These guys are honorary Cartoonist Kayfabe members at this point alongside Scioli lol
Geof saying he can't call Frank anymore and when he last asked Frank about it he replied "It's complicated" hurts man. It's painful to hear that, both Geof and Frank deserve better.
"everytime we talk is a gift to me"
hits especially hard now.
In my 87 years alive on this planet, i have never heard truer words.
Seeing Geof's face light up when Choe said every conversation with him is a gift; right after both saying they don't want to bother anyone. That was so awesome.
Absolutely blown away by the Geof Darrow and David Choe conversation. Kudos to the channel for bringing these insightful dialogues to us. It’s episodes like these that keep me coming back for more. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
david has literally always talked about how much he loves hard boiled, its nice to hear these two talk very enriching
Guys i would love to see you talking about Kim jung gi, i'm sure you guys know who he is, hw also passed away recently, and he was a master. it would be awesome to see you guys analising his stuff
Love David choe’s questions…so great the way the kayfabers just let him roll
We need a Darrow/Choe book. This has to exist!
Whenever Geof is on., it makes my week. He is such an inspiration and so humble. Love that about him. And a Geof Darrow watercolor graffiti sketchbook, or 24hr collab comic with Dave would be INSANE!!! Please guys make this happen!!!
This. Shit. Is. Gold.
1:19:18 TAKAYUKI TAKEYA sculpted Shin Godzilla and worked on a bunch of Tokusatsu shows, Kamen Rider, Nausicaa, among other shows, as well as action figures, statues. His redesigns of Star Wars, Predator, and Aliens beg to be used in movies. Find his character design book titled Takayuki Takeya: Drawings, Arrangement, and Design. There is also a book collecting his Shin Godzilla and Nausicaa work. He's peers with KATSUYA TERADA. Other contemporaries are YASUSHI NIRASAWA and KEITA AMEMIYA.
Yes. That’s the man! One of the coolest experiences we had in Japan so fsr
I love these David choe interviews... I didn't know there were so many out there. I've been binge watching these and after that I'm going to check out the rest of your content.
Mr. Darrow, I was raised the same way. My parents didn't let me go to others peoples homes because they said I would just be bothering the parents and such. So I grew up feeling the same way. I saw Kirby early in the 80s at a comic convention and didn't want to bother him so I didn't go up to him. First person I went up to in my life at cons I went to was Kurt Busiek. And it was really hard for me to do so. But happy I shook his hand and thanked him for his work. So it's understandable Sir. And hard to break away mentally from being that way. Hugs.
KILLING IT! Love waking up to these. Love from Australia. More David Choe features please
1:15:13 I've heard of this before! When I was a little kid and I thought I was going crazy! I remember being scared of those little vintage Smurf figurines back in the 90s because my grandma told me that those toys were fucking possessed and would tell their owners to hurt themselves and jump out of windows
That's hilarious! 😂 I'm curious though, Did your grandma just make it up or was that a myth that was going around at the time?
@@ricedreemit was a myth she probably remembered from the news and tabloids back in the 80s.
Great video! Thank you for this conversation, love to hear Choe and Geof
Dope!
great episode, hope yall get more EJDG episodes planned soon while the universe allows it
Dude this was such a great great GREAT EPISODE. Thank you so much for this, it really answered some real questions I'm dealing with, and just hearing Choe and Darrow and yourselves tackle it , it's just amazing.
Now let's get a reprint of those Shaolin Cowboy HC!
ware vs darrow for greatest living cartoonists who cant take a compliment
Is David Choe a fan of Kim Jung Gi?? Seems like he would love him. Are there any videos of him speaking about him?
gotta love how Geof has always has that aw shucks attitude every time we have seen him but Dave calls him out at one point "you know, you know you draw better than everybody" lol all in good fun. reminds me of i think the first time we saw Geof on the channel he made some comment like "i dont guys do you think my inking is good?" Ed was like are you kidding me???
Can someone tell me who this Libre Tor is? I have no idea how to spell it
Tanino Liberatore
What was the Chicago magazine mentioned at 23:14 ?
love all you guys thanks for the video
i love to hear Choe talking about Geof Darrow's work
This is a legit treasure.
I am a big Choe fan!!!! Get your visa together David!! haha
geof really is a very kind reserved individual. such a mellow self effacing guy. really hope to meet him again one day
Dororo... was a ps2 game called "Blood Will Tell"... such a good one.
Hard-boiled was on another level. I agree with Choe on that. It felt like Blade Runner - rated R - shards of glass everywhere - so many pieces of trash and detriment. And then - Big Guy and Rusty - the melting bodies and goo. Lovely, lovely stuff.
Jeff Purves Hulk is the fucking best, though.
🔥🔥🔥
What a fantastic conversation
"Silent but Deadly Edition" LOL. Thanks for the insight, inspiration and laughter
Wait ...who were they talking about never getting aids?lol. I want to see his work.
Tanino Liberatore. Ranx is pretty hardcore.
Darrow was a highlight for me to color for Image’s Prophet. Thank you for this interview!
Hoho @12:25 David is talking about the art of making art.And that is 100 % true you can tell a lot about an artist based on how he executes his form.I love watching other artists during their process of creation, great idea guys I might comment more later 😅
Love darrow as such an inspiration for such a beautiful high bar of technical skill to aim for
🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘
So stoked every time Geof Darrow makes an appearance. What I love about his work is that I see new crazy shit every time I reread his comics.
40:26 There's a refractory period between looking at pages in Darrow's work.
Cho's ode to Darrow's ultraviolence was a tour de force of passion and sentiment.
Choe had one of my favourite JRE episodes, now also a few of my favourite CK episodes. Legend
👏👏👏Great video and conversation
Love the channel guys! How about a little review on Jim Lee’s Divine Right? 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jim Lee Tried His Hand at Writing His Own Comics Once.
