When looking at Antenna options buying or building, don't limit yourself to too just 10m. you will not always me a Tech, you will get bit by the HF bug. So don't pigoen yourself now and a single banded antenna. Hope to get you in my logs one day.
Did you put a choke (1:1 or some wraps with a toroid) in the feed line? That was likely your issue-common mode current. Random wires always have more CMC than a resonant antenna. Woah 151 contacts. Awesomw
no, i never figured out what caused those spikes. I was expecting them coming back if i had some bad equipment. However they didn't show back up. When i get another feedline for my pota setup it will have a choke built in.

Lengths for a random wire antennas' radiating element are best which are non-multiples of any band.
