Right!? I would love to do lots of different patterns and styles based of Alice in Wonderland for the set! It would be a massive project but I would love to do it!
I didnt even realize I needed your branding pep talk until I heard it! I've started selling my wool art slowly but I'm so afraid of putting my work out there and feeling so vulnerable about it but your words really helped! Thank you thank you thank you!
A wonderful incense burner with the little mouths. The warp gives a non-dishware vibe. The coordinating florals make the sets so unified. Your branding explanation was better than any I have heard. Thanks Shelby for taking us on this journey. 💜
I love all of your whimsical, adorable pieces! Thank you for speaking about imposter syndrome and using branding to stand out. You’re very inspiring!🌼🍄🌿
I just hope it was helpful! Imposter syndrome can really get in the way sometimes! That was my little reminder that you are amazing! Don’t let it get in the way of the beautiful art you need to create! Thank you for your love!
Thank you! Awww this is so lovely! I was really sad about the warping but all of these comments make me so filled with love that they are adored regardless!
Love these! it could also be used as a cute jewelry dish. I think it would look pretty cute to put a bunch of different rings around the duck or strawberry in the middle!
Oh my gosh absolutely! You could have so much fun with this shape! I think it concerns me the warping and then adding a ring dish like attachment to it if it’s already warping because of weight issues but I think it would be fun to play with regardless!
thank you for charing about your experience of branding and niche. as a hobby illustrater who just started selling ny one prints I find it most intresting to listen to. I love how including and full of joy your discription of the conceps were. It made me happy.
The little ducks!!! 😍 that are adorable!!!! This is so creative from you, it was a completely different concept for these little plates! I think that the bees would also look super cute, maybe for the stick type incense, with some bees at the center as the support… I hope you keep these as a feature in your shop, they are truly adorable!
Your pep-talk on branding, artist statements, and imposter syndrome in this video was just what I needed! Thanks for the reminder, you have such a good way of explaining things in an approachable way 🤩
@@ShelbySherritt Also, you are looking the plates in wrong angle. They are just perfect like that. So cuuute and full of personality. I would love to have all my plates looking like that.
This was such a good video because as much as I love your art, your discussion was really good and while I'm not an artist, it still touched me. Side note, I actually don't mind the warping. I think it adds to the hand made nature of it.
Awh thank you so much! I was a little bit nervous to share, well I am every week as it can be quiet vulnerable but I know that sometimes these little insights can really help and inspire others. I am so happy it touched you. That’s made my day!
Omg this is so cool! I actually live near Fresno and have been to Duncan Ceramics before! Its the go-to supplies place for all ceramics students at Fresno State and their molds are so cute! You can even buy bisque versions of their molds and paint them yourself. My family has a few of their older molds that some of the women of my family have painted over the years and they're just wonderful. I honestly never thought I'd see something from Duncan all the way in Australia!
I am working on building a business and your words during your "niche" conversation really helped me tremendously. I have been held back with fear that my art idea isn't unique enough, even though I am working on stuff that I have seen a little bit, but I have found a way to make it different, but still worried. I really thank you for your encouraging words, even though they were not directly for me. 😘
I love the plates. Even the wonkyness of it. I think we are so over things being "perfect" and factory manufactured. Personally I would always go for something that has personality and character and personalisation from the maker. Definitely enjoy your videos. Keep them coming. Love 😍
I actually own warped plates, I stack them and use then. I don't mind at all. None of my plates match each other, they're all a bit unique, mostly from charity shops and things that have survived two small children. As long as my food doesn't slide or dribble off, it's all good here
I so appreciated the talk about branding, I saved the video to my Great Ideas file. I am so impressed by you. The duckie is fabulous! The strawberry scares me. I don’t know why. By now, you know there is a mystery tea cup. You’ll have lots of time to perfect the saucer. You will figure it out because among all your talents Is problem-solving. Problem-solving is the love child of curiosity and discipline IMO.
My mother has this beautiful, eclectic, unusual-type style in her home (what you'd call sort of uniquely cottage-core) and when I tell you she would adore the way those plates stack- I mean she would *_adore_* them. That one aspect that you disliked so much about those dishes is the literal same quality that would make me buy them. Just wanted you to know that. Isn't art wonderful in this way? :)
Thanks for talking about brand cohesion! that was really useful and im barely an artist, but i am building a public profile in science. Your reminders and pointers about knowing your niche to best know why your customers have come to you was great.
I honestly done mind the warp, especially since they're more of an art piece anyway. I adore how you did the plates and the duck makes me so happy! I definitely want to try to buy one of these from you.
Awh thank you! These comments have given me so much more confidence about them! It’s really not as noticeable when they are by themselves! It’s when you stack them that you notice they are really warped!
I know this is late to the game, but I like the fact that they aren’t perfect. I would love owning these because what would be perceived as “flaws” is actually what makes them extra precious and unique. I think they would fit right into a cottage core or whimsical home.
I can see how that's an issue. I can just imagine them falling over and breaking with the warp. They are really gorgeous. Without the worp I can definitely see myself getting these for a nice dinner party. Or even just for insence for my sisters. The duckies are my absolute favorite. And my mom would be super into those strawberries.
Absolutely brilliant video. You've opened my eyes to what it was I was missing. I've been struggling getting started and this has just clarified what I need to do. Thank you so much. 💓
Well not my normal viewing on UA-cam..but got say you have impressed me with what achieve from the old slip moulds .reminds me of when I lived near Stoke on Trent ,where most of my friends did what you did for a living..buckets of slip and oatcakes.. that was a long time ago now..you are an artist..loving your work 👍😃
I actually like the warping. I think with a teacup it would totally fit the Mad Hatter Tea Party vibe. I look forward to you finding the matching teacup :) editing to add. I just realised you did find a teacup earlier but it was a handless one. I wonder if it would work with the saucer? Maybe you have 2 different tea sets to discover :)
these are so cute!!! even with the warping, it doesn’t matter much because it’s a stand alone plate. especially with the little cuties for the incense! i love them!! if you ever do a restock of these i’ll def get one
Plate could have been pulled out of the mold and then bent in the process. One can flatten out the plate and it looks fine but then returns during the heat work in the kiln. See if you can avoid that when removing from mold. Also dry evenly. I am going to try drying some mugs in my convection oven.😊 I love your things.
I realise the warping probably annoys you, but they would make really good plates for the mad hatters tea party idea you had because of the warping. Always love your videos!
In my experience, plates are notorious for warping and have a very strong "memory" for how they are handled. VERY slow drying and minimal handling before they reach hard leather stage have given me the best results but I still typically make a couple extras when making sets just in case.
Such a cute incense set, and the warping wouldn't bother me in this instance at all. 💕🌼 Thank you so much for the great insight into branding and niche. I'm kind of at that point with my art, and looking to define my direction better.
I come here because I love what you create, but today I really needed that branding pep talk, I get the impostor syndrome bad. It’s so hard sometimes because my art is so personal and I forget others see value in me and my work. 💕

you know i think this might be my fav out of all the reveals (though i loved the mugs you added the mushrooms to). I really love it when you combine multiple castings into one project like this. You're so creative and taking something thats meant for a specific purpose and adding to it or turning it into something else is one of the best ways to show creativity! Over a hundred comments and nobody has yet mentioned that the strawberry is kinda nightmare fuel. I guess it's just me, then. The duckies more than make up for it, though, they're fantastic with those blue accents. And another vote for wobbly plates being cuter than boring old symmetrical saucers. I have zero interest in ever making pottery of my own again (7th grade art class showed that my aptitudes lie elsewhere), but watching these is super fun! Thanks for sharing your exploration of this amazing catalog you stumbled into!
I wanted to say hi and I have come up with a idea for the strawberries it may not be doable it might be too labor intensive but I wanted to run it by you anyway. My idea is to turn them into a set of potpourri holders by piercing holes where the seeds are , I mean a single hole in each seed and you could possibly get a cork for the bottom they could hold potpourri maybe even strawberry potpourri. You could group them in a basket to sell and have a bag of potpourri with them or sold separately. Are they called pomander? And you can put one in your dresser drawer to make your clothes smell good or set them around your room either separately or all together in the basket. Wether you want to go to the trouble of getting the potpourri and basket I don't know. As I said it might be too labor intensive but I think they would be useful as well as decorative. I enjoy watching you create your pottery pieces, thanks for sharing what you do.😊👍
There's something whimsical about the stack of warped plates. Not practical but it looked like something that would be a part of a magical cluttered kitchen in a movie or something
I kinda love how the plates stack. It reminds me of something out of the Weasley house.
I mean, very mad hatter!
yes I absolutely agree!!! I love them
It would be so fun to paint them in a Mrs. Weasley sweater design! A set has a plate for each member, and there could be a "special" one with an H.
@@shastabare6026 that's what I was thinking. I want to make them all turquoise, purple, black and white and gold!
🥰
I actually love the look of them stacked, definitely gives me even more of a cute cottage core vibe!!! 😍😍😍😍
They definitely fits the mad hatter theme with the warping! I love them and their quirks.
Right!? I would love to do lots of different patterns and styles based of Alice in Wonderland for the set! It would be a massive project but I would love to do it!
I think the warping goes with the Alice and wonderland theme very well! I would call it a happy accident 😊
I was just going to comment, "Mad Hatter Tea Party dishes." :)
Watching you trim the excess off of pieces is extremely satisfying and relaxing.
It is so satisfying! I might need to do a compilation of trimming!
I didnt even realize I needed your branding pep talk until I heard it! I've started selling my wool art slowly but I'm so afraid of putting my work out there and feeling so vulnerable about it but your words really helped! Thank you thank you thank you!
How's it going? :)
That blue flowered little duckie is soooo cute !!! One my favorites so far !
Thank you so much! It’s a softer palette from last time and I am really in love with it!
I actually really like the plates, they give a homemade vibe/wonderland vibe and I absolutely love them!

Love the idea of incense burners. So cute! Also - your branding is so clear and I think you do an excellent job of being you and being unique

the little duckies puffing smoke are so cute!

Makes me happy that these wonderful moulds found a home where they are loved and are being used
WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY SURPRISE DUCKIE!

Hey, love to see another Fresno native in the comments! It's wild how far these molds can travel isn't it?
I had such a horrid day today, but this video made me cheer up right away. Thank you so much Shelby!! I love your content ❤️❤️❤️

I am impressed with your steady painting!!!
perfect biscuit or toast plate and Im loving the wobble stack
Adorable duckies! 💕
That's too bad about the warping but they are truly adorable! Love them with the ducky, especially with the blue!
I LOVE THE INCENSE HOLDERS!! SOOOO CUTE!!!! MAKE MOREE!!
They're cute! I always watch at around midnight Friday in the UK 🇬🇧 can't wait until Saturday morning knowing its there!
This is so sweet! I have thought about maybe releasing them as a premier 8 hours before but I don’t know if I can be that consistent yet 😂
I personally LOVE the way the plates stack. It highlights the handmade and organic feel of them.

RIGHT! It was almost meant to be! I just need the wonky stacked tea cups!
Hopefully a beautiful little tea cup mould is waiting to be found.
Adore this series. I have learned that I love bird figurines, and I prefer flora not to have faces. 🙂 Love watching your work!
Thank you so much Bonnie!
I love that you want ever piece to have a purpose.
You could pierce extra holes into the ducks wing and where the strawberry has seeds. You then could put small led lights under them

I like the free painting you did on the ducks.
I think the wobbly stacking is pretty perfect for a mad tea party thing though
It so is!! I love this so much! I cant believe I didn't think of this!
That duck is so adorable! 😍😍😍
What a brilliant idea!
Sooo the handless teacups didn't go with these plates? Huh...
I enjoy watching you create your pottery pieces, thanks for sharing what you do.😊👍
The wonky plates might make good butterfly/bee dishes!
I need one of your floral dukies!! They are sooo cute!!
The ducks are adoragle. And I love the plates ... warped or not,
I love it! And the those ducks are tool precious ❤
I have to check comments just to be sure I am not the only one but I am not :) I love how the plates look! Especially stacked. It give them character.
Your videos are so fun and relaxing :) thank you for sharing!
Love the warping, I want a whole set but they all have to be warped
Those ducks are incredible!
Personally I would buy a set of wonky warped plates, I think these are gorgeous!
There's something whimsical about the stack of warped plates. Not practical but it looked like something that would be a part of a magical cluttered kitchen in a movie or something
Also, I have a daughter named Shelby who is about your age and you share very similar heart and energy 🥰 Lucky me 😊
I really like the look when they stack with the warp! I don't think they are *appropriate swear word* like you said!
Great Job again this week :D
In previous videos you were looking at getting a new kiln, how are you going with that?
I’ll have news very soon!!! Hopefully! We find out about the new studio permits next week 🤞
