Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey, more accurate,.the new metalverse era.🦊🤘🔥
My suggestion to follow your journey is go back and listen songs from early era to compare and appreciate the evolution of this amazing group, trust me, you ain't see nothing yet.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
    About this song:
Monochrome is another beautiful track from latest album, it was the 2nd single released in November 2022 and there's an official lyrics video really cool if you wanna enjoy the studio album version, later in 2023 right before this concert you just saw they released the Piano Version at The First Take surprising everyone with another stunning and beautiful one off stripped down version, highly suggested.
The lyrics got some Norse mythology reference and when the lyrics vid came out there were many theories around, later they said they were surprised about it and saying they just wanna give a hopeful song.
    Here's some official info:
_"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is MONOCHROME and this 2nd pre-release digital single “Monochrome” centers around this theme. From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors."_
This was live at BabyMetal Begins - PIA Arena MM Clear Night, Yokohama on April 2 (not live at BabyMetal, that's the name of the group, although there is a song using that tittle name), MomoMetal first concert as an official member (yes, she's the new official member after YuiMetal left the group in 2018), you can notice SuMetal speaking to them in the middle section and giving that recognition.
They got this magical moment when performing live in every setlist they did throughout this whole World Tour 2023, and we'll definitely gonna see more this year.
The composer behind this song is the same one behind Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Kagerou, the arrangement of Megitsune and also behind Believing from this same latest album, you should really not miss those songs.
    Next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV
    .
Like SuMetal said at the end: "Just smile".🙂
Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🌈

I'm 47 and discovered them last year. My wife and I got to see them twice and even though they can't travel with the giant stage and production, we got to be really close to them and the amount of personal crowd interaction they do is awesome! Witnessing their actual stage presence and precision and quickness of their dancing is just amazing!
    Have fun with the journey!
No two songs sound the same. The choreo usually tells the story being sung.
You'll be blown away by the insane juxtaposition of cuteness blended with really insane heavy death metal from when they were younger haha. That being said, they have grown up and are just that much better now!

Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL.
Their name, BABYMETAL, is not about their age (although when they started in 2010 they were 12 and 11 years old so, it probably had something to do as well). The name was chosen for two main reasons:
    - To symbolize that they gave birth to a new genre of metal music (kawaii metal).
    - Because the writing (and pronunciation) in Japanese is very similar to the writing of "heavy metal" (and they love puns):
    BABYMETAL = ベビメタル (be-bi-me-ta-ru)
    Heavy metal = ヘビメタル (he-bi-me-ta-ru)
Finally, I'd like to remark that they are very diverse musically as they don't hesitate on mixing any music genre with any metal sub-genre and they are highly unpredictable. So always expect the unexpected and prepare to be surprised. 😁
    Enjoy your BABYMETAL journey!

Babymetal started in 2010, they were just kids they were 11, 11 and 12 years old. The main singer, Su-metal, is the center around everything else is build. The girls (young ladies now) are the bigger center. Their is authentic metal music, but with sweet melodic vocals of actual kids with choreographed dance, nobody had done anything like that before. In 2014 they blew up internationally and it got a lot of interest from the west rock metal scene: "WTF is going on in Japan ?". And thus started a wave of new rock/metal bands from Japan getting more recognition outside of Japan, many of them started to tour outside of Japan as well. Obviously kids don't often start (successful) metal bands. A producer who used to work with bands was asked to go work with kids because bands were not as popular anymore in Japan (and rock and metal in general went down in popularity around the world), he noticed a singer who had a loud style and thought: what if she can be combined with the loud metal music he loves. The company did not want this (even he himself was unsure if such a wacky idea would work), but he found a way inside the company to make it happen without an investment by the company. And Babymetal got an audience, an ever growing audience, still does. In part because of their uniqueness, but also because they can deliver it live. As you can see they can deliver an amazing live show.

Welcome to babymetal! I like your peaceful atmosphere.
When I keep listening to Su's straight and pure voice, the excessive vibrato and inflection of other singers become bothersome. BABYMETAL has been active for 13 years already, but even SU-METAL, the oldest of the group, has only just celebrated its 26th birthday. BABYMETAL's appearance shocked the metal music world and was met with much controversy. The girls have humbly accepted the negativity and continued to work immensely hard, and are now recognized as one of the best live acts in the world.
BABYMETAL will surely bring you much joy, excitement, and tears.

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊They formed in 2010, there were 3 original members (they were only 12 and 11 years old at the time) and we have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet.
They have 4 studio albums (plus more live albums) 'BABYMETAL' 2014 (re-released 2015), 'Metal Resistance' 2016, 'Metal Galaxy' 2019 and 'The Other One' 2023.
BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo).
The original third member Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced in October 2018 that she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band.
Momometal, was revealed as the new official third member on 1st April 2023.
BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings.
They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music).
BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement.
They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it.
The official videos are all good and worth seeing, but BABYMETAL are a live act, that is where they will always be at their best (including their live audio).

Babymetal began in 2010 as a side project of the J-pop idol group Sakura Gakuin. When they started, lead vocalist Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) was 12, and backing vocalists and dancers Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) were 10. Over the 13+ years of the band's existence, they have released four studio albums and 18 live albums, toured the world multiple times, played most of the world's biggest metal festivals, and performed with many of the biggest names in metal.
As you can see from this video, Babymetal are famous for their spectacular live performances, which straddle the line between rock concert and theatrical production. They have also won a number of awards for their live performances. We always recommend that when reacting to Babymetal, it's best to watch their live performances because the show is just as important as the music.
Japan has a thriving metal scene that people in the west are really only starting to pay attention to in recent years. Babymetal are the pioneers of the modern Japanese metal scene and have been pivotal in bringing attention to Japanese metal bands. Bands like Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, and Hanabie have all benefited from the trail blazed by Babymetal and made great strides in the west in their own right.

Very fun watching your reaction to this great performance, look forward to more. I'm sure others will mention as well, Su-Metal is the lead singer, the other two (Moa-Metal and Momo-Metal) are known as "Scream and Dance". It's fantastic to watch, and also just smart - their role as backup and support is focused on the audience to get and keep them involved in the performance. When Babymetal started one of their main goals was to get the crowd joining in with them, that is the very purposeful and specific role of "scream and dance".

Yes, they have one lead singer. She started with this when she was 12 and her two "Colleagues" were 10 when they started as "Scream and dance performers". In 2018 they lost Yui due to health reasons. But thid Performance was from the start of this year. Su was 26, Moa 24 and youngest but biggest Member was 20. She was previously a dancers and got her Microphone just that Day. This explains why she behaved herself a bit awkward. She has improved significantly when it gets to interacting as a full fledged member. And they are all specialists for audience interaction.

Thanks for a wonderful, thoughtful reaction. This is a great first song for somebody to hear as in many ways it is a wonderful compilation of everything Babymetal has done-in one sense-going back to 2010. Babymetal started when the ladies-with one new member replacing a member who had to leave for health reasons-were 11, 10&10. So these are highly seasoned professionals at this stage in their career. The Babymetal story is wrapped in a complicated mythos and history. But understand the Babymetal invented their own genre of metal, kawaii metal or idol/cute metal. Others have attempted it but have never succeeded. The lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto or Sumetal or just the Queen-for her regal bearing has an exceptional, versatile and unique singing style unlike at least anyone I've ever heard before. Babymetal has a quite large catalog at this point-over 70 songs. They are legendary for their live performances among other things. I mention this as a suggestion that many if not most Babymetal fans consider videos of their live performances much more of a true experience of what the band can offer than mv's. p.s. I really liked everything about your reaction except that you had cuts in the video. People like myself love what Babymetal does and having-in many cases-beloved parts of the song edited out is almost painful and interrupts the carefully crafted narrative of the song. I hope you will do other reactions because I really like what you had to say but I hope you'll resist the urge to edit them. Thanks and best wishes.

Great first reaction! This is just an incredible performance of an incredible song!
Babymetal are 13 year veterans of the show biz who started in 2010 at the age of 12/11. They have over 9 years of world tours, 4 albums, and 60+ songs to their name.
At their core, Babymetal is a live performance group that fuses J-Pop and heavy metal. Their songs will have so much variety, you’ll almost never hear the same style twice!
My interpretation of Monochrome: when faced with a tragedy (monochrome fireworks), how will we imagine the colors of the night sky?
This eventually increases in resolve from how will we, to WE WILL ILLUMINATE the world in rainbow colors.
Because, no matter how long the night, morning will arrive. So just smile! (Ending verse).
    As you said, incredibly uplifting!
Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

BM performed many times in your country including 3 times at Roundhouse, London (2-day show) and The Civic at The Halls, Wolverhampton in their 2023 EU / UK tour.
I witnessed this very performance at the venue. I sang the ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with the girls. What a bliss! A note that "Live at Clear Night 2023" may be a better indicator which concert this is from. There are currently two different performances of this on proshot, Returns and Begins Clear Night. This 'Begins' set of concerts have two nights: Black Night and Clear Night. The arena is PIA Arena, so often concerts are titled PIA Arena 2023 as well.
BABYMETAL is a kawaii metal (or cute metal) group, a genre they created, and essentially idol jpop infused metal, but that only scratches the surface of what their music is as each song is different and draws from not only different genres of metal, but mixes in other genres outside of metal as well. They have four studio albums and their fourth 'The Other One' came out last year. Monochrome was one of the singles off that album.
Su-metal is the main vocalist, and Moametal and Momometal are backup vocals and dancing. BABYMETAL has been around since 2010, and Su-metal was 12 at the time, and Moametal was 10. This was Momometal's first concert as an official member. Since 2019, they had been rotating backup dancers that didn't sing in the place of their former member Yuimetal who had left due to health reasons. Momo was one of them, and then became an official member at the end of Black Night last year.

Babymetal was formed in October 2010. It was only the girls in the beginning. The Kami Band was added for live shows. First appearance late in 2012 and became full time in 2014. They have various songwriters and guest songwriters. The girls were required by Japanese law to complete 9th grade. So the girls were full time students in the beginning and Babymetal progressed much faster when Suzuka Nakamoto finished 9th grade and could do Babymetal full time.

Good first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello. 🤘🦊🤘

Babymetal (Japanese: ベビーメタル, Hepburn: Bebīmetaru) is a Japanese kawaii metal band consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal", Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal" and Momoko Okazaki as "Momometal". The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances. The band was formed in 2010 The name BABYMETAL is a play on the words Heavy Metal. The word Baby is used to emphasize the cute impression but does not lose the strong metallic feel. Not because they are still young, but the baby's name here is a play on words from heavy metal.

Babymetal are predominately a live act, in their 14 years they have only released 4 albums, unlike a lot of other bands they tend to only release new songs as a way to freshen up their act as well as having material that fits the age of the girls/ ladies. Their first album the songs are more playful suiting their pre teen ages the second was a little more mature and heavier fitting their mid teens the third more mature still for their late teens early 20s and the forth album released last year for their mid 20s. hopefully we won't have to wait until they are 30 for their next album. Their live act status is probably why you have not heard of them as you won't hear them on mainstream radio as they do not target that kind of market.

Great reaction, Monochrome is indeed a very positive song, though it deals with war and bombardments:
    During the dusk of Ragnarok,
    what are we to see?
No matter how long the night
    the morning will arrive
    It's really a touching one.
BABYMETAL style is kawaii metal a fusion of J-Pop and Metal, but their songs often lean more toward one of the two, so their production has been split since the beginning into two main sides: the bright one (red, gold, light, clear) more pop and fun, and a darker, heavy sounding one. Their costumes reflect this trend.
The Other ONE, their last album, is their first that doesn't have this dualism, indeed it's considered an experimental concept album.
Nonetheless, even though it's more coherent than all their previous works, every song is quite different, I mean quite a lot different from each other.

oh yes, the age of the babymetal group is much older than other kawaii metal groups such as lovebites, band maid, nemophila, or passcode. Imagine how long they have struggled to develop music so that it can be accepted by all groups, both young and old, whether they like the metal genre or outside it. because babymetal is a group in the experimental metal genre, so they like to combine music from all genres.

Her voice is adjusted a bit here. Their concert videos are cleaned up, but her voice really isn't far from what you're hearing here. If you'd like to hear an uncorrected song, check out 'Karate' from Download festival 2016. That video is fantastic too, and it's raw concert stream from the performance with no post processing.

I'm pretty sure most of the concert videos are nearly unedited, you can hear she is just a tiny bit off in many notes in most of the recordings. This one had something done to it though because (ironically) her voice sounds so bad compared to most live from them.

Why is it that ROCK music has always been bright, but METAL music is darker? Is it because dark gimmicks sell better in marketing?

Your 2nd new band from Japan in a short time. 🙂 I'm not too familiar with Babymetal, but I've heard some of their songs. They are usually very energetic on stage. I'm not a metalhead, although I like symphonic metal bands like Nightwish. I think you also have to explore Band-Maid now (also from Japan).

    BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (25 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance. Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (23 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal (20 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.)
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consists of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature, which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.

    Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all-power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show “I” was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of its existence. Also established beyond the 3-member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018)
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost, leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refused or were too stupid to understand and formed the cancerous Yui-Cultists that would plague the fandom until Momometals debut. There are some holdouts, but thankfully they have become very rare.)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020)
First introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.

    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihira, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it.

COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021)
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans at the time was what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has moved on to other projects, including starting a fan club. Kano Fujihara graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4-month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaft Momoko Okazaki who is a graduate of Sakura Gakuin in March 2018 would be the last standing Avenger until she would become the new member of Babymetal.
      Music Videos of this Era
BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show and featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015)
      Post 10-year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-September 2022)
The band stepped back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. There were a few months of a pure break with Su, and Moa taking some time thinking about their future as they stated in an interview. This was a short few months (Their words) they went quickly back to work in less than a year logistically speaking as they spent time working on a new concept album the choreography and planning the massive world tour in 2023. The word hiatus is used a lot, and some idiots thought BM might never comeback or believe this was a true hiatus. Ignore their drama they just want attention, it was nothing like a true hiatus, people who claim it was are liars. They took a short break the girls took a few months to reflect but were back making their 4th album working on the choreograph and setting up their largest world tour in the groups history. You have to be an idiot to think they set all of that up in like 2 months.
Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition destroying all the other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She was blonde for a bit). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round.
The Other One (October 2022-April 2023)
They had released 5 songs on UA-cam, and they performed a show in January 2023 where they performed these new songs leading up to the released of their Album in March with 10 new songs. During January and February shows Su and Moa were supported by Momoko. On April First (Fox Day) Their new show played many new and old songs as well as officially made Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal the official 3rd member. Bringing Babymetal back to a 3-member unit once again. This all kicked off their world tour in touring with Sabaton in Europe then Asia and Australia, and tours in US in the fall and a solo tour in Europe in winter, with a tour finally in Japan in 2024. All of this is proof there was no true hiatus, just sensational fans who want to make things more dramatic than they truly were.

The New Era of Babymetal (April 2023-Current)
After doing what Su-Metal described in Interviews as the Training Beginning, Su, Moa, and Momo toured Europe with Sabaton, then had solo tours in Asia and Australia, before returning to Japan and having a few solo shows along with hitting the Summer Sonic and other Festivals in Japan before their major tour in the United States with DETHKLOK in September. They spent some time in October to do a festival in Japan and perform with Bring Me the Horizon in their song Kingslayer live for the first time. They completed their EU Tour and are taking a break as they prepare for 2024 with shows in Okinawa and Legend MM For Momoko’s birthday. They also already have many 2024 festival dates in the US and EU and solo shows in Spain.

Baby Metal is very talented, and they put on an awesome show. Those three women work very hard, even if they use hired bands, they do excellent. If you want some more of the Japanese fusion of rock/metal, I would highly suggest Band-Maid. Unlike Baby Metal, Band-Maid actually play their instruments. Band-Maid are epically talented at their craft and I would suggest any of their songs, but they are also best on their official live videos(you can see the raw talent and crowd interaction).
