Could I recommend a few books you might like as they are historical fiction? I read them back in high school and I thought they were great.
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
    And
    Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier
Daughter of the Forest is part of the Sevenwaters Series, so there's more books if you enjoy it! Highly recommended!

I haven't been too excited to pick this up but you really sold it... I might... just.. buy it.. It does still sound a LOT like The Mortal Instruments series in like, the main character's mom is abducted, they have to learn about this whole new world and new skills, etc.. But the time travel part sounds super good.

You really should read The Axeman's Jazz by Ray Celestin: historical fiction is also my favorite genre and I ADORED this book. It's a mystery/crime type of book that takes place in New Orleans in the 1920's. It follows the crimes of a mysterious killer (who really existed) and the interesting part of the book is that you follow the investigations of multiple characters, but you keep wondering, until the very end, who is going to catch the killer and most importantly, who solved the mystery!
I can't wait for the second book to come out!

I would definitely recommend anything by Jennifer Donnelly, she is my altime favorite historical fiction writer. I recommend Revolution (by her) which is a fictional book about the French Revolution, A Northern Light (by her) which takes place in 1906 and it discusses a murder that happened during that time. And last but not least! These Shallow Graves (again by Jennifer), this is her most recent book and it is amazing! Definitely a must read if you like books like the Madman's Daughter. Hope you like them! and Happy Reading :)www.goodreads.com/book/show/28149981-revolution www.goodreads.com/book/show/64481.A_Northern_Light?from_search=true&search_version=service www.goodreads.com/book/show/24187925-these-shallow-graves

  • @mariannel753

About WWII my favourite books are *Between Shades of Gray* and *The book thief*
The first one is about a youg lithuanian girl who gets deported with her family by the russians and it is truly amazing and so touching!
The Book Thief is about a young girl who gets adopted by a german family during the war, and the narrator is Death itself which creates a unique story! (there are both YA)
About the post WWII period I loved *The guernsey literary and potato peel pie society*! Quite an odd title right? But it's a really funny and touching book about Guernesey as a young author search for inspiration for her next book. It's also an epistolary novel.
I also love *To kill a mockingbird* which takes place in the 60s I think. And lastly I would recommand you all of Jane Austen's novels which take place in the early 1800s and are fantastic (especially *Pride and Prejudice*). From the same period I also love *North and South* by Elizabeth Gaskell which is a fantastic love story with a very interesting historical background
Actually I have one more recommandation ahaha which is *The Century* a trilogy by Ken Follett. The first book is about WW1, the second about the 30s I think (haven't read it yet) and the last one about the 60s ! The books focus on american, british, russian, french and german characters : it makes the book super interesting!
I think I'll read Passenger and Wolf by Wolf thanks to your recommandations 😊

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly is a book about a girl named Andi who goes to Paris, unwillingly, with her father and finds a diary from a girl who lived centuries before her and ends up in that time period. Have you read the novel, 'Between Shades of Gray?' It's a World War II book, but it takes place near the Soviet Union and in labor camps that the Soviets had made for Lithuanians, Latvians, Finns, etc. The main character, her brother and her mother get taken to one of these camps and have to survive. There is a small love story in there too. It's phenomenal! If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it!

I've only ever read result one historical novel... which would be Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White. I absolutely love it. I really want to read The Book Thief though.

I have to wait a while after I read this history textbook I'm supposed to be reading to read any historical novels. After that, however, I will probably be reading a lot, like Outlander and Passenger.

I recommend Hourglass by Myra McEntire! It has time travel just like passenger! It takes place mainly during present time, but the two main characters also go back in time and forward in time and it's really really good!
