And it actually made sense for the GoBots to have males and females, since they were originally humans (or something on their planet exactly like humans, anyway), but over time replaced their worn out body parts to become cyborgs that could convert. There were a few other female GoBots. Off the top of my head I can remember Smallfoot, Pathfinder, and (Rock Lord) Solitare. Edit: The monster GoBot Vamp was also female in the cartoon, but in the toy commercial was said that "HE'S so scary, he even scares HIMSELF".

I get the distinct feeling that Crasher would get on terrifyingly well with the Stunticons and have fun competitions with Wildrider to see how many cars each of them could run off the road.
Haven't heard of the Stunticons in a long time. Menasor (their combiner form) would probably apply her as something like power fists (she'd be the right arm batting ram perhaps).
Her laugh is definitely the thing I remember most about Crasher. The Tom Scioli series is probably the very best Go-Bots story I've ever read/seen. Definitely one of the best stories IDW produced. I always envisioned Armada's Cyclonus as initially being conceived as an iteration of Coptur. It's a shame Hasbro are so hesitant to integrate the Go-Bots proper.
I feel like a big part of Hasbro's reluctance to fully incorporate the GoBots into Transformers is due to the rights issues with most of the iconic GoBots designs. Hasbro owns the characters, but Bandai owns the original toy designs, so it brings up the issue of how to make them recognizable as GoBots while keeping them legally distinct from Machine Robo. Crasher just happens to work better than most because she has an alt mode that can be easily retooled and/or repainted from Mirage.
@@LordArikado You're probably right. I remember reading an interview with a Transformers toy designer that brought this up. They were going to release a toy based on a GoBot (perhaps one of these Crashers) and had to convince the higher-ups that what they were proposing would be legal for them to do without imposing on the Machine Robo designs. I don't remember all the details, but it had something to do with the vehicle mode being based on a real car that made it OK. There was another case where a set of Japanese-exclusive recolors of the G1 mini cars was advertised, with all the toys having the names of GoBots. (These were the US GoBots names, not the Japanese Machine Robo names.) However, when the toy set was released, the GoBot names for the characters had been removed.

I love all the humor and cool references in this episode. I never thought Ben 10 would get a reference in the Basics, but that is pretty darn cool. Plus, since it is holiday time, Crasher deserves to be "laughing all the way". LOL
Crasher was always my favorite Go-Bot. The glee with which she annihilated things was entertaining. I still have her classic toy laying around somewhere.
Crasher was by far the best thing in the Gobots and definitely deserves a new lease of life. I'd have loved to have seen her in the live action though, something close to the original in either Bumblebee or the upcoming Rise of the Beasts.
I always thought Shatter & Dropkick were reminiscent of Crasher & Coptur. Cool to see that it was true! The Gobots still got a cameo in the Bumblebee movie; the character, Memo, is seen reading a Gobots comic for a couple seconds. Anyway, this was a nice Christmas treat. Crasher was easily my favorite character in Gobots. She just loved her job so much!
That’s the kind of laugh that Joker would tell her to chill. Also, I applaud that well integrated Christmas joke there. No seriously, my instinct was to clap only to remember this was a UA-cam video. I just love a good joke.
It should also be noted that in the last episode of Ben 10 Omniverse she featured in, Fistina joins the Plumbers and changes her armor color to resemble Crasher’s original Machine Robo colors!
Hi there, I just wanted to say that being born in 86 I have been a long term transformers fan and have recently gotten back into collecting transformers toys(something that I haven't done with as much enthusiasm since I was like 6 and had all the protectobots) and I have built such a tasty collection since watching your videos that frankly I don't know if should I should thank you for such lovely toys or blame you for being so short of money............. Ofcourse it's a thank you. I love my toys and I very much enjoy your content🥰
What amazed me more than anything is how easily accepted Crasher was in the GoBots franchise, what with her being a female robot. Yet Hasbro fought tooth and nail to avoid assigning gender to their TRANSFORMERS robots.
Yeah, I remember watching the Go-Bots back in the day and the fact that she was female never was a thing that anyone cared about. At least not back then.
There were plenty of female GoBots, including Pathfinder and Small Foot. Their character models weren't overly feminine either, unlike Elita One and Arcee who had to be pink so we knew they were female.
I picked up Crasher at my local Walmart store and I remember having her as a Gobot toy. She is one of my favorites as a child and I remember her in the IDW comics and also in the Ben 10 cartoons and now I have her in the Transformers Legacy line as well and I can't wait for your 200 episode of the basics of the Transformers. If she ever appears in s show or comic, one idea I could see her being written as Mirage’s sister, who hated how privileged she & her brother were compared to many others like the gladiadors, with whom she’d run away to and join the decepticons since their earliest days.

I love Crasher, and I *really* wish I still had the original GoBots toy of her that I had when I was a kid. It was definitely unusual for the time that one of the main characters in a "boy's" toy line (and a villain bruiser no less) was a female character (GI Joe's Baroness is the only other notable example I can think of), and her voice and insane laugh definitely made her memorable. I wish her Legacy figure looked more like her original alt mode but I'm still glad she's back, and maybe she'll get another Porche "inspired" alt mode someday.
Great video Chris! You never cease to amaze! So in terms of incorporating the Gobots into Transformers fiction, I've always thought that they could be reinterpreted as inhabitants of Gorlam Prime. For those unfamiliar, Gorlam Prime was a planet featured in Simon Furman's run during the early 2005 IDW comics, where its inhabitants the Gorlamites went through a planetwide conversion from organic to mechanical lifeforms. Furman used some of the Micromasters to represent them, but I personally think that the Gobots would fit into the concept a lot better since they were originally cyborgs before Hasbro reintroduced them as purely Cybertronian. Their conversion into Cybertronian-like beings could still be tied in with the Transformers like it was in IDW. I can only hope that such an idea is explored in the future.
I loved Crasher so much as a kid! I barely remember the Go-Bots cartoon but her design was the only Go-Bot I remembered years later. My parents couldn't afford Transformers, so I got some Go-Bots that were probably on sale instead, and she got a lot of play. I'm really thrilled to discover she's still around so many decades later, if in a slightly different form, her design is so classic and easily deserved all those homages
Crasher was the only Go-Bot toy I had way back when. I also remember her quite prominently in the cartoon series, making her easily my favorite character in the series. It also helped that her vehicle mode and color scheme were sick as hell. The only vehicle I find more aesthetically pleasing than hers would be the MadMobile.

Great job again Chrismcfeely.... I was not a fan of the Go-Bots back in the day except for the opening of the cartoon but they have grown on me over the years. This character however is a fantastic one as she could have been the 1st female Deception in the ranks. And now as more and more female Deceptions emerge Crasher should he right at the top of the list!!
White Crasher aka Porsche Robo also appeared in the machine Robo revenge of Chronos and battle hackers anime. Porsche robo is a male. The white toy was released under Bandai in the machine robo 600 series as MR 20.
Haven't seen Crasher since Gobots vs Mighty Rocklords! Glad she's given a chance to shine! Always saw her as a robotic Baroness! Perfect ally to my other fave, Cy-kill!
6:40 I actually have the crasher F1 car because of this mix up. I asked a friend of mine to see if they could get me a fracture toy of the RID bounty hunter. I didn’t realize that there was also a fracture F1 car so I wound up getting that instead.
Awesome video Chris!👍🏻 Wow! I have not thought about this character in decades! But, I instantly recognized her when I seen the face of her GO BOT design. Merry Christmas!🎅🏻🎄
Crasher was a great villain. Megatron would’ve loved to have her as a Decepticon as much as Cykill loves her as a Renegade. I would’ve also love to seen her get into scuffle with Rumble and Frenzy, with their pile drivers going up against her stumping discharge attack.
Yup, kick out Breakdown and replace him with Crasher, the name alone would either make her, one that enjoys crashing into Autobots, or a really careless Deception, menacing both camps in battles!
The GoBots cartoon had a smaller cast of distinct characters. That was something Transformers couldn't do because they had to put all the toys in each season
500th like! Imagine if this maniac was part of the Stunticons also. How much more damage can the Stunticons cause on the road and how much more unstable Menasor can get?
Seeing Crasher's lightning stomps from the cartoon reminded me of two separate moments from the first live action Transformers film. Specifically, it reminds me of Blackout's weapon from the start of the movie, capable of unleashing a shockwave that destroyed the armed jeeps and parked aircraft at the base. Crasher could be a great way to bring that kind of attack back into Transformers media. Have a great new year, Chris! Happy Christmas!
Always great to see your content! Always a great way to start a Saturday! Obscure Characters Month is a favorite since a lot of these I have no idea about. Not to mention it’s great seeing these episodes coinciding with the releases of these characters in the toy line. Also a very Merry Christmas to you as well, Chris!
Suggestion for an episode: Override. She's an interesting case where the first use of a name hasn't become the go-to identity of modern incarnations. It's not too uncommon but still worth covering. Her Cybertron incarnation seems to be the most common depiction in media since then.
Now if only we can get crasher in an animated show cuz that laugh can send chills down the pistons of any decepticon or autobot. Great vid on crasher chris i will always watch "the basics" vids any day of the week and i cannot wait for the 200th episode🤩
This is another great episode. Always stellar work. I wish there was a channel like yours, dedicated to GoBots deep-dives. I had some toys as a kid, but only caught one or two episodes of the show.
I would love to see a three minute long episode on signal lancer since he’s just such a fun character with an unneedingly cool design that needs more recognition
Me: “Omg a rival to Transformers I wonder why it lost?” Chris: “Between the heroic guardians and the evil renegades from planet Gobotron!” Me: “Ah. So this wasn’t a battle. It was a slaughter.”
I was kind of expecting a reindeer joke since it’s Christmastime and Crasher and Dasher rhyme, but maybe that’s just my silliness talking. Yet another amazing video, Chris!
One thing you forgot to mention about the overall gobots originally go box were not "pure original sentient robots"... We find out throughout the series gobots that they are actually aliens brains/memories built into robots to extend their life from sickness and death... And the two creators of the mechanical concept of brain transfer had a falling out and started their war So technically crasher is a biological cyborg transformer (brain in a robot)
Crasher is my favorite Transformers character. That moment when she saved Optimus prime and inherited the matrix of leadership in the 1986 movie was peak cinema.
I find it funny that she's suppose to be a destructive character yet she transforms into a Formula 1 race car which you would think more speed than anything else for how fragle and slender they are.
@@ShinGallon Her legacy toy seems to be a reference to the 2007 toyline repaint of Mirage, which was called Fracture (because Crasher's trademark wasn't available).
Yknow if someone like Crasher can make it this far, I’m hoping other transformers like Jolt to get more recognition than just being the blue one in Transformers RoTF
I picked up her new toy and Shadowstrip the other day and I can't help but notice how perfect the Dragstrip mold would have been for her instead of Mirage's.
Yup i agree. I think the only reason they didn’t give her dragstrip was because they want to release all the stuntacons in G2 colors (and his G2 scheme is mostly black)
"(LITERALLY THE MOST INSANE LAUGHTER YOU'VE EVER HEARD)" is a _fantastic_ subtitle
Has a Clinton/Harris feel.
The fact that gobots went from a rival series to TF into being a part of TF still shocks me,what a shock
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
I mean there just robots still. It makes sense to just make them Cybertronians
And by Cybertronians I mean dead robots all the time
Also the GotG christmas special confirms that Gobots (as in the actual characters not the toys) are canon in the MCU, which is also kinda wild

The fact that Crasher's character trait may had a role in inspiring other crazy ladies in fiction is a shock.
Then she really lived up to the term, Lunatic. Probably should have been the name.
Not really. Men love crazy chicks.
If Crasher was part from Cyberverse Spark armor toyline, he would have Cy-kill as a motorcycle. When combined, they would be called:

White Crasher aka Porsche Robo also appeared in the machine Robo revenge of Chronos and battle hackers anime. Porsche robo is a male. The white toy was released under Bandai in the machine robo 600 series as MR 20.
I've never thought that Fistina in Ben 10 Omniverse is the inspiration from GoBots Crasher. Thanks for that info Chris.
Haven't seen Crasher since Gobots vs Mighty Rocklords! Glad she's given a chance to shine! Always saw her as a robotic Baroness! Perfect ally to my other fave, Cy-kill!
Thank you so much for bringing up the GoBots I completely forgot all about them now I'm going to go watch it on television
6:40 I actually have the crasher F1 car because of this mix up. I asked a friend of mine to see if they could get me a fracture toy of the RID bounty hunter. I didn’t realize that there was also a fracture F1 car so I wound up getting that instead.
happy holidays and thank you for another great year of the basics! ❤️🌎☮️
Merry Christmas Eve, Chris McFeely. Nice to have met you, and enjoy your holidays!
I always loved Crasher! She always seems to truly enjoy her work.
Awesome video Chris!👍🏻
Wow! I have not thought about this character in decades! But, I instantly recognized her when I seen the face of her GO BOT design.
Merry Christmas!🎅🏻🎄
The idea of sg crahser being blurr's cousin should be expanded more and more, since the tow of them are known for racing,speed.....
Crasher was a great villain. Megatron would’ve loved to have her as a Decepticon as much as Cykill loves her as a Renegade. I would’ve also love to seen her get into scuffle with Rumble and Frenzy, with their pile drivers going up against her stumping discharge attack.
Anyone else feel that Crasher would make an excellent extra member of The Stunticons?
She could be Menasor's head.
Imagine that laugh bearing down on you.
Yup, kick out Breakdown and replace him with Crasher, the name alone would either make her, one that enjoys crashing into Autobots, or a really careless Deception, menacing both camps in battles!
Great idea!
Let's not forget about Slicks!
Could do a whole team to form Malicia, female counterpart to Menasor
6:47 WOOOOOO! Yeaaaaah babyyyyy! That's what I've been waiting for! That's what it's all about!
The Joker: "Hey, tone it down, lady!"
I watched Gobots as a kid and I can’t remember that Crasher’s laugh is so disturbing. Omg
Great way to end the year! Can't wait for Episode 200 and beyond!
The GoBots cartoon had a smaller cast of distinct characters. That was something Transformers couldn't do because they had to put all the toys in each season
That's right. Both sides each had three main characters, and the rest would be recurring characters.
Loved this video though. Good tale of how Crasher got picked up by the TF's.
*cue Santa-like laughter morphing into deranged robotic laughter*
Always great to see your content! Always a great way to start a Saturday! Obscure Characters Month is a favorite since a lot of these I have no idea about. Not to mention it’s great seeing these episodes coinciding with the releases of these characters in the toy line.
Also a very Merry Christmas to you as well, Chris!
Always interesting to see how transfomrers writers handle gobots characters.
Suggestion for an episode: Override. She's an interesting case where the first use of a name hasn't become the go-to identity of modern incarnations. It's not too uncommon but still worth covering. Her Cybertron incarnation seems to be the most common depiction in media since then.
Shame they keep throwing her into stories where everyone dies. I dunno what’s up with that?
Now if only we can get crasher in an animated show cuz that laugh can send chills down the pistons of any decepticon or autobot.
Great vid on crasher chris i will always watch "the basics" vids any day of the week and i cannot wait for the 200th episode🤩
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Chris Mcfeely and all his viewers.
Good pick for a thumbnail mate as soon as I saw that gobot I was straight on it hahaha merry Christmas
I feel like we need a comic to go along with the velocitron speedia/legacy toy line also merry Christmas and have a happy new year Chris!
Her iconic evil sinister laugh I will never forget
Frank welker and Peter Cullen both played on gobots as well
Me: “Omg a rival to Transformers I wonder why it lost?”
Chris: “Between the heroic guardians and the evil renegades from planet Gobotron!”
Me: “Ah. So this wasn’t a battle. It was a slaughter.”
“LITERALLY THE MOST INSANE LAUGHTER YOU HAVE EVER HEARD”
I was kind of expecting a reindeer joke since it’s Christmastime and Crasher and Dasher rhyme, but maybe that’s just my silliness talking. Yet another amazing video, Chris!
As always, obscure character month was fun and surprising, i love how notable the go bots have become in tf history
Shatter is a Gobot...there is a transformer, who appeared in Ben 10...MY LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas to Bots and Cons alike.
I love the redesigns.
Damn. It would've been freaking awesome if the robots in the Bumblebee movie had been Crasher and Cop-Tur. Lol
"Alright Marilyn, that was a great laugh, but I think it'd be better if we ran it through an electronic filter."
And you know what? It was.
So Ben 10 is where I swear I saw this character. Neat.
Thanks for all the info on all the Bots.Merry Christmas
One thing you forgot to mention about the overall gobots originally go box were not "pure original sentient robots"... We find out throughout the series gobots that they are actually aliens brains/memories built into robots to extend their life from sickness and death... And the two creators of the mechanical concept of brain transfer had a falling out and started their war
So technically crasher is a biological cyborg transformer (brain in a robot)
Having not watched Go-Bots growing up.
I can confirm that laugh is indeed something.
2:21 if galvatron was watching this he'll be like "damm and I thought I was the crazy one *getting his blaster ready* but not for long"
Crasher is my favorite Transformers character. That moment when she saved Optimus prime and inherited the matrix of leadership in the 1986 movie was peak cinema.
I find it funny that she's suppose to be a destructive character yet she transforms into a Formula 1 race car which you would think more speed than anything else for how fragle and slender they are.
Porsche 956's were fragile too (born to race not for demolition derbies) So I imagine Crasher had extra armor put in to protect her body.
I really wish her Legacy toy were a retool of Combiner Wars Jazz, that alt mode is much closer to her original GoBots alt mode.
I wish it was a repaint of deadend his transformation scheme is closer to hers.
I'm just here to ask a question. Your handle. Blues Brothers reference?
@@ShinGallon Her legacy toy seems to be a reference to the 2007 toyline repaint of Mirage, which was called Fracture (because Crasher's trademark wasn't available).
6:56 can we just talk about how awesome a Ben 10 Omniverse and Transformers animated crossover would’ve been?
DJW did an art of a Transformers alien.
