I really like how this top turned out. And I like the middle "oops" seam in front--It gives the blouse structure and definition! The embroidery turned out so pretty. Well done!!!
I subscribed when you admitted you messed up and continued to fix it instead of edit it out and pretend you wanted it like that all along. That's what I want to see in a crafter. Well done.
Hi, Siobhán here 👋 I am most definitely a real person and not AI 😂 Trust me, AI is nowhere near capable of producing this kind of content (I would know, I work in the film industry). The glitches are because my computer is ancient and on its’ last legs, and Premiere occasionally corrupts the footage when I export it 🤷🏻♀️
The errors are honestly SO refreshing to see. Sewing is hard, and it’s so intimidating seeing other UA-camrs make perfect garments when I’m over here cutting my front pieces in half by accident or failing to match patterns. And her finished project is fantastic anyways.
I really appreciate how much time you take to describe the end product and what you liked/disliked. Some videos I watch don’t show the final product very much and I get sad 😭😂 so this is great!! Thanks!
The patchwork just adds some interesting seam lines, I would have been tempted to add top stitching and make it a feature. I love how the top came out. The hand embroidered spots add a couture touch as hand work always does.
I added top stitching on another flip I did a while ago and loved the way it came out! I agree it's an interesting detail that flaunts the fact that it's up-cycled, which is cool. And yes - love couture details, especially if they can't be made by a machine!
Awesome top! Impressive design and workmanship and love that you made the best of your mistakes and, in my opinion, made the top way more interesting than if all had gone perfectly. 🤗👍
You did a great job! You reminded me of myself when I am doing a new project. “Oh no! I can’t believe I did that!” But like you, I’m always happy when the project is finally finished. I love your embroidery and may try something like it myself. I tend to like a monochromatic look, which is not easy to put together. This idea of using various shades of your of your base fabric to create your design was enlightening. I’m probably 50 years older than you are, so it makes me happy to see and learn from you and how you worked your way through your project. Again, great job!
I saw the center front seam in the intro, and assumed it was a design feature. I am really inspired by both the seaming and embroidery. Though I know embroidery always takes so much longer than I want it to! I have a similar thrifted shirt that I’ve been waiting for some design inspiration for. I think this is it! The seaming on this also reminds me of a recent linen thrift find of mine, which I’ve been enjoying as-is. It has center front and back seams, which at first I found a bit odd, but I think are a subtle and unique design feature, and the look has grown on me!
I love it when youtube recommends me new channels that are actually about stuff that I like! The shirt came out gorgeous. And you inspired me to look into drafting my own pattern block, so I will be trying that out soon. Also, beautiful video quality. All around just beautiful experience that I just had with your first 3 videos, thank you! 🎉❤
The embroidery really added a nice flair to this simple blouse!!Nothing beats an honest presentation because we all screw up at some point & then we need to figure out what to do to fix it?! Your solutions were great!!
You are adorable! ❤ This was certainly a challenge, but you worked through the mistakes beautifully, and walked me through the steps in a way that’s relatable. Thank you, and waiting eagerly for the next ‘flip’
The top is really pretty - you really can't see the side patch and in the preview I assumed the front seam was a style choice - and I appreciated that you showed a lot of your changes during the process which gave me some useful tips. I've been hesitant to add embroidery to my pieces because I feel I'm not good at drawing big designs but this kind of embroidery feels doable for my skill set and you've inspired me to give it a try.
I am so glad you have a channel, and I’m so glad I found it🥰 This project is right up my alley. I love drafting my own clothes and putting my spin on things. Also, I made a project bag some time ago with purple linen, and I embroidered it with several shades of purple, so there’s that. You will have a shirt twin very soon, I predict! Keep up the excellent content
I have been Thrifting for a high quality fabrics for quite some time and he sometimes even find fun things like cotton velvet etc. Thank you so much for what you’re doing here I think it’s right on. It’s beautiful and fun.
I've been sewing since I was 9 years old, with life getting in the way at times. I've never really got a pattern block that suits me, but your young, fresh, inspiring attitude has definitely made me decide to work it out. It's my time now. I have a lovely new sewing machine and a great stash. I also love how you showed your oops, I often feel as I'm in my 60's now that I have forgotten more than I ever knew 😊 and make mistakes all the time. Thank You Leonie
The first step to being really good at something...is to be really bad at something! Best of luck with drafting a pattern block - it's a total game changer and really gives you the freedom to be creative. There are plenty of good tutorials here on UA-cam! Have fun Leonie, thanks for being here 🌷
so great. i don't actually like using patterns i prefer very simple zero waste kind of block designs. but seeing how you adjusted the sleeves kind of gives me confidence in trying patterns
I love the finished top. The admission of your “oops” moments definitely decided me to subscribe. One thing every would be up cycler needs is patience as well as enough creativity to work round the mistakes, and redeem the original aim of the project, which you did beautifully. Well done, and warm wishes from Israel
The top is completely adorable! And your extra seams look very intentional and became design elements, not "oops" moments. Very smart, very chic!!!!!! Beautiful job!
This is stunning!! I love your attention to detail and how specifically you described each step. Also that the finished object is so different than what you started with, so inspiring!
I love the finished top and all the work you put into it. It’s lovely and so “you.” 😊You are pleasant and down-to-earth. Thank you for sharing your process with us.
Love the shape and fit. The embroidery is great. High end fabric look. I used to mark my patterns. Cut 1 or Cut 2 saved a lot of fabric and getting mad at yourself. Thank you.
Wow! What a beautiful and well thought out flip. I cannot sew anything other than fixing a button or stitching down a hem that has come undone, which is a why I am enamored with watching those who can. I’m in my 40’s and have tried on many occasions to pick up sewing & sometimes you just have to admit defeat 😂 It’s just something I’m not good at and it’s ok…I live happily & vicariously through UA-camr’s like you ❤ You did such a superb job on this shirt which was, by far, a tedious task but you went a step further even & added those lovely embroidery details. It came out a complete masterpiece❤ . 😂 😂
WELL DONE! I loved that you added your "oops" to show us the real deal. Great design from beginning to end. Loved the thrift flip finds from your other video and this one. I too have been going to the thrift to "learn the feel" of fabrics. Your personality is cute, especially the unicorn. I have to admit, I laughed when you made the mistakes because I know we have all done the same in our sewing. Thanks for being you......keep the videos coming.
This looks so nice on you. Thanks so much for this video! It was cool to see the whole process, especially when you had to fix or change things. It really taught me a lot!
You and I think along the same lines. I have remade clothing, from good fabrics, many times. I am just starting with pattern making. Thank you. Lovely blouse.
I appreciate you including how long it took. I’m working on a denim pinafore which is made using old jeans. I’m on day two but keep slowing down to get the details right, including ironing it as I go to get the seams nice and flat. Your shirt turned out amazingly😊
Ironing is such an important step! It's definitely worth it to take the time, since you'll probably have it for many, many years. From that perspective - what difference does a day or two make? Good luck with your project ✨
You did a great job! I'm very impressed. I've been designing and creating costumes for many years and have made those same mistakes. You should be very proud that you were able to overcome them within your fabric limitations. It's a darling top and so are you. Just subscribed so I can see what other projects you create.
It turned out great! And even though you made a mistake yourself, you inspired me to use the back of shirts for the front, and vice versa. So, thank you.
You did a great job! Ready made tops like that would have only done the front embroidery or a little loop type across neckline or just the sleeves. I may have done one of lesser. Enjoyed watching. 💕
The shirt is so cute!! I would really like to see how you finish those hems since i saw its still fraying after you sew em all together. It’d really help me because I’m always confused as to how people finish em especially at the armhole and the sides if they overlock it after sewing if that makes sense 🥺
I finished all the seams with a sort of criss-cross diamond stitch that is on my machine (I don't have a fancy machine at all, so I'm sure other machines have an equivalent). Basically it's the densest stitch option I have. You're right, after finishing the seams there were still some stray fibers falling out, but those are just the ones that were already frayed. Once they fall out, there won't be any more fraying. Trust me, it's solid. For the armhole and sides, I finished them with the diamond stitch after sewing everything together, but sometimes I will finish the edges first before sewing the pieces together if an area will be hard to get to after its sewn together. If you work with linen, I would highly recommend learning how to do french seams...they are a bit more technical and time consuming, but the final result is beautiful on the inside (no raw edges!) and it's the most solid way to finish fabric that frays. Good luck with your sewing!
Absolutely! Self drafting is really the best way to exercise your self expression - lots of room for creativity! Best of luck with your future projects ✨
What a gorgeous top! You did such a great job, and I love the embroidery! I've been thinking of ways to alter my fabric to make it personal. This was great inspiration. Thank you!

It must be my lucky day because YT suggested this video to me and it is fantastic! ✨👍 I love your sewing set up and this project! I really felt for you when you realised you'd cut the front piece in two - been there! But you totally saved it and I love the final garment - well done! 🎉🎉🎉

I haven't gotten to that oart yet, but i subscribed as soon as i saw your comment 😊 I too am a believer in authenticity! 🌄✨👍🏾
This is an Ai account… wait for the glitches that only involve her not the background. First her face then her left hand. Authenticity…?

this is a wonderful tutorial for how to use a bodice block! i loved seeing that in practice. the end product turned out wonderful!

This pattern would look fabulous on a beautiful jacquard silk!
Agreed 👍

Love it. Over my head. But I love learning. 👏👏👏👏

I like the embroidery idea and really appreciate your vid on thrifting natural fibres. Very helpful!
This looks so nice on you. Thanks so much for this video! It was cool to see the whole process, especially when you had to fix or change things. It really taught me a lot!
Good for you for keeping on with the project despite the drawbacks. Slow fashion for sure. It came out beautifully, congratulations.
Very nice; fan of the embroidery for sure
Looks beautiful. Very well done.
I totally love the result. Just wish I could sew.
Love the thrift flip and the ideas about fabric at my thrift shop. Will look differently at the racks now
Great job! Your reinterpretation is very much like the original, fun, dressmakery JJill, which is what the shirt started as. ❤️
Aw thank you! I've checked out J Jill online, and I have to say I like the style quite a bit.
the patchwork actually looks intentional, and the embroidery looks fantastic!

I love everything you had on in the video and the finished shirt is beautiful.

Excellent job ❤
Gorgeous final product!
Excellent results. Very nice top. The embroidery looks amazing. Note: a drop sleeve will lift the shirt much more with arm movements.
I love this and your new shirt! BEAUTIFUL!
So pretty. Well done. Nailed it!
Well done 👏 It’s beautiful. I do occasionally alter something but I find that I don’t have the patience or time.
It looks beautiful, thanks! i love it
