Okay first of all, THANK YOU for checking out THE VOCAL KINGS AKA EMPEROR OF KPOP. I've just subscribed and can't wait for you to react to more EXO.
Since you're getting into Exo, I'll leave some(actually quite a lot) details about them here so you can get to know about them a lil. Please take your time reading the whole comment. TIA.. :)
1. EXO debuted in 2012 with 1w members, currently there are 9 members. However, due to conflict between South Korea and china, the Chinese member Lay had to stop promoting with the group. Later he left the company SM after his contract expired. But he's still part of the group.
2. Some titles given to EXO are - VOCAL KINGS OF KPOP, NATION'S PICK, ALL ROUNDER GROUP, KINGS OF K-POP, KINGS OF LIVE PERFORMANCE, VISUAL GROUP, EMPEROR OF KPOP, GLOBAL PICK, LEADERS OF KPOP GENERATIONS and so on.
EXO fandom name is EXO-L.
3. EXO have their own story of being ALIENS who came to earth from EXO PLANET after an evil force destroyed their planet. So as aliens they have super powers which you'll see in their Mvs. You can check the starting of story in their debut song MAMA. All their Mvs connects the storyline. They were the first group to start storyline in K-pop.
4. Exo's story is connected to SOLAR ECLIPSE. If not all, most of their comebacks are released on the day of past or present solar eclipse. They debuted on APRIL 8TH and recently celebrated their 12th anniversary on the April 8th solar eclipse day. (Trust me it gets interesting)
5. EXO holds the fastest selling out record in the whole world by selling out their concert tickets within 0.2 second. Their previous record was 0.4 second and 1.47 second. They sold around 67k tickets.
6. All Exo members can not only sing but they are dancers, rappers, actors, musical actors, brand ambassadors of big brands like Gucci, Dior, yak and so on, they're so g writers, producers, can play multiple musical instruments.
7. 3 members of Exo now have their own entertainment company.
8. The top 3 male vocalists of K-pop are actually the 3 main vocalists of EXO. Even the main rapper of exo can be a vocalist.
9. EXO IS OFFICIALLY A SEPTUPLE MILLION SELLER WITH THEIR 7TH FULL ALBUM 'EXIST' released in 2023.

There were 2 guys singing at the end of the song that you liked. The 2 main vocalists CHEN then BAEKHYUN. Chen is the bestest vocalist of K-pop industry followed by D.O. and Baekhyun. Baekhyun is also called GENIUS IDOL because of his talents. D.O. gets praised by everyone in the industry for his rifs and runs.
The main dancer KAI actually won the best dancer poll a few times and consider as the 2nd best dancer in K-pop after his close friend Taemin. Taemin is from the group SHInee.
EXO is one of the biggest groups of kpop. And the richest group of K-pop as well. An article informed that exo's net worth are 1 billion USD.
They are also recognised as The sensation of K-pop and World class performers. Even as soloist they are top tier. You'll actually get different vibes from different exo members. But none will disappoint you I promise.

EXO is THE kpop group. They are often called “Nation’s Pick” by the general public. They have been awarded by the government multiple times for their global impact and influence. And although there are now other groups more famous than them, EXO is the only boy group (along with Big Bang) given recognition, acknowledgement, and respect by the general public.

EXO had to come and maintain to a very high standard in Asia mostly, other groups explored the western stage and collaborations with famous western artists 😊

They have a uniquely diverse discography where b-sides are just as good and sometimes even better than title tracks. Their live performances are one of a kind and they are unmatchable in that. Their dancing choreos are intricate, difficult and fantastic. They are the kind of group that will surprise you every time you listen to them. As I mentioned they are known as the vocal kings. EXO has the vocal trinity “D.O., Baekhyun and Chen” who are highly acclaimed by critics as among the best vocalists in South Korea. Everyone of them has great vocals, even the rappers. One of the members, Kai, is one of the best dancers in the industry, another, D.O is one of the best actors of his generation with more than 20 prestigious prizes and another one Baekhyun, has broken records twice in a row with two of his solo albums as the first soloist to sell more than 2 million copies in nearly 20 years in South Korea. They have way too many prizes to be counted and they hold the Guinness record for the fastest sold concert at 0.02 sec and we are taking about more than 30,000 seats. They have a great fandom called EXO-L and it is amazing how loved they are internationally even though their agency does not market them. The more you listen to them the more you’ll love their music. EXO are called VOCAL kings of kpop.
Between the years 2013-2018 they were the most successful group in the industry. They gave them a lot of names out of appreciation and admiration for them and compared a lot to big groups and world-class singers in terms of their popularity, their abilities and their talent. That's why they were chosen to perform at the Olympics in 2018. Despite their global success and many invitations to the most prestigious performances in the US, their company only allowed them to develop in Korea.
They were so big that you could see the immense love given to them throughout the years at awards shows, talk shows, etc.

EXO is a 9 member group. They debut in 2012 with 12 members and are divided into 2 sub-units, EXO-K (sing in Korean) and EXO-M (sing in Mandarin). From 2014 - 2015, 3 Chinese members left for various reasons. So with 9 members left (8 Koreans and 1 Chinese), the sub-units were combined and became EXO. Due to issues between South Korea and China, Lay, the only Chinese member left, could not perform with the rest since 2018 I think. And in 2019, EXO went on hiatus due to enlistment. So for the duration, they carry out solo projects such as acting, musicals, solo albums, variety shows, etc. All will complete enlistment in 2024/2025. The members are Suho (leader), Xiumin, Lay, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Chen, D.O., Kai and Sehun. EXO can do any genre but they lean more towards R&B. And yes, they're very well known for their live vocals. Please react to EXO's Killing Voice where they sang snippets of their hits so you can get an idea of their songs.
Thank you! When I discovered EXO I was so confused about the EXO-K, EXO-M and EXO thing that I didn't look further into them. I don't know why but for some reason the NCT sub unit thing was easier to grasp to me. You explained it VERY well! Now I finally get it. 😅

EXO sub units are just basic, since their main market was Korea-China, so they divided groups with 2 sub units, K and M, one had korean members, other had chinese ( 4) and 2 Korean ( who has chinese name) Sing the same song but 2 different languages. Originally that was the plan, but SM realised Chinese members were famous in Korea like Luhan, Xiumin, while Korean members got famous in China like Baekhyun, Sehun, Chanyeol, so they started to add them in the MV only, and sometimes have lines in title song too, ( but for b-side Korean sings in korean and Chinese in mandarin but the song and melody is same) Overdose, Wolf,Growl,Call me baby are example.
After "Call me baby", They say goodbye to the sub unit thing. But in 2016, members started to do solo projects( acting, modeling etc) three members didn’t have much projects, Chen Baekhyun, Xiumin,so their Gym trainer told them," You guys have similar height, all the cutest, and don’t have a job, do something together " that's how CBX created, like so unserious 🤣 then Chenyeol and Sehun in 2019 said, we are rappers but we want to sing, plus we have same height too"😆 so SC created. The EXO sub unit is created on the basis of height, no graduation, no rotation, no evaluation, no difficult stuffs🤷♀️ easy peasy😊

The guy you mentioned at the start with the voice .... yeah it's legit. You should look into their solo stuff too. I'm not big into them so I don't know much but Kai and D.O. have some bomb songs.

as a fellow anime fan obsession blew me away in particular for exo so i definitely recommend that next! the mv is insane, definitely one of the best concepts in kpop tbh (exo lore stuff..) there is less members because of military service shenanigans just in case that's confusing!
Brother, what can I recommend to you about Exo? They have almost 500 songs and each one is a masterpiece. I hope you, like flowing water, find your way to Exo songs. If I were you, I would thank God every day for bringing Exo to me. Better late than never, right? Hahaha, enjoy the pleasure of getting to know Exo.
In order to understand the story in EXO's "Monster" MV, as well as all of EXO's content, you have to know that it's all connected, and every new piece that's introduced explains a little more of EXO's story. Each MV is like another chapter in SM Entertainment's SM Culture Universe storyline and it's all part of a larger story that also includes the majority of SM's other groups' and artists' storylines. It's like a giant graphic novel or mystery movie series.
Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything -- including all of their MVs, the majority of their sub-sub-unit MVs and members' solo MVs, teaser videos, concert stages, concert VCRs (videos played in between sets at concerts) and choreography, as well as special content included with their albums, etc. -- is designed to help tell a little more of EXO's story.
EXO debuted back in 2012, and from the very beginning their concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have come to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. And as otherworldly beings, each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them. "Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV.
As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo."
Therefore, the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also was supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is also red, which means that it most likely represents something to do with the Red Force.
However, if you look up the English translation of the lyrics, you will see in the song, the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. Which could be a metaphor for EXO's connection to the heart of the Tree of Life.
The woman in EXO's songs is often thought to be a metaphor and physical representation of the Tree of Life. That is why the members are always trying to save the girl or protect her, or they talk about being controlled by the power of the woman or they are worried about their passion destroying her, etc. It's EXO's job to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force. EXO was sent to Earth on a mission to find the two halves of the tree and reunite them in order to restore peace in the world. The two halves of the tree -- EXO-K (Korean) represents one half and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) represents the other half -- were originally separated in order to keep the Red Force from gaining control. However, now, in order to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, EXO needs to defeat the Red Force and find where the two halves of the tree have been hidden.
Therefore, the story in "Monster" is all about EXO's origin story and about how they are trying to stop the Red Force from corrupting humanity, while also trying to find clues to where the Tree of Life is located.
Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography.
For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography we see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When we see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography we see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. We see Kai slide backward and forward into the center of the group while waving his arms to represent him teleporting. And when Chanyeol jumps over Lay, Sehun and Xiumin, this could be him using his phoenix fire wings to fly, or it could be showing him leaping over flames because he has the power to control fire. Sehun's superpower is the ability to control wind, so during his parts, we see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. (Lay has the power of healing and Chen has the power of Thunder and Lightning, so I am sure their powers are also represented in the dance, however, I'm not sure the specific move.) And the part where they are sitting on the ground with their one knee in the air as they rotate is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun.
You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch their "Lotto" MV, just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto".
How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force.
"Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why we see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out about EXO, so they are trying to keep a low profile.
As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO -- EXO's alter ego clones -- and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.)
We also see Lay, EXO's Chinese member, crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured.
Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" we also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai, who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation, he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc.
In EXO's "Obsession" MV the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO -- EXO's alter ego clones who have been created by the Red Force -- and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO -- the good guys. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession" -- which is one of EXO's more recent releases -- we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time.

From 2015 to 2022, they were nicknamed the Kings of K-pop. At the awards, at the survival shows, in the news they were always called Kings, even billboard in 2019 wrote that the crown was in safe hands of EXO. In 2023, they were nicknamed the Emperors, giving other groups a chance to be nicknamed kings. Now they are being presented as the Emperors of K-pop, they have been given the title above. The Korean government has officially named EXO the Nation's Pick. The Korean president has chosen EXO to meet with the US president in 2019. Since 2013, EXO were the first in the top until 2019, after which they had a break due to military service.

You can actually react to and Stan multiple K-pop groups, soloists with no issues at all. Because ultimately it's your choice. For reaction, when you're reacting to one group, don't mention any other. That should be just fine I guess.
There are fanwars between fans as always. Just how it is for Western singers fans. Everyone likes to see their faves at the top. So it's normal. Don't let it get to you and you'll be able to enjoy the beauty of K-pop.

I've been listening to EXO since their debut. I love all their songs for the most part, but "Fall" is one of my favorites. They are my second favorite group after SHINee and I have 2 biases (favorite) members D.O and Baekhyun.

I came to kpop in late 2013, witnessed many group debuts. I like kpop in general, but only EXO remained my ult group till this day. Their discography drew me in and their talents and personalities made me stay.❤
Thanks for the reaction, I enjoyed it. If you react to other songs, you'll find that every member sings very well. They have a large diverse discography that never fails to impress. The members also have their own solo albums that are must listen. Recommendations, try: Obsession, Tempo, Cream Soda, Love Shot, Mama (their debut song,). Too many to name. The B sides are incredible too. Overall there are about 300 hundred songs that are all must hear! Yes I'm fangirling! LOL

the voice you like so much is Baekhyun. He's the main vocalist of exo-k. (they used to have 2 parts lol. exo-m and exo-k, mandarin and korean)
His solo work is some of the best around and his range and talent is top tier.
The other main vocalist is Chen, he did that high note that got your attention. his solo work is also top tier.
Together they are h ands down twp of the absolute best ever vocalists in kpop.
Exo IS the standard for quality, vocals , rap and dance.
How could you forget about the holy trinity’s third member?? D.O, not a flashy as the other 2 but he is the heart and soul of EXO songs! I love them all though 😅😂❤
Exo has 3 Main vocalists. Kyung Soo was originally a main vocalist for Exo-K too. His technique is rated higher than baekhyun.
All members of EXO are also actors too. Kyungsoo aka DO has gotten so many awards for his acting.

EXO is my third favorite kpop group and my second favorite boy group. Monster is my favorite song just before Mama and Wolf. I admit I don't know why since I think Mama is better but I have a particular attachment to this song
EXO just built different, I can put it in words about how much this group is talented and absolutely hard-working. They got the best vocal out there, best vocalists are in this group and it cant be denied, they got that crazy dancers and reapers too, Like If you want a full package with extra you should be exo_l. I've been a fan for like6-7 years and I'm highly glad about it

Llevo casi 12 años como EXOL, si supieras quien es este grupo comprenderias el porque el exito aun de tantos años, lo bueno que son en grupo y como solistas, verias con quien siempre compiten y aun les llegan a ganar premios, cuantos records tienen, logros como en la fuente de Dubai , la MLB, Olimpiadas de invierno, quien fue el 1er solista coreano que logro lo que ningun otro luego de 12 años etc etc, y pensar que a este grupo le llamaron el peor fracaso de SM y a sido el grupo que a resaltado a la empresa que los critico y hasta les compro su primer edificio,12 años es una historia fascinante , actores ,modelos de DIOR,GUCCI ,PRADA ETC ,CEOS , productores, y mas son estos chicos, te recomiendo ver videos en vivo de ellos y

EXO has the title of emperors of Kpop, they are one of the biggest groups, and the Kings of vocals.
Yes they are massively successful in Asia, their concerts sell out in seconds, and they have a song called "Growl" that is so popular in South Korea that koreans make jokes that if you do not know that song your probably a spy lol, you should def check more of their stuff in terms of skill alone the top boy group of vocals! :)

This is the group that finally got me into K-pop about 2 years ago with this MV. Little did I know I was starting big with THE “Vocal Kings”/“Emperors of K-pop” and they are still my ult group for good reason. The main vocal line has 3 powerhouse vocalists who are acknowledged as some of the best in K-pop (Chen, Baekhyun & D.O.) plus Kai who is called the “Idol of Idols”.

It will be worth your while to continue reacting to EXO who just celebrated their 12th anniversary in the industry. They've got a massive and highly diverse and stunning discography, but leans more toward RnB. Nobody is doing it like these boys!

There used to be 12 members, 8 Korean and 4 Chinese, but 3 of the Chinese members left the group within about 2 years after debuting(Debuted in 2012) and there is 1 remaining Chinese member but he hasn't really been active since 2018 I think. Or earlier. I can't remember. This group also has some of the most amazing vocalists in K-Pop!!

EXO King of Vocal, all members can sing for each other. Brutal main vocal Sparkling singing techniques Flexible sound range and many ranges of sounds, smooth harmony beat, lots of adlibs, rap is very flowy and unique, songs on each album have many styles and are different. No matter how many 10 years have passed EXO has never stopped improving their singing, dancing and music skills. They have always competed with each other in the past. Grab the mic every time, creating wow, excitement, and impressing the audience with live performance. They are talented in every aspect and have a clear uniqueness in making each person's solo album music style. And every EXO song is difficult, like it's easy to listen to and chill to sing. But all idol singers guarantee that both singing and dancing for covers are not easy. EXO just sits and sings the keys of women's songs in a very chill manner. Thank you for your great support and reactions regarding the EXO members.

There was a time between 2015 and 2018 when EXO dominated the charts and the awards shows, but, unfortunately, their company wasn't interested to promote them outside Asia and, beginning with 2019,they started to enlist into the mandatory service one by one, so, other groups took the opportunity. Anyway, that doesn't stop them to have many fans in the west (America) and Europe, some of them, like me, are following them for years and never saw them live together, but that won't stop us to be upto date ( hail to UA-cam!!👍)
Personally, I'm a big fan of their b-tracks, there is no song to be skipped from their albums, but, if we stay to the title tracks, I love Overdose, Mama ( debut song) and Obsession. What's amazing is that EXO have top tier vocals, very smooth choreographies and nice melodic rap, a deadly combination for a demanding ear like mine , I mean, my jump from rock to kpop was clean and quick, without hesitation. EXO is known for their variety of styles that they tried and pulled off flawless, but they are famous for their r&b tracks, high praise to their vocal teacher !! They have songs for every taste and, after 12 years from their debut, they still sell over million albums and streams. Many other kpop idols are big fans of them , they cover their songs and even take vocal lessons from EXO's private coach ☺️ There are companies who contact their songwriters and ask for songs like EXO's ( "Love Shot" alike, for example)
Also individually, they are well known solo artists, with at least one album released each one, with solo concerts around Asia ( patiently waiting for them to come to Europe🥹)

For the best sneak peak to their discography and also their skills in singing, you can react to 'EXO Killing Voice' by dingo music. Although some members couldn't join the performance due to military service and solo stuff in China, you will know why they are called the 'Vocal King'.
I highly recommend "Obsession" by them. Vocals are insane.
