  • The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway held their annual Cotswold Festival of Steam Gala on the weekend from May 25th - 27th 2024. This years theme was Western Workhorses and saw a total of 7 locomotives in steam, all but one were Great Western locomotives whilst A Southern engine, 35006 'Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co.' was also in action. There was a mix of passenger and goods trains running over the weekend, as well as some local trains.
The event also saw the first public runs for 6880 'Betton Grange', and was undoubtedly the star attraction. She was joined by two other guests in the form of Saint 2999 'Lady of Legend' and West Somerset's unique GWR Mogul no. 9351. The weather throughout the Saturday, which I attended was glorious, we stayed at Hayles Abbey Halt and got a surprise bonus when some traction engines in convoy came down our way!
