  • So we want to keep playing and honing this random wire, to find the length that works for 80-10 meter.
    So I’ll be adding length.
The wire is currently at 39 Feet.
I forgot to mention I was able to tune this for 6 meter FM. Had a QSO with a operator on my local 6 m repeater. So that was fun.
But with help from friends and our community. I think I’m going to try the 71 foot wire next. Stay tuned for part 3.
If you haven’t seen Part 1 here’s the link. Random wire antenna 9:1 unun

Also here’s the LDG 9:1 link from DX Engineering where if you want to get one yourself. www.dxengineer...

Just a suggestion, maybe you could make a video showing how to properly do an RF exposure evaluation including how to document it and what form to use for FCC compliance? Just a suggestion, might be useful to those that don’t even know what I’m referring to. Thanks!

Don't forget to add a 1:1 UNUN so you don't bring common mode current into the shack. I just bought a couple of them for a new 9:1 balun I'm making for a random wire antenna for POTA. I'm going to drop a video of how to water proof the LDG enclosure so it can be left outside.

It’s in line behind the LDG shown in the video. Using the MFJ 915
Look forward to your video on weather proofing.

I just got one of these today,I think i am missing something,I cut it for 12 meters 24.940 3.7 swr and then I checked 20 meters 14.240 and the swr was 1.02 I did the 468÷2 for 12 meters.
    Any ideas mike?

Nine to one is for random length of wire. It’s not really random. But the lengths are not half wave at all.
Read this link I am providing for you. Near the middle look for the numbers in GREEN. Use one of those lengths for an end fed.

I used 71 foot of wire. Got me on 160-10 meter. But you chose what’s best for you.

Where did you get your splitter? I'm wondering if you used the eavsetrough I may try connecting to the metal roofing and see if it works.
