What are we talking about here? Of course, about Mi 9 who has this last criteria on his side, and the other phones do not dream about it! Then what are the criteria for dividing phones into different classes? This is not clear in this review and I do not understand it anymore ...
I would take this over the S10+ mainly because this has a much better camera and battery life. I bought the 8gb/256gb version for 600, S10+ nor XS max can come close. Get the right case, I have a nice case, not thick and no protruding camera. As for Battery life, something wrong with yours bro, I can get 7-9 hours on screen with Mobile / Wifi on, or 23 hours without the WIFI on.
I'm looking for something to replace my s7 edge but struggling to find something reasonably priced (under £400/€400) with at least better quality and specs. Camera, amoled, good software without bugs, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack would be nice. Is there anything out there?! Camera is a big one. Needs to be as good/ better than s7. I don't find the s7 edge slow so not bothered about new chips
@@Schneizel00 I just can't believe that. Lower resolution screen, inferior panel, no 3.5mm headphone jack, inferior camera, huge notch, no micro SD card slot, xiaomi bugs. Think I'll stick with my s7 edge until there's actually something better to buy which isn't over £350

I have a problem that nobody can answer! LG G6, Note 5, now my P30, won't load WiFi upstairs and will struggle @my work. Mate 10pro, Note 9 and Pixel 2 work fine?
i was interested, but here in China I can get the one plus 7 256gb sd sd 855 with 8gb for the exact same, 2999rmb. Waiting for it now, actually--Taobao. I'd rather get the best software experience, too. The android crowd gets way to caught up in the hardware without enough consideration to the software, which is still pretty shit on most android devices.
It is more powerful than iPhone xs max and if performance is what you want, this is the most powerful , fastest phone on the planet right now. To achieve that at this price with reasonably good camera , screen and speaker, which are not really bad at all, is amazing. If they would have added a high end display, a high end camera and high end speaker, then that would have been end of the comparison, no Samsung , no iPhone, Xiaomi would have been the best phone of the year irrespective of what could come later this year. And if Xiaomi continues on this path, then soon we are going to see the Xiaomi will become unreachable for any other smartphone manufacturers because of what it will be able to give at about half the price of its competitors. And it will be good for everyone if that happens.
I play every game on MAX settings 60fps with zero lag. Pictures are gorgeous, and the updates come 2 times a month. This phone kills all other phones on the market.
Mi9 is crap. I used Xiaomi since Redmi 1 and used to love their phones. First update killed my phone for 3 weeks. Couldn't make calls. 3 weeks to fix was way too long. Lost me £100's in business. Second update has caused youtube issues. Quite often now touch screen won't respond on skip ad, so have to close app fully and re open. Issues un resolved since day 1, over a year ago. Playing audio files received in whatsapp crashes the phone instantly. Often difficult to get screen on mid call to swap between speaker and earpiece and to use keypad for automated phone systems. Flashes to phone screen then back to screen off screen before you can press a button. Major call issue. I call someone it stays silent at my end for about 7 seconds and at the other end in that 7 seconds it rings straight away, hangs up and dials again triggering the other persons answerphone. So I get 7 seconds silence, then answerphone. They get a call that hangs up when they go to answer. Many other bugs too. Bluetooth connection, screencast, loads of things not working properly. All tested with a £200 cheaper Oppo Reno 2 and all functions work fine with that. Xiaomi were amazing when they were imported China phones with western compatibility but when they moved to the western market they turned in to a plain old boring western phone with a whole mass of issues. They used to be really innovative, even if much was stolen from modders they still pieced the software together in to a seamless experience. I'm talking a budget phone I beat up at work for 2.5 years and had not a single issue with hardware, or software. Now just a complete headache and the most expensive phone I've bought. Paid lots more, got lots less. My advice, a cheap Oppo is miles better than an expensive Xiaomi. Not only better but an excellent choice.
Worst Xiaomi phone ever. Update earlier in year left me without outgoing calls for 12 days, cost me a lot in business. Update today bricked my phone, needed factory reset and lost stuff off my phone. Update in-between killed battery life. Phone at 100% sat idle in my pocket for 30 mins, 12% gone. Girlfriends Oppo 4 hours in pocket and 3 calls lost only 8%. Issues with screen locking out mid call, so unable to swap between speaker and ear piece, major dialing out issue where it hangs up when other person answers and phone completely crashing when audio file played in WhatsApp still remain unfixed. So major issues without update fixes and updates that broke the phone 3 times. Pocket dial function removed, crouching with phone in pocket easily turns down volume and missed important calls and business calls who then called competitors as I didn't answer because it didn't ring. Issues with Bluetooth deciding if it wants to connect, or not. Lost my TV from screen share and wouldn't find it again, even though other devices would find it. The list goes on. My imported from China £130 Redmi1 many years ago wiped the floor with this. When Xiaomi came to the European market they ruined, completely ruined their phones. They had the most customisable out of the box OS ever, they dumbed it down. They removed excellent features. They replaced the super cool interfaces in their apps and replaced them with boring generic ones. They went from being my favourite phone company ever, to the worst. At £500 it was the most I had spent on a phone and my worst phone. I will never buy Xiaomi again. Whoever they chose to fire and whoever they chose to hire in the tech department, were the worst decisions they could have made.
the UI must be the biggest let down. Im super picky here. Had xiaomi, no thanks again. Had samsung, oh god no. Pure android is great while I feel oneplus nailed it. Which is sad because the Mi9 is just a complete killer for price. But I will rather pay twice the price, in order to save myself from annoying moments. Such as the notifications.
Why can't they put a sodding big battery? They can't even use the 3.5 jack excuse since they're not putting it in, what's stopping them from slapping a 4000 mAh battery and lessening that hideous camera bump while they're at it? Xiaomi is really always one step forwards and one backwards.
Having case on phone eliminates that camera bump and phone is still slim. Smaller battery reduce weight and keep phone elegant. I always use wireless headphones but in case you really want to use wired headphones it's still possible. We have to thank Xiaomi giving us opportunity to experience the fastest chipset, good AMOLED screen, great camera, fastest wireless charging, in screen fingerprint scanner and most importantly Global version of the phone. There are a lot of phones out there with headphone jack, OIS camera, big batteries, why complains?
@@cinialvespow1054 I got mine from eBay seller, really fair price and quick delivery. But it was only possible place I could get 128GB version at the time. Otherwise look at Amazon IT/ES, Honorbuy, Trading Shenzhen if they have it from EU stock. www.ebay.co.uk/usr/mm-telecom-uk.
Value as opposed to best. Whenever phone a is released, someone will chime in saying phone b,c and d are better, and phone a is only for poor people. That kind of thing. Whereas phone a buyer will say it will do 90% of what b,c and d do but for only 25-30% of the cost. For a lot of people I believe what phone they buy is conspicuous consumption, and think they are judged on it as a status symbol and yet are otherwise pretty short of money.

It simply shows that the company have more confidence in POCO brand then Redmi. Also, they are releasing new things under POCO brand name just like they release for Xiomi this shows that the company definately have future plans. And the next poco will release only after ONEPLUS 7. It's a direct competitor of ONEPLUS. While Redmi and xiomi is just like VIVO and OPPO.
@My Correo Although there have been many rumours. But, according to me the best probable date for poco f2 would be once oneplus 7 gets released officially. I would expect POCO F2 to launch within a month of One plus 7 release as POCO team is targeting oneplus mobiles only. One thing that I am sure about is that they will make it very convincing this time and I am hoping that they might iron out the mistakes they did in the first POCO F1. Then what are the criteria for dividing phones into different classes? This is not clear in this review and I do not understand it anymore ...
Easy, better display, better speakers, better software and after all a better camera....
@@TheNitpicker Thanks for the reply.
Amazing review as usual!, iam lookong forward for your mate 30 X review ;)
I would take this over the S10+ mainly because this has a much better camera and battery life. I bought the 8gb/256gb version for 600, S10+ nor XS max can come close. Get the right case, I have a nice case, not thick and no protruding camera. As for Battery life, something wrong with yours bro, I can get 7-9 hours on screen with Mobile / Wifi on, or 23 hours without the WIFI on.
Yes, please keep it under 10 minutes.
Congrats 100k subscribe 👍😊
I'm looking for something to replace my s7 edge but struggling to find something reasonably priced (under £400/€400) with at least better quality and specs. Camera, amoled, good software without bugs, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack would be nice. Is there anything out there?! Camera is a big one. Needs to be as good/ better than s7. I don't find the s7 edge slow so not bothered about new chips
I have mi8 and its better than even S9 xD or same
@@Schneizel00 I just can't believe that. Lower resolution screen, inferior panel, no 3.5mm headphone jack, inferior camera, huge notch, no micro SD card slot, xiaomi bugs. I don't care about the CPU or ram etc. They are all at a stage now where unless someone is gaming it's almost irrelevant except for improved battery. Think I'll stick with my s7 edge until there's actually something better to buy which isn't over £350
Thed Mi 9 is better than the Note 9 camera, I would put money on that. I had / have both phones and I still choose the Mi 9. Takes better pics than my mate 20x as well.
I'm gonna wait for the Honor 20 (and apparently there is gonna be a Honor 20 Pro) to release because it's supposed to be a similar price to this phone and I like Huawei/Honor phones so I wanna see what the Honor 20 has to offer before buying the MI9
I'de love to buy Xiaomi Mi9 but i wish it was smaller like MI6, appreciate your honest and informative review. Will hold on to my LG G7+ till end of year/ Christmas. best time to upgrade :)
Mi 9 SE bruh
There is mi9se
Mi 9SE... In my opinion it feels more premium in the hand and it looks better also.
Stick to a major brand. Xiaomi is too buggy. No point having great hardware if the software is poor. LG are great for value! I tried an LG g6 the other day and thought it was great. Pointless upgrading your g7
Can i use portrait mode option while taking pic with the telephoto lens??
No it's limited to the default lense, it also wouldn't make much sense to use the worse lense, just use the standard lense and crop in
yes I can!
Great review Damir, thank You! When Mi9SE review? Greetings
Maybe tomorrow or the day after when I find the time for it
@@TheNitpickerCan't wait, I have MiNote2 and want to change phone, thinking about Mi9SE, Poco F1 or wait for Poco F2 or Redmi X (?). What do you recommend?
This is a beautiful video 🔥🔥⭐
wondering , will the battery stay good after 2 years , will it last for longer than 12 hours stand by
After 2 years you might want to buy a new phone.
@@Ginko888 I've been using galaxy s6 for 5 years , it was the best phone when I bought it, now it's crap . I prefer to buy high end flagship devices and use them for years rather than changing it every year or two .
@@Edwardo160 i totally agree with you, but after 2 years the battery will reach its life cycle or how do you call it.
@@Ginko888 depends on the consumption . The more it heats and gets charged (especially up 100%) the faster it will wear out . But I always charge it only to 80% and try to keep it cool . So I still have 2500MA 5 year old battery alive here . It was much better when it was 2 years old . If Mi9 battery will stay healthy after 2 years I might buy it
The phone has been out like 5 months, who will answer your question? Come on my dude, don't be an ignorant troll..
Just love your honesty Demir 👍. When is Xiaomi gunna get its UI sorted. Bro honestly ads in the UI, bugs etc 👎.
All review-ers complain aboud ads because they want to be the first who make the review and buy the chinese version.if you buy the global version,no ads and google play installed
It's the global version not the Chinese one with ads though....

How do you buy the Xiaomi Mi 9 in Australia for under aud$600??
Google Gearbest
Superb review👍👍
if only i didn't hate xiaomis skin on top of android i just cant get past it otherwise solid device
you were never going to buy it anyway.
What about the problem of notifications that disappear at the top of Mi9. Any solutions? Thanks
No solutions, but hasn't bothered me.
My Mi5plus lasts 2 days before it needs a charge , thats with wifi on all the time. and being used a fair bit
need ur advise plz i can't decide mi 9 or mate 20 in my country the price is the same 4 the 2 mobile phones could you help me plz..
I'll go for mate 20

Mi 9, I have both, and the mate sits in the drawer.
Are you going to review the Redmi Note 7 Pro and vivo V15 Pro?
And congrats for reaching the 100k subs. You're probably the most underrated phone reviewer out there.
Neither, Pro is too similar to the normal Note after all and I don't waste my time with Vivo anymore because of their horribly annoying software anymore
I have a problem that nobody can answer! LG G6, Note 5, now my P30, won't load WiFi upstairs and will struggle @my work. Mate 10pro, Note 9 and Pixel 2 work fine?
You have too many phones!
your accent remind me of artyom and metro series

how much please?
450$ or 600 depending on which version you get.
I am mi fan. Mi 9 128gb sd855 only 500 usd or 3000 RMB
i was interested, but here in China I can get the one plus 7 256gb sd sd 855 with 8gb for the exact same, 2999rmb. Waiting for it now, actually--Taobao. I'd rather get the best software experience, too. The android crowd gets way to caught up in the hardware without enough consideration to the software, which is still pretty shit on most android devices.
you gave up on mi 9 se or review is still coming?
Today or tomorrow
Its the best fingerprint in display phone
Nah, there's a couple of better ones, especially Huawei and the new OP
📱👌👍😉😘😍
Lets be clear, in display fingerprint is a total waste of garbage. I prefer the back one so it doesn't finger up my damn screen.
Hey Nitpicker, love your reviews. Can you please do Nokia 8.1 review?
Sorry not at this point in time anymore, wouldn't be able to justify the time
It is more powerful than iPhone xs max and if performance is what you want, this is the most powerful , fastest phone on the planet right now.
It’s not more powerful than the XS Max. Stop it with the bullshit.
I play every game on MAX settings 60fps with zero lag. Pictures are gorgeous, and the updates come 2 times a month. This phone kills all other phones on the market.
Does this mfg come out with updates or whatever is on the phone stays in it for life of the phone.?
I've gotten 2 updates in 1 month. THey are staying on top of the updates.
Is this a worthy upgrade from a s8 plus exynos?
Worth it . Mi 9 have better processor and camera . So, you should sell ur s8 and buy iphone xs max

the UI must be the biggest let down.
Nah, theres a ton of people who actually quite like it. And what bug? I never had one
@@_____-ze5ow did I speak for a ton of people or myself?
Sadly Damir, it seems like some people just don’t ‘get’ equivocation .
Referring to what?
Value as opposed to best. Whenever phone a is released, someone will chime in saying phone b,c and d are better, and phone a is only for poor people. That kind of thing. Whereas phone a buyer will say it will do 90% of what b,c and d do but for only 25-30% of the cost. For a lot of people I believe what phone they buy is conspicuous consumption, and think they are judged on it as a status symbol and yet are otherwise pretty short of money.

How bad is the ads in the phone (and other MIUI phones)?
Chinese version is fine but the global is plagued badly with ads I heard
@@TheNitpicker That's the drawback of Xiaomi phones. I read setting your region to EU countries may give you less ads since they have to adhere to strict GDPR than other regions. I wouldn't recommend using Chinese roms as who knows what tracking data are sent back to them.
@@TheNitpicker Most of the ads can be disabled on the system apps by going to Settings and disable "Receive Recommendations". It's not that bad, just something you have to do whenever you reset your phone...
Well many don't like it no matter what and I can't blame them
i have got the global version (from amazon.es) in the UK, i have not seen any ads at all so far
So nice hardware, crappy software. Still, can be fixed with proper update...🤞
Look at the cost of a.replacment LCD !
Good hardware is not everything. For the price, the software will surely fail, the updates will be stopped soon and it will go down with this smartphone. I got caught like this, with Nokia 8 which had a great hardware in the time of the release but the phone has a so many bugs, especially after Pie update.
Not really, since it's a Xiaomi phone...
u don't know about Xiaomi's history about updates.. they push update every single week on beta rom.. nd on stable rom they push update after every 2 months.. 😑😑🙏
Wait for Poco F2 . It will probably kill this Mi9. Remember, it would have a bigger battery and better software support.
Why would it have better software support
@@love4thegame877 Simply more people would own a Poco F2 then Mi9. Also, the most important thing here is that Poco is seperate from Xiomi just like Onepus is from Oppo and Vivo. And just like POCO F1 which have received all kind of nifty features and updates that even Mi8 didn't have. I expect the same story to repeat itself. Simply put Poco team only have 1 phone to update while Mi team have many phones to look after. Also, Poco fan following and popularity is now bigger then the mi 8 or mi 9. And poco is a developer friendly phone.
Poco F2 is not coming. Its successor will be redmi pro 2 (Yeah they changed the name). And no, it will never have specs that will good enough to compete with its own flagship OBVIOUSLY... maybe a SD 855 but thats the best you are gonna get.
@@shayerzarif181 No, the Redmi pro 2 being the sucessor of Poco f1 is just a rumour. And absolutely nothing have been mentioned officialy. Secondly, POCO just released it's own merchandise with it's name. Which Redmi can not even think about something like that.
I expect it to have a more premium feel along with Snapdragon 855 with even better cameras. Let's wait for oneplus to release first.
Notification appear and disappear, screen dimming... Sound like a Huawei notorious issues and that gives me headaches! Should I go Damir for Samsung M30, it's got monster specs for a lot less money than Mi9?
Exynos 7904 and big bottom chin
, Common, even exynos 9820 is inferior to SD855. But if fixed notification on the top of the phone is most important feature then yes find another phone.

@@Tomislav_B. Oh well then, the chipsets aren't comparable,SD855 in it is like 3 times stronger than the Exynos. The storage on the Mi 9 is also a lot faster(UFS 2.1).Battery life is similar because the SD855 is MUCH more battery efficient(7nm FinFet process). The displays are actually very similar. The build is a lot better on the Mi 9.The camera is hella better on the Mi 9.The audio is i think better on the Mi 9,but i don't know.M30 also doesn't have an IR blaster, and charges A LOT slower. That's about it.
@@matejmilovanovic922 OK, thanks 👍Slow charge time doesn't bother me, IR blaster I don't need and camera isn't very important , for me it's important smooth operation, no lags or stuttering and a good software on witch I can rely on in everyday life, notifications, calendar, alarms...
