundant. Additionally, you will require a programmer with expertise in AI to support your operations. You'll need a minimum of three.
Dude im telling you marketing companies (and social media companies aswell) are crying for talented designers like yourself. Your web design experience is highly transferable to our field and you'll probably be paid more aswell. I know this because I work in the industry, so don't worry because for every company (or in this case an entire industry) that doesn't value your skills there are always others that do. Don't even think about working retail when you got 10 years experience in the industry lol. Edit: And it's highly unlikey the marketing industry will be taken over by AI anytime soon, innovation moves at a snails pace in our industry.
I think you are giving them too much goodwill. Legality doesn't really matter here since the laws hasn't really been able to keep up with the tech. You were used, replicated, and now they can sell a version of you who you can never compete with. Not for something that is of the benefit of the masses like with automation during the industrial revolution, but so they can stuff their pockets and increase margins. We are already in an ecomonic crisis, people can't afford to live or even house themselves and now the rich and wealthy are replacing us with machines so they can become even richer. This is going to hit a breaking point and when it does: "When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich".
Kudos for not being one of those people that just play the victim card all the way, or cry about the _"corporate-greed"_ boogeyman. Don't worry too much about other things being automated, as most things simply cannot be automated. Web design is a case where there are clear patterns that can obviously be automated, so naturally it would end up being so the quickest. (You were doing it already with your templates. I wonder if you told that to your boss, if it would've made a difference. From his perspective, you still took many hours to do something that could be made quicker...) And as far as markets in general go, contrary to popular belief, automation always creates more jobs than it takes, so don't worry about that either. Machines and AI are only tools, and can't work on their own. They always have to be supervised or wielded by some kind of workers on a wage. And they can't manufacture themselves or gather resources themselves, can't distribute themselves, can't sell themselves, can't clean the toilets or do paperwork on their factories, warehouses, offices, etc, etc. Every piece of automation requires a rise in workers on the markets.
In the USA, AI-generated content can't be copyrighted. There is nothing stopping people from stealing any template generated by their AI.
I hope to god it stays that way
AI steals real people's work to make their templates after, this means you can just legally steal people's work via AI. Banger.
It can be if changes are made to the generated image. AI content is under public domain so its possible to get a copywrite if you modify it enough.
Except the simple loop is moving something by 3 pixels by hand, and then it's human made and assisted by AI

@@Daredayo713 what if people were committed to those jobs that were taken away?
@@tristanrast246 yeyeah i agree with that. If it comes to art for example i even think that with ai growth it’s worth will go up.

People don't understand how large companies abuse the market economy system simply because of their monetary advantage.

I wish legislation would require royalties being payed to the original artist when art is being used by generative AI, even when the company owns the graphics since the original contract was made before AI was wildly available.

@@Indrid__Cold Where? What national or federal jurisdictions has those kinds of draconian rules, and in practice can anyone prove inspiration?
I'm still in college, going into special education, and I'm shitting my pants at the future. I want to curl up into a ball...
😂 it's over for us hahaha
Just do your research and make sure you can argue exactly why you're needed. Or just get chatGPT to make your case for you. It's creatives that are fucked.
Welp as a...creative, guess I'll work in the mines 🥲
@@discontinuityI never thought about but you might be right. Going onto Google Images 6 months ago, you barely got any AI generated content, now there are already stagnant, repetitive results. Personally, I don't think AI should've ever gone past Joe Biden talking about Bhutanese weed.
Making companies disclose won't change anything if every company starts using ai, it will just normalise it further
I'm confident people will still steer away from Ai generated games and movies. They lack soul and originality.
No, it's not soulless - just a stereotype to bash AI without really understanding the subject. I've had great art pieces with Midjourney, very impressive and emotional. It gave me an opportunity to be an artist and illustrate my fiction, which I could never have done otherwise.
Good news then, your job will be safe for now
3 years experience that is self taught is better than you think. It's quite valued in the industry, especially if you have a project you have been working on to show them, even if it isn't finished. It would deffos be an entry level position tho

It's scary that AI can now pause, take breathes and all the things a human can do.
@@ablationer Because Artists demanded productions clearly state if their product uses AI.
So please be mindful of that fact and treat it as it is (a business)
Also your analogy makes no sense, that's like saying any photographer can take a photo, any editor can edit, any animator can animate. Everyone is different and unique.
Also, can you relax on being so condescending? You being okay with AI, is yet another reason your job will also be taken in the future.

Old AI like the first 3 versions of MidJourney or Leonardo was shit, but AI advances really fast.
Because it's the type of art that ai can do well with templates
Historically, things like this have happened to lots of jobs. The invention of alarm clocks and electricity put streetlight lamp lighters and bell ringers ("knocker-ups") out of work in the mid-20th century. These people found jobs in other industries.

Don't lose hope and don't assume that being self taught is bad. I am a self taught 3D artist and this is how I got into the industry.
Pretty sure it's the same in most countries, including the US. Anything you create under the direct employ of a company belongs to the company.

After the AI sugar rush ends, and their AI templating machine creates generic, outdated shite, eventually these hack managers will realise that their one single value to the company is managing high value employees...
learn typescript + java and/or C# + mysql or postgre
learn how to make a frontend web application, connect it to the java/C# backend, learn about migrations and managing the sql database (basic queries and using the postgre UI for instance)
Why? What's your reason for this? I'm really interested in knowing
6:14 "a jack of all trades is a master of none"
Don't forget.
"...but oftentimes better than a master of one." - William Shakespeare
u should start a ko-fi
I don't think I have an audience big enough to do something like that at this stage
@@Nadestraight It's free so there's nothing to lose, you might try as well
AI development causing people to lose jobs is not collateral damage, it's the end goal.
100% AI
90% AI
80% AI
Jobs need to be done that I get.
Working at agriculture waking up at 5 am every day, that needs to be done.
When AI overrides it all, can we somehow not work?
ok first, lets stop glamourizing technology because it's gonna fuck everything, imagine police robots and 95% of humanity unemployed
second, let me criticize you, it doesn't matter how much you earn, it matters how much you save
Edit: And it's highly unlikey the marketing industry will be taken over by AI anytime soon, innovation moves at a snails pace in our industry.
this man just sounds so honest and genuine it really makes me feel sorry for him. best wishes from me!
From his perspective, you still took many hours to do something that could be made quicker...)
And as far as markets in general go, contrary to popular belief, automation always creates more jobs than it takes, so don't worry about that either.
