I will never forget the feeling of being there. I travelled up from Durban, and got pulled over by a cop doing 160km/h in Harrismith. But when he saw me and my mate were wearing Bafana jerseys he told us that we should keep up the pace to get to the stadium on time. I only wish I could take every person who ever doubts our country and let them experience the unrivalled unity of 45000 South Africans singing Shosholoza.
As a Canadian I have to say this is the most incredible stadium song I have ever heard. I have heard nothing in my homeland to compare to this. How can a team lose with such a stirring song being sung by the crowd. I would love to be in a stadium in South Africa (preferably Rugby not Soccer) and hear the crowd singing this.
+Rob White Next yearn at either Ireland or Austrlia , because i live in Joburg and might drive to Pretoria for the match, i want to stir up shosholoza during the match. It would be really be great if they sang this during the Haka
We went to China as team of 7 South Africans and we sang Shosholoza on very cold winter while waiting for bus to pick us to the stadium. Within a minute we were surrounded by ppl and asking us to sing it again and some even sing along..
I will cherish the moment I was there forever! Its amazing how everyone joins together in one voice and how they transmit all their feelings. It's nice interesting to see how this video causes such possitive reactions! It's gonna be an amazing World Cup!
If this is not regular practice at every Bafana Bafana game,it should be !..this is even more impressive than the Kiwi Haka (Which is also very awesome to see.) But this gives me goosebumps all over.Leave the vuvuzela's, just keep singing this for 30 orso minutes on end. I'll bet you, your opponents will be awe struck! If not by intimidation, then by beauty! Thanks for the great post!
imagine that when you re playing on the field then u re here 45000 people singing shosholoza song !!! I will hammer my opponent!! In rugby... I'm a Sri Lankan .... But I always love South Africa.. even in 2019 Rugby W cup...I was supporting them...Siya Kolisi made it bigger!!! One of my favorite player...I'm playing rugby in Sri Lanka and I always wanted to be a player like him...and I will be🇱🇰❤️💯🙏🌴
Earlier today I cried without any appearant reason listening to this video. And I mean crying like a baby. I just can't explain what happened. I wasn't sad, nothing bad happaned, I even received money today befre this happened. I only know that after what happened I took a decision I thought I would never take in my life. I decided that in this world cup I will not support my country's team, Brazil. I will support South Africa or if they can't make to the finals any other African team.
This is one of the things that make soccer so beautiful, no other sport can make the entire world come together like this. I conside myself fortunate to have attended the World Cup in S.A.
I apologise for coarse language, but F**K YEAH! I'm hoping to watch Samoa (my nationality) vs South Africa, whose music I love especially this song play in the Rugby World Cup at North Harbour Stadium in my homeland of New Zealand. I hope this gets to happen.
I was first introduced this song in the World Scout Moot in 2004, it was the best folk song I have ever listened to!!! Last year I saw the movie Invictus, and I found I love it even more!
@josedaviddg no..hearing ' Shosolosa' by the Bafana Bafana fans was far more emotional than 'you'll never walk alone'' I live in the Uk and have been to anfield many times...I loved the world cup in SA and my abiding memory will always be the people of SA and their singing of this beautiful song.
It's nice to see the great reception this little vid has had. Too bad that Bafana Bafana had to go so soon! Anyway, I hope that the games will get better as the group phase ends! Cheers!
@josedaviddg Thank you for putting this up, I almost cried when I heard it. I will never forget this World Cup. To me Bafana Bafana fans are just as dedicated as Mexico Fans or fans from any other country where footbol is life.
+Reece Vanpletsen TV-station all over the world had to adjust the sound mix to filter those things out. At first the public station here said that this was simply the African culture, so they left it untouched. But because it was so annoying, they changed it as well.
This is so so so completely amazing!!!! BEAUTIFUL! It gave me the goosebumps... ONE DAY I'll come to a Celtic Bloemfontein match with my Coritiba green-and-white to have a great time!!! Regards from Coritiba - Green Hell - Brazil
Wow since we let the africans into the stadium, our singing sure got a lot better. Way overdue IMHO. Good to see a nation finally uniting. Glad I come from there. Sorry I left.
Amazing!!! I watched this game with my friends, I started crying. But If you think this is great, the Bloemfontein Celtic fans do it a million times better! SIWELE SA MASELE
More African Songs and less Vuvuzelas and the African World Cup 2010 had been remembered like a fable by everyone...tha a poor country has done all this....but the Vuvuzelas destroyed a lot and almost nobody talks about the african WC ... that's sad because it was only 2 years ago and not 10 or 20 years
If you follow the South African club game, the only club/city that really sings is Bloemfontein. So it was always more likely to hear singing in this stadium.
Vuvuzelas are a waste, South African football fans used to sing at the football games not that long ago, and it's plain to see that they can sing more beautifuly than any other fans in the world. And now everybody think they only can blow silly plastic trumpets to make a hell of a noise. So unfair.
Many Brazilians have African heritage. The Trans Atlantic slave trade continued longer there than anywhere else. More Africans were brought there but they also mixed alot so many people who you wouldn't expect have some African DNA, those with Asian, European or Native heritage. Many Brazilians take pride in their diversity.

:-)
No country beats this when it comes to singing an anthem at an event like this. Everyone is singing different harmonies. Sounds epic!

Invictius look it up

Yeah I might try to have TD Garden chant this
I'm gonna try and pull it off at a Hawks or Falcons game
Whites cant sing like that so let's be honest u won't get that from rugby stadium!
Proudly south african this is how we role herr. Respect the game
We went to China as team of 7 South Africans and we sang Shosholoza on very cold winter while waiting for bus to pick us to the stadium. Within a minute we were surrounded by ppl and asking us to sing it again and some even sing along..

Brazil is the biggest African country out of Africa! And that is why we love Africa! Hope to see you guys around in 2014!

A FUCKING GREAT MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!
WHEN I LISTENED THIS FOR THE FIRST IN INVICTUS, REALLY MADE ME CRAP ON MY PANTS
@Chris4571 same my man... Wonderful!!!!!
@josedaviddg To me its like when Mexican Fans sing Cielito Lindo, I get that same wave of emotion.
No, the vuvuzelas were a big PAIN in the rear for all, disrespecting all & sundry.
in dem Lied geht es zwar um einen Zug aber OK hört sich trotzdem cool an
fucking vuvuzelas - desde Argentina
More African Songs and less Vuvuzelas and the African World Cup 2010 had been remembered like a fable by everyone...tha a poor country has done all this....but the Vuvuzelas destroyed a lot and almost nobody talks about the african WC ... that's sad because it was only 2 years ago and not 10 or 20

@lordofwrath88 You will probably just hear that horrible buzz from the vuvuzelas, It would be great though.
@cmacmuiris yes you are right ;)
like it! as long no VUVUZELA sounds
@josedaviddg yes, kind of
Kumnandi Ekhaya
This is what I was expecting at the world cup and not those stupid vuvuzelas. I love south african music...I am a recent convert .
the south africans missed their chance at the cup to show their real potential
Vuvuzelas are a waste, South African football fans used to sing at the football games not that long ago, and it's plain to see that they can sing more beautifuly than any other fans in the world. And now everybody think they only can blow silly plastic trumpets to make a hell of a noise. So unfair.
man... hearing this, the vuvuzelas make no sense whatsoever!
Also the biggest white nation of the Southern Hemisphere.
That's is what south Africans should be singing in WC matches, not the damm vuvuzela, that brings nothing to a football match
The biggest african country outside Africa? Makes no sense....
