For those in Current Year AD who may be wondering: Baldur's Gate 3 is working from the ending in which Baldur's Gate is protected, Elturel is saved, but Zariel is unredeemed.
I'm actually DMing this campaign and even having the sourcebook, reading the chapters in detail makes me forget the big picture of the campaign. That said, this video is a great guide for Descent into Avernus DMs, especially for those who want to prepare players for Baldur's Gate 3! Also, for those who intend to play in the future: I recommend playing the one-shot Fall of Elturel before the campaign, to connect players to the city, making everything a little bit more personal.
I really enjoy this idea. If you ever find yourself at a loss for content ideas, narrating all kinds of other d&d lore stories would definitely be something I'd watch. I do understand that it is a ton of work, though.
It seems like a HUGE amount of work for very little pay-off. This kind of content is something that I could completely understand being pay-walled on Patreon.
@@Al-vi5kl that and the fact that people truly interested in D&D lore are relatively rare. Sure, a lot of people play D&D, but far fewer actually care about the who, what, when, where, and why. Making content for a niche audience isn't, usually, worth the squeeze.
@spaceweed10 as an individual product? Probably not, but as part of an on-going high quality service -- definitely. Wolf does great work, but some of the projects (like this one) are very likely not worth his time to do regularly. They take A LOT of time to produce, if done well.
Part of me hopes that Larian will give a condensed video of Elturel's fall into Avernus and Zariel's story at the beginning of the game. Not every player will get to watch this video (though I would suggest it to anyone who plays the game) and it fleshes out the story so much. Kudos and thank you. Fun fact: the Arkhan Dragonborn follower of Tiamat in this story is based off of the roleplay character of actor Joe Manganiello.
Every second you put into prep, recording, and editing paid off in spades dude! I could listen to this over and over. I’m DMing this campaign, and it’s so comforting to have a clear understanding of how the *story* goes and not just the gameplay

Zariel being fully redeemed so quickly was a bit hokey, but not bad overall. Sounds like a fun campaign. Thanks for putting this together, I'm no DnD lore expert so this should help greatly with understanding the events and setting going into BG3.
This was epic. I am about to run Descent into Avernus with my DnD-group and this was a MASSIVE help to get my mind wrapped around the book! Great job and many thanks

I've put in over 500 hours into DoS2 and that's what got my friends and I into D&D 5e. We're beyond excited for BG3 and I can't wait to run this campaign with them before the game releases. Lovely narration! I heard this was a pre quel to BG3 so I had to check it out, it is unfortunate to know that Zariel is not redeemed as cannon, however, it does make sense since she basically went rogue and got herself involved in the blood war. Knowing this and other things about BG3's ending, this could easily become DLC, that or the Gyth war against Vlaakith, I know Larian doesn't have intentions of more story content but man, what a crime it would be if BG3 doesn't get any, there's plenty here for a decent sized story, or perhaps you know, a sequel which will be the most likely scenario.

You have a great gift for storytelling, and you know how to compliment it with images. I want to thank you for this story. I await surgery and listening to this helped ease the anxiety. Better than any book, movie or TV show Inread or watched this week. Thanks
Great video. I own the module in D&D Beyond and Fantasy Grounds, but it's awesome to hear it all streamlined like this. I can't imagine the amount of work it took to put this together. Great job Sir
Thank you Kathrak! It was fun trying to decide the path I want the story to go. They give you a lot of options in the source book.
2 years late to the party but better late than never, right? Fantastic job Wolf, great video!
Truly appreciated this series, @WolfheartFPS. Looking forward to BGIII.
Appreciate you watching Bill!
I can't imagine how long a video like this takes to make... thank you for your entertaining but hard work!
thanks for listening
Thanks for the read through. I'm counting watching this as preparing for DMing my next session.
Thanks for watching
I really agree with everyone saying that narrated modules would be a super neat series.
Well done.
I made it to the end! Thanks for putting together such a long video!
Really appreciate that! More narrations to come.

It is I who appreciate you! I plan on reading BG: DIA at some point, but you composed a well-narrated summary of it and saved me a lot of time in an entertaining way. Thanks again =)
I could listen to you narrate all day...
Also, I needed the background info for BD3. So, thanks. I love story time.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for narrating the story! This was great to help me prepare to DM.
Godspeed on your campaign!
The fire and night sounds are so cool and relaxing ☺
Listening this to prep myself for Baldur's Gate 3. Only 1 1/2 hrs away. Woohoo! Thanks for the video. I can only imagine how much work was put into this. I hope we'll be heading to Avernus and get to face Zariel!
About to run this in a couple weeks and this was a great way to get into it, while reading the source material. Awesome job.
So good, watching this to fill in BG3 backstory. Very cool
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed listening to your story. Now I really hope that Larian goes for a similar ending. Nonetheless, consider yourself added to my favorite list. I would love to see more of your uploads regarding Baldur's gate 3
Thank you so much for making this video. Watched it all while waiting for BG3 release tomorrow.
thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for doing this. Looking forward to druid of land guide!
Thanks for watching Conner!
I'm running this campaign as DM. I'm dyslexic and you're narration really helped me understand the story line a lot better!...... Now I just need someone to narrate the textboxes:-)
That's awsome u put this out...
I was just reading the comic books that lead up to this!
Awesome happy you enjoyed it. Thank you
Excellent work! Thank you. Minor gripe: Elturel is not a city state but the capital of the kingdom of Elturgard.
We need more of this just narrating dungeon and dragon stories/campaigns I love it also do games aswell
