    I was waiting for you to get around to adding Firebird III to your video catalogue, and I wasn't disappointed! I always liked this car's "Space-Age" look that suggested the air, and not the road, was its element. That said, to me a big "low-point" of this concept car was its (unfortunate) need for a conventional piston engine APU in addition to the turbine engine. That, and the fact that this concept car was never made as a 1/25th scale model kit.
    Thanks for posting this!

      Looks like it's time to scratch build one. Never realized it never became a kit, that's crazy.

    Double Bubble… the technological innovations were very forward thinking… and were developed without computers.

    The press release today would probably say business in the front, party in the back. 😀

    how did you talk to the person in the passenger seat?

      By the way, yes? Apparently there is no wall at the bottom where the shifter is and the sound goes through, but probably very quietly.

    Don’t the double bubbles make it hard to _talk_ with a passenger?

    • @retrocarchannel
      @retrocarchannel  3 місяці тому

      Maybe, but I don't think there's a plug wall at the bottom, if they're saying something, of course the audibility won't be perfect.

    When GM used to be innovative, although I will give them credit for the C8 Corvette.

    When you write your AI script, you might want to actually spell out the Roman numerals so that it is pronounced correctly by the AI, otherwise, the AI will just assume that the Roman numeral following the name is a REGNAL number applied to (mostly) royal personages or people who have carried on a particular name for generations.

    Suspect the market was less "futuristic" then wannabe fighter jocks. And as a pedestrian, those winglets look like scythes.

    I thought such things looked goofy as h*ll back when they came up with this stuff, and it looks no better today. WTF was the idea with the wings on that flightless bird? And the bubble top, which appears countless times on these "cars of the future" always looked like a great way to roast meat using only the sun for power.
    Bubble tops or gull wing doors; Which is the dumber idea? The glass dome to burn one to a crispy golden brown on sunny days was bad, but if you ever had a weak gas cylinder let a hood or hatch fall on your head you have to cringe when you see those ridiculous gull wing doors. Both these lame ideas popped up again and again on the "futuristic" automobiles.

      In these days of computer technology, we can visually and physically recreate almost any model we can or will come up with on a computer. We see many different models in games and movies and because of this our vision is much broader than it was in those days. Back then there was nothing like this and thanks to engineers, designers created unusual concepts of how they thought the cars of the future could be.
