  • Pete demonstrates how to sharpen your bowl gouge to a 40/40 grind and use the push cut to make a bowl. He demonstrates rough cutting a green wood bowl and then finishing once it is dried.

    I'm not sure why the should is needed & the dove tail. First time I've seen anyone do this.

    Very nice demo indeed. However the jaws were way to small for the tenon on the wet bowl. Maximum hold is attained when the jaws a nearly closed up. You were only holding by the outer tip of each jaw. Completely closed makes a perfect circle so the closer the better.

      With a Oneway chuck and their profiled jaws there is good holding power at any position you open the jaws to.

    If you could put a stripe of colored tape in the flute of the gouge it would be much easier to see the angle of the flute. Very nice job by the way.

    AH learned from SB and pretty much ripped off all she learned including tools. Shame that even the angle finder is referred to as an AH device. Shows how camera presence and good looks go a long way in rising to the top of social media. Without doubt she is brilliant as a turner but SB light to get credit forore than the 40-40 grind. My 2 cents.

      Totally agree. She may be a great turner but she seems very self promoting and clearly bases her supposedly unique tools on those of others. Not original.
