And he playing a variant of tony stark wouldn’t mean he is back as iron man too? I think he will just be the actual victor von doom. Just hope they know what they doin cuz i dont wanna Doom to be in just 2 movies just because is rdj.

If being a Marvel fan, especially with the recent projects I've finally got around to watching, have taught me anything is that some fans complain about things they don't entirely know or misconstrued, are incredibly impatient, and are always flip flopping from saying "Marvel's dead" to "Marvel's back" and back and forth and back and forth again. Sorry to come across as whiney or biased but this is the type of stuff that makes going on the Internet a minefield you can't possibly avoid if you wanted to
its not even comparable, Marvel is sooo desperate now they gotta reuse multiversal variants of Stark to make an interesting villain. Its just lazy and honestly not sure if they can execute this right.

@@carlxd467 I think it was something they did on short notice. I think RDJ will play the role like Ultron, it'll just be his voice. RDJ will be in his 60's when this comes out, so they're likely giving him a stunt body.
But in reality... from a metaphorical view of what's going on, it's actually perfect. They're bringing back the actor that basically started the MCU, and turning him into a villain to... basically kick off the villain arc of the MCU. It... works really well honestly.
I also think Fantastic 4 is coming out before Doomsday? So that will likely set things up. I'm not sure how they set up F4... part of me is hoping that F4 is in a multiverse in the 50's, and it's actually Howard Stark that is the first Dr. Doom... and then Tony takes up the mantle for revenge, takes over and starts invading other multiverses to conquer... which sets up Secret Wars exactly right.

Do people forget or just not know why Victor Von Doom wears a mask? He literally looks unrecognisable because of the accident destroying his face. Doom won't look like Tony Stark because Doom perma wears a mask after his accident. Only person that'll recognise is Deadpool.

Well true but Doom is a narcissist so some versions in the comics merely have him with a big scar. But Doom can't accept that so he wears a mask. So it will be interesting to see which version they go with.

I could go on and on and on... but yes, we are the clueless ones.
Kang is cool and all... But Doom is one of the best villains in FICTION. Man actively spits in the face of Gods, the laws of the universe, and perhaps most importantly, Reed Richards when given the chance. I'm excited to see what RDJ does with him, bc we know the man can act.

I guarantee this isn’t the only MCU Doctor Doom we’re getting. Like we’re getting Tony Stark alternate universe Doom, but I also think we’re gonna get Victor Von Doom in the future with a different actor. Doom is such an iconic and crucial villain, I can’t see them just using him for one movie, and I have no doubt Doomsday or Secret Wars will end with the Avengers killing Doom.
But there really can't be secret wars without the beyonder🤔
There's some people who think RDJ is merely a decoy and the real Doom will be played by somebody else. Kinda like how Trevor Slattery was pretending to be the Mandarin even though Wen Wu was still out there lurking. Although with Doom they will have to execute it way better.
The Russo’s confirmed he is playing victor
This is the Tony Stark that Cap warned us about in the first Avengers movie. He is the Stark that wouldnt lay on the barb wire but would simply snip it. This version did not hesitate to mess with time unlike our Stark who didnt want to lose what he had. Time messed back and this version did not do the snap in endgame. He lost Pepper, he lost his daughter his world lost. Seeing what magic can do through watching Wanda and Strange and mixing it with his tech to get revenge or to find a way to return what he lost is what I am hoping for this Doom. When Doom is redeemed he can become old man Iron Man and help save the day giving us back a main timeline RDJ Iron man for feels.

I still think that Majors was unfairly convicted, given the publicly available evidence. It's sad to see that the character was ditched altogether, I wonder what they'll do with the council of Kangs now...

The Russo Brothers did great things with Thanos and I'm confident that they will do great things with my favourite comic book villain of all time Dr. Victor Von Doom.
I remember people being this upset when they found out Hugh was coming back as wolverine because it would ruin Logans legacy... But according to its box office, EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM showed up to watch it. And 95% of them loved it. Lesson here is- Stop clutching your pearls. You're gonna watch it anyway, and you might actually love it. The last time these characters were in the Russos' hands, we were mesmerized. They deserve our trust with this idea.
This isn't about the Russo's, RDJ, or Doom. It's very specifically about Ironman being Dr.Doom, with the confirmed information that he ain't a variant. He just looks identical to Tony Stark.

It makes little sense to piss off the remainder of an audience when you have so little left, and looking at the broad reception, you're in the minority. I wouldn't be surprised one bit, that these Avengers movies fail, and they go back to simple X-Men stuff, because people have had enough of the bullshit. Creative license or not.

RDJ is an amazing actor, so he would probably do well as Doom. But this feels playing safe and at the same time confusing since he already played another character. Antony Starr could have been a better Doom.

The Russos introduced him as VICTOR Von Doom. Not Tony as Doom. Doom is disfigured and fuses his mask to his face, we probably won't see his face.

Secret wars will be based on 2015 secret war where von doom will be the main villain (becomes god emperor when he steals the beyonders powers). Now kang is gone they'll potentially introduce molecule man but he's far o.p for the big screens
RDJ went from leaving the MCU to winning an Oscar to now going back to the MCU. Excited to see his performance as Dr Doom

Marvel are making suprises these days that not many people could have expected, not even so called scoopers😅. Chris evans, Wesley Snipes retuning for a cameo in D&W, Henry Cavill and Channing Tatum having a cameo there and now this. Seems like Marvel are now learning how to hide these suprises and play and deceive the leakers😅😅. Will be exciting going forward
This is going to be a Multiverse doctor Doom he can’t be in the same multi verse with Tony Stark if he’s in the same universe then it doesn’t make any sense. I saw somewhere that Robert Downey Jr was a bit afraid Hollywood would not take him seriously after working on super hero movies for so long. So the man literally won a Oscar before coming back to Marvel.
I like to think this is the biggest "proving a point" of Hollywood ever.

I mean I feel like maybe for the 5th avengers movie, they can always make Kang and his other variants be the villains of the first half and then Doctor Doom comes in and wipes them out. Secret Wars I think it’s good for just Doom to be the main villain. Beyonder is debatable but yeah.

Dr Doom was a big villian for the Avengers in the comics. People underestimate Doom's power. He may not be the most physical or powerful powers but he is a master manipulator and his mind control powers is unmatched. There's a reason why he was able to brainwash Scarlet Witch into marrying him and serving him in the Secret Wars

Let's be clear.
The Russos introduced the character as VICTOR VON DOOM. Not as a Tony Stark variant who is a bad guy and takes the name "Doctor Doom." The Russos introduced Victor Von Doom as the following...
1) as the most important character of SECRET WARS (either Shooter's 1984 version or the 2015 Jonathan Hickman's version, that is just undeniable basic reading comprehension). Please note: NOT the most important VILLAIN of SECRET WARS (yes, he is that too). But the most important, most ESSENTIAL character. Essential as in you CAN'T make this story without Doom.
2) as PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTER in all of Marvel. Note: not just the most important or greatest supervillain of Marvel (he is that too, btw).
3) as one the most complex and entertaining characters in ALL of fiction.
One of Doom's many skills is his ability (learned from the Ovoid alien race) to switch minds. Perhaps they will explain that the real Doctor Doom found a Stark-variant (maybe a missing Illuminati member from Earth 838?) and switched minds... but if you have seen DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE, then you know that they need not rely on that device.
Maybe there is a correlation between Iron Man's Metal Mask and the mask of Doctor Doom
