Well, they do allowed. If not then don't shop at these airport stores. So if I make several purchases from these airport stores and a meal togo and eat on the plane, they will not take it away. I always board with an extra bag from airport stores. It's only fair to allow it onboard.

@luzvaldes1030 I agree with you. These plastic bags are for legitimate purchases from airport stores. That is why they are allowed as an extra bag. Even though many airport stores are expensive I do purchase things from the airport and I don't want to be penalized.
If everyone didn’t run to the internet to tell every little thing that’s supposed to be a “hack”, no one would know & no one would complain… now look- even everyday people are complaining; so the airlines will soon shut this down- thanks big mouth internet! 😤😤

While I agree with what you're saying in theory, in practice, for winter travel, it can be really tough to travel personal item only - I've had some airlines that don't object to my stashing all my outerwear in a shopping bag (you know, the strip once you reach the airport) and I've had some where I've had to keep all of it on at the gate until thru boarding 🙄
@@j.kristineemmons not exactly sure what you meant by that comment but if you mean it's more expensive to ship than pay for checked luggage then I have to disagree. Sometimes checked luggage is complementary but if not then I've always found shipping to be cheaper. If you mean it's safer to check luggage than ship it then I have to disagree there too, especially with the rising stats of luggage loss/theft. (I've even successfully shipped from places like Turkey and Asia). If you mean that shipping to your holiday destination can be more complicated than it's worth, there I have to agree with you. Looked seriously into this once, then dismissed it. Can maybe see the value if you're planning to live overseas for 6mths or more, but otherwise no.
Sometimes I am using plastic bags from duty free for some of my clothes of souvenirs if I bought too many to fit in my backpack/suitcase - it was great to travel with big wall calendar I couldn't fit into suitcase (I was "sure" it would fit in while buying it as a gift). Just remember they are often made from shitty material and can break easily (in Lisbon handle broke because of the weight of things I actually bought in duty free.... apparently two wine bottles was too much - I re-packed them into my cloth bag as soon as I was behind gates o.O). As long as it doesn't seem like you try to bring your all life-long belongings it should be ok. If you look suspicious there is a chance that gate agent will check your bags
Leave the plastic bag on a chair or somewhere near. Then once the gate attendants and security are too busy investigating this unattended item, slip by unnoticed 😂
I don't get it. How can you go through any gates -what gates - without being noticed? It was 20 years ago when they didn't check your boarding pass at the boarding gate: you definitely cannot leave your bag, go through the gate and then sneak back to get it and slip in again. IT'S JUST NOT POSSIBLE!
They are saying the plastic bag is their carry-on, so it will fit well under their seat & the other is in the upper stow away. It's not dangerous even if every single person did this
@@shinzo6037 My sister is a pilot, and I'm an Engineer, I can assure you there is absolutely no danger in terms of weight, not even close. Not for long. Crackdown across North American airlines recently announced, and I think it was Delta that has given incentive program of paying airline workers at the airport receiving $10 per bag that they spot might be too big and demand the people put it in the measurement basket to see.
I also have a small bag with a Red Cross on it and it's exempt because it's medical and I carry a pillow case with a zipper on it that I stuff anything I wanted into it and it's considered exempt then I also carry plastic bag with all my heavy books in it that is reading material you can also carry a walking cane.
I just did this with Frontier airlines this week. I had a carryon and a shopping bag. They let me through with no fuss. The main point is to be discreet and to not be so obvious that you are carrying a bulky bag filled with clothing.
Coming back from peace corps, I did similar! Friend put all the heavy stuff in another bag, took off and then they weighed my carry on. And tagged it as passing the weight limit. After that we put the heavy stuff back in.
I did that, with a bag that had an airport store logo. They looked to see that it was stuff I bought at the airport or food for the plane. I had some some items I didn’t fit in my backpack at bottom and, luckily, some snacks and my water bottle on top. If I didn’t have the snacks, they would’ve made me try to put it somewhere in my backpack. There was no room and why I had them in the plastic bag. The stores at the airport won’t give you a big bag, any bag, unless you buy suitable items. I’m not gonna pay airport prices just to buy something-I could just pay for check in and take everything I want.
Exactly. That shopping bag trick does work. The agents at the counter always assume you went to the airport restaurant and bought lunch/dinner and you are taking it with you on the plane.
I do that before way back 2016.. I know my hand carry on bags are over weight. So I buy 1pack of chocolate at duty free and ask extra bag. So in total 1 handbag,1 carry on bags and 2 duty free plastic bags which is more heavy than my carry on bags which is only allowed 7kls.. (btw why I have that extra stuff, it is because my check in luggage are over weight so I have no choice, remove some than paying extra fee.
Actually I did this when I came home from Croatia :) coz I didn't have and extra space and all my pasalubong was bought last minute and I don't know where else to put it :D
Actually, carry a foldable bag in the main bag. Once at the gate take the foldable bag out and fill it out with what ever you want. So...now you know. (I did this at Melbourne Airport and Singapore, Changi Airport)
Yes. Becuz I had two plastic bags and a backpack while bf had his suitcase. I carry since he is slow to move due to medication. Gate agent gave me a hard time having 3 things (2 plastic bags and one backpack) I gave a glare, gave the bag to my barely functioning bf and problem solved.
It's not always going to work. They should have had you board last while they charge you for more bags. This looks like a thing old ladies will do. They're so important, above the rules. Some will have 3 or 4 bags, plastic or cloth. They're so disorganized. Don't know where anything is. Then they think they get to be mad at workers when they get called out for slowing down the line. Or this was just your personal bag. You had a carry on and this. Carry on is often charged and personal items are free. It's hard to tell here.
Well... one of these things is a "Carry On" (the backpack) -- the other is considered a "Personal Item" - this basically bypasses... nothing, if the airline allows both a personal item and carry-on. If they don't allow personal items or set harsher restrictions on them, then *maybe* it does something. I guess it'll probably at least give people a bit of a peace of mind, sorta =/ You what to know what would be considered a 'hack'? A pair of ski pants with extra large cargo pants pockets that you can layer over your usual clothing. You can shove a few extra shirts and small items into the large pockets for extra storage space. Take them off at security so it can go through the scanner and put them back on afterwards. Do I recommend this? No. Because it is inconvenient, and you're generally going to be a nuisance at the security line by slowing down the process of getting stuff on and off at the line. Also, who actually wants to wear another bulky article of clothing when they probably don't need to...? Granted, it *is* a bit warmer so sleeping on the flight is a bit nicer sometimes
The crazy things we will do to save some buck, buck, bucks. But in this economy, I can’t blame anyone for trying this. Airlines are just terrible and try to charge for EVERYTHING and price gauge their passengers. So desperate times calls for desperate measures. Just glad that the airline that we fly with don’t do that. But then again, I am travelling with others so maybe that is why I can get a rolling suitcase (small size), my backpack, as well as a blanket and IF they have issues with the blanket, I could shove it into my backpack. I always leave some extra room for that, just in case. 🤣
