How a Button Battery Almost Killed Me

Taakiri was only one when the acid from a button battery she swallowed burnt through her oesophagus (food pipe), leaving her with life long damage.
Now she lives with the ongoing complications, supported by her Nan Michelle who is passionate about preventing other tamariki from the harm of button batteries. As well as the Burn Support Group Charitable Trust, Inc. who provide burns support.
Now Taakiri and Michelle share a simple message, keep button batteries out of sight and reach of tamariki.
