It's really depressing, to say the least, to keep hearing just how horrific things will continue to be and that the majority of people won't make it. Even peppers, who don't have a homestead, in the country, are not given much hope of surviving, since we have issues that homesteaders don't face. We don't have our own wells, have animals and chickens, have unstable, unpredictable neighbors and have limited amount of places to keep food. We don't have more than one place to store food and supplies and have no place to hide things, from nosey neighbors.. Plus the harsh weather will prevent us from putting things outside. We can't keep large amounts of fuel for an EMP and even water supplies are limited . Every day, I hear more things about the coming war with China and Russia and our domestic enemies.Since our government has not provided any shelter for the citizens for a nuclear exchange, that is just another negative reason for people to lose hope for what's coming. It's no wonder why people don't bother preparing. All we hear is bad news and worse news every day. If I didn't have the Lord in my life, there wouldn't be much reason to keep going, even though i have prepared the best i am abke. It is sickening to hear the gloom and doom continuously!
The terrible part of all this is..the line of bull we have all been fed about how our government is there to help,support and encourage. All you have to do is be a responsible citizen. I am angry as dwell as saddened you and so many others are in the same situation. When the chips are down you are thrown to the wolves. I apologize,I am not helping by my venting. Do you have anyone at all in the country and outside the cities that can be a lifeline for you?
Well to be honest you should be focusing on the Lord and Gods Word and not doom and gloom on YT.
Im not saying to bury your head in the sand, but you shouldn't be listening to this sort of content continuously.
Im not sure if Goshen is a Christian, but this sort of thing paints EVERYTHING in a negative light. Bear in mind, many preppers constantly talk about things that will hapoen, and many times these things never come to pass.
I say its best to try and do what you can, but rely on the Lord to be your full sustainer, because no man can EVER be fully prepared.
Homesteads will likely lose all they own, either by confiscation by the gov or by large groups of hostile attackers. So no, they are not better off, they are prime targets. How are they going to pay their taxes on their land when the gov no longer accepts cash?

I've been around a lot of people in life and I've noticed no matter who I am working with often A Simple Plan like let's all meet at this location if there's an emergency gets all messed up. Ive accepted this and I just tell them if you don't meet their at a certain time we leave without you... I have accepted that they might have to just stay behind. I only put so much energy into warning people. I feel bad and guilty but I have to move on
I've told all the people around me to always have enough gas to get to that location at any given time. But I still get emergency calls from them sometimes saying that they don't have gas to get home

@@sojourn1544 I figure, based on generations of relatives that survived Napoleon, Lenin, the Irish Famine, the Great Depression, etc, that our family with our history known to us, has the endurance, knowledge & guts to survive most things, including earthquakes, tornadoes, floods or wildfires!! As Ryan Hall Y'all of the weather channel keeps saying, "be Prepared, not scared!!"
To be honest shtf will be no big deal to me. I have no retirement, never had nice things, never had anything other than odd jobs so never had money. I've always survived, never thrived. SHTF would force me to stop all the bs odd jobs for a few bucks here and there. Being self employed is basically no different than unemployed. I paint cars and have not seen 1 payday in 2 years and 3 months so money means absolutely nothing to me.

I can do all my own work so nothing to hire out, that probably comes from having no money. After it all goes South money will be worthless anyway, I'll have no adjustment there. Defending is the only issue I'll have, I'm not a violent person. Wishing everybody the best whatever we are faced with.
The best prepping advice I ever got since starting to prep in the mid 80s . Do not keep all your preps in one place .

I made my own solar oven with aluminum foil and cardboard. Last summer I cooked some food with it. Got up to 180 degrees in 30 minutes.
Be ready for loss of: 1) Possessions - food & water; 2) Employment; 3) Education; 4) Money - savings ok but paper $ gone, gold & silver good, ammo good; 5) Property (homes w/mortgage); Communications (cell & satellite) - Ham radios & American Reserve crank radios good); Electronic Communications (gone); Electronic Storage (iCloud gone - save stuff to ext-drives now); Retirement (plans-similar to 401Ks, etc.); Government (gone)!!! A little over a decade ago my wife and I backpacked for a year. We had nice gear, and then got robbed (non violent) in Zimbabwe. We lost everything except the clothes on our backs, our passports and cash (concealed on us). It was demoralizing. But we persevered and traveled 5 for months, instead using gear from second hand stores in Harare. My point is you're right to prepare to lose all your possessions!

A lot of people are making a lot of money right now by keeping the public and their followers in a constant state of fear and hopelessness.

@@user-sc3nq8sp7dI'm thinking that in the case of widespread grid down from an EMP, local governments would be unlikely to take property. It would disrupt too many people's lives, their would be too few people to buy the properties, the govt would have a difficult time even processing payments (lack of infrastructure or people) and properties taken would likely degrade very quickly due to lack of people to maintain them. Some of the EOs allowing the federal executive branch to command and control all resources and people would come into play as well. To what end who knows.

How do you camp without food?
In the first 3 weeks there will be a large die off due to violence, lack of water and clean water for drinking, lack of food will be within 7 weeks, and lack of medication/medical help. As much as 25% within 2 mos. The math would be 25%X350,000,000=87,500,000 dead at 2mos. If summer lack of water will kill and winter lack of heat.
I GREATLY appreciate your dynamic vision of possible futures. Post-SHTF, the only thing that won't change is the laws of nature. Any realistic vision of a post-SHTF future will have to take account of cascading failures of all manmade production/supply systems, communications, transportation, money & banking, etc., etc., etc.
Bartering is a great topic and one to teach and practice. I learned a bit about bartering (like my Uncle Jonathan I was pretty slow) while in Korea and China. The Marine recommends a good case to put your barterable items in. He has some Pelican Cases (I think he had one from service and they are also available used). I have picked up some other cases myself. Apache is an ok brand that is much less expensive but not as sturdy. I have picked up some texts on the art to place in The Science Ranch Library (that's right, real books about real stuff!). Clair A Schwan, Alter Prepper, has a book out on it as do others.
Better be ready to be able to dispatch many of your neighbors and even friends and family when shit falls apart.
Bartering ammo I don't thinknis a good idea unless you know them real well. Even then I would be careful.

you are not alone. people say that thinking it helps. we all face what we experence in our own lives. no money, poor health, bad familys, job layoffs, fires, a lot of tornados now for people loseing their homes (and preps), floods in texas with home loss, homelessness, evictions, unexpected expences, the list goes on. that is why i say you are not alone. some will say the world could end and they would not know it. when the depression was going on there were poor who did not even know it was going on without being told, it made no difference of and to their lives. are there any good news for us. i wake up being 72 that is a good thing so there is my first good news. you say cancer. if you are in remission live each day as you can. if you are going through it in a bad way, wake up count if you can funtion is good news. if you can survive each day (without preps) that is good. take it a day at a time. if you can walk or get a ride once a week/month go to a food back if you can not walk or get about. ask someone to pick up stuff for you. example: even if you had a years supply of stuff, 2 years worth. the depression went on for 10 years. unless you have 3 or 4 rooms of stuff of preps you will hit nothing in a time. so preps will be good but it to will be gone. so again. you are not alone. think. how would you survive? if not then you go until you can't, once you except that then less worry. (nothing means nothing to lose, you are there already) now think what to do just to live a day at a time. homeless people sometimes goes days without food, some think what can they do. yes cancer sucks so if you look at it and face it where you are with it can something be done? food banks, i say this because it gets you thinking and it's a start. never give up. if you must then go from there and see what can be done to help you. (ask a church for advise) maybe not food but may lead you to something else. ask homeless people, yes homeless people. if anybody knows what to do or where is help they would be the ones. even if they say it's hopeless you now know what to do from there. my rant is over, sorry. i'm in your boat only with a quod by pass and not in the best of shape. i turn in bottles (michigan here) just to get extra money for food. god speed my friend. (oh and i too am on s.s.) they low end of payments.
One thing you overlooked, an education, of whatever type, can *NEVER* be taken from you. Same thing with basic skills and knowledge. And faith.
The FDIC wouldn't have a problem in a collapse since they can use printed into existence dollars. Nevermind that the cap of $250k won't buy you a loaf of bread by that time.
The last thing that you should have mentioned is that civility will likely disappear once the true scope of the disaster becomes more apparent. Many will want to help their fellow human beings but many will not.
Prepared to be homeless, (tent with sleeping bags)
No money, (gold and silver, bartering items, cigarettes, booze)
No cell phone, (HAM radio, walkie talkies)
No power, (batteries and solar generators)
No medicine, (plants, Jase kit, Tylenol, alcohol)
No food, (canned goods, learn to fish and forage)
No clean water, (Berky Filters/Life Straws)
No gas/electric stoves, (Matches, lighters, ferro rods)
No light, (Flashlights, lanterns, glo sticks, etc.)
and so much more..tools, clothing, knives, cast iron skillets and eating utensils..really, the list is endless, but if you have these things, you'll stand a better chance of surviving.
I would add seeds to the list.

FDIC is never had the assets all our lives to handle more than one or two minor bank failures. Their resources are stressed now due to the California silicon Bank thing. They will not pay much and it will take a long long time. Maybe years and years

I hit my young boomer sister up 4 months ago to see if she wanted to rent her slightly older single brother a room ? She lives on the east coast of Va. with her husband & one college grad. son. All 3 are c19 survivors with my brother in law being barely. It about took him out. Anyway, my sister wouldn't & hasn't answered me since I've asked the question. And I'm not asking again. We're 2 different people anyway & I'll take my chances in the mid-west.

We need to be mindful that we are being prepared mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically. We do not know where the Lord is going to have us when things go really bad. Because we understand what is ahead of us…we are ahead of millions. One of my favorite movies that really hits home about we just never know where we will be when chaos begins. Is the movie 2012. With John Cusack. He is a driver for a rich Russian and the lord has him in the right places to save his family. The Lord Jehovah has put me so many different situations that I would never think of ….ended up for my good. So praying, asking, talking to God to do his biding helps a whole bunch. But do what you can do in being as prepared as you can …make an effort and let God take care of the rest.
So how long you think before crap goes haywire? Most importantly You 🙏 keep your faith

If communication goes down, how is the bank gonna tell you to pay off your mortgage, they want their money? What about snail mail? hehe
Someone recently asked what we can expect from USPS if the grid goes down. A USPS employee responded - "nothing!" All mail sorting and handling equipment requires electricity, and the USPS has no back-up power systems in place. If there's an EMP, USPS probably has no replacements for the electronics that would be destroyed.

When does the government have our best interests?
If a scenario like you are describing happens (I am not disagreeing that it very well might) who is going to buy all the properties/homes that the banks will repo? If they call the note and end up with the property back. How does that help the bank? I suppose a argument could be made for large entities like the government, blackrock etc wanting productive agriculture ground, timberland, etc. But what good are huge numbers of vacant residential properties? Which entities would benefit from that?
That was exactly my thought. They could tell us to get out but the cops are going to be busy with much more than moving us out of the house when 50 more are empty and have squatters. I think the banks would rather get our mortgage payment regularly than another empty house they have to pay taxes on.

So lets say the gold price goes to $800,000.00 an ounce and silver goes to $70,000.00 an ounce and your bank wants payment of the $400,000.00 balance NOW, you simply give them 1/2 ounce of gold or 6 ounces of silver.
This ONLY works with LOCKED in, NOT variable, contracts.
And you can buy farms, houses, vehicles, plazas...as long as those are LOCKED in prices because variable rates would be hard to catch up with.

It is NOT true that a lender can "call in" your mortgage loan any time. If you have a fixed rate loan, are on time with your payments and have no HELOC then the terms of your mortgage agreement apply. The lender cannot simply demand payment 20+ years ahead of schedule without justification.

No it is possible. The legal docs do give that power. But in SHFT possession is 9/10ths of the law. We will have to form communities to survive.
Seriously a lot of things ought not be bc of our “laws” and so forth, but the good ol’ government ALWAYS find ways to implement whatever it is that’s on their agenda.

Teachers are quitting in droves. So many vacancies in some areas that anyone can sign up and teach as a long term substitute. With the population at 1.7, we are not at replacement levels. So yes schools will be closing.
I bought milwaukee lights and batteries. I 8:37 f the lights go out I have that covered with solar chargers. They run my freezers and refrigerator too.
Keep that refrigerator going to keep your Milwaukee lights cold.

There are things you can do to increase your odds but there are never any guarantees.
It's impossible to know exactly how bad or how good it will be. Prepare the best you can and be in a group/team.
Had family in Eastern Europe during WW 2 when they finally made it to the U S they had the clothes on there back and there lives

And when they got here they were responsible for them and had to provide him with a job on the farm, they had two small children and he had a college degree witch no one would recognize , so he went back to college , and did very well in business and made a good life for himself, and his family , god bless America❤️

Umm, the fire department will be busy trying to protect their family's just like all of us including all law enforcement. We won't be getting any help from these agencies in a true SHTF scenario and therefore the reason why we prep the best we can.

I understand the point of view, but I feel like it will be somewhere in between. Electricity will be around. Business will survive. It won't be the apocalypse. Deep depression probably. I don't think we'll be run out of our homes or be left with only backpacks. Did that happen in Russia when the Soviet Union fell - no. They have gorgeous cities. I don't think we'll have martial law. I think crime goes up. Quality of life goes down for a bit, but not Mad Max. We have to go down, but the US rebuilds like many societies have.
