The Jimin Effect:
The "Jimin Effect" refers to BTS's Jimin and is defined as a "short circuit that happens in the wiring of the brain when one first experiences a visual encounter with Park Jimin." It will usually result in feelings of love and happiness but differs depending on what version of Jimin is encountered. If you encounter Mochi Jimin, the usual reaction is to grab the nearest person and demand how someone as adorable as Jimin can exist. If you encounter Sexy Jimin, then it is normal to pause while the brain tries to reconfigure everything it once thought about the world. This may last a few minutes or even hours, and it may result in becoming "frook shoken."
Frook Shoken:
A state of paralysis that occurs in the left brain of a heterosexual male upon his first visual encounter with BTS' Park Jimin. It is caused by a combination of shock, awe, and general confusion, and can last up to 9 hours. Symptoms include staring and/or rapid blinking, repetitions of the word "how" and a slackness of jaw which may result in drool. It is simply known as the Jimin Effect when it happens to straight females and homosexual males, but the added layer of confusion resulting in left brain paralysis is what makes Frook Shoken specific to the straight male subject. Everyone in the Fandom was so excited when this song dropped. We all shouted, passed out, shocked with our mouths opened and confused haha. So crazy experience. The teaser alone went viral that a lot of armys look for clues and meaning about what the MV would be. Such a beautiful era. My favorite song actually. It's gets me hyped and active everytime I listen to it.

Each song tells about his personal struggles and growth during the pandemic. This song is called "Part 2" because Suga already had a song named "Set Me Free" in his mixtape "D-2". This song is from the same album as Like Crazy. The album is called FACE. And in it he talks about his feelings during the Covid lockdown.
BTS were about to embark on a massive world tour for their album Map of the Soul: 7. But due to Covid it was cancelled and they were very restricted for so long in what they were able to do.
They did online concerts, vlogs and lives to keep in touch with ARMY.
Historically, Jimin has faced a lot of hate for being “effeminate”. People would refer to him in derogatory terms and he got a LOT of death threats. I think this song is such a celebration of who he is and how he won’t hide himself anymore. He’s, as you say, liberated.
P.S: the text on Jimins body is a German poem called “Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringen” by Rainer Maria Rilke. In English it translates to “I live my life in ever widening circles.”

Yea...during the promotions of Face he revealed that during covid he was in quite a dark place. I believe he got over it through working on this album! Music liberated him!

Jimin is the perfect idol - talented, smart, athletic, charismatic, and most importantly is that he has a big heart and pure soul. As a fan I am so proud of him. He remains humble, authentic and true to his words despite the fame, never been arrogant. I agree, his voice is so unique. Thank you for reacting to one of his songs and hopefully you'll react to more of Jimin videos.
Jimin was super involved in the composition, production, and writing of this song as well as his full Face album. His documentary, Jimin's production diary shows the full creative process he and his small team of producers went through. This was a deeply personal album for him.
I love that we got to see some of that process, and I really love that he dug in and made these very personal songs.
After they serve I desperately want to see what Jimin and Suga create together - specifically them, because they talked about it a tiny bit on Suchwita, and both of their faces lit up with excitement like a kid at Christmas. It was great 😁

This song is from the same album as Like Crazy! Jimin composed and wrote the entire album and contributed to the choreography and mv ideas as well. The versatility Jimin showed on his first ever album was incredible. He's the best performer and storyteller I've seen in Kpop. His choreography, mv and music and lyrics are always so well connected with so much depth.

The profound impact it created on me, when I first saw this work, I still can't get over! Not only the voice and the idea of the choreography, but also its lyrics, those lyrics that tell us about a man who has come to know and accept himself with his lights and shadows.Another incredible work by Park Jimin is undoubtedly Lie and Serendipity on stage.
I was blown away the first time I heard and saw this! Also somehow I felt proud. That he’s done something so strong and (in my opinion) sort of daring. He’s so versatile, his voice can do many things, he’s intelligent and clever. This video has it all. I kept thinking I’m not ready for the rest of the album, and I wasn’t! It’s a beautiful piece of work. I know this one is less “mainstream” than Like Crazy, but it won my heart first, so I think I am bias towards it. My favorite on the album is Face-off. But then again, the hidden track Letter is something that’s not even a song anymore, it’s just pure love and comfort. 💜

I was proud of him too! He could have done things that are safe, that he knew we'd love, but instead he stepped waaaaaay outside expectations with this powerful anthem. Some people hated it, and he knew that would happen, but it's an honest piece of him, a sincere work of art. He's not going to suppress that just to do what people want.
I was hoping he'd surprise us, and delighted that he did. Everyone's solos have been amazing, but for me Jimin's was the most surprising.
Can't wait for pjm2. He did say he wants to try different genres so that's something to look forward to. What a versatile artist. 💛

Set Me Free Pt 1 is called “Interlude: Set Me Free” by Agust D. Agust D’s song is about uncertainty about the future and Jimin’s is about looking toward the future.
That has nothing to do with Jimin’s Song SET ME FREE PT.2. How many JIMIN himself have said this in his every Interview he’s given why are y’all Spreading misinformation ???? There’s no Set me free pt.1.
If you know K-pop at least for a year you would know how many SET ME FREE songs are there in K-pop.
Even a week before jimin’s song, there was TWICE’s song release called SET ME FREE. JIMIN gave it “ Pt.2” only coz There are plenty of songs with that title in K-pop so he wanted his to hav its own Identity. That has nothing to do with Suga’s song. Stop spreading misinformations about JIMINS CREATIONS.
Okay... In case anyone else sees this, don't pick a fight with the angry person above me. Jimin talked about why it's called part 2 on Suchwita, and it's a reference to Yoongi's song. He didn't set out to do a follow up, but noticed the connection and went with it.
The only reason to deny this piece of rather sweet trivia is if you want to spread hate & create conflict. Jimin loves and respects Yoongi, who loves and respects him.
So... Who knows what's going on for this person, but no amount of their aggro can change the (delightful) facts. Jimin made a powerful, personal song and connected it with his friend's earlier song.
@@evantesseract737 Exactly. On Suchwita Jimin even told Yoongi he had considered getting him to contribute to the song, because he felt it was almost a natural progression from it. He decided against it because, as his first solo album, he wanted it to be all his work.
Yoongi said he would have been happy to contribute if asked. Their relationship is so sweet; and Yoongi is always so proud of the other (especially the younger) members achievements and successes.

The way they light up talking about the music they'll make when they reunite... That moment gave me so much hope and joy 💜

I adore how Yoongi's dry humour has Jimin in tears, and almost rolling on the floor with laughter.
Suchwita gave us a wonderful chance to see Yoongi's unique bond with each of the members. But I can't help but think that there is something special about Yoongi and Jimin's bond. And I think it's because, while at first glance they seem so different in their personalities, they are actually very similar.
My first reaction? My jaw literally dropped to the floor when I first saw this MV. Goosebumps on goosebumps all over!

Since you liked his songs so much, I think you should listen to the full album. The triumphant declaration of freedom in Set Me Free pt.2 hits differently after hearing the full journey of struggles he goes through on Face.

This was a shock to us bcoz this was totaly diffrent from all his songs. A solo like performance video with a cussing which he doesnt use in his songs and he went upper body naked. 🔥🔥🔥 and his moon tattoos. Such a banger.

I think he's talking mostly about being free of his old self and of certain mental health problems he had at some point during his career as an artist. He used to be too self conscious about his image and behavior, tried really hard to portray something he wasn't. But now he has worked on it and is more comfortable and happy with himself:)

There is no official video for this one- also, check out “Letter” ( he did a performance video for this one)… Lie and Serendipity are older Jimin songs that are also incredible! Serendipity live performance is so fun to watch!
Love this reaction! 'Set me free' and 'Like crazy' are both part of his first solo album 'FACE'. The whole album is absolutely amazing and tells a really touching story. Jimin said it's about the emotions he felt and experiences he had during the pandemic in chronological order. Some of it is heart breaking, raw and explicit, but also empowering. It contains themes like loneliness, escapism, drinking, ending relationships, getting used by other people, but also breaking free from all of that, him finding himself and becoming a stronger person. I'm so thankful he gave us such an intimate view into himself, and it will always be one of my favourite albums. Here's some information about the songs:
1) Face-off: This song has a lot of anger. Jimin explained that relationships are difficult and hard to maintain. During the pandemic, he broke off with some people because he got to see their true colours and realised, that they only used him for who he is. Unfortunately, he also blamed himself for it, saying he shouldn’t have trusted them. He mentions drinking because he didn't want to be sober to deal with all of it (lyrics: “tonight I don’t wanna be sober, pour it up it’s all fu****g over”). It could also be interpreted as a face-off with himself like trying to get rid of traces he doesn't accept in himself.
2) Like Crazy: Jimin said it's about the time he lost himself in escapism to cope during the pandemic. He didn't realise (or didn't want to accept) he wasn't doing fine and just tried to push back and avoid all the bad emotions and things by going out, having fun, drinking, and staying in this ‘dream reality’ (as you can her in the lyrics "don't try to save me, I wanna stay in this dream”). But at the end of the day, he came back home, being alone again. After that period, he realised he wasn't okay, like "wait, what am I even doing?" and came to the realization he wasn't simply having fun but actually just escaping his problems, loneliness and pain. It's a very sensual song which can be interpreted in many ways. Jimin said it was inspired by one of his favourite movies called 'Like Crazy', which deals with a very realistic break up of a couple.
3) Alone: In ‘Alone’ he realises he wasn’t doing okay before. It’s like finally waking up from that dream. He talks about how lonely he actually feels, and he doesn’t know how and when the pain will end. He’s trying not to show anyone in how much pain he’s in, but he feels pathetic pretending to be fine all the time. Although he says everything will get better, he doesn’t actually believe in it (lyrics: “It’s gonna be alright. Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie …”)
4) Set me free pt. 2: This song is Jimin finally breaking free from all that he suffered from. He’s unapologetically going to be himself now, not caring about what anyone might say. He’s accepting the true face of himself and won’t hide himself anymore, even if it hurts. All hardships have made him a different person, but he won’t forget his past self and is proud of what he has accomplished. Unfortunately, Jimin is one of the members that got the most hate. He had (and still has) to go through many things. This is a very powerful and aggressive way of showing all those people how strong he has become and that he won't listen to them anymore. Even the instrumental is like a hymn, it just sounds so epic and empowering. Jimin finally overcame his hardships and set himself free. (Fun fact: when this song was announced, the producer said that Jimin is going to end K-pop with it. And he really did, it just blew all of our minds.)

Jimin wrote the songs for this album, Face, about how he felt during the pandemic. The othrr guys said they were worried about Jimin because he was drinking more than he used to. He was quite depressed.
When I first heard this, I think it was the first song released from the album. I was shocked by the sound of the song, it was nothing like anything I associated with Jimin. I thought the voices had a very metallic sound, hard, and I was unused to Jimin's lower notes, I had to hear it a few times before I was sure I liked it.
Suga released a completely different song a while ago called Set Me Free, that is why this has been labelled part 2.
Of course I love the dancing.
I remember watching the MV for this and was SO excited for him! After the hardships in BTS' career, his self doubt, and the devastation of the pandemic, this was his anthem of true freedom.
You just really need to deep dive and do his "holy trinity" in one watch: Serendipity, Filter, and Lie. I am not beyond begging for that reaction 💜😊 Thank you!

Once again when it comes to BTS and its members there can be many interpretations for many of their songs. I favor the interpretation of Jimin freeing himself from his own criticism of himself. If you explore their history Jimin was most harsh on himself with self doubt of his talent and skills and always striving to be better by telling himself he needed to work harder and he is not good enough. He struggled with this for many years feeling miserable about himself and that he might hold back BTS. He was the last member to be picked as BTS and had the shortest training period prior to their debut and perhaps this might have contributed to the negative image he had of himself, however, he is a perfectionist when it comes to his performances because he feels that’s what army deserves. I believe all of the members feel the same.
