Watching this video gives me hope. My little girl tore her ACL and vet said surgery because she doesn’t believe the brace works. I have PTSD around surgery as my other dog, the love of my life, was not only misdiagnosed but the vet stitched dead tissue together, my dog went into sepsis shock, emergency vet tried to save him but pre-anesthesia stopped his heart. So I’m still pretty traumatized from that. Thank you for this video. I was in tears watching him at the end after only 60 days!!! I know I’m doing the right thing by going the braces route.
This blesses me to read your comment💚 Max has been doing so well! The older he gets, the stronger that legs gets - he gives Kali a run for her money now😂. I hope it works beautifully for your baby girl💚 i am so thankful for OrthoDog
Your message brings me to tears😭 I feel your pain! I’m so sorry for your loss💔 I know how thankful I am for the cruciate brace - we didn’t have the $5k for the surgery and all I could do was keep Max contained and short walks on a leash. One of the vets that I follow, Dr. Jones (veterinary secrets) pointed me to Ortho Dog - best decision I made for Max😂. Blessings to you and your fur baby💚
OMG! U all are so polite about that traumatic incident. So, I’ll just shut my mouth and say how ANGRY that makes me!! 90% of all interactions we’ve ever had with vets whether it be unnecessary procedures, misdiagnosing, lack of empathy or extravagant pricing makes it VERY difficult (almost impossible) to trust any veterinarians ESPECIALLY BANFIELD (except for Dr. Jones of course. I’m sooo sorry for your loss! I would not have been able to handle that nearly as well but, wish you all the luck in the world for having to go to a vet again!
This gives me so much hope, my rottie torn his acl about 2 months ago. Surgery is around 8k not to mention is an 8 week recovery. My boy is way to active I’m scared to put him through that. I will try this, thank you so much for sharing i’m happy your boy is back to normal❤️
Best of success to your rottie with the brace. I am grateful every time i see Max running without pain 🥰 If you have any questions about the brace or how to fit your pup, the ladies at Ortho Dog are so helpful.
Worked great for our 12 year old shepard/collie mix. Got brace rather than putting her thru surgery that she would have had to be in a cage non-mobile for 12 weeks after surgery. Could see the difference immediately. Highly recommend!!!
wow you gave me hope! my pit Gia tore her ACL and I don't want to get surgery (I had a boxer that had the surgery and it was rough!). My Gia is 55 lbs. her brother who plays rough is 85 lbs so seeing your dogs play un-restricted after 60 days is incredible!
Check out the update video that I posted a week ago of Max and Kali running in the snow😂 We are almost 2 years off the brace (though i will keep it just in case) and i truly am so thankful for Ortho Dog💚 Blessings to you and you Gia
Thank you for producing this video ! JoJo is getting an Ortho Dog knee brace. He is a 2 year old, 65 pound, Amstaff / Pitty mix Getting him to be on "light-duty" for 8+ weeks ?! Good Luck ! We need the Ortho Dog brace ! Thanks again ! Jim New Mexico USA
You are so welcome! It is really difficult to do light duty without a brace, right. I hope JoJo has as good as success as Max has had with his brace. Max gets the opportunity to run around on 5 acres now and you’d never know he had an ACL tear three years ago. Blessings to you and your precious fur baby.💚
Thank you my baby girl tore her ACL last week, but don't want to go the surgery route, I also have PTSD and this really hitting me hard, I'm so glad you posted this video it gives me hope❤️ where is the link
I am so glad that you feel the breath of fresh air. That is how I felt when Dr. Jones connected me with Ortho Dog for Max. I am utterly blessed to have use the product, and it brings me joy to know that Max‘s testimony is helping so many other dogs, blessings to you and your fur baby💚
I will try this for our dogs second CCL tear. But if you have ever torn your own ACL, it is the most excruciating thing. My fear is dogs just hide the pain while the leg heals. He also got very depressed having to be restricted and eventually quit trying to play at all. Say a prayer for Orlando and thank you!
Praying for Orlando💚 All we can do is try to help them, once they experience the relief they seem to accept the brace and rally. Best of success to you and your fur baby💚
I sure hope your vet is open to alternative methods of healing ACL wounds. Best of blessings to you and your pup.. If you have any extensive questions, call them over there at Ortho Dog, they are a wealth of knowledge.💚
Thank you! My 3 1/2 year old Great Pyrenees is 2 days out of TPLO surgery. Horribly hard on the dog. Vet never mentioned a brace and only off handed said the other leg may go out too due to overworking it while healing. Learn thru UA-cam(thank you!) The 2nd leg usually goes out within 1 year! Wish I had found your site 3 months ago. Hopefully we can starve off the 2nd leg for a lot longer. Will be buying that brace. Very glad your fur baby is better and with no surgery. Congrats!
Sad but true! Our old vet didn’t tell us either, he only told us how much😂 I’m very thankful for Dr Jones of Veterinary Secrets. He told me about Ortho Dog - best decision I’ve made for my dogs! Max is doing awesome! Definitely use it for your dog’s other leg. Blessings and thank you for watching 💚
@@mflynnnj1 Max is doing so good, thank you for asking. We now live on 5 acres and he runs the whole property. I have a few shorts updates on my channel for you to see him running in the snow if you’d like. take care.🌻
Now “ this” was an informative video ! Thank you! I might look into this for my female German Shepard ( Stella) who just ripped her right ACL.. and is scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks
Check out the update video I did a week ago with Max and Kali running in the snow. It’s been almost 2 years since he first used the brace. We are now on 5 acres and he gets to explore the whole property. Blessings to you.
@@medydath2881 We were so happy that our vet did not think that surgery for a torn ACL was necessary. He said that about 90% of his patients do not opt for the surgery. But rather allow for it to heal on it's own. Braces are fine, but he didn't even encourage them. Can use some heat or ice every so often, if it seems like an extra rough day for your pup. He said the other vet at the practice, pushes for surgery very hard & 90% of his patients get the surgery. Your healing time may be a while, but just be patient. The healing time from surgery can even be longer sometimes. Our vet said to try & make sure the dog isn't overdoing it, but there weren't really any restrictions.
I LOVE your pitties/pit mixes! I am trying a brace myself for my dog (also a pittie). I can’t wait to see how she does. Vet told me it would be $3-5K for surgery. 😮 We are literally on Day 1.
Hang in there, do your homework before you commit to surgery or just any brace. Talk to the companies that are putting out these braces as well. I know in my experience that ortho dog goes the extra mile and their product is quality. I hope the best for your pittie💚 I still pinch myself at how well Max has done. Pitties are high-octane, and when they run, they go all out😂 . I wish I knew about ortho dog with my old pit Dakota, he tore his ACL around one year old. The vet only gave us the option of surgery, when I told him we didn’t have the money for a $5000 surgery. He told me I could walk him around for two months on a leash and keep him confined, so I did that. He never quite healed 100% and it took many months of him being confined to get him walking somewhat well🤪. Ortho Dog has been a total game changer for Max, and me lol.
It was such a positive reaction actually seeing Max’s leg getting stronger - I thought for sure he was going to have to have surgery. He would have needed a few months of post surgery recovery time anyways if he went under the knife, so trying this first was a total win win. The cruciate brace will always be a part of my doggie first-aid kit🐶💚 Thank you for watching it Kel💚
Just got mine in today and my pup likes it because she can put a little more weight on the leg without as much pain. We are going to take it slow for for 60 days and see where she’s at. She also will be get PLPO injections once a month which have had good results for others.
Right on! Isn’t it a blessing to see them experience the relief, even when the brace is new to them💚 Best of success to you and your pup💚 I have posted some shorts showing how good Max is doing after 3 years, in case you need encouragement 💚
How did it turn out for you? I'm about to buy it. The same thing happened to mine while running. I don't know what to do. My dog is 8 years old and I want her to be as comfortable as possible and I don't want the same thing to happen to her right leg. , I'm worried and sleepless. Can you recommend something to me, I'm not comfortable seeing her like this.
My 140lb gsd tire her CCL. She's too big for surgery at $10,000 with the other leg needed done in two years at 30 percent chance of success. I used water therapy and pain meds. But I'm definitely interested in a brace. Here in Canada my vet estimate her brace would be $1800.00. with $800 of that being to sedation for measuring. So thank you for this.
You are so welcome 💚 Please be sure to call them at Ortho Dog if you have any questions, they are so willing to help. They want your dog to be helped, that is their heart💚 Blessings to you and your fur baby💚

Can you recommend something to me, I'm not comfortable seeing her like this :(
Glad the pup healed. But wow 60 days doesn’t seem like enough to heal the ligament tear. Even the vet endorsing this brace said 4-6 months in his PT video wearing the brace.
He wasn’t completely healed in 60 days, he had the brace on for 2 months and began getting better, i also kept him from overdoing it for at least another six months after that. I would see him doing better and then he would run and start limping again. Because of the few relapses that i have mentioned i kept him from more confined. This is my dog’s experience and the point of the video was to share what helped him.
My max tore his ACL and we got this same brace. He wasnt liking this brace at all. Trying to get fitment correct has been a pain in the A. I guess we need to keep trying at it and keep trying to get him to like it better.
Hello Anne, awesome news! Ok, I am starting to think we all have PTSD or maybe just people who have dogs, and that's why we love them so much. Yes, I had a breakdown for the last week with my 12-pound poodle ACL tear. Sad a sacry. The vet said I could give it some time with ant-inflammatories and a small amount of anti-anxiety Tramadaol I give it to her just to keep her slower and resting more, she is very active. I dodnt believse we should just make them so out of it and not moving at all and depressed no one heals like that but it does depend on how healthy and how much pain they are in all dogs are different. Can I please ask if my baby is a small dog I didn't see many like that on here. Is this still good for them and is it hard to get the right fit for these? The measurements on the website of Orthos seem a bit complicated did it come right the first time it isnot cheap so I want to do it right. Thank you Love all you do and who you are as a person! xxxooo Ava God heals all!
Max’s brace came to us correct, if you have any worries, please call them at ortho dog, they are so helpful. Yes they are designed for small dogs as well. I wish I knew about them when I had my pug. He did not have an ACL issue, but he had hip dysplasia and they have some products for that. I pray many blessings for your little fur baby💚 I totally agree, as fur parents we love our babies so much that we want to help them and cause them as little pain as possible. It’s very difficult when they can’t tell us exactly what their pain level is or where it hurts 💚.
Can we a 2 year update How he doing ? Is he still wearing the brace? It is helping him Is it helping him not put as much pressure? Can he poop with it on or do you have to take it off anytime he wants to ?
Thank you for the wonderful questions, I have a two year video update in my UA-cam shorts. We are on year three and I will be doing another update in honor of year three, 🥳 Yes, you do leave the brace on while they poop. When Max would wake up in the morning I would put the brace on, then let him out to go to the bathroom. The brace stays on all day long and comes off at night when it’s time for bed. Currently, Max is not wearing the brace, he has not needed it for over 2 years. There was a slight adjustment time when he was on the road to recovery doing really good, he was running up and down the fence line with our neighbor’s dog and that evening he started limping again, I freaked out! I put the brace back on him for about a week and i made an asserted effort not to let him overdo it. We now live on 5 acres and he has full access to run the property and he is doing great. I still keep an eye on him to make sure he is not overdoing it - I think I will always be on watch after this experience. I keep the brace on hand just in case he needs it, because it has been such a lifesaver to my dog. Thank you for watching my video and for your great questions. Blessings.
How has your dog been since this video? Our American bully tore her CCL and has surgery scheduled but we are considering canceling and trying the brace Thank you for your video
He is doing so well - it’s been 3 years now, I’m on 5 acres now and Max patrols the whole property. He runs with his sister at full speed. I have an update short that I did last year ua-cam.com/users/shorts8pcce0RB75c?si=qn_r8z9UoMruVu-D and will continue to update each year. Blessings to you and your pup💚
I’m so happy to hear that! We just canceled Aspens surgery and are going to try the ortho brace and rehab her ourselves. We wish you and your pups all the best too! 💛
Well ours arrived ups in 3 days from America, I’m in Ontario Canada. We have a 95 pound Doberman with torn ccl. Can’t afford 8000$ price up here for surgery so we are trying to do what we can. Thank you for your information.
I want you to know how much it has helped Max. 😂 I have tears of joy watching him able to run pain free now. I sure hope it helps your Dobe💚 Stick to it and give the brace a chance to work - they look uncomfortable at first, but they adjust and the end result is so worth it. And don’t hesitate to use it in the future if you see your dog favoring that leg again. Max had to use it again for about a week, six months after the first time, but it’s been about a year and he hasn’t needed to put it on again - and he runs like crazy with his sister. The staff at Ortho Dog is awesome if you have any questions. Many Blessings🐾
@@chantalveal6629 long story short. Not very happy overall. Takes a while to put it on him and get it adjusted , I measured my dog and they contacted me after I placed order to tell me they are changing the size of something. So we get the ki and the main harness looks like it’s for a little dog! Like a medium dog, not a dobe. They have a stupid policy in place that you can’t return anything for any reason because…c o v i d ? 🤬 so my dog had harness on for about and hour outside one day while I was working, he sat down and when he tried to get up the back strap had slid down and so did a leg brace that caused him to fall over! I took that off so fast and was gonna burn it! It’s been over 3 months and he’s using the leg again all the time. He is still leashed outside and no stairs or running or jumping is still in effect. I work all day so I’m not home to babysit my dog and not going to leave that contraption on him. If you are around the dog 24/7 to watch he doesn’t get hurt wearing all that stuff, and if ortho dog can size your kit for you properly, you might be happy.
Hi, Ann, hope you see this message... I was encouraged by your video, I ordered this product too. How long after his injury injury did you start using the brace? And how long you allow him to walk with the brace every day?
Great question! We first went to the vet and he did x-rays and said it would be $5000+ so that took out a good week. During that time I started researching and found Dr. Jones of @veterinarysecrets I asked if there was any kind of alternative solution to fixing the ACL… 10 yrs before Max, I had another pitbull that tore his ACL and my vet basically told me the same thing $5000 surgery but I asked him what can we do that doesn’t cost that much and he said I could keep him confined for at least two months and it might work but not hopeful. That is what I did BUT I wish I had a Cruciate brace, it would have made my other dogs healing so much more complete. Back to Dr. Jones… He recommended trying a Cruciate brace and recommended a few different companies, one of them was a OrthoDog. I was so impressed with how they helped me and gave me hope that Max could be better with this brace. Best decision I ever made for my dog. Max was probably without a brace for about a month, by the time all vet visits were done, research completed and brace ordered. I was keeping him confined, walking him on a leash, which was so difficult because he has a lot of energy, not to mention a sibling that wanted to run with him. I would have Max wear that brace from the moment he woke till bed time, because I knew it would be a setback if he took off running without it. And actually we had a setback around the 2 month mark. He was doing so good with it on that I started leaving it off more often and he started going buck wild because he was feeling better. He overdid it, I saw him limping again and put that brace back on for another 2 months. Your pup will feel awkward at first, press on through, it will make all the difference and will get used to it. Doesn’t mean he/she will love it😂 but will get used to it and receive relief from it. Blessings to you and your pup through this healing process💚 BTW I do have a few updates on how well Max has been doing, the most recent was from last year, two years after we use the brace. I’m getting ready to do a three-year update as well.
Hello Ann Thank you so much for the video. I have an 8 year old black lab also named Max. So I had the Vet surgery estimate last week and with the xrays its over 5000 as you said. I have a few questions I would like to ask you about this brace and the results if I could not sure how I can contact you... Pete
My Pitty tore his CCL last week. I've been looking into everything to help him, we cannot afford surgery. But he is also 11 and we dont want to keep putting him asleep for surgeries. He has had mass cell tumors removed a few times and I just am fearful of putting him under anesthesia too many times at his age. We saw you video and we are going to buy this brace and do home therapy once his leg is a little more stabilized. My question is has anyone purchased the brace for both legs with one leg tear just to be safe? I am hearing about 60% of dogs tear the other side. The brace is pricey but we want to make sure we buy the correct set up. Should we get both braces or just one with the anchor?
Great question! I can totally understand why you wouldn’t want to put your dog through another surgery, especially at his age. Surgery is very hard on them even when they are young. I don’t think people realize that their dog will still have to keep pressure off of an operated on leg, which could cause a good leg to get injured. What I would do is, I would call Ortho Dog directly and talk to them about any of your concerns, your pup’s age, and if they can put braces on both legs or if it’s even necessary, they are so wonderful there. It’s a definite concern about hurting the good leg by overcompensating for the injured leg. Before we got the brace, I was concerned that Max was going to injure the other leg, because he would hop along on his good leg, because it hurt too bad to put pressure on his bad leg. Since using the brace, it gave him the ability to stand on both legs while alleviating pressure from the ACL. I know people feel bad for their dogs when they first put the brace on because the dog doesn’t want the brace on lol, but give it an adjustment time and then you’ll see the magic happen. When they suddenly realize their leg does not hurt so bad with the brace on, they start working with it. We as pet parents have to stay consistent and put it on them, because they can have good results if we give it a chance to aid in their healing. I felt bad for Max when he was standing there, looking totally mournful and not understanding what I did to him by putting this brace on him lol, but it paid off. In my shorts you can see a two-year update on how good he’s doing. He is on year three after brace therapy and he is doing remarkable, I will do another update soon. Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it.
Well we tried the equine tape and it was not a better solution, but i am glad it worked for you. It did not provide the suspension of the pressure off the knee like the brace did.
Hey Ann! I loved your video and your other content and subscribed right away! I really appreciate this information and it has giving me so much hope for my doggie Thankyou so much!! I was wondering did you happen to give your dogo any supplements along with the leg brace?? :) if so I was going to ask what kind you would recommend ^^
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words and am so glad that you enjoy my content💚 Regarding supplements, I actually started making homemade bone broth and adding it to his food - it has a lot of wonderful benefits for our pups (and ourselves - and can help with osteoarthritis) the reason I did this is because it provides glucosamine, collagen, glycine and chondroitin which are good for the joints, ligaments, cartilage and tendons - plus they love it - it’s a win win. Blessings to you 💚
He would have it on all day long. I would take it off at night after his last potty break and put it back on before he would go out in the morning. I hope this helps💚
they don't make one small enough for my mini yorkie. he had one surgery that they said failed "because he must have done something". I followed the treatment plan, the poor guy spends far too much time in a crate, lots of time on my lap, walks on leash and his 7 week check up, they tell me there's too much "play" in the joint and it needs to be redone. I'm going to be conservative, follow nutritional advice, cbd and dmso. passive movement, massage and when weather warms up I'll get a pool deep enough for the little guy to swim in . I can put nice warm water in it from the kitchen sink and hose.
Did you call OrthoDog to see if they make custom fits? Or if they know of another company that specializes in mini dogs. Poor fur baby, it sounds like you are taking great precautions. I hope the best for you and your mini💚
He was on his pain pills for about a week and a half after, once i started noticing Max getting around really well with the brace on I started giving his pill less often till he didn’t need them any more. I still have some left😂. Be careful to not let your dog overdo it when your fur baby starts feeling better, so they don’t reinjure the leg prematurely - Max did it once. I keep the brace with my doggy first aid kit just in case we ever need it. I’m so glad this video helped - check out some of my update videos on Max - I just posted one of him running in the snow last week☃️
Omg I just discovered Dr. Jones videos right before I found tour video! Thank you so much! My 3 year old boxer injured his leg before and we had x-rays done and all that then he was ok. A few weeks ago he hurt his leg again and I can tell this time he’ll be needing a brace. 🙁 I feel better with the new hope this brace could help him without surgery. 🙏🏾😊
Dr Jones is awesome 💚 I hope you were able to try him with the brace. I am so blessed that i tried it with Max - he is doing so well💚 Blessings to your fur baby.
Max wore the brace from the time that he woke up in the morning till the time he went to bed at night. I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear enough in the video.
But not for shoulders even though some docs are claiming it does. Wife had double frozen shoulders, doc injected left and it took longer to heal naturally. Docs always push surgery but time was the answer.
What was that blue rapping in the beginning.... I feel like it was just a prop to make him look sick. I really hope you made this video as a genuine review with genuine results instead of a way to sell an affiliate link
Oh my goodness - That was equine adhesive bandage that I wrapped around jokingly “under wraps” so to speak is what I said. It was a visualization of trying to keep Max down for 2 months while he healed. And yes Max really did tear his ACL three years ago. I have added update videos of his progress as well. I truly am thankful for Ortho Dog, they have helped Max tremendously.
Awesome! Think I have to get one. This little Velcro thing we got for my old senior chi mix boy ain’t working nor does it stay on. So lovely to see his full recovery !❤️🩹 thanks for sharing this
Yes, as soon as he woke up and I took it off right when he went to sleep for the night. It’s such a short period that they have to wear it for the great results that can happen. Every day that i see Max run across my 5 acres I am so grateful for the cruciate brace💚 he is now 3 years healed! I do have a few shorts showing how he was doing at 2 years healed if you want to see them💚 Blessings to you and your dog.
There’s a lot better brace from Animal Ortho Care. It’s custom fitted and hinged. Worked Miracles for our setter. Her CCL was completely torn and 6 m later you would never know it
Thanks for the info. I have a pit bull that tore her acl last year. With proper meds, she was back to walking on all 4 legs. But here lately, there has been a few times she struggled. Like getting up and taking off. Still walked on all 4s, but if she lays on a hard surface it acts like it stiffens. Then she will get to moving and be fine. Does this sound familiar? Please inform. I love my dog, and hate seeing her struggle.
It totally sounds familiar 💚 Max can still get a bit stiff if he over does while running with his sister. The brace has literally made so much of a difference for him. The only time i reuse it is if i notice him going into tripod mode, which actually, he hasn’t had a flair up in almost a year. I hope this helps your pitty - they truly are remarkable dogs!
These meds I give her twice daily; morning and night. They are: gabapentin 300mg, glucosamine with chondroitin, and carprofen with is an anti inflammatory.
How did it turn out for you? I'm about to buy it. The same thing happened to mine while running. I don't know what to do. The operation is very expensive, 3,500 to 5,000 and my dog is 8 years old and I want her to be as comfortable as possible and I don't want the same thing to happen to her right leg. , I'm worried and sleepless. What can you recommend to me based on your experience? I have also seen some negative comments about the product. I don't know if it would really be good. I want it for both legs and it costs 535.00 to avoid the same thing with the right. The other product I was looking at was goherogo but just for one leg it is almost 2,000 dollars. Can you recommend something to me, I'm not comfortable seeing her like this :(
I totally understand your concern, you just want the best for your baby. Here is a video short I did showing two years later. We are now on 5 acres and Max has full roaming on it. I will do another video this year showing 3 years later - I am totally appreciative if Ortho Dog for how they helped my Max🥹 I don’t know about other products, I’m sorry. ua-cam.com/users/shorts8pcce0RB75c?si=JGaIyQpT1Bsr0NPp best of blessings to you and your fur baby💚 Remember you can always call them at Ortho Dog and they will help you, they are awesome.
How tight did you pull the straps? I just ordered the brace and my dog is walking so slowly and very oddly! I'm wondering if I have them too tight... I just don't want it to fall off.
Your dog will walk kind of strange in the beginning till they are used to it. Max looked mournful in the beginning 😂. The key is having it tight enough to support the knee. You want the pressure off that knee. Give Ortho Dog a call, their staff is so helpful to make sure your dog is fitted correctly 💚 Your pup will get used to it if you give it a chance and the results are so worth it. Blessings 🌻
I am trying this brace out day one, and having a bit of trouble. It seems like I have it sized fitted properly, even though it seems to have too much extra strapping. She got a large, and I'm confident the medium will seem too small. The problem I'm having is when she sits down. The leg brace and anchor slide down to her ankles when she sits down. Standing up, it seems stable and well fit. But as soon as she sits, the braces slide down here legs. Is this a problem you had, and one I can work around?
I had to work with it a bit to get the fit just right in the beginning. Make sure the straps that come down from the back pad are even and secure enough so it doesn’t slide when she lays down and supports the knee - not too tight though - aim for comfort and support. They were very helpful at OrthoDog as well if you are having placement issues. Don’t give up on it, keep reading over the placement instructions - it’s so worth it. I hope your dog has great success with it like Max has had. Also, hang on to it after she’s doing better, in case she re-injures it, it is invaluable 💚 Blessings to you and your fur baby!
No it’s for one or the other. They do have a number of products. One that comes to mind is the Hip Hound Brace for dogs with arthritis or dysplasia. It’s for supporting both hips. It’s different then the cruciate brace though - which is for acl issues. Blessings!
I mentioned in the video I take it off of Max right before bed (after his last bathroom break) and I put it back on him Before he went out in the morning. Great question
Yep, Max had his brace on all day. I made sure I put it on before he went outside first thing in the morning and took it off at bedtime, after his last potty time at night💚 Thank you for the question and for watching 💚
When it first happened it was on 24/7, but towards the end of him wearing it, when I noticed him not limping as much i took it off at night and bath time. I’ve only had to put it back on him twice since when he first hurt his acl. I always keep it on hand just in case. I am so thankful for this brace. Blessings to you!
Definitely, when he first tore it. Because of the injury, the pain is made worse through swelling. The pain relief often times can have anti-inflammatory properties to help the pain lessen and help the body to try and heal, but as we know with a torn ACL, the only healing is going to come from them being off of it, which is virtually impossible without the aid of a brace. I also utilized a dog grade cbd to help with the pain and inflammation💚

Max only wore it 24/7 for about 3 weeks or so in the beginning. Once he was able to get around without limping I removed it. I tried removing it at night in the very beginning and found he would get the zoomies only to re-injure it. I stayed committed and he got stronger - when I noticed him consistently not limping I took it off at night and put it back on first thing in the morning - then one day I left it off all day and he did great - during that time I controlled how much space he had to run so he wouldn’t overdue it and now he cruises our whole 1/2 acre! We did have a minor relapse a year later where he wore it again for a week, I almost think it helped him to know how to protect his leg (my observation - not an ortho dog statement). He now runs (like in the video here) and has been fine. The key is be very diligent in the beginning to leave it on, pay attention if you see your dog favoring that leg again and use it again if need be. And always keep it handy just in case. Blessings to you and great success to your fur baby💚
So sad that it didn’t help your dog- all I can share is how effective and successful our experience was. Blessings and I hope you have great success with other product.
Hi, Ive been using the Orthodog for a couple weeks now and still struggling with adjustments and giving up hope. Did the Bionic Pets brace work for you? Thank you for any feedback you can give.
I would take it off at night and put it on him first thing in the morning before he would go outside. Max hasn’t had to wear it for over 2 years now. He is doing so good💚 Blessings to you and your pup.
Our old pitbull tore his ACL running down the stairs while slipping on the laminate floors at the bottom of the landing- I wish I knew about the Cruciate brace then. That’s why when it happened to Max and Dr Jones told me about it I had to share it💚 Thanks for the comment
Did your dog tear its ACL? If you opt for the surgery, keep in mind that your dog will have to be confined for many weeks while it’s healing. at least with the brace they can still walk around andrun once they’re comfortable with it. In my video you can see Max running with the cruciate brace. He didn’t like it in the beginning, but I think the relief he received from the Brace made all the difference and he excepted it.
Max is now three years post brace without surgery. He is doing wonderful. Ortho Dog’s Brace is very well-made, their staff is very supportive to answer any questions and help with fitting, I have seen it work firsthand with my dog and he is a powerhouse. He loves to run with his sister over our 5 acres. He also loves running up and down the fence with our neighbors dogs. I always worry that he will re-injure it but he has been fine for three years, I think the brace helped him to know how to run on it properly. That’s just my opinion though. Blessings 🌻
Max wore the brace from the time he woke up in the morning until the time he went to bed. I took the brace off of him to sleep. Keep in mind it takes one slip up of them running too hard without the brace while they’re healing to set you back, so stay diligent with putting it on before they go potty in the morning and after they go potty to go to bed. Blessings to you.🌻
Yes my dog Max tried this brace, and that is what the video is all about. I wanted to share our positive experience with the Ortho Dog Cruciate brace. Blessings
The vet mainly said it was a torn ACL. I am asking Ortho Dog if the cruciate brace will help with that as well. Give me a couple days, or if you want to call them directly they are so helpful. I am getting ready to post a short video of Max running in the snow! As you can tell I am forever grateful to OD for that😂
@@OrganicallyAnn My boy is going to need the surgery. We ordered from gohero bc OD didn’t have our measurements. Congrats Max!! So happy for your healing leg!! Hugs from Oregon! ❤️🌹
Yes, per Ortho Dog: the Cruciate Care Knee Brace will help hold the meniscus tendon in place and support the leg during healing. If you have any other questions, Ortho Dog will be glad to help you get the right size for your pup.
Wish the return policy was better. Far too expensive without being able to test it out. “You can return the product you do not want as long as it is in perfect condition, without traces of hair, odors, dirt or signs of use.” Kind of ridiculous.
How long did your dog use it? Dogs (and owners need to get used to it - it’s trying to correct a jacked up ACL - a very serious injury. My dog didn’t want to wear it, but I saw his progress. I had to endure his discomfort of having to wear a brace that slowed him down, until I was able to see him relying on the brace - the brace was supporting the stressed knee and Max went with it. I am thankful I kept it and keep it handy in case any of my dogs injure their ACLs. Bummer it didn’t work for your fur baby
How many times did you try to get her used to it? Sounds like it wasn’t fitted properly to her. Max was able to lay down with his on. It took a bit of time for him to get more comfortable with it, and for me, because I would feel bad for him when he was not wanting to wear it, but we powered through and it has truly made all of the difference. Naturally, it will be foreign to them at first. That’s sad that it didn’t work for your dog, did you end up having to d surgery?
@@OrganicallyAnn respectfully ma’am, this is the most overpriced scam of a product I have ever seen. Even the harness is low quality and is fraying all over. I’m honestly happy it is working for some dogs but 400 dollars for the quality is absurd. Hell I’m happy for the company for getting their money but atleast provide a quality harness.
Thanks for the update, Ann! Glad Max has fully healed and is back to his old happy self.
And thank you Doc - I really appreciate all you do💚
Watching this video gives me hope.
How very sad. My heart goes out to you....
@@haliburton5493 Thank you ❤️
Have you tried it? How is it working for him?
Worked great for our 12 year old shepard/collie mix. Got brace rather than putting her thru surgery that she would have had to be in a cage non-mobile for 12 weeks after surgery. Could see the difference immediately. Highly recommend!!!
Thanks for sharing this💚 I’m so glad it helped your dog!
Hi Jeff, how is your dog's leg now?
wow you gave me hope! my pit Gia tore her ACL and I don't want to get surgery (I had a boxer that had the surgery and it was rough!). My Gia is 55 lbs. her brother who plays rough is 85 lbs so seeing your dogs play un-restricted after 60 days is incredible!
Best of success to Gia. Thank you so much for watching 💚
He is a 2 year old, 65 pound, Amstaff / Pitty mix
Getting him to be on "light-duty" for 8+ weeks ?! Good Luck !
We need the Ortho Dog brace !
Thanks again !

Max is soo cute in that wrap.
He is huh💚 thank you
Thank you thank you just got a fresh breath of air 🙏🏾🤞🏽
Got a gsp and we think he just did the same thing, gave him a week & going th the vet 10-2-23 will ask about one of these. Thanks for your video.
I'm in the same boat with my own young Pyranees. Researching different braces and physical therapies.

@@roddywilliams9957 Awesome! Did you wind up using the brace? How is your dog doing now?
Hi my dog just got ACL i will try this really don't want the surgery for my baby pup thank for the wonderful information.
Thank you... wish we could have seen your dog get up ad down with the brace.
I’m sorry that wasn’t included in the video.
So glad you found something that is help your furbaby!
Thank you for sharing your experience!! I just ordered one for my ( almost) 5 year year old rottie. I appreciate videos like this!
You are so welcome! Blessings to you and your fur baby💚
I have a 7 year old rottie that tore their cruciate recently. How did the brace work for your rottie??
One more thing Dr. Jones with @veterinarysecrets is out of Canada, he’s a great resource to have, and he is the one that referred me to ortho dog.
How did it turn out for you? I'm about to buy it. The same thing happened to mine while running. I don't know what to do. The operation is very expensive, 5,000 and my dog is 8 years old and I want her to be as comfortable as possible and I don't want the same thing to happen to her right leg. , I'm worried and sleepless. What can you recommend to me based on your experience? I have also seen some negative comments about the product. I don't know if it would really be good. I want it for both legs and it costs 535.00 to avoid the same thing with the right. The other product I was looking at was goherogo but just for one leg it is almost 2,000 dollars.
Can you recommend something to me, I'm not comfortable seeing her like this :(
Glad the pup healed.
I don’t know if he will ever like it😂, but he will get used to it and have relief from it, be consistent with it. I will do a fitting video soon💚

Thank you for this video. I am considering trying it for my Lab/Pit Georgia.
I hope it helps💚 thank you for watching, I really appreciate it 💚
Can we a 2 year update
How he doing ?
Is he still wearing the brace?
It is helping him
Is it helping him not put as much pressure?
Can he poop with it on or do you have to take it off anytime he wants to ?
Thank you for the wonderful questions, I have a two year video update in my UA-cam shorts. We are on year three and I will be doing another update in honor of year three, 🥳
Yes, you do leave the brace on while they poop.
Our American bully tore her CCL and has surgery scheduled but we are considering canceling and trying the brace

It really is stressful especially when some vets won’t give alternatives. I hope your fur baby is doing better💚
We did the brace too.
How is your dog doing with the brace?
Hey there I also have a Doberman and trying out this brace. It’s been about a few days. How was your dog making out?
Just ordered the orthodog brace for the ccl/acl injury. Wish Calley and me luck.
Best of luck to you and Calley💚 It has been such a game changer for Max. Thank you so much for watching💚
Hi, how is your dog doing now?
Hello, how is your dog doing now?
@@richy5rich Max is still doing wonderful, thank you for asking. He patrols our 5 acres without missing a beat. .
@@mflynnnj1 Max is doing wonderful💚 Thank you for asking.
Jones of @veterinarysecrets I asked if there was any kind of alternative solution to fixing the ACL…
10 yrs before Max, I had another pitbull that tore his ACL and my vet basically told me the same thing $5000 surgery but I asked him what can we do that doesn’t cost that much and he said I could keep him confined for at least two months and it might work but not hopeful.
Pete
I’d be glad to answer your questions. You can DM me on Instagram if you’d like.
I love dr jones!!!❤😊
Me toooo💚
After a lot of research, I've decided that equine/canine kinesiology tape is a more dynamic and comfortable solution.
Blessings to you 💚
Thank you for sharing this! Did you leave the brace on all the time starting out or just when you had him out walking?
How long was your dog on pain meds after he started using the brace? Thanks for the video, this is really helpful.
How is your dog doing now?
Did it work?
Dr Jones is awesome 💚 I hope you were able to try him with the brace. I am so blessed that i tried it with Max - he is doing so well💚 Blessings to your fur baby.
Max is doing great! We now live on 5 acres and he patrols the whole property without a problem - thank you for asking💚
It worked for Max 100% Thank you for asking💚
How long did he have to wear it for, all day or just when going outside ? That wasn’t clear in your video. Thank you !
Max wore the brace from the time that he woke up in the morning till the time he went to bed at night. I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear enough in the video.
Thanks!!
You are so welcome 💚
Prolotherapy works for knee injuries in animals and humans. Affordable and very little downtime.
Thank you - I will check into it🌼
But not for shoulders even though some docs are claiming it does.
Oh! Okay good! I was wondering lol! So glad to hear your doggy really did benefit! Thank you for clarifying and sharing ❤
Awesome! Think I have to get one. This little Velcro thing we got for my old senior chi mix boy ain’t working nor does it stay on. So lovely to see his full recovery !❤️🩹 thanks for sharing this
It is so worth it! I hope you have great success with it for your boy💚
Did your dog wear this constantly besides when asleep?
Yes, as soon as he woke up and I took it off right when he went to sleep for the night. It’s such a short period that they have to wear it for the great results that can happen. Every day that i see Max run across my 5 acres I am so grateful for the cruciate brace💚 he is now 3 years healed! I do have a few shorts showing how he was doing at 2 years healed if you want to see them💚 Blessings to you and your dog.
Thanks for the tip
You are welcome 🙏🏽
There’s a lot better brace from Animal Ortho Care. It’s custom fitted and hinged. Worked Miracles for our setter. Her CCL was completely torn and 6 m later you would never know it
How long did your dig wear it and how long each day
I’m sure there are all kinds of other products out there but Ortho Dog is what I used for my dog and what gave him success.
Proper meds? What medicines were your dog put on?
These meds I give her twice daily; morning and night. They are: gabapentin 300mg, glucosamine with chondroitin, and carprofen with is an anti inflammatory.
Great job!!!
Thank you. And thank you for watching.
Is this a brace for both hind legs
No it’s for one or the other. They do have a number of products. One that comes to mind is the Hip Hound Brace for dogs with arthritis or dysplasia. It’s for supporting both hips. It’s different then the cruciate brace though - which is for acl issues. Blessings!
So you had to leave the brace on 24/7 for 60 days?? That’s what I get from the video.
I mentioned in the video I take it off of Max right before bed (after his last bathroom break) and I put it back on him Before he went out in the morning. Great question
@@OrganicallyAnn ok thank you!! I watched it twice and didn’t catch it either times 🤦
do you keep it on all day and just take it off at night?
Yep, Max had his brace on all day. I made sure I put it on before he went outside first thing in the morning and took it off at bedtime, after his last potty time at night💚 Thank you for the question and for watching 💚
Just ordered
I hope your fur baby has great success with it🌼
Did it work?
Do you just leave the brace on for the entire time? Take it off to sleep?
When it first happened it was on 24/7, but towards the end of him wearing it, when I noticed him not limping as much i took it off at night and bath time. I’ve only had to put it back on him twice since when he first hurt his acl. I always keep it on hand just in case. I am so thankful for this brace. Blessings to you!
Did you also use medications?
Definitely, when he first tore it. Because of the injury, the pain is made worse through swelling. The pain relief often times can have anti-inflammatory properties to help the pain lessen and help the body to try and heal, but as we know with a torn ACL, the only healing is going to come from them being off of it, which is virtually impossible without the aid of a brace. I also utilized a dog grade cbd to help with the pain and inflammation💚
@@OrganicallyAnn what dog grade cbd did you use?

Is he a Cane Corso? I have a Cane Corso that just got a APL injury.
No he’s a Pitbull💚
Is max wearing the brace 24-7 or only a certain times a day. I have the same problem with my dog and recently got the same knee brace.
Did he have a partial tear or complete tear?
He had a partial tear.
I bought that brace but didn't work for my dog. I ended up getting the Bionic Pets.
I'm thinking of getting this for my dog but don't know if i can use it on a Left leg or can you use it on the right leg to that's my concern
It’s specifically fitted for one leg, left or right. You can order the other side but it is not included
They have them for both right and left legs🌻
Do you keep the brace on, or do you take it off every night?
I would take it off at night and put it on him first thing in the morning before he would go outside. Max hasn’t had to wear it for over 2 years now. He is doing so good💚 Blessings to you and your pup.
How badly torn was his acl do you know? did you get xrays?
Yes, we got x-rays and it was a bad tear.
everybody watching this video: "why didn't I see this video before I paid for the surgery ?!"
Our old pitbull tore his ACL running down the stairs while slipping on the laminate floors at the bottom of the landing- I wish I knew about the Cruciate brace then. That’s why when it happened to Max and Dr Jones told me about it I had to share it💚 Thanks for the comment
Ugh my guy will freak out wearing one 😰
Did your dog tear its ACL? If you opt for the surgery, keep in mind that your dog will have to be confined for many weeks while it’s healing. at least with the brace they can still walk around andrun once they’re comfortable with it. In my video you can see Max running with the cruciate brace. He didn’t like it in the beginning, but I think the relief he received from the Brace made all the difference and he excepted it.
Was that his right leg or left leg ??
He tore his left leg
Please can someone send me the link

how long do u keep the him in the brace daily?
my poor lab just tore her acl and looking for brace tips!!
Hi, did you try this brace?
Blessings
I have a question where did you order the knee brace
I ordered it through Ortho Dog: orthodog.com/article/dog-stifle-brace/ref/10/ They are so helpful💚 Blessings
Did your dog have a meniscus tear also?
I’m so sorry to hear that. Blessings to your sweet baby angel💚
LEFT leg injury.
Yep his left leg🌻
What size did you use?
For Max I had to do the measurements that they have on line and they recommend a size. I believe he was a large
Wish the return policy was better. Far too expensive without being able to test it out. “You can return the product you do not want as long as it is in perfect condition, without traces of hair, odors, dirt or signs of use.”
Kind of ridiculous.
Didn’t work for our dog. She’d just lay down and it would come off. Pain in the butt to put on. Wish I had that $400 back
How many times did you try to get her used to it?
Thank you!
You are so welcome💚
